Joe Biden Offers Border Giveaway to Stop Venezuela’s Migrant Flood
President Joe Biden is offering a huge giveaway of citizenship to at least 24,000 Venezuelans in the hope of deterring the rising flood of illegal migrants.
The plan offers the huge prize of legal status, work permits, and eventually, citizenship, to 24,000 Venezuelans who apply at U.S. embassies instead of migrating up to the U.S. border.
The colossal giveaway is paired with a threat of Title 42 expulsion back to Mexico for the Venezuelan migrants who walk across the mostly open U.S. border in search of jobs and a U.S. residency.
The policy was announced Wednesday afternoon.
The announcement comes three weeks before the mid-term election and 21 months after Biden triggered — and welcomed — a cross-border flood of roughly 200,000 Venezuelan illegal migrants into Americans’ workplaces, homes, and society.
“Those who follow the lawful process will have the opportunity to travel safely to the United States and become eligible to work here,” said a statement by Alejandro Mayorkas, Biden’s pro-migration, Cuban-born head of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The statement said:
Venezuelans approved via this process will be authorized on a case-by-case basis to travel to the United States by air directly to an interior port of entry, thus relieving pressure at the border. Once in the United States, they will be eligible to apply for work authorization.
Venezuelans who travel by land, however, supposedly will be blocked by the Title 42 border protections that Biden’s deputies sought to cancel earlier this year. The DHS statement continued:
Effective immediately, Venezuelans who enter the United States between ports of entry, without authorization, will be returned to Mexico.
The two-sided plan will only be implemented if Mexico helps to block Venezuelan migrants, the statement said:
The United States will not implement this process without Mexico keeping in place its independent but parallel effort to accept the return of Venezuelan nationals who bypass this process and attempt to enter irregularly.
The statement did not reveal the quid-pro-quo deal for Mexico’s agreement to take over the task of protecting U.S. workers from cheap, imported, illegal labor.

In September, 30,000 more Venezuelans were welcomed across the U.S. border by Biden’s deputies. That number is rising rapidly because the arrivals are using cell phones to boast of their new lives and wages to their penniless, at-home peers.
The new Venezuelan giveaway will be worth perhaps $24 billion to the 24,000 winning Venezuelans and their families. The estimate is based on the EB-5 program which effectively sells family packs of green cards to wealthy foreigners who lend $1 million to U.S. investors, such as current investors in New York real estate.
The plan is also a giveaway to U.S. businesses because it requires Venezuelans to get sponsored by U.S. residents, such as companies. This means that employers will be allowed to reject Americans — such as homeless dropouts or ex-convicts — and instead hire embassy-approved, skilled Venezuelans at very low wages. The Venezuelans will know they must remain docile and diligent to earn the dangled, government-funded citizenship bonanza for themselves and their families.
But there are many gaps in the Mayorkas plan.
The statement does not say whether officials will cap the giveaway at 24,000 Venezuelans. Prior drafts of the plan reportedly offered similar giveaways to many Cubans and Haitians.
Biden’s officials told media outlets that he can award legal “parole” status and work permits to the 24,000 Venezuelan migrants. If valid, the claim would allow the White House to shatter Congress’ annual limits on legal migration. But the claim is legally suspect.
Biden’s threats and promises may do nothing to stop the Venezuelan migrants now in transit from multiple countries in South America. That migrant population could well exceed 50,000 migrants. They likely are determined to push past Mexico’s corrupt police forces and then overwhelm Biden’s weak border defenses.
The chance of overwhelming the U.S. border force is significant. Breitbart News reported on October 12 that only 1,000 Venezuelans will be returned each day:
The [return] plan will unfold with 200 Venezuelan adult migrants returned daily at each of five crossing points. Migrants will be returned through the Rio Grande Valley, Del Rio, El Paso, Tucson, and San Diego Sectors of the Border Patrol. The source says the agency plans to add adult migrants from Cuba and Nicaragua to the plan as soon as possible.
The migrants’ hopes will be boosted by a Washington Postarticle on the new policy, which noted that “Venezuelans who aren’t ‘expelled’ to Mexico under Title 42 would continue to be allowed to enter the United States.”
Migrants also know that once they sneak across the U.S. border, they will not be sent home. Biden’s progressive officials believe their “equity” agenda overrides their legal obligation to deport migrants who seek the jobs and housing held by better-off Americans for jobs and housing.
Once the U.S. election is over, Biden and Mayorkas may drop their unwanted deportation plan. “The ability to send them [the migrants] back to those states is not rational,” Biden said in September.

So far, Biden’s pro-migration allies have raised little complaint about the pre-election plan.
The DHS statement does not explain why the election-eve plan to import more Venezualan economic migrants would be popular among voters.
Mayorkas’s Venezuelan migrants are a direct pocketbook threat to U.S.-born working-class whites, blacks, and Latinos, most of whom are already seeing their wages drop because of Biden’s mass migration and inflation.
Polls show there is a near-consensus among native-born Americans against the government-aided corporate extraction of cheap labor for use in Americans’ jobs and workplaces. That consensus has crashed Biden’s poll ratings on migration, so boosting the turnout of GOP base voters.
Yet Democratic and GOP donors favor the long-standing, semi-secret government economic policy of Extraction Migration. The policy extracts millions of extra workers, consumers, and renters from poor countries for use by CEOs, investors, and government agencies.
This wealth-shifting policy ensures that few Republican candidates — and fewer Democratic candidates — will object to Biden’s giveaway during the midterm election.
The two-sided deal also cements the administration’s long-term plan to import more illegal migrants into Americans’ society. For example, Mayorkas’ DHS statement said:
Today’s actions are part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s ongoing efforts to reduce irregular migration throughout the Western Hemisphere … [and] is premised on pairing increased enforcement in response to irregular immigration with the development of lawful and safe pathways for qualifying [foreign] individuals.
“We are building an immigration system that is designed to ensure due process, respect human dignity, and promote equity,” Mayorkas tweeted in August 2021, as he sketched out his plans for easy-asylum rules that would encourage a mass migration of poor job-seekers into Americans’ homeland.
The new plan is also intended to reduce the huge death toll of migrants who walk across the Darien Gap jungle trail between South America and Central America. The Mayorkas statement said:
The United States is also planning to offer additional security assistance to support regional partners to address the migration challenges in the Darién Gap.
Panama is currently seeing more than 3,000 people, mostly Venezuelan nationals, crossing into its territory from Colombia via the Darién jungle each day.
The huge daily inflow — perhaps 90,000 each month — is expected to soon hit the U.S. border.
Many of the Venezuelans are poor economic migrants from safe countries, such as Chile and Colombia. Their economic goals legally disqualify them from getting political asylum in the United States. For example, Venezuelan migrant Lever Alejos spoke to Miriam Jordan, a reporter at the New York Times:
Solidly middle class in Venezuela, he was struggling to keep his machine-repair shop afloat amid the country’s economic collapse. In Venezuela these days, many people make just a few dollars a day.
…
Within days [of arriving in D.C.], Mr. Alejos found work in construction. By the second week, he was sending money home to support his 7-year-old son, Christopher, and saving to buy a cellphone. By late fall, he plans to move out of the shelter to his own place.
Biden’s migrants will push many marginal American workers out of jobs.
“The job losses forecasted by the Fed [in September] would by the end of 2023 raise the unemployment rate from its current level of 3.7% to 4.4%,” ABC News reported in September. “That outcome would add an estimated 1.2 million unemployed people, according to Omair Sharif, the founder of research firm Inflation Insights.”
“We’ve already seen construction work is slowing,” one economist told ABC News.

According to CBP, the number of migrants who have criminal convictions for Homicide and Manslaughter rose from 3 encounters in 2020 to more than 60 in 2022. Washington, D.C. – Widely cited studies on the immigration status of criminal offenders in Texas are incorrect, according to a detailed Center for Immigration Studies review of criminal justice data published by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). Prior research relying on that data to compare crime rates of native-born and foreign-born populations has misinterpreted important definitions and methodologies, leading to misleading claims, which were broadly disseminated by the media. Texas is among the few states that keep comprehensive data on the immigration status of arrestees and convicts. However, the data is constantly updated as new information becomes available. Some people are identified as illegal immigrants immediately upon arrest, while the immigration status of others is not discovered until they are in prison, if at all. Prior research did not account for the fact that if a convict is initially classified as “other/unknown”, he is not necessarily native-born; in fact, sometimes he is an illegal immigrant whose status will be discovered later. “Texas data is among the best we have to measure illegal immigrant crime. Properly understood, this data shows that robust immigration enforcement contributes greatly to public safety in Texas”, said Steven Camarota, the Center’s Director of Research and co-author of the report. “Preventing the entry of illegal aliens with a criminal past and removing noncitizens who commit crimes makes communities safer.” While this new analysis corrects previous studies, some caveats remain about this data. Since some illegal immigrants are not identified as such until they've been in prison for a number of years, the number of illegal immigrant convicts in Texas is still undercounted. This is especially true for those convicted of lesser crimes carrying shorter sentences, because they are often released before their illegal status is discovered. Moreover, it is not clear if the crime rate of illegal immigrants in Texas is representative of illegal immigrants nationally. Finally, the crime rate for illegal immigrants is tangential to the policy debate; whether crimes by illegal aliens are widespread or rare, each one should have been prevented by proper enforcement of the immigration laws.
About That Statistic Of “Immigrants” Committing Fewer Crimes Than Citizens
How many times have you heard the carefully worded claims from media “experts” about how immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than citizens? If you follow the news at all closely I’m guessing it’s been fairly often. Of course, the careful wording is required so they don’t have to invoke the phrase “illegal immigrants” (i.e. illegal aliens) and ruin their narrative.
A new study may help put that debate to rest. Results produced by the Federation for American Immigration Reform, using statistics from prisons and jails, found that illegal aliens are roughly four times as likely to commit crimes than citizens. (Washington Times)
Nearly 3 percent of illegal immigrants in Arizona end up in state prison or jail during the course of a year — four times the rate of U.S. citizens and legal residents, according to a study that uses federal reimbursements for prisons and jails to try to calculate one of the most important yet elusive statistics in the immigration debate.
In New Jersey, illegal immigrants are incarcerated five times more often, and rates on the West Coast are triple that of legal residents and citizens, according to the study by the Federation for American Immigration Reform.
FAIR based its calculations on federal government reimbursements to states and localities under the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program, which pays some of the costs for holding illegal immigrants in prisons and jails. To make the payments, the federal government must determine whether an inmate is definitely or possibly in the country illegally.
One important feature of this study is that it’s only looking at people who have definitely been convicted of a crime, not simply arrested or suspected. Also, as I noted above, this study draws a distinction between legal immigrants (who arguably have the lowest rate of criminal convictions) and illegal aliens. A previous Arizona study done by John Lott found the same thing, though with a smaller population sample.
It’s worth noting that this methodology has drawn criticism. The SCAAP data measures a different set of prisoners than other samples, leading some critics to question whether the results would be the same if we looked at the entire prison and jail population. I’ll leave that one for the statisticians to sort out, but overall trends still appear to conform with previous attempts at quantifying these numbers.
So what does that mean in terms of the current policy debate over illegal immigration, the wall and all the rest? Our friend Jeff Dunetz weighed in on that question and concludes that significantly reducing illegal immigration could only produce lower crime rates.
The above crime numbers and rates for illegal immigrants reflect offenses that would not have happened, or at the very least would be significantly reduced if the U.S borders were secured and illegal immigrants were not permitted into the country. Border Protection agents and Ice officials, the people on the ground, tell us that barriers work. The victims of those 121,984 crimes can thank liberals and Democrats for not taking action to prevent their victimhood.
Yet again, we should remind ourselves that these numbers fail to deal with the underlying fact that every illegal alien is committing a crime simply by being in the country. In that sense, the crime rate among illegals is technically 100% before you even begin counting other violations of the law. But that sort of view is considered heresy on the left and in much of the media these days.
One giant thing that separates us from the animals is the fact that we separated ourselves from the animals. Or rather, we put ourselves above them. Some of us call it "the image of God," and others of us call it "evolution," but somewhere in the unsearchable wastes of time, we started talking about what makes us us, and the fact that we were talking about it is what made us.
We know that other animals fall in love and talk and make war and have territories and build houses and have tribes and show off and use tools and sing songs and pass on traditions and fight over women. We've been watching them too long to think otherwise – which is another great reason we separate ourselves. Nobody knows whether a dog thinks about being a dog or about other animals in general; but we know that dogs know what dogs are and they know what people are and that no dogs have declared their independence from or superiority over people. At least not in writing.
But we've declared our independence from dogs, and the reason we declared it is because we declare our allegiance. To leave the animal kingdom was to join man's. It was the idea, not entirely foreign to many of the animals, that in order for men to survive, we had to get along with men, and that getting along meant acting a certain way. The act of joining this society was known as being "humane," and it fostered all our sociable instincts while denigrating our selfish ones.
Thus, we could have been polygamists like the silverbacks or free lovers like the Basset Hounds, but we decided (at one point) to be consensual and monogamous. We could have been more odious than the skunk and more poisonous than the adder, but we hoarded all our garbage into garbage dumps and took money from one another to flush our feces down the sewer. The tendency to kill over a tree was replaced with property rights. You build a nest and, other things going smoothly, you continue to live in it. All this allowed us to plan for the future, and our planning meant our investment, and our investment meant we grew comfortable. The entrance into humanity is an exit from natural liberty. We find our freedom in constriction – the shaping of our instincts along pre-defined and socially-accepted patterns. When we know what to expect, we know how to act. Every country is a differently shaped cage. Every nation is a different twist on a straitjacket.
All of this is to prevent suffering and war. War is what we call it when a man holds another at gunpoint for a wallet. It's what happens when a woman is kidnapped and raped, or her children are shot at, or she gets chased down her neighborhood by gangsters. It's when one people decides it can enslave another, or when one political party tries to terrorize another, or when a few rich mendecide they can brutalize the poor men. We've gotten so used to the idea of war as nations and armies and conquests that we forget, to our disgrace, that war happens every day in every society around the entire globe. Our police forces are little soldiers, and our violent criminals are the Hun. Society sometimes wars against other societies, but it is always at war primarily with itself. Every country bans robbery, rape, kidnapping, and murder because it wars against robbers and rapists and kidnappers and murderers. Every law is a pointed gun. Every legislator is a kind of general.
Donald Trump declared these things this week when he called our criminal aliensanimals. The public, or at least the loudest part of it, was upset. It was upset that anyone could be so inhumane as to call another man, and especially someone as "vulnerable" as a foreigner, an animal. To them, it hearkened back to the days when Jackson said the only good Indian is a dead Indian, or when Hitler gassed many of the Jews, or when the Jews exterminated the Canaanites. But in calling these robbers, murderers, rapists, and kidnappers animals, Trump was hearkening back to the beginning of the Enlightenment. He was merely declaring the most fundamental of social principles -- that in order to be a man you have to be somewhat humane, that the brotherhood of man and a system of law are both things you can quit, and that there are consequences to quitting them. The reason we don't let tigers run wild is because we're worried about what they'll do to the humans. John Locke said a pirate was a loose tiger, and there are only three things you do with a tiger. You put him in a cage, you put him back in the jungle, or you put him to sleep.
Those of us who can't handle the least brutal of these three options, deportation, aren't just avoiding the options. They're opting for your wives and children to be menaced by known foreign predators like MS-13 and then, supposing said criminals are ever caught, for you to pay for their cages. They believe that this option makes them humane. What it proves is that we have more animals running free in the United States than our president has suggested. First, there are the animals who threaten to maim us. Second, there are the animals who deny the Kingdom of Man and refuse to call the worst of us animals. It's my opinion that the second are more dangerous than the first.
The Washington Times states that many crimes committed by foreigners, and especially religious and ethnic minorities, are going unpunished to keep said criminals from deportation. Washington State no longer allows us to identify people by Social Security numbers, which allows our most dangerous criminals to simply change their identities. And our driver's licenses are no good to fly with because our identities, for the sake of illegals, aren't properly confirmed by the authorities.
Denver and other cities (and states such as California and Washington) have reduced many sentences to 364 days instead of a full year – which allows criminal aliens to avoid felony convictions and thus fly under the radar of the federal government. Prosecutors and judges all over the nation are charging people with lesser crimes simply to protect them from consequences. The ACLU is advising local authorities to keep information from federal authorities, which allows criminals to jump from one state to another. When this fails, crimes are not being charged simply because a man happens to be from another country.
According to The New York Times, California requires immigration status to be factored into criminal convictions – meaning lighter sentences for all kinds of illegals. A green card-holder from India gave a felony-worthy beating to his wife but was let off easy so he wouldn't get deported. In Boston, a green card-holder from Guinea-Bissau was given a 364-day sentence after robbing two banks and being a suspect in a double-murder. Another man was deported nine times before he returned to Edmonds, Washington, where he dragged a woman into an alley and raped her.
Our "morality" allows animals to commit atrocities. The men who separate us from the animals are reported in the news to be monsters. We've become so over-civilized that we can no longer carry on a civilization.
The powers that be in California’s Santa Clara County have forbidden contact sports—including San Francisco 49ers games, which will be held in Arizona—for the remainder of the season, due to rising Covid-19 cases. Such overreach in California’s sixth-largest county, justified by claims to enhance public safety, is ironic, given Santa Clara’s lax sanctuary policies, which have recently resulted in tragic deaths.

Church in San Jose. The suspect, Fernando De Jesus Lopez-
Garcia, has been in and out of prison, but Santa Clara County’s
sanctuary policies prohibit any cooperation between local officials
and federal immigration authorities. ICE has issued multiple
requests for his detention, including one last summer, when he
was sentenced to 327 days in prison for inflicting corporal injury
on his spouse. Though Lopez-Garcia has a criminal record that
also includes convictions for assault with a deadly weapon,
battery of an officer, and vandalism, local officials were barred
from letting ICE know when he was in custody.
This wasn’t the first time that the county’s sanctuary policy has cost lives. Last year, Carlos Eduardo Arevalo Carranza, a previously deported gang member and illegal alien from El Salvador, beat and stabbed Bambi Larson to death in her home. Carranza had convictions for possession of methamphetamine, false imprisonment, and burglary at the time of the murder.

A 2015 report found that the Santa Clara County jail housed the most criminal aliens whom ICE was seeking to deport of any correctional facility in the country.
Bambi Larson’s murder caused a public uproar, but three months later, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to uphold the county’s sanctuary policy. The supervisors were “playing politics,” San Jose Police Officers Association President Paul Kelly said.
After last month’s killings, will Santa Clara officials do the right thing and amend their sanctuary policy? Don’t look for the media to build momentum for change. The Associated Press and the New York Times mentioned that a suspect had been arrested but didn’t even give his name, let alone indicate his immigration status. Several local news outlets, including the East Bay Times and the San Francisco Chronicle, downplayed the immigration angle and suggested that the real issue was homelessness, since Lopez-Garcia and four of his five victims were “unhoused people.”
The media tend to avoid or minimize inconvenient stories that highlight the problems with local sanctuary policies. Take, for example, the case of Ariana Funes-Diaz, a 14-year-old girl who was stripped naked, beaten with a baseball bat, then stabbed to death with a machete. Her assailants, a pair of teenage MS-13 gang members who had recently entered the country from El Salvador, threw her body in a creek. One of Funes-Diaz’s accused murderers crossed into the United States in December 2015 with his family, who claimed asylum but didn’t show for their hearing. An immigration judge ordered his removal in March 2017. The other assailant was taken into custody as an unaccompanied minor in August 2016 but was later released to a family member.
A year before they killed Funes-Diaz, the pair were arrested on murder, armed robbery, and other charges in a separate case but were never deported because Prince George’s County, Maryland also has a sanctuary policy. Most national media outlets ignored the story. Like Santa Clara County and many other localities, Prince George’s takes a soft stand on criminal aliens, while cracking down hard on churches, businesses, and others violating strict Covid regulations.

A little-noticed bullet point in his platform calls for the reversal of Section 287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which allows for cooperation between local law enforcement and ICE.
A 2017 Harvard-Harris poll showed that 80 percent of Americans oppose the sanctuary city concept. Kamala Harris Put Criminal Illegal Alien in Jobs Program Before He Brutally Assaulted Young Woman
While serving as San Francisco’s district attorney, Democrat vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris, provided illegal aliens convicted of crimes with jobs, one of whom went on to brutally assault a young woman.
“Harris put a drug dealing illegal alien into a jobs program instead of prison,” President Trump said during a rally in Pennsylvania on Thursday. “Four months later, the illegal alien robbed a 29-year-old woman, mowed her down with an SUV, and fractured her skull.”
The case Trump refers to started in 2008 when illegal alien Alexander Izaguirre, then 20 years old, pled guilty to selling cocaine but avoided jail time. Instead, Harris placed Izaguirre into her “Back on Track” jobs program.
The Back on Track program allows those 18 to 30-years-old to plead guilty to drug felonies so long as they agree to spend a year in the jobs program, living where they choose.
Months after being placed into Harris’s Back on Track program, Izaguirre robbed then-29-year-old Amanda Kiefer before jumping into an SUV to run her over. Kiefer had been walking to a restaurant with a friend at the time.
The vehicle Izaguirre had jumped into sped toward Kiefer to mow her down, but the woman landed on the hood of the car. That’s when the driver slammed on the brakes, throwing Kiefer to the ground.
Kiefer, eventually taken to a nearby hospital, bled from her ear and had a fractured skull.
Izaguirre was just one of many illegal aliens — the total count is not known — who were convicted of drug crimes before Harris allowed them to escape jail time and gave them jobs instead. The Los Angeles Timesreported in 2009 of the case:
He had avoided prison when he was picked for a jobs program run by San Francisco Dist. Atty. Kamala Harris, now a candidate for California’s top law enforcement post. In effect, Harris’ office had been allowing Izaguirre and other illegal immigrants to stay out of prison by training them for jobs they cannot legally hold. [Emphasis added]

“If they’ve committed crimes and they’re not citizens, then why are they here?” Kiefer asked. “Why haven’t they been deported?” [Emphasis added]
Not until a year after Kiefer’s assault did Harris acknowledge that her Back on Track jobs program for convicted criminals had provided jobs to illegal aliens. Once she learned of their inclusion, Harris allowed illegal aliens to finish their time in the program.
“The immigration issue, as it relates to the Izaguirre case, obviously is a huge kind of pimple on the face of this program. I don’t mean to trivialize it, nor do I mean to cover it up,” Harris told the Times.
While supportive of deporting Izaguirre from the U.S. at the time, Kamala is now campaigning as Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden’s running mate on a platform promising to halt all deportations for their first 100 days in office, regardless of an illegal alien’s criminal history.

J.D. Vance Hammers Tim Ryan: Ohio Girl Would Not Have Been Raped by Illegal Alien If You Had Done Your Job
Republican J.D. Vance hammered Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) on the issue of illegal immigration and crime during Monday evening’s debate for the Ohio Senate race.
As Breitbart News has chronicled, 27-year-old illegal alien Gerson Fuentes was arrested and charged in July with raping a girl in Columbus, Ohio who then became pregnant. The case was cited by President Biden — after the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade — because the girl traveled to undergo an abortion on June 30 at six weeks pregnant.
During the debate, Vance said he supported exemptions to abortion in cases of rape and incest. Those exemptions allowed the Ohio girl to undergo her abortion in the state of Indiana.
At the same time, Vance blasted Ryan for his years-long support for mass immigration, lax border enforcement, and amnesty for illegal aliens, suggesting illegal alien crimes like the Ohio rape case are partially the result of lawmakers like the longtime Democrat congressman.
“You voted so many times against border-wall funding, so many times for amnesty,” Vance said. “If you had done your job, she would have never been raped in the first place.”
Fuentes had been able to live in the United States for at least seven years, working at a cafe despite his illegal alien status. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency told Breitbart News that they had not previously encountered Fuentes until his arrest for allegedly raping the girl.

Report: Democrat Los Angeles DA Failed to Prosecute Illegal Alien Now Accused of Murdering 2 Americans
Former Los Angeles, California, District Attorney Jackie Lacey (D) reportedly failed to prosecute the illegal alien, now accused of murdering two Americans in Las Vegas, Nevada, in a 2019 domestic violence case.
Late last week, 32-year-old Yoni Barrios, reportedly an illegal alien from Guatemala, allegedly went on a stabbing spree on the Las Vegas strip where he targeted eight random tourists and Americans while wielding a knife.
Barrios is accused of murdering 30-year-old Maris Mareen DiGiovanni and 47-year-old Brent Allan Hallett in the stabbing spree while leaving one victim in critical condition, two others in serious condition, and three more in fair condition.

According to court records detailed by the Daily Mail, Barrios had a criminal record in the sanctuary state of California, which seemingly shielded him from arrest and deportation by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.
Specifically, former Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey (D) failed to prosecute Barrios on a domestic violence charge in 2019, which could have locked him up for up to four years in prison.
Court documents exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com reveal that Guatemalan alleged undocumented migrant Yoni Barrios, 32, was charged in 2019 with criminal domestic violence by Los Angeles district attorney Jackie Lacey, who has since left office. [Emphasis added]
Had he been convicted, Barrios would likely have been imprisoned and deported and would not have been free to commit the senseless slaughter on the Vegas strip this week. [Emphasis added]
But Lacey failed to bring the case to court in time, and after 90 days elapsed the judge was forced to dismiss the case under California speedy trial laws, court records say. [Emphasis added]
Three years prior, in 2016, Barrios was prosecuted in Riverside County, California, for dangerous driving and driving without a license but was never handed over to ICE agents for arrest and deportation.
“Maris loved the beauty of life and lived it to [the] fullest without limitations. She was an authentic and caring friend, a devoted wife, a kick-ass sister, and a loving daughter,” DiGiovanni’s brother wrote in an online post. “… she was a light to the world.”
Barrios has been charged with two counts of murder and six counts of attempted murder. He remains in Las Vegas police custody without bail.
