Joe Biden was never smart.

When I interned in Congress for two summers many years ago, other congressional members openly referred to him as one of the dumbest men on Capitol Hill.  Staffers and interns, including ones who worked for Democrats, made fun of him. 

Old age and dementia have done this dull man no favors.  That was apparent over the weekend when Biden, stupidly even for him, went off script and called for regime change in Russia.  It also was apparent a few months ago, when Biden may have precipitated the war by, according to President Zelensky's account of their phone call, encouraging Ukraine to apply for membership in NATO.  Biden then later suggested that the response from Western allies to any offensive moves by Russian troops massing at Ukraine's border might be more muted if Russia were to carry out a "minor incursion" into Ukrainian territory. 

Elsewhere, Biden has shown the same kind of incompetence on forging another nuclear deal with Iran.

It is really quite pathetic to see the same pro-Israel individuals and organizations who supported Biden over Trump raising the alarm on the administration's weak Iran nuclear negotiations.  This was all so predictable for those of us who could see past Trump's "mean tweets" and were instead focused on supporting his administration's policies, which brought unprecedented peace and prosperity. 

Instead of mean tweets, we have an incompetent administration that has brought the very opposite of peace, along with high inflation through its reckless spending policies.  With all of the giveaways to Iran, the administration might as well include the development of Iran's nuclear capability in its "infrastructure" project and funding.

I wonder whether, when in a few years Iran is aiming its nuclear weapons directly at Israel and the Gulf States (and perhaps Berlin and Paris, too), those moderates and independents who tipped the election to Biden will continue to congratulate themselves on being "on the right side of history" by voting against Trump.

Once the Republicans take back Congress in the midterms, I would be in favor of impeaching Biden on the grounds that he is dumb and incompetent except for the inconvenient fact that his vice president is even more so.  That's one of the reasons he picked her.  Sadly.

Biden apparently doesn’t understand what ‘recuse’ means

For someone who is a member of the bar and was a longtime chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, President Biden demonstrated a shocking lack of understanding of what it means for a Justice of the Supreme Court to recuse him- or herself. It almost has to be his dementia, which is now so self-evident in his public appearances.

He was asked in his press conference yesterday (all 12 minutes and 46 seconds of it) if Justice Thomas should recuse himself from any case involving the January 6 “insurrection” (the word that the reporter used) because of something his wife texted.

He said that he would leave that to “two entities,” the January 6 committee of Congress and the Justice Department. Watch:

Biden’s understanding of the fundamentals of the federal goverenment as established by the Constitution also seems rather shaky. For the record (attention: Joe Biden), there are 3 branches of the federal government. The Judicial Branch, at the top of which the Supreme Court sits, is separate from the Legislative Branch, which includes the January 6 Committee. The  Executive Branch, which Biden heads, and which includes the Justice Department, is the other branch. Neither the Legislative nor the Executive Branch has anything to do with recusals in the Judicial Branch.

Consumers’ Research Launches Ad Campaign Exposing BlackRock’s Climate Activism, Cozy Ties to China

Consumers’ Research launched an ad campaign exposing BlackRock CEO Larry Fink’s climate activism and its cozy ties to the Chinese government.

Consumers’ Research launched four mobile billboards driving around the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners (TIRPO) convention and the Texas state capitol, highlighting that BlackRock CEO Larry Fink has continued to push environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing.

BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, has been moving towards pressuring public companies to comply with Fink’s goals of advancing climate change policies and other controversial issues.

Consumers’ Research hopes to highlight that BlackRock has continued to push for diminished domestic oil production while making massive profits off of foreign oil.

Consumers’ Research launched an ad, “Backpedaling,” that has aired in the Austin and Houston markets; the ad highlights BlackRock’s cozy ties with China and other authoritarian governments:

Will Hild, the executive director of Consumers’ Research, said in a statement:

BlackRock and Larry Fink are suddenly trying to cozy up to the oil and gas industry. They want to pretend they haven’t spent the last decade undermining America’s energy independence while they continue to build up China’s economy. You’d think a company that has made it their mission to enforce ESG standards on American businesses would apply those same standards to foreign investments, but BlackRock isn’t pushing its woke agenda on China or Russia. America’s consumers know a liar when they see one and Consumers’ Research isn’t going to let them get away with it.

Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) said about the Consumers’ Research ad, “BlackRock and Larry Fink preach their ‘woke’ agenda to American companies here at home while making sweetheart deals with the #CCP & Russia.”

In an annual letter to chief executives, BlackRock CEO Fink wrote, “climate change has become a defining factor in companies’ long-term prospects … But awareness is rapidly changing, and I believe we are on the edge of a fundamental reshaping of finance.”

Then in a “stewardship expectations” report, BlackRock said it would pressure companies to disclose the racial, ethnic, and gender makeup of their employees, and ensure they are taking measures to advance “diversity, equity, and inclusion.”

“We are raising our expectations, in the context of regional norms, on board and workforce ethnic and gender diversity,” Blackrock said.

As part of its climate change activism, BlackRock pushed to have three climate change activists on the Exxon board to force the company to adopt radical changes to its climate change policies.

BlackRock is a major owner of PetroChina, a subsidiary of the state-owned China National Petroleum Corporation, ignoring its ties to alleged Chinese human rights abuses and corruption. PetroChina has been accused of human rights abuses related to the oil and gas pipelines under construction in Burma.

Joe Biden takes a major step to prop up the Chinese economy

One of the great things Trump did for America was to impose tariffs on Chinese goods that the Chinese government was subsidizing as part of its goal to continue destroying America’s manufacturing sector. Last week, Biden lifted 64% of those tariffs on a broad range of productes.

When globalism first become a thing, probably around the Bronze Age (approximately 3300 B.C. to 1190 B.C.), trade meant getting from another country something that couldn’t possibly come from your own country. That’s what globalism meant right up until the post-WWII period.

In the post-war years, Asian countries started competing with America for manufacturing. American companies, both large and small, learned that everything they made in America could be made more cheaply in Asia. Regulations were few or non-existent, and labor costs were de minimis, while costly labor unions were non-existent.

For those Americans who weren’t laid off when factories closed, Asian manufacturing meant an endless cornucopia of cheap goods. Eventually, Japan and Taiwan stopped making garbage and started making goods of superior quality. Once again, American manufacturing was locked out and consumer prices rose—but if you bought a Japanese jigsaw or a Taiwanese computer monitor, you were getting value for the money.

China was different, though. China has never made quality goods. Nor has it ever truly competed in a free market, unlike other Asian countries. Instead, the government subsidizes Chinese products to ensure that American companies abandon their home country for China.

If you’ve tried to stop buying Chinese goods, you’ve discovered how few American-made products there are. Everything (including most of our prescription medicines, except those from India) comes from China.

Thus, we no longer look to globalism to bring to America exotic goods we can’t get elsewhere. Instead, we’ve made ourselves utterly dependent on China to provide the basic materials that underlie American life—and China means to keep it this way, thanks to that government underwriting, along with corrupt trade practices, and the use of prison and Uyghur slave labor.

President Trump recognized this dangerous dependency on China. If we cannot make any of the basic staples of modern life, China can extort us at any time. Therefore, he offended libertarians and other free traders by imposing significant tariffs on China, in part to punish its trade cheating, and in part to encourage manufacturers to return to America.

Then, Biden got himself into the White House—the same Biden who dragged his debauched, untalented, drug-addicted son with him on official government trips to China. Once there, that same son magically acquired $1.5 billion in business contracts from entities that are basically fronts for the Chinese Communist Party.

While Biden was out of the White House, the Chinese might have wondered whether that $1.5 billion investment was worth it. Now, though, the Chinese know their ship’s about to come in. Sure, Biden’s made nasty remarks about China but the Chinese understand that he’s got to maintain the façade of a president “tough on China.” What’s important is what Biden does for China.

Last week, Biden did something very big for China:

President Joe Biden’s administration has eliminated United States tariffs on more than 350 products made in China, nearly all of which could be made in the U.S. or other countries.

The Section 301 tariffs on billions of dollars worth of China-made products were first imposed by former President Trump after a decades-long free trade consensus in Washington, D.C., that has eliminated 3.7 million American jobs from the U.S. economy from 2001 to 2018.

Late last week, Biden’s U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Katherine Tai announced that after an extensive review process on nearly 550 China-made products subject to U.S. tariffs, the administration would eliminate tariffs on 352 of those products.

The China-made products that will escape U.S. tariffs thanks to Biden include breast pumps, solar water heaters, garage door openers, X-ray tables, and thermostats, as well as food products from China such as crab meat, Dungeness crab, and Alaskan sole.

And where were the Democrats as these deals were being cut? Well, quite a few of them were in the background, cheering Biden on. Per Breitbart reporting, numerous Republicans were part of a bipartisan consortium urging Biden to stop protecting American manufacturing. The Republicans include Representatives Darin LaHood (R-IL), Jackie Walorski (R-IN), Ron Kind (D-WI), Suzan DelBene (D-WA), Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), Burgess Owens (R-UT), Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY), Ken Buck (R-CO), Young Kim (R-CA), and Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH).

How can Americans afford to survive in today’s economy? The cost of everything is going through the roof, and wages are stagnating amid rampant inflation.
