Plurality Say They Are ‘Worse Off’ Financially than They Were One Year Ago

A plurality say they are “worse off” financially than they were one year ago in President Biden’s America, a YouGov/The Economist survey released this week found.

Overall, 45 percent said they are actively “worse off” financially than they were one year, ago, followed by 37 percent who said they are “about the same.” Just 11 percent said they are “better off.”

Responses vary along party lines, as most Republicans, 61 percent, and a plurality of independents, 48 percent, say they are “worse off” financially. A plurality of Democrats, 48 percent, said they are “about the same,” followed by 29 percent who are worse off.” Just 18 percent of Democrats said they are “better off” financially than they were one year ago under Biden’s leadership.

This could spell trouble for Democrats as voters head to the polls in November, as most identify the economy as a top issue. Specifically, 93 percent identify the economy as an important issue when deciding how to vote in the midterm elections, and of those, 64 percent said it is “very” important. A majority of Republicans, Democrats, and independents share those sentiments.  Overall, 53 percent rate the economy as “poor.”

What is more, 69 percent in the survey said they will either “definitely” or “probably” vote in the midterms, including a majority of independent voters.

The survey was taken June 25-28, 2022, among 1,500 respondents and has a +/- 3.2 percent margin of error.

It coincides with a recent YouGov/CBS News Poll which found that a majority of Americans are concerned about their ability to afford “day to day things” as gas prices remain high and the country endures 41-year high inflation.

Poll: Entire World ‘Unhappier, More Stressed’ Since Joe Biden Took Over – Especially Afghanistan

A poll released by Gallup on Tuesday found the world “sadder, more worried, and more stressed-out” in 2021 than the year before, pushing its “negative experience index” to a record high of 33 points in the first year of U.S. President Joe Biden’s term.

Gallup’s annual global bummer survey includes adult respondents from 122 countries. In 2021, 42 percent described themselves as “worried,” 41 percent as “stressed,” 28 percent as “sad,” and 23 percent as “angry.” 31 percent said they were in considerable physical pain.

Those figures represent a two-percent increase in worry and pain, plus one-percent increases in stress and sadness, over the year of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic. On the bright side, anger fell by one point.

Gallup also asks about positive experiences and found them slipping downward for the first time since 2017. Positive experiences include laughter, enjoyment, learning, respect, and feeling well-rested. Laugher increased two points and learning increased by one, but the others all slipped.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the abandoned people of Afghanistan felt especially miserable under their new masters, the brutal extremists of the Taliban. Not only are they sick, starving, and fearful for their lives, but Afghans are “losing the remaining joy they had,” and they were already the “least-positive country in the world,” although the Central African Republic posted the all-time lowest happiness score in 2017.

“The percentage of Afghans who said they felt enjoyment, smiled or laughed, learned something interesting, or felt well-rested the previous day all dropped to new record lows,” the survey found.

“Worry, stress and sadness soared to record levels in Afghanistan in 2021: 80% of Afghans were worried, 74% were stressed, and 61% felt sadness much of the previous day. Notably, no other population in Gallup’s 16‑year trend has ever reported feeling this much worry,” the pollsters reported.

Gallup suggested it is “even more imperative for policymakers to understand why the world is on this course and to look for ways they can change the path it is headed down,” although its analysts struggled to explain the global slide into misery, especially when many were expecting a rebound after the hideous year of the pandemic.

Some of the individual national results were easy to understand. For example, Lebanon topped the charts as the angriest country in the world, which is unsurprising given its comprehensively dysfunctional government, the bitter factional disputes that made it that way, and the miserable corruption and incompetence that blew half of Beirut to smithereens in 2020 – an atrocity for which no one has been held accountable two years later.

Gallup CEO Jon Clifton had three broad suggestions for improving global happiness: improving people’s sense of well-being at work, reducing their feelings of loneliness, and addressing global hunger. Unfortunately, there is every reason to believe global hunger will get worse, thanks to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Economic Confidence Crashes: 85% of Americans Say Economy is Getting Worse

The American public views the Biden economy as in worse shape than any time since February 2009, when the economy was in a deep recession, still staggering from the implosion of the housing bubble, and shocked by the financial crisis that had recently toppled major banks, government-sponsored mortgage companies, Wall Street firms, and insurance companies, a Gallup poll indicates.

Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index, which is a summary of Americans’ ratings of current economic conditions and outlook for the economy, plunged 13 points over the past month to minus 58. The index has a theoretical range from +100 if all respondents describe the economy in positive terms and think it’s improving to -100 if all describe it in negative terms and think it’s worsening.

The June score is the lowest measured since minus 64 in February 2009. The all0time low was negative 72 in October 2008.

A shocking 85 percent in June say the economy is getting worse, up from 77 percent in May and only two points below of the record high hit in June 2008.

The percentage of Americans calling current conditions “poor” has risen eight percentage points in June to 54 percent, the first time a majority of Americans has seen conditions as poor since 2009. An additional 34 percent say current conditions are “only fair,” bringing the total negative assessment to 88 percent. Just 11 percent say conditions are good and less than one percent say conditions are excellent.

Mexico Gives Travel Permits to 3000 Caravan Migrants Headed to U.S.

Mexico’s government issued approximately 3,000 travel permits to members of a migrant caravan that arrived over the weekend in Chiapas. Rather than trying to stop the group, authorities issued permits and allowed them to continue north in a fragmented manner.

The caravan arrived at Mexico’s southern border on Friday and members of Mexico’s National Immigration Institute (INM) began issuing a series of travel permits that give migrants 30 days to travel freely through the country, a prepared statement from INM revealed.

Over the weekend, INM agents issued approximately 3,000 permits in their office in Huixtla, Chiapas. According to INM, the move was done to disrupt the caravan so individual migrants could move freely through Mexico.

The caravan has since disbanded but the migrants with travel permits will continue to make their way north. The U.S. government is seeing record-setting numbers of migrants reaching its southwest border. Cartel-connected human smugglers are actively promoting a notion that U.S. immigration courts are capable of handling swells of new migrant claims.

The move by Mexico’s INM is a direct contrast to prior approaches dating back to the Trump era, where authorities would meet caravans with riot shields and batons. Last year, human rights activists accused INM agents of using excessive force against migrants.

15 Signs That America Is In Much Worse Trouble Than We All Thought

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bafVveN1qlc

Today, we brought you some numbers that may be hard to digest. Even though most of us know by now that America is in trouble, many people out there don't have any idea of how deep in trouble we really are. Offense rates are shooting up tremendously right now. As the cost of basic necessities escalates, more people are stealing to feed themselves today than in any other period in the past decade. Gas theft rates are skyrocketing, as prices rise above the $5-dollar-mark. Since January, the number of carjackings has gone up by over 300% in some cities. Officers say that it's not just a few gallons being siphoned from vehicles. Now, thieves are pumping thousands of dollars' worth of fuel from gas stations and selling it for a profit. CNN reported that, in Orlando, Florida, authorities are looking for two people who they say stole more than 1,000 gallons of fuel from a gas station. In Las Vegas, Nevada, highly modified vehicles are being used to steal tens of thousands of gallons from local gas stations. And in Greenville, South Carolina, several arrests for gas thefts have been made since January. Last week, in North Carolina last week, almost 400 gallons of gas were stolen by thieves who were able to bypass the payment system. The list goes on and on, and given that gas prices are expected to continue to rise, we’re going to see many more similar cases happening until the end of the year.
