Beware — Michelle Obama's Book Launch of her 2024 Campaign
Don’t be fooled. In the promotional interviews for her new book, The Light We Carry, Michelle Obama insists that the book is simply her personal “toolkit” about how she deals with the challenges of “uncertain times.” No, The Light We Carry is not a self-help book. It is Michelle’s crafty attempt to position herself to be the Democrat nominee for president in 2024. In fact, it is Michelle’s second autobiography, a follow up to her wildly successful 2018 memoir, Becoming. As it would have been awkward for Michelle to write a second self-promotional autobiography entitled “Becoming Part II,” the new book is released under the ruse of a self-help guide.
So why would Michelle release a second autobiography disguised as a self-help book? Michelle told an audience at the Obama Foundation in 2018, “Barack and I don’t do things incidentally, there’s a strategy.” I am convinced The Light We Carry is part of Michelle’s strategy to become president in 2024. I chronicle Michelle’s real story in my book and film of the same name, Michelle Obama 2024: Her Real Life Story and Plan for Power.
The Light We Carry is an all-autobiographical 10-chapter book, recounting stories chronologically from Michelle’s childhood through the White House years. The main difference from Becoming is that now Michelle paints herself as even more of a victim throughout her life. Along the way, she suggests a few life lessons based on her experiences in life, real and imagined.
The goal of The Light We Carry is the same as Becoming: to strengthen her appeal to women and minorities, key Democrat party voting blocs. In the first five chapters of The Light We Carry, Michelle recounts her journey from Chicago to Princeton University. In Chapter 6, she writes about meeting Barack at her Chicago law firm, going to Hawaii the first time, and their marriage. Chapter 7 is “Meet my Mom” about how great it was having her Mom living in the White House with them. Chapter 8 is about Michelle’s group of friends while she was first lady. Chapter 9 is the White House years and her being a Black first lady, and a lot of talk about daughters Malia and Sasha. The final chapter culminates in a highly political offering called “Going High”, a discussion of Michelle’s political “motto” which is “when they go low, we go high.” Michelle unveiled this saying in a 2016 campaign speech after going low on Donald Trump with a vicious attack excoriating Trump for alleged behaviors she either exaggerated or pulled out of context.
The ability to have regular folks identify with a politician is the major ingredient for electoral success. Michelle Obama, despite her immense popularity, has little in common with average Americans, and almost nothing in common with minorities, despite her being one. In order to become a successful candidate for president in 2024, these are the obstacles she must overcome. Her books and book tours are designed to do just that. Michelle timed the release of The Light We Carry to just after the midterm elections. As with Becoming, the roll out includes another sold out promotional nationwide stadium tour. On each stop, Michelle is interviewed by a celebrity host and wows her adoring fans with stories of her life. To kick off the book tour, Michelle Obama appeared right after the midterm election on the ABC news show 20/20, where she was interviewed by Obama superfan Robin Roberts.
The one hour interview was nothing short of a 2024 presidential campaign advertisement, hitting all the necessary buttons — personal, pop culture, and political. The interview was conducted at the Obama’s huge empty home in Chicago, in which the Obamas haven’t lived since 2008. The Obamas now live in a ritzy Washington D.C. suburb when not at their $12 million home in Martha’s Vineyard, the ultimate status symbol of the liberal elite. The oceanfront mansion, as well as the one under construction in Hawaii are a thumb in the eye to the rising-sea-level activists.
In the beginning of the interview, Michelle justifies writing her new book by claiming that due to the uncertainty of Covid-19 and “the insurrection,” people turned to her for an answer to the question, “How do we get out of this mess?” Michelle then discusses her own personal struggle with her “fearful mind.” The example she recounts is her anxiety about helping Barack decide whether or not to run for president. Although she tries to portray herself as a mere humble bystander to her husband’s politics, Michelle was deeply involved in promoting his political career since the time she was the treasurer in his 1995 Illinois state senate campaign. Michelle also describes her more prosaic fears such as walking to her grade school and going to the Ivy Leagues. Michelle offers, “I want young kids to understand there is hope on the other side of fear.”
The second part of the interview deals with Barack and Joe Biden. Of Barack she says, “That’s my dude.” Michelle mentions that she and Barack celebrated their thirtieth wedding anniversary by re-creating their honeymoon. To identify with voters, she describes their day-to-day life as “pretty average” and that she and Barack are now “empty nesters”. As for her daughters, Michelle is “proud of them trying to be impactful in the world.” Michelle uses her daughters to remind the audience that her biracial husband is essentially Black. “Barack learned how to be a concerned Black father,” she insists. As for Biden, Michelle is as always the loyal Democrat foot soldier repeating approved talking points. She says without meaning it, “I think he’s doing a great job” and “He’s doing the best he can under the circumstances.” When asked if Biden should run again, Michelle parrots other Democrat politicians, “You know, I…I…I…we’ll have to see.” She then adds “It’s a personal decision he and his family have to make”.
As the interview progresses, Michelle tries to establish herself as just a regular person with regular girlfriends: “All my life I have relied on a solid group of women who keep me grounded who remind me who I am.” The problem is that for this segment, Michelle is joined by four of her “regular friends” — Black female celebrities, all of whom Michelle met while she was the First Lady. The women sing Michelle’s praises, emphasizing her commitments to health, friendship, and being kind. They lay the foundational assets of a future president: she doesn’t do anything halfway; she’s the most punctual person they have ever met; she has very high standards; and is extremely competitive. They also mention more everyday people stuff like exercising and overcoming menopause.
Then the interview is all political. Roberts asks, “are you concerned about political anger and violence?” She answers faithfully, “We have to stay high even when it’s hard.” Roberts then prompts Michelle with, “What is your message to people struggling?” to which the polished politician answers, “Keep the bigger picture in mind, keep pushing forward.” To appeal to older women voters, Michelle claims she learned to knit from watching YouTube videos and details it as therapeutic; she then shows off two sweaters in progress.
In wrapping up, Michelle aims for the younger minority voting demographic. Three teenage non-White female superfans of Michelle — two Black and one Hispanic — are invited to a surprise meeting with Michelle. They cry and tell Michelle how much she helped them through tough times due to their reading of Becoming. Michelle hugs them and tells them she is proud of them. One girl tells Michelle she was inspired by her story of being racially profiled by her high school counselor regarding her Princeton University application. (It was phony: the counselor who “profiled” her was a Black woman!)
Michelle has for years been faithfully following Barack Obama’s successful formula to launch her 2024 campaign for president. Much like Barack’s “Project Vote”, Michelle founded a voter registration organization called “When We All Vote.” Michelle was the keynote speaker at the 2020 convention for the Democrat nominee, Joe Biden, as was Barack for John Kerry in 2004. Finally and most importantly, Michelle mirrored Barack’s blueprint of basing his candidacy on his personal story, his best-selling book Dreams from My Father, with Becoming. The follow-up autobiography, The Light We Carry, and the accompanying tour are perfectly timed to softly launch Michelle’s “everyone keeps asking me” candidacy for president next year. No Democrat would dare defy her, and no Republican will know how to attack her, not even Donald Trump.

Braids, bias, and a Black first lady
On the first stop of a 13-night nationwide tour to promote her new book, “The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times,” “Michelle Obama, disguised as an angel of light,” chatted with host Ellen DeGeneres. Held at the Warner Theater in Washington, DC, Michelle O spouted bias, braids, and a Black first lady to a full house.
In a show of defiance that inspired audience applause, at the end of her diatribe, Obama motioned to her current hairstyle and exclaimed, “Braids, ya’ll!”
For Michelle Obama, “overcoming in uncertain times” requires a new hairdo and self-help book tour to instigate the sort of hatred that contributes to “uncertain times.” But then again, never-ending bitterness is quintessential Mrs. O.
Time and again, the former first lady misuses public fondness as an excuse to express hatred. Drawing audiences in by feigning maternal concern, every gathering devolves into Michelle-style venom on full display. This time the star author felt it was relevant to inspire images of flat irons and hair relaxers.
Think about it; six years post Obama presidency and a full house of diverse fans are subjected to stories about forgoing braids to accommodate a nation that she says needed to ‘adjust’ to a Black first lady.

Weaves, Afros, or keratin straighteners, it's likely Americans already knew the President was biracial and didn’t need Michelle’s hairstyle to verify that fact.
And so, a woman who rarely wore braids before becoming first lady, chooses to expose her own racial animosity by suggesting to a book tour audience that a Black woman straightening her hair made Blackness more acceptable to White Americans.
Implying that it would have been much easier to dig in her organic victory garden with braided hair (and $540 sneakers), out of consideration for the hayseeds who assign racial connotations to hairstyle, Mrs. Obama thought, “nope, they ain’t ready for it.” So instead of braids, Southside Shelly hired a White stylist named, Meredith Koop, a full-time hairdresser, and a makeup artist.
What M.O. doesn’t realize is the authenticity she prides herself on, doesn’t exist. What does it say about a person that submits to public pressure to assuage criticism? Or is Michelle fabricating this story to fuel personal animosity toward a whole segment of American society she tends to loathe?
Coiffure and tresses aside, the most disturbing part of this story is that it revolves around the petty hostility Michelle still embraces. Sorry, but choosing a bob-over-braids is a pathetic reflection of Michelle’s narcissistic self-absorption and superficiality. Does she really believe a hairstyle was enough to divert attention from 8-years of total chaos?
Did Michelle Obama think sacrificing doing her hair “the way she wanted” would distract from reality? Would braided hair eclipse images of Ambassador Christopher Stevens’s bloodied, dead body lying on the street in Benghazi? Does Shelly really think cornrows overshadow the failed stimulus, the healthcare debacle, and the Iran nuclear deal? How about Fast & Furious, weaponizing the IRS, net neutrality, Bowe Bergdahl, NSA spying, Solyndra, suppressing the First Amendment, and much more?
Michelle didn’t stop at her personal pain. Instead, she sabotaged White women in the audience by reminding minorities who came to hear about a book, that whether they realize it or not, navigating the workplace with courser-texture, or curly hair translates into pressure from White beauty standards.
Obama said, "We deal with it, the whole thing about, ‘Do you show up with your natural hair’?" Or do Black women follow Mrs. Obama’s lifelong example and saturate their scalps with toxic chemical straightener to fit in?
Prompting Black women to feel subjugated, Michelle wove in an “overcoming” reference when she ironically addressed DeGeneres, who wears none of these things she mentioned, saying:
That’s the African American experience, but women in offices that are worried, ‘Should I wear skirts? Should I wear pantyhose?’ 'I hate pantyhose.’ But when you’re carrying all this other stuff, this mask, these differences, and you’re trying to do your job, it’s just an extra burden on overcoming
Continuing to assign racial connotations to everything, Michelle even cited Barack being “blasted” for wearing a tan suit. The former first lady used the 2014 incident to justify her comment about what braids signify to White America. Talk about out-of-proportion conjecture.
Obama shared that she feared that if she changed her hairstyle from the chemically straightened version she wore most of her adult life, into a replica of the braids she sported at Princeton, critics would say, “Remember when she wore braids? Those are terrorist braids! Those are revolutionary braids!”
Is this the kind of ‘light Michelle Obama carries?’
Either way, the former first lady couldn’t help but bring up the man who offers no apology for his unique hairstyle. On the first night of her book tour, the onetime FLOTUS let the most accurate insight she’s had in her adult life slip out when she said this about Trump’s win in 2016,
You don’t want to make this personal, but as I write in the book, it hurt…because you wonder was it a rebuke of the eight years, the sacrifice we made? Was it complacency? What was it?
Maybe what it was, was public disdain for the type of rhetoric that turns hairdos into soapboxes to further a racial divisiveness that has nothing to do with braids and everything to do with resentment.

How to empower the black community to succeed
No one has produced any functionally sound answers to the myriad problems in the African-American community. So let us start here, with the direct answer to the issue, so that we are clear from the start. There is one and only one answer to every ill that we face as a nation. Every single child, and most especially every African-American child, must be fully and completely educated. Whether as a mechanic or a scientist, a full education should be compulsory in the black community.
People with complete educations are not out committing street crime. People with complete educations do not need social service. People with complete educations are not being stopped and shot dead by law enforcement.
Complete education is the only answer, to every problem we have as a society today. Our people must be educated. Each of us must be self-sufficient. The inability for entire communities to grow and prosper, especially if they must then rely on others, is a root cause of racial hatred.
How long have we been asking questions about the cause of racism, along with the follow-up question: how can we make it go away?
Start by changing the narrative. It is not race, but economics that is the issue. People don’t hate us. They are simply tired of being financially responsible for people who commit crime and live in perpetual poverty. People are not racists as much as they are disappointed in the way things have turned out.
In this country, polite people do not discuss race. Within that vacuum, black people have engineered a complex system whereby whites can be manipulated, and forced to tread lightly, upon the collective psyche of the long-suffering, highly sensitive, reparations-seeking, generally persecuted black person.
In the process, black people are able to behave badly and have turned underachievement into a cultural norm. White people are not permitted to acknowledge this. They can’t bring it up...can’t get mad about it...and the closer they come to discussing the truth, the more they are accused of racial insensitivity and racial hatred.
Yet they have to live with us, protect us, feed us, and listen to us attack them for inadequately providing for non-white people. We get away with this because we can quite righteously claim that whites impeded our progress in the past.
But it is not the past any longer, and this egregious denial-and-blame game has got to stop. The past is not causing our problems today. Other cultures, races and nations have suffered and recovered. We have not.
Black people should have had this fixed by now. By reasonable line of logic, we apparently do not want, or plan, to fix this. It would have been done already if we did.
You’re saying to yourself that right now you are reading about stuff you’re not allowed to say! Or think! Well right here — that ends also. You can look around society today, and see the result of pent up inner thoughts. Racial hatred has gotten bad — and yet can still get worse.
I know folks don’t want to (or are not allowed to) talk about this. But I’m here to say that a Black Lives Matter movement and its ilk are not in a position to represent black people. Yet they are raising millions of dollars to do so.
Talk about your vacuum...this type of mass hysterical, overblown, adolescent leadership emerges in the wake, of the lack of meaningful, impactful leadership in the black community. There is not one among these pseudo-preacher lawyer rabble-rousers who is honest with us. There is way too much money at stake, from the perpetuation of dysfunction.
We need leaders in the African-American community who advocate for making the community do the work it needs to do to improve. Instead, this gaggle of mercenaries is always and only about finding some outward magical force, to come into the community, and repair us! Brings on the GERD!
Any one (of these groups, or individual people), who tells you we are being persecuted; anyone who tells you that we need conflict to evoke change; anyone who asks for more money to fix the same old problems...anyone who advocates for defunding of the police — is engaging in useless and unnecessary agitation, likely in an effort to raise more money, even though he has yet to stumble upon the solution — to poverty and hopelessness.
No organizations that you readily come by are dealing with the true problems we face in the black community. This is why the problems still exist and are getting worse. No one has the stones to face facts. Until every one of our children is fully educated, and society stops making excuses for African-American underachievement, nothing will change.
Until the black community does what is necessary to improve itself, nothing can or will come into our community that will fix us, and we will continue to blame others for our own lack of resolve.

University claims a student scalp for Black Lives Matter
I reported previously that Hardin-Simmons University (HSU) expelled or otherwise forced out a student for a Tik-Tok video that said about Black Lives Matter essentially what New York's new Mayor, Eric Adams, said about it earlier this year. "I thought Black lives mattered. Where are all those who stated Black lives matter? Then go do an analysis of who was killed or shot last night. I was up all night speaking to my commanders in the Bronx and Brooklyn. The victims were Black. Many of the shooters were Black.” BLM leader Hawk Newsome's reply was call Adams a racial slur and a "white man in blackface," the typical response of a race hustler who has no facts to support his argument.
HSU now faces a bleak future not only because of sharply declining enrollments, but also other unrelated issues for which its faculty issued a "no confidence" vote for President Eric Bruntmyer. The Sandefer family, which is to HSU what the Cornell family is to Cornell University, proclaimed that it literally wouldn't want to be caught dead on HSU's campus. The American Council of Trustees and Alumni has meanwhile expressed multiple concerns about HSU's governance. None of this, except possibly the declining enrollments, is related to the BLM controversy but the latter is ample reason for high school seniors to shun HSU in the absence of corrective actions including repudiation of BLM and a public apology to the student involved.
Did HSU Violate FERPA?
I am phrasing this as a genuine question because I am not qualified to give legal advice on anything, let alone what constitutes a violation of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Page 45 of a FERPA training presentation from HSU's own web site says (emphasis is mine), "Institutions may disclose education records without written consent of students to the following: The public regarding the final results of an institutional disciplinary proceeding so long as the student has been determined to be the alleged perpetrator of a crime of violence or non-forcible sex offense." Condemnation of BLM is not any crime, so this is not applicable.
Campus Reform reports, however, "The university made a public statement confirming that the student is no longer enrolled at the school" and added, "Citing privacy concerns, Bruntmyer stated that he could not disclose the disciplinary actions that were taken against [the student] but can confirm that she is 'no longer enrolled at Hardin Simmons University.'" Bruntmyer's video stipulates that he knows HSU must comply with Federal law (e.g. FERPA). He then said almost in the same breath that he can confirm that the student is no longer enrolled in HSU which comes across to me (my perception, you are free to agree or disagree) as a very explicit disclosure of what happened.
Did HSU Violate its Own Code of Conduct?
There are even questions as to whether disciplinary action against this student violated HSU's own Code of Conduct. The only loophole seems to consist of "some speech is nonetheless inconsistent with the Golden Rule found in Matthew 7:12, and students are encouraged to live by this higher standard rooted in our Christian faith and heritage." First, whether the speech is inconsistent with the Golden Rule is a matter of subjective opinion and second, the rule says "encouraged" and not "required."
"Off-Campus Freedom of Students" adds, "College and university students are both citizens and members of the academic community. As citizens of the United States, students will enjoy the same freedom of speech, peaceful assembly, and right of petition that other citizens enjoy; and, as members of the academic community, they are subject to the obligations that accrue to them by virtue of this membership. Faculty members and administrative officials should ensure that institutional powers are not employed which inhibit such intellectual and personal development of students as is often promoted by their exercise of the rights of citizenship both on and off campus." This section adds that unlawful behavior is not protected, but this is not an issue here.
If HSU can expel or otherwise force out a student for an accurate condemnation of Black Lives Matter, and publicly shame the student involved, it can do the same to any student who says something with which HSU administrators disagree. Intelligent people avoid dogs that are known for biting without provocation.
If high school seniors in Texas want a college with a Baptist religious environment, this map of Texas State University shows multiple Baptist churches very close to and even on the campus. There is a Baptist student center on campus. The Texas State Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) is right on campus. Texas State's tuition is less than $12,000 a year versus more than $30,000 for HSU. You also don't have to worry about being "canceled" by "woke" University administrators at Texas State because, according to the ACLU, "Restrictions on speech by public colleges and universities amount to government censorship, in violation of the Constitution." Add to this financial talk show host Dave Ramsey's opinion of expensive private colleges in general—and Ramsey is himself apparently a Baptist Christian—and you have very strong arguments for choosing community colleges and/or Texas State over HSU and indeed other private universities.
Were HSU's Actions Christian?
People throughout history have claimed to speak for God, Jesus, Allah, and so on to justify some very bad behavior such as the Inquisition, witch trials, the Thirty Years War and, more recently, terrorism in the Middle East and Central Asia. Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church says God is on Vladimir Putin's side. Rabbi Eric Yoffie of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations found somewhere in Judaism a "religious obligation" to vote for enemies of the Second Amendment. The behavior of the reverends Al Sharpton and Jeremiah Wright, and minister Louis Farrakhan, speak for themselves, as does that of the Westboro Baptist Church.
Prospective HSU applicants might therefore want to listen to Alpha & Omega Ministries' take on Hardin-Simmons and also Black Lives Matter, which is very different from Dr. Bruntmyer's. This video calls HSU an "allegedly Christian university," and the backlash on HSU's Facebook page is highly instructive as well. The fact that I cannot find even one comment that supports the university's actions does not mean there aren't any among the eight hundred or so there, but the reaction was overwhelmingly negative.
HSU Backed the Wrong Horse Big Time
Not only was what the student, and Mayor Adams, said about BLM accurate, BLM also meets the Anti-Defamation League's and International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's definition of an anti-Semitic organization; one that denies the right of Israel to exist. BLM has, at its highest levels (e.g. Patrisse Cullors) promoted Rasmea Odeh, a Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine terrorist who murdered two Jews with a bomb. BLM refers to convicted cop killer Joanne Chesimard, aka Assata Shakur, as "Mama Assata." BLM has also condoned looting and rioting. We do not need to associate ourselves with something like BLM to denounce segregation, discrimination, civil rights violations, and similar conduct that has been neither legally nor socially acceptable in our country for more than fifty years.
"Cancel culture" is simply the latest incarnation of McCarthyism, under which people's lives and careers could be ruined with a mere accusation of affiliation with Communism. Today's "cancelers" call you a racist instead and demand that you be fired or expelled. This homegrown cancer must be called out and eradicated from our society wherever it appears.

“Protect and enrich.” This is a perfect encapsulation of the Clinton Foundation (TWO GAMER LAWYERS) and the Obama (TWO GAMER LAWYERS) book and television deals. Then there is the Biden family (THREE GAMER LAWYERS) corruption, followed closely behind by similar abuses of power and office by the Warren (GAMER LAWYER) and Sanders families, as Peter Schweizer described in his recent book “Profiles in Corruption.” These names just scratch the surface of government corruption (ADD GAMER LAWYER KAMALA HARRIS AND HER LAWYER HUSBAND AND THE BANKSTERS’ RENT BOY, LAWYER CHUCK SHCUMER).

Hillary and her campaign aides have long been involved with Russia for reasons of personal gain. Clinton herself got $145 million in donations to the Clinton Foundation for allowing Russia to take over twenty percent of all uranium production in the U.S. Her campaign chairman, John Podesta, is reaping the financial benefits of being on the board of a Russian company, Joule, which he did not disclose. There’s also the little problem of Hillary’s incredible corruption (making her and Biden birds of a feather). And of course, the fact that Hillary’s unsecure server damaged national security in a way that would have seen an ordinary, politically unconnected person spend the rest of her life in prison—which, not coincidentally, is where Papa Joe belongs for using his debauched son Hunter as the bagman for decades of anti-American corruption.

Everything that matters is in peril
The Democrat party is no longer a place for a sane person, as Tulsi Gabbard recently affirmed. Democrats, from Biden and Obama on down, have often spoken in recent years about unity and bipartisanship. They have denounced “mean-spiritedness” and “the politics of personal destruction.”
And yet they now claim that:
If you believe skin color doesn’t matter, you are a racist.
If you believe in the existence of two sexes and the sanctity of females, you are a bigot, and possibly a misogynist.
If you believe in protecting the lives of the unborn, you are against women’s health care—and probably a murderer. (Pro-abortion folks will vehemently inform you, “It’s my body, my choice, so don’t tell me what to do.”)
If, however, you decline to accept an unvetted experimental mRNA vaccine into your own body, you are no better than a mass murderer.

If you are a parent involved in your kids’ lives and you want to make sure they get a good education, you are a domestic terrorist.
If you are concerned about drug and sex trafficking across our southern border, you are a xenophobe.

If you don’t believe the 2020 presidential election was “the most secure in history,” and think that Trump might have actually won sans all the chicanery (which was proudly chronicled in a Time Magazine article), you are also a “denier.” In fact, you are a purveyor of “the big lie.”
If you don’t believe that Hillary won in 2016, however, and that the Russians clearly interfered in that election in favor of Trump, you are probably part of the “vast right-wing conspiracy” and the “basket of deplorables.”
If you didn’t vote for Obama, you are racist. If you didn’t vote for Hillary, you hate women. If you approve of Justice Thomas, you are racist. If you would vote for Kristi Noem or Kari Lake, you hate women—or are stupid. Or both.
If you are a MAGA Republican, you are a “threat to our democracy.”
If you believe in the Bible, you are naïve and backward. If you believe in an unlimited number of genders and people’s ability to identify as the opposite sex—or a different species -- you are following “the science.”

The New York Times reported that current "Race" president Janet Murguia believes "hate speech" should "not be tolerated, even if such censorship were a violation of First Amendment rights."
3. "The Race" sponsors militant ethnic nationalist charter schools subsidized by your public tax dollars (at least $8 million in federal education grants). The schools include Aztlan Academy in Tucson, Ariz., the Mexicayotl Academy in Nogales, Ariz., Academia Cesar Chavez Charter School in St. Paul, Minn., and La Academia Semillas del Pueblo in Los Angeles, whose principal inveighed: "We don't want to drink from a White water fountain, we have our own wells and our natural reservoirs and our way of collecting rain in our aqueducts. Judge whose sister heads La Raza rules 130-year law against encouraging illegal immigrants is unconstitutional

Imagine if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Rashida Tlaib got to single-handedly veto sovereignty legislation dating back to the 1880s just like a president could veto a new bill passed by Congress this session. Imagine if they could unilaterally abolish ICE and declare open borders, except, unlike a president, they wouldn’t have to stand for re-election. Well, that is exactly the situation this week with a single federal judge. Thanks to Republicans agreeing to the notion that judges – even lower court judges – have direct veto power over legislation, a foundational immigration law has just been “vetoed.”
KCUR-FM reports that on Wednesday, Judge Carlos Murguia of the U.S. District Court of Kansas ruled, based on a Ninth Circuit opinion, that 8 U.S.C. §1324, the law prohibiting someone from “encouraging” or “inducing” illegal immigration, is an unconstitutional infringement upon the First Amendment. In doing so, Murguia vacated the convictions of two illegal aliens, Jose Felipe Hernandez-Calvillo and Mauro Papalotzi, who were convicted in August 2018 by a jury for conspiring to encourage illegal aliens to remain here through employment at a drywall company in Lawrence, Kansas. Four others were originally indicted by a grand jury in 2015.
This law has been on the books in some form for over 130 years, and numerous federal courts have upheld convictions based on §1324. Yet one judge, who worked for an open-borders group named El Centro Inc. and whose sister Janet Murguia is president of La Raza (now called UnidosUS), suddenly thinks conspiring to harbor and encourage illegal immigration violates the First Amendment. Carlos’ sister Mary (who is an identical twin to Janet) is a federal judge on the very Ninth Circuit Court from which he drew this opinion. Judge Mary Murguia once recused herself from a trial involving pro-enforcement Sheriff Joe Arpaio because of her sister’s leadership of La Raza. Carlos should have done the same thing this week in this case, which involves a law that directly conflicts with the work with the open-borders groups his family is associated with.
Rather than rule based on the law, he decided to adopt the ruling of the Ninth Circuit (which doesn’t have jurisdiction in Kansas), which ruled last December that §1324 is “unconstitutionally overbroad” because it “criminalizes a substantial amount of protected expression.” “The court adopts (the 9th Circuit’s) analysis in full and agrees that (the law) on its face is overbroad under the First Amendment,” said Murguia in a brief bench ruling first reported by KCUR-FM.
This assertion is ridiculous, because the law clearly refers to engaging in subversive and fraudulent activities to encourage or enable actual individual aliens to remain in the country, not mere political advocacy for liberal immigration policies in the abstract. It’s like saying that someone who hates high taxes or gun control laws and advocates against them is the same as a person who actively assists tax cheats and gun felons in achieving the end goal of the criminalized behavior.
The 1952 INA (8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)) calls for felony prosecution for anyone who “encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law.” Subsection (V)(I) prohibits “any conspiracy to commit any of the preceding acts.” The two defendants in this case were convicted on both counts. This law passed the Senate unanimously!
The forerunners to this law were the Contract Labor Law of 1885 and the 1891 Immigration Act. The 1885 law made it unlawful to “in any way assist or encourage the importation or migration of any alien” for the purpose of contract labor. Section 3 of the 1891 Immigration Act made it a felony to “assist or encourage the importation or migration of any alien by promise of employment” through advertisements.
Other circuits have long recognized this law as completely legitimate. “Harboring, within the meaning of §1324, encompasses conduct tending substantially to facilitate an alien’s remaining in the United States illegally and to prevent government authorities from detecting his unlawful presence,” wrote the Second Circuit in 1999. “Such facilitation may be attempted through a wide range of conduct.” (United States v. Kim, 193 F.3d 567, 574 (2d Cir. 1999).) The Fifth Circuit has ruled that Congress intended for §1324 to “broadly proscribe any knowing or willful conduct fairly within any of these terms that tends to substantially facilitate an alien’s remaining in the U.S. illegally.”
So how could a single judge who has a family history of open-borders activism be allowed to veto such long-standing and universal laws? The answer is that he has no such power other than what the other branches are willing to cede him.
The concern here is that this will not only protect employers who knowingly help illegal aliens get around our immigration laws, but it will also essentially legalize sanctuary cities. Throughout the county, sanctuary cities are taking active steps to thwart immigration law. We would never tolerate this for other federal laws concerning American criminals. Why should illegal aliens have special privileges?
Rather than shirking from §1324 prosecutions, Trump’s DOJ should aggressively go after sanctuary cities, especially in areas where there are saner federal judges. A judge has no power to “strike down” or veto statutes he or she believes are overly broad. If there is a case that concerns pure speech or advocacy without any conspiracy or action taken to encourage illegal immigration, then it is within the prerogative of a judge not to convict the person. That is judicial power. But judges have no ability to say that the statute can’t be applied even when an action is involved because, in their view, the text of the law might rope in speech in other cases. To believe otherwise is to concoct an entirely new level of judicial veto that our Founders explicitly rejected. This is the difference between judicial review and judicial supremacy.
Finally, it’s important to remember that this is yet another example of judges attempting to fully nullify long-standing immigration law. Some on the Right believe that Congress needs to pass new laws in order to end illegal immigration. It’s simply not true. We don’t have a law problem; we have a judicial supremacy problem. The only question is whether the other branches will give this fake power full effect.

As Phyllis Schlafly reveals in this issue of Whistleblower: "This CFR document asserts that President Bush, Mexican President Vicente Fox and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin 'committed their governments' to this goal when they met at Bush's ranch and at Waco, Texas, on March 23, 2005. The three adopted the 'Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America' and assigned 'working groups' to fill in the details. It was at this same meeting, grandly called the North American Summit, that President Bush pinned the epithet 'vigilantes' on the volunteers guarding our border in Arizona."
The CFR report – important excerpts of which are published in Whistleblower – also suggests North American elitists begin getting together regularly, and presumably secretly, "to buttress North American relationships, along the lines of the Bilderberg or Wehrkunde conferences, organized to support transatlantic relations." The Bilderberg and Wehrkunde conferences are highly secret conclaves of the powerful. For decades, there have been suspicions that such meetings were used for plotting the course of world events and especially the centralization of global decision-making.

One of the standard arguments invoked by those in favor of massive immigration into the United States is that our country is founded on immigrants who have always been successfully assimilated into America's mainstream culture and society. As one commentator put it, "Assimilation evokes the misty past of Ellis Island, through which millions entered, eventually seeing their descendants become as American as George Washington."1 Nothing more vividly testifies against that romantic faith in America's ability to continuously assimilate new members than the events of October 16, 1994 in Los Angeles. On that day, 70,000 people marched beneath "a sea of Mexican flags" protesting Proposition 187, a referendum measure that would deny many state benefits to illegal immigrants and their children. Two weeks later, more protestors marched down the street, this time carrying an American flag upside down. Both protests point to a disturbing and rising phenomenon of Chicano separatism in the United States — the product of a complex of forces, among which are multiculturalism and a generous immigration policy combined with a lax border control. The Problem Chicanos refer to "people of Mexican descent in the United States" or "Mexican Americans in general." Today, there are reasons to believe that Chicanos as a group are unlike previous immigrants in that they are more likely to remain unassimilated and unintegrated, whether by choice or circumstance — resulting in the formation of a separate quasi-nation within the United States. More than that, there are Chicano political activists who intend to marry cultural separateness with territorial and political self-determination. The more moderate among them aspire to the cultural and political autonomy of "home rule". The radicals seek nothing less than secession from the United States whether to form their own sovereign state or to reunify with Mexico. Those who desire reunification with Mexico are irredentists who seek to reclaim Mexico's "lost" territories in the American Southwest.
Whatever their goals, what animates all of them is the dream of Aztlan. According to legend, Aztlan was the ancestral homeland of the Aztecs which they left in journeying southward to found Tenochtitlan, the center of their new civilization, which is today's Mexico City. Today, the "Nation of Aztlan" refers to the American southwestern states of California, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, portions of Nevada, Utah, Colorado, which Chicano nationalists claim were stolen by the United States and must be reconquered (Reconquista) and reclaimed for Mexico. The myth of Aztlan was revived by Chicano political activists in the 1960s as a central symbol of Chicano nationalist ideology. In 1969, at the Chicano National Liberation Youth Conference in Denver, Rodolfo "Corky" Gonzales put forth a political document entitled El Plan de Aztlan (Spiritual Plan of Aztlan). The Plan is a clarion call to Mexican-Americans to form a separate Chicano nation: In the spirit of a new people that is conscious not only of its proud historial heritage, but also of the brutal "gringo" invasion of our territories, we, the Chicano inhabitants and civilizers of the nothern land of Aztlan from whence came our forefathers ...declare that the call of our blood is...our inevitable destiny.... Aztlan belongs to those who plant the seeds, water the fields, and gather the crops, and not to the foreign Europeans. We do not recognize capricious frontiers on the bronze continent.... Brotherhood unites us, and love for our brothers makes us a people whose time has come .... With our heart in our hands and our hands in the soil, we declare the independence of our mestizo nation. We are a bronze people with a bronze culture. Before the world, before all of North America, before all our brothers in the bronze continent, we are a nation, we are a union of free pueblos, we are Aztlan.
How Chicanos are Unlike Previous Immigrants Brent A. Nelson, writing in 1994, observed that in the 1980s America's Southwest had begun to be transformed into "a de facto nation" with its own culture, history, myth, geography, religion, education, and language. Whatever evidence there is indicates that Chicanos, as a group, are unlike previous waves of immigrants into the United States. In the first place, many Chicanos do not consider themselves immigrants at all because their people "have been here for 450 years" before the English, French, or Dutch. Before California and the Southwest were seized by the United States, they were the lands of Spain and Mexico. As late as 1780 the Spanish crown laid claim to territories from Florida to California, and on the far side of the Mississippi up to the Great Lakes and the Rockies. Mexico held title to much of Spanish possessions in the United States until the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ended the Mexican-American war in 1848. As a consequence, Mexicans "never accepted the borders drawn up by the 1848 treaty."
That history has created among Chicanos a feeling of resentment for being "a conquered people," made part of the United States against their will and by the force of arms. Their resentment is amply expressed by Voz Fronteriza, a Chicano student publication,
which referred to Border Patrol officers killed in the line of duty as "pigs (migra)" trying to defend "the false frontier."
Chicanos are also distinct from other immigrant groups because of the geographic proximity of their native country. Their physical proximity to Mexico gives Chicanos "the option of life in both Americas, in two places and in two cultures, something earlier immigrants never had." Geographic proximity and ease of transportation are augmented by the media. Radio and television keep the spoken language alive and current so that Spanish, unlike the native languages of previous immigrants into the United States, "shows no sign of fading."
A result of all that is the failure by Chicanos to be fully assimilated into the larger American society and culture. As Earl Shorris, author of Latinos: A Biography of the People, observed: "Latinos have been more resistant to the melting pot than any other group. Their entry en masse into the United States will test the limits of the American experiment...." The continuous influx of Mexican immigrants into the United States serve to continuously renew Chicano culture so that their sense of separateness will probably continue "far into the future...." There are other reasons for the failure of Chicano assimilation. Historically, a powerful force for assimilation was upward social mobility: Immigrants into the United States became assimilated as they rose in educational achievement and income. But today's post-industrial American economy, with its narrower paths to upward mobility, is making it more difficult for certain groups to improve their socioeconomic circumstances. Unionized factory jobs, which once provided a step up for the second generation of past waves of immigrants, have been disappearing for decades. Instead of the diamond-shaped economy of industrial America, the modern American economy is shaped like an hourglass. There is a good number of jobs for unskilled people at the bottom, a fair number of jobs for the highly educated at the top, but comparatively few jobs for those in the middle without a college education or special skills. To illustrate, a RAND Corporation study forecasts that 85 percent of California's new jobs will require post-secondary education. For a variety of reasons, the nationwide high-school dropout rate for Hispanics (the majority of whom are Chicano) is 30 percent — three times the rate for whites and twice the rate for blacks. Paradoxically, the dropout rate for Hispanics born in the United States is even higher than for young immigrants. Among Chicanos, high-school dropout rates actually rise between the second and third generations. Their low educational achievement accounts for why Chicanos as a group are poor despite being hardworking. In 1996, for the first time, Hispanic poverty rate began to exceed that of American blacks. In 1995, household income rose for every ethnic group except Hispanics, for whom it dropped 5 percent. Latinos now make up a quarter of the nation's poor people, and are more than three times as likely to be impoverished than whites. This decline in income has taken place despite high rates of labor-force participation by Latino men, and despite an emerging Latino middle class. In California, where Latinos now approach one-third of the population, their education levels are far lower than those of other immigrants, and they earn about half of what native-born Californians earn. This means that, for the first time in the history of American immigration, hard work is not leading to economic advancement because immigrants in service jobs face unrelenting labor-market pressure from more recently arrived immigrants who are eager to work for less. The narrowing of the pathways of upward mobility has implications for the children of recent Mexican immigrants. Their ascent into the middle-class mainstream will likely be blocked and they will join children of earlier black and Puerto Rican migrants as part of an expanded multiethnic underclass. Whereas first generation immigrants compare their circumstances to the Mexico that they left — and thereby feel immeasurably better off — their children and grandchildren will compare themelves to other U.S. groups. Given their lower educational achievement and income, that comparison will only lead to feelings of relative deprivation and resentment. They are unlikely to be content as maids, gardeners, or fruit pickers. Many young Latinos in the second and third generations see themselves as locked in irremediable conflict with white society, and are quick to deride successful Chicano students as "wannabes." For them, to study hard is to "act white" and exhibit group disloyalty. That attitude is part of the Chicano culture of resistance — a culture that actively resists assimilation into mainstream America. That culture is created, reinforced, and maintained by radical Chicano intellectuals, politicians, and the many Chicano Studies programs in U.S. colleges and universities. As examples, according to its editor, Elizabeth Martinez, the purpose of Five Hundred Years of Chicano History, a book used in over 300 schools throughout the West, is to "celebrate our resistance to being colonized and absorbed by racist empire builders." The book calls the INS and the Border Patrol "the Gestapo for Mexicans."
For Rodolfo Acuna, author of Occupied America: The Chicano's Struggle Toward Liberation, probably the most widely assigned text in U.S. Chicano Studies programs, the Anglo-American invasion of Mexico was "as vicious as that of Hitler's invasion of Poland and other Central European nations...." The book also includes a map showing "the Mexican republic" in 1822 reaching up into Kansas and Oklahoma, and including within it Utah, Nevada, and everything west and south of there

The “zero tolerance” program was dismantled by Attorney General Erc Holder once it had successfully cut the transit of migrants by roughly 95 percent. Initially, officials made 140,000 arrests per year in the mid-2000s, but the northward flow dropped so much that officials only had to make 6,000 arrests in 2013, according to a 2014 letter by two pro-migration Senators, Sen. Jeff Flake and John McCain.

After the breakfast tacos, Jill Biden comes to rally the Latino vote again. What could go wrong?
First lady, and doctor-to-you Jill Biden, has somehow been dispatched again to chase down and win back the long-gone Latino vote for the Democrats.
According to Fox News:
First lady Jill Biden plans to host an event for Hispanic Heritage Month but has not made any comments on the celebration just three months after being mocked for comparing Latinos to "breakfast tacos."
"Yes, the first lady will host a Hispanic Heritage Month reception at the White House and continue to engage the community as she travels the country," Elizabeth Alexander, communications director for the first lady, told Fox News Digital Friday. The date and further details of the reception have not been announced.
Despite plans to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Jill Biden is yet to make any public statements on the celebration.
In early July, Jill Biden compared the Latino community to breakfast tacos while speaking to a group of Hispanic voters at the 2022 UnidosUS Annual Conference in San Antonio.
How, or why, anyone thought this was a good idea is one of the enduring mysteries of the Biden administration. Who the heck came up with this idea? Please say, so Republicans can offer their thanks.
Democrats are facing a massive crisis right now with the Latino vote. They've staked their entire future on their presumed control of the Latino vote, and much to their surprise, Latino voters are walking the other way.
This is the kind of crisis for them that calls for top talent, the big guns, in their party's desperate bid to turn that huge move of people, that megatrend, back toward them
Instead, they've got ... Jill Biden, who's the worst gaffe machine the Democrats have for that task, having uttered one semi-racist idiocy after another in her bid to woo Latino voters.
In San Antonio just nine weeks ago, she compared Latinos to breakfast tacos, which didn't go down well with the locals. In Delano, California, before an audience of Latino farmworkers, she attempted to rally them by shouting "SÃ, se pwaud-way." Cringe. In the Bronx, she praised Latinos for their "bogedas," meaning, bodegas. The cringe just kept on coming.
Biden, whose previous "career" has been in community college teaching, hence, her insisted-on title of "doctor," wasn't much of a quick study, given that the schools she taught at did have significant Latino representation. As I noted here earlier:
besides not knowing a thing about the Spanish language in a common phrase that most English-speaking Americans know, she's someone who's taught at two community colleges, supposedly her real-world experience.
How many Hispanic students at Delaware Technical Community College, home of her first community college teaching gig? As of 2019, 14.8% according to college diversity statistics. Apparently not a one made contact with Jill Biden or got across to her a scintilla of Spanish. She must have been ensconced in a white-privilege bubble.
She also taught community college at Northern Virginia Community College. How many Hispanic kids there who could have familiarized her with a drib or drab of the Spanish language? As of 2017, according to the college, 21.5% of the students were Hispanic. She must have not known (or learned a tad of Spanish) from any of them. Perhaps she was remarkably incurious.
Yet every effort she's made to win Latinos over to the Democrat side has been a disaster for Democrats, achieving the opposite of its intended effect.
The latest report, from Andrew Abbott at AMAC, featured on RealClearPolitics, is that the outlook is getting bleak indeed:
As the midterms race closer, Republicans appear to be continuing to gain traction with Latino voters, a key constituency in winning control of Congress in 2022. While Democrats initially denied that such a demographic shift was even taking place, they are now in a desperate scramble to salvage their support among Hispanics.
Perhaps the clearest indicator of Democrats’ struggles with Hispanics has been President Joe Biden’s performance with the group. Though Biden won Hispanics 59%-38% in 2020, that represented a net 17-point decline from Hillary Clinton’s 66%-28% margin in 2016. Moreover, Biden’s approval rating with Hispanics is now hovering below 30%, one of his most dismal ratings among any demographic.
A number of polls over the past several months have also found Democrats only slightly ahead of Republicans in terms of support among Hispanic Americans, a dramatic shift after decades of Democratic candidates reliably earning anywhere from 60-80% of the Latino vote. Though Republicans aren’t likely to win a majority of the Hispanic vote in 2022 or even 2024, narrowing the gap to within a few points over just a few years is a drastic change given that such shifts often take decades to occur.
According to Daniel Garza of InsideSources, featured at the Las Vegas Review-Journal, and at RealClearPolitics:
The biggest story in politics right now is the Hispanic community’s rejection of progressive policies and progressive politicians. Polls and election data increasingly show Latino voters embracing more pro-freedom policies and candidates than ever before.
In Washington, this trend is being viewed mostly as a partisan story, with one side celebrating and the other in denial. But the real effect of this realignment is not that Latinos will help the Republican Party — they are going to redefine and lead it.
The timing of this shift shouldn’t be surprising. Inflation, falling wages, a crime wave, a border crisis and unprecedented learning loss from unscientific COVID-19 school closures have led Americans of all ethnicities to sour on the policies and politicians responsible for our national malaise. Neither “wokeness” nor “socialism” have much appeal to communities who love America’s culture of individual liberty and equal opportunity.The vast majority of the Hispanic community believes in the American Dream: working hard, playing by the rules and giving their children a chance to do even better. And they understand that the greatest obstacle to that dream is the corruption and incompetence of big government.
But fear not, Jill is there to turn it all around. She'll emote. She'll flatter. She'll express her "admiration" for those breakfast tacos, or people, or whatever. She'll declare "firsts." What she won't do is improve matters for Democrats on the Latino vote, given that Democrats have no intention of cleaning up the economy, education, crime, the open border, or any of the important things that matter to Latino voters, any more than she will clean these messes up for the rest of us.
But here she comes, vowing to avoid a gaffe this time perhaps, and serving up as the figurehead for how out of touch the Biden administration is as Republicans snap away the voters they've always claimed ownership of.
A new speech, another group of Latino voters, and Goofus there to address them as Lady Bountiful. What could go wrong?

In a June 2019 survey by Unidos US, "jobs and the economy" was the most important issue an ideal candidate would address (23 percent) for 1,854 eligible Latino voters in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, and Texas, followed by "healthcare" (17 percent) and then "immigration" (15 percent). "Gun violence" (8 percent) and "climate change" (7 percent) together equaled that total.

Unidos US, for those who are not familiar, is the current incarnation of the "National Council of La Raza", which bills itself as "the nation's largest Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization". Hardly a MAGA front group.
Given these numbers, it is no surprise that the Atlantic magazine in February stated that 30 percent of Latino voters support the president, in an opinion piece captioned "Latino Support for Trump Is Real: And that's a problem for Democrats" (not to be confused with the outlet's January 2020 article captioned "Democrats Should Be Worried About the Latino Vote: Political organizers have a warning for the 2020 candidates").
In this vein, in early May, Slate ran an article captioned "Biden Has a Real Latino Problem", which stated:
A recent Latino Decisions poll reveals a clear enthusiasm gap among Latinos for both Biden and the 2020 election itself, with only 49 percent of registered voters currently committed to choosing Biden over Trump, and just six out of 10 planning to go to the polls in November.
That article focuses on Biden's initial reluctance to distance himself from what the outlet deems "the controversial immigration policy of the first two years of the Obama administration" (perhaps too good a sales job by a president whose rhetoric on removals did not match his actions), and Biden's inability to present himself to Hispanic voters due to the current pandemic.
Speaking of which, Slate notes that: "According to the Latino Decisions poll, almost half of all respondents approve of Trump's handling of the coronavirus crisis, with 47 percent saying Trump was delivering 'clear and helpful' information about the pandemic." Again, showing that "immigration" is not the only concern of Hispanic voters.
Back to the pandering, however. The Post notes that Biden's "wife Jill, who is learning Spanish while stuck at home by the pandemic, has begun meeting weekly with small groups of Latino members of Congress, taking notes on a range of issues to share with her husband" (I don't have the heart to tell her they speak English), and the article is accompanied by a photo of Biden "at a campaign stop at King Taco in Los Angeles, with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti".
The paper also reports that "Biden campaign officials have promised to significantly increase outreach to Latinos and further diversify the staff now that they have raised more money, although," the Post notes, "they declined to provide target numbers."
I suppose that a Spanish-speaking spouse, an ethnically diverse staff, and a documented hankering for regional cuisine may win Biden some votes, but the fact is he is stuck in an immigration box.
