For context, ICE arrests tens of thousands of illegal aliens every year who are convicted of have pending charges for crimes like drunk driving, assault, drug possession, and fraud. Why is Biden protecting illegal alien drunk
drivers?
The Biden administration has done a lot of damage
to immigration enforcement in the U.S., but
perhaps its most dangerous move has been its
consistent refusal to deport criminal illegal aliens
who commit crimes right here in the U.S.
The latest example of the Biden administration’s malfeasance came late last month when the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) canceled a deportation request for an illegal alien who allegedly killed a teenager in a hit-and-run incident. Heriberto Fuerte-Padilla, an illegal alien from Mexico, was arrested in November 2020 after he allegedly drunkenly rammed his car into the car of 19-year-old Texas woman Adrienne Sophia Exum, killing her. Fuerte-Padilla then allegedly fled the scene before police officers caught up and apprehended him. After initially putting out a detainer for Fuerte-Padilla’s deportation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) rescinded the detainer after Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas dramatically reduced the pool of illegal aliens eligible for deportations.
“To be arrested or deported, a migrant now must be a national security risk, a recent border jumper or a public safety risk,” a report from the Washington Times stated.
While most law-abiding Americans would likely consider drunk driving a “public safety risk,” Mayorkas has made clear that he sees things differently. Shortly after taking office last year, Mayorkas announced that many criminal illegal aliens living in the country no longer had to worry about being deported. The guidelines adopted by DHS under Mayorkas’ leadership give free passes to illegal aliens who commit crimes such as drunk driving and assault. Other illegal aliens living in Texas with drunk driving offenses are also getting a pass, according to the Washington Times’s report.
Another illegal alien who is benefiting from the Biden administration’s relaxed rules is Jose Godoy Vasquez, an illegal alien from Guatemala who now lives in Texas. Vasquez has a lengthy criminal record, which includes convictions for drunk driving, drug possession, and domestic violence. Like Fuerte-Padilla, Vasquez initially had an ICE detainer on him, which was rescinded as a result of the policies implemented by Mayorkas after he took office. This means Vasquez will be able to continue to live in Texas once he’s released from prison in 2025, unless a new administration is elected and rescinds the White House’s current policies. The Washington Times’s report also noted Nay Thar, an illegal alien from Thailand who was previously convicted of drug possession and drunk driving. Thar was released from prison earlier this year, and will be allowed to continue to live in Texas because of the Biden administration’s guidelines.
Biden is doubling down on his radical anti-borders agenda even as polls make clear that the American people oppose these policies. Even some Americans who cast their ballots for Biden in the last presidential election now regret their votes, including Adrienne Sophia Exum’s mother, who recently expressed outrage over the administration’s refusal to deport her daughter’s alleged killer.
"By him not being deported, it’s like you telling me my daughter’s life didn’t mean anything,” she said in a recent Fox News interview.
It may sound harsh, but it’s certainly a reasonable conclusion to come to given the Biden administration’s stubborn refusal to hold criminal illegal aliens accountable. At the very least, it’s fair to say there is a startling lack of empathy from America’s leaders towards victims of illegal alien crime. We see this lack of empathy demonstrated not just in this administration’s refusal to deport illegal aliens convicted of drunk driving offenses, but in instances involving other crimes as well.
A recent investigation from the Immigration Reform Law Institute uncovered the story of Antonio Miranda-Cota, an illegal alien in Nevada who is currently serving a five year prison sentence for repeatedly bludgeoning his construction co-worker in the head with a claw-hammer, an act that nearly killed his victim. Miranda-Cota had previously been referred for deportation after two previous assaults, but was allowed to stay in the country, and was ultimately given a work visa by the Obama administration. Miranda-Cota’s victim survived the attack, but has lost his ability to work, and was not allowed to read a victim impact statement at Miranda-Cota’s sentencing.
These crimes evoke such outrage because of how preventable they are. The refusal of our political elites to enforce the law has led to a body count that continues to grow. The Biden administration’s radical moves to protect criminal illegal aliens will only create more victims and more suffering.

Beto O'Rourke's Mysterious Woman

Robert Francis "Beto" O'Rourke recently announced his candidacy for governor of Texas against incumbent Greg Abbott after the former's failed campaigns for U.S. Senate in 2018 and president in 2020. One issue that has followed him was his arrest report of a DUI hit-and-run in 1998, released in August 2018 by the Houston Chronicle and San Antonio Express. Up until that time, he had admitted to the DUI without mentioning the accident and fleeing the scene.
During a debate in September with eventual victor Ted Cruz, a moderator brought it up, and O'Rourke said, "I did not try to leave the scene of the accident." Then he repeated a familiar comment before the report had been released: that he was given a "second chance" only because he was a white man. Days later in the Washington Post, fact-checker Glenn Kessler gave O'Rourke "Four Pinocchios," which qualifies as a "whopper." Just four days later, during friendly questioning by the Texas Tribune, O'Rourke was asked again whether he had fled the scene of the accident. "I did not flee," he replied, and the "police report is wrong." O'Rourke then added that he had recently "reached out to a passenger who was in the car," and "she" said that "we did not try to flee." O'Rourke was not asked and did not volunteer who "she" was.
Then, in 2019, soon after his loss to Cruz, when O'Rourke had announced he was running for the White House, he was asked again by Vanity Fair about whether he had fled the accident. He now claimed that the mystery woman was "Michelle" and added that after he was arrested, police took him and his mystery passenger to a gas station and dropped her off (which would have been about three in the morning), and he gave her money so she could go home. He spent the night in jail and was bailed out the next morning by his father, former El Paso County judge Pat O'Rourke, who before his death suggested that the young O'Rourke, then going by "Rob," go back to using his childhood nickname of "Beto" if he wanted to succeed in politics in Hispanic-dominated El Paso. After completing a diversion program, O'Rourke's driver's license was eventually returned.
There are several problems with O'Rourke's changing explanations. When arresting officer Richard Carrera wrote his report in 1998, he mentioned that O'Rourke was traveling on Interstate 10 at a high rate of speed west from El Paso in Anthony, Texas when he struck a truck and careened across the grass median and began to flee east on the other side of the interstate. A good Samaritan motorist whom O'Rourke had nearly struck followed him across the median and honked his horn and blinked his lights and finally got O'Rourke to stop. When Carrera arrived, he talked to the unnamed witness/reporter first and wrote that he was accompanied by a passenger.
Then he spoke to O'Rourke, who was extremely drunk and "almost fell to the floor" when asked to leave the vehicle. O'Rourke told him he had had two beers, failed several sobriety tests, and was arrested. Carrera made no mention of a passenger with O'Rourke as he did with the witness. O'Rourke's next stop was a substation in west El Paso, where the breathalyzer showed that he had had at least six beers. He was booked and spent the night in jail.
I recently attended an event in Corpus Christi, billed as a town hall, that featured O'Rourke. I intended to ask him about "Michelle" and his ever changing stories and about what the record clearly showed. When he arrived and made his way to a stage on a patio of a local restaurant and was walking past me, I asked him who "Michelle" was — who was this woman who could verify that he did not flee the scene of the accident fueled by the DUI? He said, "I'll talk to you afterwards" and got up on the podium. After speaking for about ten minutes, he walked off into the crowd and posed for selfies and took brief questions one-on-one. I worked my way back up to him, and when I approached a nervous O'Rourke, I said I was still waiting for an answer about who "Michelle" was.
I asked him if the police had dropped her off in the middle of the night at a gas station. "Who is she?" "She's a friend of mine," he replied, "a private person" and couldn't say any more than that. I noted that the police report said that he’d fled and that another driver had flagged him down. He again denied that he had fled. I asked again if the police had let "Michelle" out in the middle of the night, and he said, "They did, they did." I said they would never do that, and then his staff moved in, and I was done.
I later contacted former officer Gary Hargrove, who was Carrera's supervisor at the time. I asked him if any officer would have dropped off a passenger with a DUI suspect at a gas station in the middle of the night. He's never heard of anything like that and insisted that it would never have happened. I asked him if Officer Carrera would have ever filed a false police report, and he said he did not and would not. I then mentioned that, looking at the available facts, it appeared that O'Rourke was not being honest, and Hargrove agreed with me.
When the issue came up with Vanity Fair in 2019, the magazine noted that it would likely come up again. It should, now, in his campaign for governor. With O'Rourke's ever evolving stories against what the record clearly shows, it remains a serious issue, and it should until he finally admits the truth.
Joe Biden Expected to Roll Back Deportations for Illegal Alien Drunk Drivers, Assailants

President Joe Biden’s administration is expected to roll back deportations starting this week for illegal aliens who have been convicted of drunk driving, simple assault, and a number of drug crimes.
Internal communications reviewed by the Washington Post, and nearly confirmed by White House press secretary Jen Psaki, details how the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency under Biden’s direction will not prioritize deportations for illegal aliens convicted of a number of crimes, all of which have American victims.
The Post reports:
Agents will no longer seek to deport immigrants for crimes such as driving under the influence and assault, and will focus instead on national security threats, recent border crossers and people completing prison and jail terms for aggravated felony convictions. [Emphasis added]
“Generally, these convictions would not include drug based crimes (less serious offenses), simple assault, DUI, money laundering, property crimes, fraud, tax crimes, solicitation, or charges without convictions,” acting director Tae Johnson told senior officials in a Thursday email advising them on how to operate while new guidelines are finalized. [Emphasis added]

The draft guidelines are awaiting approval by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who was confirmed by the Senate on Tuesday. [Emphasis added]
The internal emails sent to ICE agents suggests illegal aliens are only considered threats to the public if they are convicted of aggravated felonies, can be proven to be gang members, or have a history of violence.
In cases where an illegal alien’s aggravated felony is 10 years old, though, ICE agents will not prioritize their arrest or deportation. Similarly, an illegal alien’s gang tattoos will no longer be enough to classify their affiliation with a gang and thus, they will not be a priority.
“Is the Biden administration really saying that drunk driving isn’t a public safety threat?” former acting ICE Director Thomas Homan asked, speaking to Breitbart News. “Tell that to the Angel Moms whose children were killed by illegal alien drunk drivers.”
Also part of the new guidelines expected this week is a provision forcing agents to get approval from acting ICE Director Tae Johnson to make arrests of any illegal aliens who are not in prisons or jails. As part of that approval process, agents would have to justify to Johnson why the illegal alien should get priority for arrest and deportation.
“It’s designed to slow the process,” Homan said of the guideline.

Under Biden’s new guidelines, most of these illegal aliens would not be prioritized for arrest or deportation and thus allowed to remain in the United States. Even if any of these illegal aliens would fit the criteria for arrest and deportation, their arrest would have to be approved by the Acting ICE Director if they are no longer in prison or jail.
“I knew they would move left but I didn’t think they would move to such an incompetent position,” Homan said. “These people are here in violation of federal law. You’re telling ICE to ignore that.”

As we head into the long Labor Day weekend, here are two tips to make your holiday even more cheerful.
First: Remember to watch out for drunk driving illegal aliens!
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a report after report showing that Hispanics are wildly overrepresented in drunk driving accidents (but also contribute so much to our cultural life, musical heritage and landscape!).
Or, as the Huffington Post puts it: “Latinos At Greater Risk of Dying From Driving While Intoxicated.” They’re victims of the drunk driving epidemic! German Concentration Camp Guards At Greater Risk of Dying From Accidental Inhalation of Zyklon B.
One NHTSA report elaborated on the inebriated Latino driver problem:
“The authors found that some Latino parents actively promoted drinking among their sons as a sign of masculinity or machismo. (A focus group) indicated drinking among Hispanics might be motivated by the need to prove their manhood within the Latino culture: ‘Everyone thinks they can handle alcohol, especially men.’ ... ‘A lot of Hispanics think that way. It’s the macho male and the woman gives in to the man. Machismo causes this behavior.’”
The report also stated, “Mexican-American DWI offenders vastly overestimated the number of drinks required to make them unsafe drivers (eight to 10 drinks).”
It’s unclear if the NHTSA’s methodology took into account the effects of Cinco de Mayo.
Naturally, it would be outrageous to conclude from this that drunk driving is the national sport of Mexico. However, last year alone, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deported 80,730 illegals for drunk driving, the majority of them Mexicans.
As the Houston Chronicle delicately put it a few years ago: “Young Hispanic men not getting message about drinking, driving.” ... crashing, burning, their ashes being spread across Cuernavaca ...
Thanks to its proximity to Mexico, Texas leads the nation in fatal drunk driving accidents, including those involving a blood alcohol content of 0.15 or greater -- nearly double the legal limit. In 2014, young Latinos were responsible for about one-third of all DUI accidents in Houston -- 535 -- though they made up only 8 percent of the population.
MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell sneered at President Trump’s June 2018 meeting with family members of Americans killed by illegals, saying most of their dead kids were killed in traffic accidents. As if that doesn’t count.
Why did we have to hear endlessly about O’Donnell’s car accident in Tortola a few years ago, which he described as his “brush with death”?
Yeah, that must have been rough, some real Brian Williams stuff there. But Don Rosenberg finding out his 25-year-old son had been run over, backed over and then run over again by an illegal alien -- well, that’s just a “traffic accident.”
Our media have no idea who Don Rosenberg is, and no interest in finding out. Their concern for "children” is limited to the ones they can exploit to get their way on illegal immigration. They wail about “children separated from their parents,” but it would be a dream come true for the “Angel Mom” parents if their kids were merely separated from them for six months -- or six years! -- if only they could see them again, ever.
You know what else is kind of traumatic? Being wedged into the false panel of a truck with a breathing tube before traversing hundreds of miles of rough terrain to make it to the U.S. border. These parents did that to their kids.
The New York Times, too, nonchalantly mentioned that the kids of some of the families at Trump’s White House meeting “died in car accidents.” They just died. Car accidents happen all the time.
Yes, traffic accidents can be caused by anyone -- especially a sh*t-faced illegal going 80 miles per hour on a residential street. Internet scams happen all the time, so, let’s take in more Nigerians!
The point is, these particular drunk drivers never should have been here in the first place.
Tricia Taylor didn’t die, but the 18-year-old had to have her legs amputated almost to the hip after a drunk driving illegal alien from El Salvador swerved his car onto a sidewalk in Pontiac, Michigan, and rammed her against the wall. It was a miracle that she lived, suffering through multiple surgeries and a lifetime of pain medications. At Jose Carcamo’s sentencing, Taylor said, “What you give him won't come close to the sentence he gave me for the rest of my life."

Six-year-old Annie Cumpston was walking hand-in-hand with her mother in 2003, after attending the Ringling Brothers Circus in Baltimore with her family, when a drunk Mexican plowed into the crosswalk, killing the little girl. The intoxicated illegal, Guillermo Diaz-Lopez, fled the scene, dragging a pedestrian on his truck, and was finally apprehended while trying to break through a police barrier.
Today, you can visit “Annie’s Playground,” a beautiful 60,000-square-foot wonderland built in the victim’s honor in Fallston, Maryland -- at least until Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris demand its demolition to show their support for “undocumented immigrants.”
