President Joe Biden’s Cuban-born border chief Alejandro Mayorkas is welcoming a massive Cuban migration into the United States, just as Cuba’s communist government is letting pro-democracy protestors leave the island prison.

In March, “more than 32,000 Cubans were taken into U.S. custody along the Mexico border, double the number who arrived in February, ” says a report in the Washington Post.  The government “is on pace to apprehend more than 155,000 Cubans during the current fiscal year, records show, nearly four times the 2021 total and a twelvefold increase over 2020.”

“Almost everyone from the younger generations is leaving … [it is] a stampede,” Maria Victoria Gonzalez told the Washington Post.

“Bray Perez, a 19-year-old Cuban university student, is fast losing friends to a growing wave of migration off the island,” Reuters reported on March 17. “Every time I go home, I find that 10 people have left … It’s hard to get up in the morning and know I’m not going to see them anymore,” he added.

The migrants are flying into Nicaragua and then traveling by road through Mexico to the U.S. border, which is being opened to Cuban migrants by border chief Alejandro Mayorkas.

“I don’t think he has a secret pro-Cuban [government] agenda,” said Mark Krikorian, director of the Center for Immigration Studies. “But that’s the actual effect of his policy.”

Mayorkas was born in Cuba, but his parents were invited by Americans to live in the United States in 1960 because Cuba’s communist government stole private property and murdered opponents.

Mayorkas still identifies as an immigrant and is using his job — he is secretary of the Department of Homeland Security — to maximize the inflow of poor migrants into Americans’ homeland.

That multinational flood is suppressing Ameicans’ wages, spiking their housing costs, and helping keep millions of Americans out of the workforce.

Under the Title 42 border rules, Mayorkas has full authority to expel the migrants — even if their dictatorial government refuses to take them back. But, “according to preliminary data obtained by The Post, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has only deported 20 Cubans in the past five months, and just 95 during the 2021 fiscal year,” the Washington Post reported.

Mayorkas also has a limited authority to allow Cubans into the United States under a so-called “parole” exemption to normal border rules. The authority was created by the Cold War-era Cuban Adjustment Act of 1966, and it also allows paroled Cubans to get fast-track green cards and then citizenship.

In May, the U.S. Embassy in Cuba will reportedly begin accepting requests from Cuban parents to visit their emigrant children in the United States. Many may hope to stay in the United States to benefit from much better healthcare programs.

Mayorkas’s welcome for migrants is “in effect, a dictatorship support program” for Cuba’s dictatorship, said Krikorian. “The communists in Cuba use immigration the way other oppressive regimes sometimes do — to release some of the built-up steam, built-up discontent … as a way to maintain their hold on society,” he told Breitbart News.

“Our immigration policy has had negative effects on various countries in different ways for years and years,” said Rosemary Jenks, director of government relations for NumbersUSA. For example, “by bringing all of the motivated and educated and resourced people from a very poor country to the United States, that harms that [poor sending] country,” she said.

U.S. government policies — including loose borders — have extracted at least 15 million young, hard-working people from Mexico and Central America. Once in the United States, the migrants are used as workers, consumers, and renters. The population transfer hinders economic trade with the United States and makes it more difficult for the migrants’ home countries to grow out of poverty and chaos.

“The compassionate thing to do is to reduce that flow,” Jenks said.

The emigration also generates cash for Cuba’s communist government once the migrants send U.S. wages back to their families, he said. “It’s become easier and easier over the years to send remittances from the United States to Cuba, and obviously, the Cuban regime benefits in a variety of ways from that money,” he said, adding that some of the welfare aid from the federal government to Cuban migrants will end up in Cuba.

Cuba’s autocrats are facing rising protests, according to an April 5 report in the Miami Herald. The article was headlined More than 46,000 Cubans, biggest wave in years, have arrived in the U.S. in five months,” and it said:

With a soaring inflation rate, widespread shortages of basics and little prospects for economic recovery from the impact of the pandemic, Cuba topped the worldwide “misery index” in 2021, compiled annually by John Hopkins University economist Steve Hanke. After widespread protests last year seeking regime change and improved living conditions, the government made some minor reforms to the private sector with little effect on the larger economy, which follows a centralized socialist model.

Cuban authorities also launched an all-out assault on civic liberties, passing decrees and legislation further restricting freedom of expression and other civil rights while arresting more than 1,400 people, including several minors, for participating in the islandwide protests last July 11. Harsh sentences meted out to the protesters have also sent a chilling message, and many young Cubans are seeking to start a new life elsewhere.

“The Cuban economy is in a deep crisis,” said Camilo Condis, a young Cuban entrepreneur who co-hosts the podcast El Enjambre, Spanish for swarm. “Although it is true that the COVID-19 pandemic and the [U.S. ] sanctions have negatively affected the economy, the Cuban government has not taken any measures to promote development within the country and continues to bet on a failed centralized economy.”

But Mayorkas is not specifically trying to help the communist regime that pushed his parents into exile, said Krikorian:

He is, in fact, helping the Cuban regime, but he’s helping every other regime that wants its discontented population to emigrate. I can’t imagine Mayorkas’ actions are in any way targeted toward Cubans — he’s unwilling to enforce the [U.S.] immigration law against anybody.

Migration advocates welcomed the additional inflows — and jeered at advocates for reduced migration.

The Washington Post reported that the poor Cubans are borrowing funds to pay the smugglers’ networks in the expectation that they will travel to Nicaragua, then Mexico, then across the U.S. border, and into U.S. jobs.

Cubans “are smart and they’ve concluded that it’s worth it to borrow the money to get to the United States,” Krikorian said. “What that does is benefit smugglers, benefits the communist regime, benefits the migrants themselves — and the losers are American workers and American taxpayers.”

Since at least 1990, the D.C. establishment has used a wide variety of excuses and explanations — for example, “Nation of Immigrants” — to justify its policy of extracting tens of millions of migrants and visa workers from poor countries to serve as workers, consumers, and renters for various U.S. investors and CEOs.

The self-serving economic strategy of extraction migration has no stopping point. It is brutal to ordinary Americans because it cuts their career opportunities, shrinks their salaries and wages, raises their housing costs, and has shoved at least ten million American men out of the labor force.

Extraction migration also distorts the economy, and curbs Americans’ productivity, partly because it allows employers to use stoop labor instead of machines.

Migration also reduces voters’ political clout, undermines employees’ workplace rights, and widens the regional wealth gaps between the Democrats’ coastal states and the Republicans’ Heartland states.

An economy built on extraction migration also alienates young people and radicalizes Americans’ democratic, compromise-promoting civic culture because it allows wealthy elites to ignore despairing Americans at the bottom of society.

The economic strategy also kills many migrants, exploits poor people, splits foreign families, and extracts wealth from the poor home countries.

The extraction migration policy is backed by progressives who wish to transform the United States from a society governed by European-origin civic culture into a progressive-led empire of competing identity groups. “We’re trying to become the first multiracial, multi-ethnic superpower in the world,” Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), told the New York Times on March 21. “It will be an extraordinary achievement … we will ultimately triumph,” he insisted.

Not surprisingly, the wealth-shifting extraction migration policy is very unpopular, according to a  wide variety of polls.

The polls show deep and broad public opposition to labor migration and the inflow of temporary contract workers into jobs sought by young U.S. graduates.

The opposition is growinganti-establishmentmultiracialcross-sexnon-racistclass-basedbipartisanrationalpersistent, and recognizes the solidarity that Americans owe to one another.

The Need for a More Merit-Based
H-1B Selection Process

Title 42 and the Biden Administration’s Plan to Wave Migrants In

Washington, D.C. (April 7, 2022) –  Every spring, the H-1B lottery for “temporary” white-collar workers takes place. The H-1B visa program is often referred to as a program exclusively for the “best and brightest”, but the overwhelming majority of the 85,000 visas go to alien workers at the two lowest prevailing wage levels. Why would the best and brightest work at a steeply discounted rate?

The Trump administration attempted to make the program more merit-based through rulemaking.  Candidate Joe Biden endorsed the rule in his platform, calling for a more merit-based immigration system. Yet the Biden administration killed the change despite it being a final rule, having gone through the notice and comment period, and having already been published and scheduled to take effect.

Robert Law, the Center’s director of regulatory affairs and policy and a former director of policy at USCIS, discusses how the Trump administration sought to revise the H-1B selection process by allocating H-1B visas based on the highest skills and wage level rather than at random, and describes how the H-1B program will now once again be inefficiently administered by allowing the lowest qualified foreign workers to capture the majority of the visas.

Using the H-1B rule as an example, Law describes the broader Biden administration’s strategy to bypass the Administrative Procedure Act (APA) requirements to neuter regulations it dislikes – a new and growing form of lawfare. But he also provides suggestions of potential safeguards that could be adopted.

In his closing commentary, Mark Krikorian, the Center’s executive director and the host of Parsing Immigration Policy, speaks to the potential impact of the Biden administration’s lifting of Title 42-- a public health measure that allows DHS to quickly expel illegal migrants without a hearing—on May 23. DHS estimates that as many as 18,000 migrants could be apprehended a day after Title 42 ends. How will the Biden administration handle the expected surge? Listen to Krikorian’s prediction - the administration will not halt the surge; rather, they will use a recently crafted regulation to launder it by immediately granting asylum to hundreds of thousands who jump the border.

An automatic word monitor in a new Amazon worker chat app will ban a variety of words and phrases, such as “union,” “fairness,” “pay raise,” “slave labor,” and “master,” among other terms, according to internal documents obtained by the Intercept.

Amazon will block and flag employee posts on an internal messaging app that the company deems problematic, according to internal company documents obtained by the Intercept. The app is still in the planning phase and has not yet been launched.

The word “restrooms” is reportedly on the list of censored words — following reports of Amazon warehouse employees feeling the need to urinate in trash cans and bottles in order to avoid being scolded over bathroom breaks.

“Our teams are always thinking about new ways to help employees engage with each other,” Amazon spokesperson Barbara M. Agrait told the Intercept. “This particular program has not been approved yet and may change significantly or even never launch at all.”

Late last year, Amazon held a meeting where top executives talked about creating an internal social media app that would allow employees to praise their co-workers’ performance by giving them “Shout-Outs,” a source told the Intercept.

The goal of the Shout-Outs was foster happiness and productivity among Amazon employees, according to Head of Worldwide Consumer Business Dave Clark.

But Amazon officials also discussed what they called “the dark side of social media,” and therefore decided to actively monitor posts in order to ensure a “positive community.”

So an “auto bad word monitor” was put together, which included a blacklist that would automatically block employees from sending a message that contains profane or inappropriate words.

But profanities were not the only words added to the blacklist, reports the Intercept.

Some of the other words and terms to be added to the blacklist included the following, according to documents reviewed by the outlet:

Accessibility
Bullying
Coalition
Committee
Compensation
Concerned
Diversity
Ethics
Fairness
Favoritism
Fire
Freedom
Grievance

Amazon, however, denies that “many” of the words mentioned would be blocked on the internal messaging app.

“If it does launch at some point down the road, there are no plans for many of the words you’re calling out to be screened,” the Amazon spokesperson insisted. “The only kinds of words that may be screened are ones that are offensive or harassing, which is intended to protect our team.”

Last week, Amazon workers at a warehouse in Staten Island, New York, voted to unionize — a first for the company.

Democrats, Big Tech Billionaires Unite to Keep DACA Illegal Aliens in U.S.

Democrats and billionaire executives for giant tech corporations are urging the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to keep illegal aliens, enrolled in former President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, in American jobs.

In July, Judge Andrew Hanen ordered President Joe Biden’s administration to shut down the DACA program by blocking the federal government from allowing new applicants, illegal aliens who have not previously been enrolled, onto the program’s rolls.

Months later, in September, Biden’s DHS issued a draft regulation that would effectively preserve the DACA program that has allowed more than 800,000 illegal aliens to remain in the United States and hold American jobs since 2012.

In a letter to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Senate Democrats including Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Alex Padilla (D-CA), and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), along with a number of House Democrats, urged the Biden administration to move forward with the regulation and expand the program to include more illegal aliens.

The Democrats write:

To preserve family unity, we urge you to update the DACA threshold criteria to include individuals who had lawful status on June 15, 2012. One of the threshold criteria in the proposed rule is that DACA applicants must have “had no lawful immigration status on June 15, 2012, as well as at the time of filing of the request for DACA.” We ask that DHS to update these criteria to allow individuals who had lawful status in the United States on June 15, 2012, but subsequently lost such status by the time of their request, to qualify for DACA. This update could be accomplished by changing the above criterium to read: “had no lawful status at the time of filing of the request for DACA.” [Emphasis added]

We also encourage you to consider adopting additional changes to DACA eligibility requirements that would enable more Documented Dreamers to utilize the protection this program offers if the unlawful status requirement were revoked. Specifically, we urge you to consider removing the threshold criteria that require requestors to have continuously resided in the United States from June 15, 2007 to the time of filing of the request. We also support adjusting the dates in the threshold criteria to provide relief for individuals who arrived in the United States after 2007. These adjustments would help a greater number of Documented Dreamers access relief and avoid accruing unlawful status. [Emphasis added]

Likewise, executives at Amazon, Google, Cisco, the Intel Corporation, IBM, and Meta Platforms have sent a letter to DHS asking that DACA work permits be preserved and that Congress grant amnesty to DACA illegal aliens.

“DACA recipients help us innovate on behalf of customers and are a critical part of our diverse workforce,” the executives wrote. “… DACA recipients enrich our companies and the economy in different ways.”

Already, current immigration levels put downward pressure on U.S. wages while redistributing about $500 billion in wealth away from America’s working and middle class and towards employers and new arrivals, research by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine has found.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has repeatedly found that amnesty for illegal aliens would be a net fiscal drain for American taxpayers while driving down U.S. wages.

Every year, 1.2 million legal immigrants receive green cards to permanently resettle in the U.S. In addition, 1.4 million foreign nationals are given visas to take American jobs, while hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens enter the U.S. annually.

Bernie Sanders Silent as Corporations Look to Explicitly Grow Profit Margins via Limitless Immigration

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), a self-described Socialist, has remained silent as corporate special interests seek to dramatically shift the nation’s legal immigration system for their benefit.

Last month, House Democrats passed President Joe Biden’s filibuster-proof “Build Back Better Act” reconciliation package, which would blow the lid off legal immigration levels — explicitly to provide an unlimited pipeline of foreign workers to multinational corporations.

Specifically, the reconciliation package would allow corporations to utilize an expanded foreign worker pipeline through the employment-based green card system even as hundreds of thousands of American professionals and graduates seek jobs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) jobs.

In late October, Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) urged Sanders, who is chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, to oppose the reconciliation package for its “corporate carve-out for unlimited foreign labor” that includes “several breathtaking immigration provisions that have long been the crown jewel of corporate lobbying.”

Sanders has been silent, Hagerty told Breitbart News in an exclusive statement.

“It’s been over five weeks since I wrote to Senator Sanders about the corporate carve-out in the so-called ‘Build Back Better’ legislation that benefits Big Tech and harms American workers, and we still haven’t heard a single word of defense from him,” Hagerty said.

“If Senator Sanders is serious about supporting American workers like he proclaims, he should soundly reject this dangerous, hidden provision that would create an unending pipeline of foreign labor for Silicon Valley giants to lower wages and displace aspiring Americans,” he continued.

Sanders did not respond to a request for comment at the time of publication.

Breitbart News has reviewed lobbying records that detail the lobbying campaign from corporate giants like Amazon, Facebook, Intuit Inc, AT&T, Verizon, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Alphabet, Deloitte, the Microsoft Corporation, IBM, Accenture, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, and the Intel Corporation — all of whom would benefit significantly from the expanded foreign worker pipeline.

The corporations, as listed, file thousands of petitions to the federal government every year to secure employment-based green cards for their foreign visa workers who, more often than not, arrive in the U.S. through the H-1B visa program that has been used to replace American workers with cheaper foreign workers.

Amazon, this year alone, petitioned for nearly 3,000 employment-based green cards for their foreign visa workers and foreign nationals seeking to take high-paying white collar jobs. Microsoft and Google, likewise, petitioned for more than 3,300 employment-based green cards.
