A convicted killer is now wanted for another murder after he was freed from prison by Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner’s (D) Conviction Integrity Unit, which has the backing of Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman.

In 2021, Krasner’s Conviction Integrity Unit got a judge to throw out the murder conviction against 32-year-old Jahmir Harris who served eight years in prison. Harris was convicted for the 2012 murder of 45-year-old Louis Porter whom he was accused of shooting in the head in front of his 5-year-old son in a Philadelphia parking lot just two days before Christmas.

According to prosecutors, Harris murdered Porter over a $3,900 drug debt.

Last year, though, Krasner’s Conviction Integrity Unit — which Fetterman has called a “model” for the rest of Pennsylvania — helped get Harris’s conviction thrown out and he was subsequently freed from prison.

Now, Harris is wanted by Philadelphia police after allegedly being linked to the shooting and killing of 50-year-old Charles Gossett last month.

Fetterman, running against Republican Mehmet Oz for the state’s open United States Senate seat, has long praised Krasner’s Conviction Integrity Unit and has said the program should be implemented statewide to help free convicts from prison.

In a statement, Oz spokeswoman Brittany Yanick said Fetterman is partially responsible for Harris’s prison release last year and thus the murder of Gossett.

“John Fetterman praised Larry Krasner and his Conviction Integrity Unit, saying this type of organization is needed in every county in Pennsylvania,” Yanick said. “Now, this group and John Fetterman are responsible for releasing a convicted murderer who is wanted in yet another tragic murder.”

“When will this senseless violence stop? The answer is never if John Fetterman gets his way,” Yanick continued. “He wants to release one-third of Pennsylvania’s inmate population, continue pardoning convicted murderers, and let violent criminals run our streets. That’s too extreme for the U.S. Senate and downright deadly for Pennsylvania.”

Fetterman’s campaign has not yet responded to a request for comment from Breitbart News.

This month, Fetterman suggested that the movie The Shawshank Redemption justifies releasing convicted murderers from prison.

As chair of the Pennsylvania Board of Pardons, Fetterman helped free a number of convicted murderers from prison and has suggested freeing a third — roughly 13,000 — of all inmates in the state’s prison system.

In 2019, Fetterman successfully helped free a convicted second-degree murderer who was known as “a son of the devil” and who had allegedly threatened witnesses in the case with murder if they testified against him.

That same year, Fetterman voted to free from prison a convicted murderer who killed a man with garden shears and sought to have a hitman murder his accomplice. In June 2021, Fetterman was the sole vote to free a convicted murderer who killed an 18-year-old boy for heroin money.

Fetterman, as Breitbart News reported, has overseen the release of 13 convicted murderers while heading the Board of Pardons. Also, one of Fetterman’s appointees to the board sought to end mandatory sentences of life without parole for first- and second-degree murderers.

A Texas man accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend, causing her unborn baby to die, will not serve any time in prison.

According to KXAN, Johnny Charles Ebbs V took a plea deal with the Travis County Attorney’s Office with eight years of deferred adjudication on third-degree continuous family violence assault charges, meaning his charges could be dismissed if he does not violate his probation. However, if his probation is revoked or violated, he faces full punishment for the original charges.

In 2019, Ebbs and his girlfriend, LaShonda Lemmons, were engaged in a verbal altercation when he punched her in the stomach at some point, according to an arrest warrant. When doing so, he allegedly screamed, “F– you and this baby! You aren’t going anywhere!”

Three days after the assault, a doctor informed Lemmons that the baby had died following a “placenta abruption” caused by blunt force trauma.

During a court hearing on Monday, Lemmons also accused Ebbs of strangling her and pointing a gun at her.

Lemmon’s lawyer, Kelsey McCay, stated in court that although Ebbs is required to surrender his firearms due to a bond and restraining order, he allegedly had not done so. McKay also said that Ebbs would have to wear a GPS monitor for only six months while not serving any jail time.

When pressed by KXAN on why it settled for a deferred sentence, the Travis County Attorney’s Office stated, “additional evidence gathered through the course of the investigation made clear that the facts do not support the initial allegation.”

The majority of American voters blame “woke politicians” for the ongoing crime wave across the United States, a new poll reveals.

The latest Harvard/Harris Poll shows that 64 percent of voters say woke politicians are responsible for an increase in crime across American communities, while only 36 percent blame “other factors.”

Across political parties, a majority of voters blame woke politicians for rising crime. Among Democrats, for instance, 52 percent said woke politicians are responsible for the crime surge, while 75 percent of Republicans and 60 percent of swing voters said the same.

Likewise, the overwhelming majority of voters said crime is on the rise where they live, while small minorities believe it is dropping. About 2 out of 3 voters said crime is increasing — including 55 percent of Democrats, 81 percent of Republicans, and 60 percent of swing voters.

Only 11 percent of voters said they believe crime is dropping, while 24 percent said crime levels have remained relatively the same.

Harvard/Harris Poll

Senate conservatives have urged President Joe Biden’s administration to deploy federal resources to American cities and towns to aid with ongoing surges in violent crime.

A recent mid-year survey shows that violent crime across American cities increased by over four percent in the first six months of 2022. Compared to 2019 crime rates, some cities have seen a doubling in murders and a 36 percent increase in aggravated assaults.

In just the first six months of this year, Atlanta, Georgia, has seen homicides jump 20 percent, while murders in New Orleans, Louisiana, have increased by almost 40 percent. Cities in Texas, Maryland, Arizona, and Colorado are seeing higher murder rates this year compared to the same time last year as well.

The Harvard/Harris Poll was conducted online October 12 and 13, and surveyed more than 2,000 registered voters.

Chicago Police have issued community alerts to residents who live near Wrigley Field after four individuals were temporarily kidnapped and robbed at gunpoint over the weekend.

Authorities say the group of offenders force the victims into their vehicle, drive them to an undisclosed location, and rob them of their personal belongings, including cell phones and wallets. The offenders then order the victims out of the vehicle unharmed. Each incident occurred in the middle of the night over the weekend.

According to reports and police, the location of each abduction occurred at:

  • 3600 block of N. Cark Street on Sunday
  • 1100 block of W. Addison Street on Sunday
  • 3400 block of N. Clark Street on Sunday
  • 3500 block of N. Clark Street on Saturday

Police describe the suspects as two or three black men who stand at approximately 5’10 to 6’0 feet tall, weigh 150 to 170 pounds, and are believed to be between the ages 25 to 30 years old. They were noted to be carrying a handgun.

Victims have told police that the offenders were traveling in a gray sedan, possibly a Honda Accord, CWB Chicago reported.

Residents and business owners in the Wrigleyville neighborhood say the recent string of robberies has made them feel uneasy walking around, especially at night.

“It takes a lot of guts to do something like that,” Wrigleyville business owner Adam Feathers told WGN 9. “Everyone in the neighborhood has always been comfortable walking down the streets. At night now, we have to keep our eyes open and look behind our backs, which is unfortunate.”

Other business owners have noted they have had to upgrade their security, while their employees are forced to adjust some habits when leaving work.

“All of us spend more on security, private security, because police don’t have the resources right now,” bar owner Zach Strauss told NBC 5

“My employees don’t leave with cash anymore,” he added. “All their tips are on their checks. So the days with leaving with cash in their pocket are over.”

Democrat Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot weighed in on the string of abductions Tuesday, saying, “We continue to look for ways we can improve in safety all over the city.”

She then boasted how homicides in Chicago are down by 17 percent since last year and shootings are down by 19 percent. Although that statistic is accurate, in the 19th police district — where Wrigleyville is located — homicides are up by 200 percent, while shootings have remained unchanged. Robberies in the district are up by 48 percent, while overall major crime is up by 66 percent.

Across the Democrat-controlled city, overall major crime is up by 38 percent, with robberies up by 17 percent. Motor vehicle theft is up by a whopping 79 percent.
