San Bernardino County residents voted for officials to study the possibility of seceding from California as more grow increasingly tired of the state’s far-left policies.

The county approved the advisory ballot proposal, which was voted upon in November, earlier this week, the Associated Press (AP) reported. San Bernardino’s Board of Supervisors’ next step is likely to form a committee that will study if state and federal public funds were fairly distributed with local governments within the county.

Curt Hagman, the chairman of the Board of Supervisors, says there is “a lot of frustration” that San Bernardino residents have toward the left-wing governing policies of Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and the Democrat-controlled state legislature.

Residents in the county, and across the state, pay the highest taxes in the nation while also living under soaring rates of crimehomelessness, and high housing costs.

Many are also irate over the state’s COVID-19 policies, which saw public school students forced into remote learning early in the pandemic, while the state waw one of the last to discontinue the policy. Remote learning caused considerable academic setbacks for K to 12 students within the state, including negatively impacting younger students’ learning skills, Breitbart News reported.

As a result, droves of California residents and businesses have moved to states such as Arizona, Texas, Florida, and Nevada to escape the high taxes and the volatile political climate. From 2020 to 2022, California lost over 352,000 residents, according to the state’s Department of Finance statistics.

While registered Democrat voters outnumber Republican voters by 12 points, Newsom lost San Bernardino County by five points in the November gubernatorial election. Still, the incumbent governor easily went on to win reelection.

The county is the largest by area in California and the contiguous United States, stretching from the urban regions of the City of San Bernardino to the rural areas bordering Arizona and Nevada. Moreover, it is the fifth most populace county in the Golden State, with more than two million residents.

Attempts to secede and become the 51st state in the union are unlikely, as the proposal would require approval from the Democrat state legislature and Congress.

Although Hagman noted that he does not want to secede from California, he says he understands the voters may feel alienated from Sacramento’s policies, telling the AP, “It’s been a rough few years.”

Similar calls for secession from the coastal liberal enclaves of California have been made for years. In 2017, activists filed a lawsuit to create the “State of Jefferson” from 21 counties in the northern part of the state. However, every secession attempt from the state has been unsuccessful.

Gavin Newsom: Biden’s Migrant Flights a ‘Burden’ for Sanctuary State California

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) says President Joe Biden’s flights filled with border crossers and illegal aliens are particularly a “burden” for sanctuary states like his.

In an interview with ABC10 News, Newsom seemingly complained that California is having to foot the bill for hundreds of thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens arriving via buses and flights every month as part of the Biden administration’s expansive Catch and Release network. Newsom said:

The federal government is sending more and more flights, and more and more buses directly here to California because this state is doing what no other state’s doing and that’s absorbing and protecting and preserving our values and advancing them by doing health care screenings, and taking care of folks, and the more we do, the burden is placed disproportionate on us.

We’re already at capacity and nine of our sites. We can’t continue to fund all of these sites because of the budgetary pressures now being placed on this state and the offsetting issues that I have to address. [Emphasis added]

Newsom’s remarks come as he has helped drive illegal immigration to California with reinforcements to that state’s strict sanctuary policy that shields criminal illegal aliens from arrest and deportation, offering free taxpayer-funded health insurance to all 4.4 million illegal alien residents, and expanding the issuance of state IDs for illegal aliens.

According to Newsom, California is likely to be more overrun with border crossers and illegal aliens as the public health authority, known as Title 42, that has been used at the United States-Mexico border for years now is set to end in days.

“The fact is, what we’ve got right now is not working, and it’s about to break in a post-42 world unless we take some responsibility and ownership,” Newsom said.

Newsom also claimed Republicans are responsible for record-setting levels of illegal immigration under the Biden administration and suggested that amnesty for the nation’s 11 to 22 million illegal aliens is the best policy solution.

As of October, an estimated 1.4 million border crossers and illegal aliens have been released into the U.S. interior since Biden took office in late January 2021. This is in addition to more than 600,000 illegal aliens who are known to have successfully crossed the southern border.

‘About to Break’: Newsom Says Feds Are Overwhelming California With Immigrants

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D.) this week warned that California would experience an unsustainable flow of illegal immigrants once President Joe Biden reverses the Trump administration’s border policy.

"The fact is, what we’ve got right now is not working and is about to break in a post-42 world unless we take some responsibility and ownership," the governor told ABC News Monday.

Newsom’s comments allude to the Biden administration’s plan to next week lift Title 42, a Trump-era policy that allows law enforcement to quickly expel illegal immigrants. The governor also complained about the Biden administration’s decision to send "planes and buses to California full of migrants because of all the good work … the state is doing for the immigrant community," ABC News's Sacramento, Calif., affiliate reported.

Newsom's apparent criticism of Biden’s immigration moves is new for the governor known for tweeting condemnations of Texas and Florida, whose Republican governors have transported busloads of illegal immigrants to liberal enclaves like Martha’s Vineyard and Washington, D.C. Newsom also raised his national profile by fighting President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

Now, it seems, he will miss at least some aspects of Trump’s pandemic policy.

"I'm saying that as a father," Newsom said. "I'm saying that as someone that feels responsible for being part of the solution and I'm trying to do my best here."

Newsom added that he didn't mean "to point fingers."

Spokesmen for Newsom and the Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond when the Washington Free Beacon asked how many immigrants the federal government has sent to California this year.

The Newsom team did not give California reporters advance warning of his border visit, which ABC said was apparently only covered by national press.

EXCLUSIVE: Tens of Thousands of Migrants in Mexico Heading to U.S. Border, Says CBP Source

A Border Patrol intelligence alert warns the situation along the southwest border is expected to worsen as tens of thousands of migrants prepare to move to the United States border from southern Mexico. According to a source within CBP, the report, sent via official email, advises Border Patrol agents that more than 40,000 migrants in southern Mexico may soon head north.

The report, reviewed by Breitbart Texas, indicates more than 30,000 migrants are believed to be staged in the Mexican State of Chiapas along the Mexico/Guatemala border. The destination of these migrants was not revealed in the alert according to a source within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, not authorized to speak to the media.

According to the alert, migrants positioned in Chiapas are currently seeking travel documents from the government of Mexico that will allow them to begin the journey north and legally leave the Mexican border state. Absent the issuance of permits from Mexico’s National Institute of Migration (INM), the migrants will have to travel through the country illegally, risking enforcement action from INM or Mexico’s National Guard.

The same report warns of an additional group of 10,000 to 15,000 migrants in the Mexican state of Oaxaca may already be on the move. More alarming is the information indicating the entire group may be headed directly to Juarez, Chihuahua, directly across from El Paso, Texas. where the agency is struggling to manage migrant crossings at their current level.

Currently, the Border Patrol in El Paso experienced elevated migrant crossings during recent weeks. The surge forced street releases in the downtown area and left hundreds of migrants queued along the banks of the Rio Grande in near-freezing temperatures. Overcrowding at facilities and shelters in the area kept the migrants outdoors waiting for Border Patrol agents to receive and process them as space becomes available.

In El Paso, 7,400 migrants crossed into the border town over the last weekend. An average of more than 2,400 daily migrant crossings in a three-day period has exacerbated overcrowding at Border Patrol processing facilities and non-government shelters forcing some migrants to be released directly onto the city streets.

migrant crisis dashboard maintained by the city shows the average CBP daily migrant encounters dropped to 2,112 as of press time. The daily migrant releases into the city stand at nearly 1,400 per day. To alleviate the burden on the city, DHS resorted to increased contracted air transport to other border cities. As reported by Breitbart Texas, multiple flights conducted by ICE Air Operations branch moved migrants into Laredo in recent weeks.

A search of records for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Air Operations flights from El Paso to San Diego, California shows at least five trips occurred since Sunday. Multiple ICE Air Operations flights were routed from El Paso to Laredo and to Harlingen, Texas, throughout the week.

Contract carriers iAero Airways and World Atlantic Airlines, collectively conducted flights from El Paso using MD83 and Boeing 737 equipment. Each aircraft will carry at least 150 passengers.

According to the source, the additional surge of migrants will further complicate the agency’s ability to deal with an anticipated 16,000 to 18,000 migrants who will cross the border daily once the CDC Title 42 Emergency COVID-19 authority is lifted. The authority to quickly expel migrants from some countries amenable to the rule is set to expire on December 21.
