NANCY: ONE MORE SOCIOPATH!
Tucker Carlson Presents a Look Back at Pelosi's ‘Greatest Hits’
After House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced Thursday that she will not seek a leadership role in the Democrat Party next session, Fox News Host Tucker Carlson presented a video “tribute” to Pelosi.
“We could’ve gone hours, we have that much tape, but we got it down to just a few moments. Here are just a few of her greatest hits,” the “Tucker Carlson Tonight” host said.
What followed was a montage of Pelosi:
- Angrily insisting she has “a heart full of love,” but spewing vitriol about Republicans and accusing them of killing children by building a border wall,
- Claiming that then-President Donald Trump and Republicans have “doggie-do” on their shoes,
- Displaying hateful, public contempt and disrespect for the president of the United States during official Congressional proceedings,
- Reading poetry,
- Laughing at her own “jokes,” and
- Attempting to coin a new phrase. (“Open, Biden”???)
Because Republicans won the House majority in this month’s midterm elections, they will be electing the next House speaker. As a result, on Thursday, Pelosi announced in a speech that she will be stepping down and turning party leadership over to a new generation of Democrats.
“Fired, angry, nasty, Pelosi, no class to the end,” television and radio commentator Mark Levin tweeted, reacting to Pelosi’s speech, linking to an article reporting that “Pelosi takes sly dig at Trump in farewell speech as speaker.”
Pelosi's Farewell Address: ‘I Stand Before You as…a Devout Catholic’
(CNSNews.com) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) went down to the House floor on Thursday to announce her farewell to the Democratic leadership and the American people.
In her speech, Pelosi announced that she would not be seeking reelection to the Democratic congressional leadership in the upcoming Congress.
In doing so, she described herself as a “devout Catholic” and a “patriotic American”
“My colleagues, I stand before you as Speaker of the House. As a wife. A mother. A grandmother. A devout Catholic. A proud Democrat,” said Pelosi. “And a patriotic American: a citizen of the greatest Republic in the history of the world.”
Pelosi retires as House Democratic leader after narrow election defeat
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Thursday that she would step down as leader of the Democratic Party in the House of Representatives, following the party’s loss of its majority by a narrow margin in the November 8 midterm election.
The Republican Party reached the 218 seats that constitute a majority of the House after the Associated Press and other media “called” a suburban district in northern Los Angeles County for Republican incumbent Mike Garcia Wednesday. The Democrats are expected to hold 211 seats, with six seats still remaining to be decided by late-arriving mail ballots or recounts.
Pelosi announced her decision to a closed-door meeting of the Democratic caucus Thursday morning, then publicly in a speech on the House floor a few hours later. The occasion was carefully choreographed, with Pelosi’s remarks followed within minutes by the declaration by House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer that he too would not be a candidate for leadership, but would, like Pelosi, remain in the House as a “rank-and-file” member.
The result is a generational shift in the House Democratic leadership. Pelosi is 82, Hoyer 83, and the third-ranking Democrat, Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, is also 82. They are set to be replaced by a trio already approved by the three outgoing leaders: Hakeem Jeffries of New York, who will be Minority Leader when the new House reconvenes; Katherine Clark of Massachusetts, who will be Minority Whip; and Pete Aguilar of California, who will be chair of the Democratic Conference.
Clyburn will shift to a lesser position in the leadership, assistant minority leader, where he will work with Jeffries. Both men are members of the Congressional Black Caucus. The new lineup was immediately hailed by congressional Democrats and the pro-Democratic sections of the media for its “diversity,” with a black man, a white woman, and a Hispanic man supposedly representing the variety of the American people.
In reality, no less than the predominantly white, male lineup in the Republican Party leadership, all the Democratic leaders are capitalist politicians committed to the defense of American imperialism and the interests of the American capitalist class, like Pelosi. All have been thoroughly vetted by corporate America and the military-intelligence apparatus, as Pelosi was during her long tenure on the House Intelligence Committee.
After entering politics as a prolific fundraiser for the Democratic Party in San Francisco, Pelosi first sought elective office in 1987, after the incumbent congresswoman in her district, Sasha Burton, died of cancer. She won a 15-way primary in the heavily Democratic city, and has been reelected 23 times against only nominal Republican opposition.
While having long been demonized by the Republican Party as an advocate of ultra-liberal and even radical policies, Pelosi was a vehement opponent of socialism and defender of the capitalist system, on which her family fortune, estimated at nearly $200 million, was based. The bulk of this money came in through the lucrative real estate investment firm run by her husband. Paul Pelosi was nearly killed by a pro-Trump fascist last month who invaded the family home looking for the congresswoman.
Nancy Pelosi’s power within the Democratic caucus was tied largely to her access to big money, as she raised hundreds of millions of dollars over the years to sustain Democratic candidates who had more limited resources. As she moved up the ladder in the Democratic leadership, this money-raising provided an edge, both in insuring that members voted the “right” way on critical issues, and in gathering support in intra-party contests.
Pelosi became minority leader in 2003, when Representative Richard Gephardt gave up that post to make an unsuccessful bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. When the Democrats won control of the House in 2006, largely due to popular opposition to the war in Iraq, Pelosi moved up to Speaker. She lost that position in 2010 after a Republican landslide, then regained it in 2018 after the Democrats benefited from popular revulsion against the Trump administration.
There are several key decisions made by Pelosi that underscore her commitment to the defense of American capitalism. In 2006, after the Democratic takeover of the House, she quickly scotched proposals to impeach Bush for lying about “weapons of mass destruction” in Iraq. She also insisted on full funding for the barbaric US military operations that continued in that country.
Pelosi played a critical role in passing the first major bailout of the financial system after the Wall Street crash that followed the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers in September 2008. The bailout was initially defeated by a right-wing populist revolt among Republicans, supported by many liberals. The second vote provided a majority for propping up the banks at the expense of the American people.
In 2010 came what Democrats and the media hailed as her finest hour: engineering the passage of the Affordable Care Act, after the death of Senator Edward Kennedy and the unexpected Democratic defeat in the election for his open seat cost the Democrats their 60-vote supermajority in the Senate. The only possible avenue for enactment of the ACA was for the House to pass the exact version of the legislation that had passed the Senate before Kennedy’s death, and Pelosi exerted the pressure required to block consideration of any amendments and pass the bill, then signed into law by President Barack Obama.
Despite the howls of congressional Republicans, the ACA was a right-wing bill that maintained the domination of private corporations—insurance companies, drug and medical device manufacturers, hospital chains—in the US medical system, and provided them a new market of tens of millions of customers whose payments were guaranteed by the federal government. There was not even a public “option” for patients, and the level of guaranteed care was both minimal and expensive.
While this was largely omitted in the admiring accounts of Pelosi’s career published Thursday evening in the corporate media, perhaps the most significant action she took during the Biden administration was her visit to Taiwan in August. She defied warnings from Beijing that this tacit act of recognition for the US-backed regime on Taiwan had a provocative and warmongering character. Pelosi went even further than the Trump administration in stoking up US-China tensions.
Despite this record of utterly conventional Democratic Party politics—all-out support for the profit system and US militarism combined with identity politics—Pelosi continued to be a hate figure for the Republican Party. Nearly all Republican representatives boycotted the session of the House of Representatives where it was known beforehand that she would announce her decision whether to remain as Democratic leader. This included Republican leader Kevin McCarthy, who is likely to replace Pelosi as House speaker in January.
The New York Times reported that, as part of his successful campaign for reelection as Republican leader, McCarthy promised a group of ultra-right Republican representatives, including fascist Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, that he would support an investigation into Pelosi’s role in the prosecution and imprisonment of those who attacked the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Greene has described the arrested and jailed members of the January 6 fascist mob as “political prisoners.” She also had previously declared on social media that “a bullet to the head” would be better than any election in removing Pelosi from power. In 2019, she said Pelosi was “guilty of treason … a crime punishable by death.”
These comments led to Greene’s being stripped of all committee assignments by the Democratic leadership of the House. McCarthy has said he will restore Greene to committee positions, reportedly including a seat on the House Oversight Committee, where, she said, Republicans “will be investigating and holding people accountable. There’s a lot of traitors and criminals that need to be held accountable.”
While the fascists escalate their threats of violence and retaliation, Senator Bernie Sanders, who served with Pelosi in the House of Representatives for 16 years, issued a statement that simply underscores his political unseriousness and distance from any genuine struggle to defend democratic rights and oppose the billionaires whom Pelosi served throughout her career. He tweeted his thanks for Pelosi’s “years of dedicated service. Speaker of the House is no easy job and you should be proud of how much you have accomplished for the American people.”
Breitbart Business Digest: Nancy Pelosi Headed to Stock Trading Hall of Fame; FTX Gets the Clown Emoji
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced Thursday that she would retire from House leadership. She has earned a spot in history for breaking barriers, succeeding in what was formerly a man’s world, and advancing a left-wing agenda more effectively than nearly any individual in American politics.
But the Breitbart Business Digest believes Pelosi’s career ought to be defined in a different way: She is the most infamous—and one of the most successful—stock traders of all time. Her personal wealth has soared to nine figures and beyond since the financial collapse of 2008. This is largely attributed to stock trades made by her husband, Paul; and those trades were often concentrated in businesses and industries propped up by Nancy’s political policies. As famously documented by Breitbart Senior Contributor Peter Schweizer, Nancy Pelosi’s stances shifted consistently as her family made money. Currently—and thanks in part to the Speaker herself—most, if not all, of this appears to be legal.
Pelosi is slow-walking an utterly reasonable (and necessary) ban on congressional stock trading. Something like that is almost guaranteed to become a part of the platform for any Republican seeking the White House in 2024—unless Joe Biden signs something into law along these lines first. Though she will remain in the Congress, at least for now, Pelosi’s tenure in leadership has come to an end. What does the future have in store for the soon-to-be former Speaker? We certainly hope it’s seminars, newsletters, or masterclasses on how to dominate the trading game while still soaring to historic heights at your day job.
Though his retirement is not confirmed, Brian Deese, Biden’s top economic advisor and a BlackRock alumnus, is reportedly looking for an offramp from his post as National Economic Council Director in 2023. He’s largely responsible for the Bidenflation and America’s reluctance to tap our own natural resources despite soaring energy prices. So, good riddance, but he’ll likely be replaced by someone equally as bad.
Also on Wednesday, the Philadelphia Fed released their factory activity index, and it showed a large and unexpected drop from already low estimates. This gauge measures manufacturing in the mid-Atlantic region. While a negative 8.7 number was posted in October, November’s number came in at -19.4 percent. The expectation was -6.0 percent. New orders also weakened from already low numbers. Given that inflation is continuing at a rapid pace, these numbers might be even worse than they appear on paper.
FTX’s CEO John Ray III (famous for restructuring Enron) referred to his new company as a “complete failure” with an “absence of trustworthy financial information.” The company’s bankruptcy filing, released today, made this saga even more surreal. Most of FTX’s digital assets have not been secured, and no one appears to know who the company’s biggest creditors are. But perhaps more amusingly and horrifyingly, the company was paying for its employees’ luxury housing, and disbursements were approved via personalized emojis in a company chat. As murky as things stand as of now, one thing is clear: FTX calls for a double clown emoji.
Good Riddance, Madame Speaker
Making sense of Nancy Pelosi's Leadership
Andrew Ferguson • November 17, 2022 12:45 pmQuite apart from the sympathy and horror every decent person feels over the attack on her husband, I for one am going to miss the old gal, as Nancy Pelosi slowly passes from power, with the announcement on Thursday that she will step down from House leadership. She’s had a good run, growing from a back-bencher to be a giant in the politics of her time. And as any comparable figure should, she leaves behind a trail of tokens—remarks and phrases and images—that future generations, if they’re moved to do so, can trace to find what there is to find of the real Nancy Pelosi.
Among these many tokens, let’s think of three. The most famous is the deathless remark she made not long before the House of Representatives passed the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in March 2010.
"We have to pass the bill," she said, "so you can find out what’s in it."
The sentence belongs on her monument, if she gets one. It was her answer to complaints that the ACA, as it quivered its way by peristalsis through the lower intestines of congressional subcommittees and closed-door mark-ups, had grown too cumbersome, too complicated for ordinary people to comprehend its effects or even its intentions.
She chose to answer the complaint by agreeing with it—and adding an implicit shrug: "What d’ya expect?"
The remark was so honest and transparent and true—"saying the quiet part out loud," we’d call it today—that her publicists in the press quickly tried to explain it away. Pelosi, they said, was merely making a point about the tide of public opinion, which ran against the ACA: Only when the bill had become law could the mass of little people be dazzled by the glories revealed within, and then change their opinion of it, from skepticism to gratitude.
But that explanation never stuck. With a single stroke, a mere 14 words, Pelosi summarized and exposed decades of congressional decrepitude, and moreover identified herself as a satisfied creature of it. The reflexive secrecy, the grandiosity, the servility to parochial interests, the endless longueurs that lulled the public to sleep, followed by blind, frenetic fits of legislative activity before the public’s attention could be roused—she was at once the master of this broken system and its servant, utterly complacent, utterly uninterested in its reform. Her party was rewarded in the next election with a group defenestration, losing their majority and 63 seats.
Pelosi does not strike an observer as a complicated personality. As with all gifted politicians her quest for power won’t tolerate psychological nuance or depth. But other facets of her character have been exposed at odd moments. She is famously the product of a political family. Her father and brother were both mayors of Baltimore in the ancien regime, when urban machines practiced a purely transactional politics that had no patience for ideological flights of fancy. To this day she remains more Baltimore than San Francisco, more party boss than party ideologist. The disdain she feels for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s squad of left wingers is undisguised. Her understanding of politics is sounder than theirs.
And yet, along with President Joe Biden, she has become an emblem—neither is articulate enough to be called a "spokesman"—for Catholic politicians willing, sometimes eager, to abandon the faith of their fathers and to cut their consciences to fit the fashions of an ever-evolving liberalism.
This became clear in a press-conference colloquy in 2013 between Pelosi and the eminent (and dogged) political journalist John McCormack. At the time the trial of the abortionist Dr. Kermit Gosnell was underway, despite the best efforts of the mainstream press to ignore it. McCormack asked Pelosi if there was a "moral difference" between Gosnell’s killing of 25-week-old babies outside the womb and the killing of 25-week-old babies in the womb by other doctors under the logic of "late-term abortions."
Pelosi doesn’t do "moral difference"—unless it is the moral difference between caring Democrats and selfish Republicans, a distinction she is happy to milk until the poor heifer collapses in exhaustion.
So in response to McCormack she reached first for the ad hominem.
"You’re probably enjoying that question a lot," she said. "I can see you savoring it."
Then she made an argument from authority—her own.
"I want to tell you something," she said, according to the CNN transcript. "As the mother of five children, my oldest child was 6 years old the day I brought my fifth child home from the hospital, as a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground to me when we talk about this. I don't think it should have anything to do with politics. And that's where you're taking it and I'm not going there."
The nonsequitur was pristine, completely unconnected to the subject at hand. It wasn’t much more than a jumble of words, amounting not to a moral case but a moralizing camouflage, an attempt to throw a flash-bang into the briefing room and get the hell out as quickly and painlessly as possible. But give her this much: As a "practicing and respectful Catholic," she has at least retained the grace to be unnerved by the pro-choice position her ambition has required of her.
When rubbed the wrong way, she can summon her own kind of clarity. My favorite instance, and our third and final token, was related in a recent biography by Molly Ball. In August 2014, during yet another crisis on the southern border, a Republican congressman named Tom Marino took the House floor to chide Pelosi, then the minority leader, for ignoring it—a sign of her weakness, he said.
"I did research on it," Marino said. "You might want to try it, Madame Leader. … That’s one thing you don’t do."
Outraged, Pelosi flew across the floor toward Marino, arms raised.
Now, we all have our readymade insults for people we find contemptible—from chucklehead to asshole and beyond. We tend to describe the opposite of what we see ourselves to be.
Pelosi uncorked her own favorite.
"You," she shouted at Marino, "are an insignificant person! You are an insignificant person!" Her colleagues, according to Ball, had to pull her away.
What a picture it makes! It is how I prefer to remember her, the first woman elected speaker of the House, a colossus in the politics of this century—ferocious in her pant suit, the back vents of the jacket flapping, the padded shoulders heaving, the tiny fists balled in anger and hoisted skyward. The image defines her long struggle against the great enemy insignificance, and more important, against all the little people who are themselves insignificant, and whose ranks—unhappily but finally—she now joins.

GOP Rep. Comer: ‘Joe Biden Was Actively Involved in Hunter’s Shady Business Dealings’
During Thursday’s broadcast of FNC’s “Special Report,” Rep. James Comer (R-KY), the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, argued President Joe Biden was aware of his son Hunter Biden’s “shady” business dealings.
Comer told host Bret Baier it was possible that was guiding Biden administration policy.
“What we proved today was, first of all, Joe Biden lied to the American people when he said he had no knowledge of Hunter Biden’s shady business dealings,” he said. “OK, that is a complete lie. He also denied having any financial benefit from — from Hunter Biden. What we have proven today is not only did he know about Hunter’s shady business dealings with our adversaries in Ukraine, Russia and China, but he also was going to be an active part of that. We showed an e-mail that Hunter Biden sent to a property owner just outside of Washington, D.C. when they were nailing down office space. And he said, I need three extra keys, one for his Chinese partner, who is closely aligned with CCP, one for Jim Biden, and one for Joe Biden.”
“So, there are also e-mails that show that Hunter Biden was involved, that his dad was going to be a 10% equity stakeholder,” Comer continued. “We know the Gilliar comments and the Bobulinski comments that both have identified Joe Biden as being the big guy who’s going to get a 10% ownership stake. So, Joe Biden was actively involved in Hunter’s shady business dealings. And maybe that’s why we’re getting such bad policy. We learned today that one of their business propositions was to try to get China’s foot in the door on the American natural gas industry. I think the American people need to know that. And is that — has that compromised this administration?”
In 2018 and 2020, Breitbart Senior Contributor and Government Accountability Institute President Peter Schweizer published Secret Empires and Profiles in Corruption. Each book hit #1 on the New York Times bestseller list and exposed how Hunter Biden and Joe Biden flew aboard Air Force Two in 2013 to China before Hunter’s firm inked a $1.5 billion deal with a subsidiary of the Chinese government’s Bank of China less than two weeks after the trip. Schweizer’s work also uncovered the Biden family’s other vast and lucrative foreign deals and cronyism. Breitbart Political Editor Emma-Jo Morris’ investigative work at the New York Post on the Hunter Biden “laptop from hell” also captured international headlines when she, along with Miranda Devine, revealed that Joe Biden was intimately involved in Hunter’s businesses, appearing to even have a 10% stake in a company the scion formed with officials at the highest levels of the Chinese Communist Party.
