(CNSNews.com) - The steady drip-drip of new information on alleged Biden family influence-peddling continues to come from Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee.

On Wednesday, Comer said he recently learned that four members of the Biden family -- not three, but four -- "were receiving money from various influence-peddling schemes around the world."

But on Thursday, Comer said as many as seven Biden family members may have received "significant amounts of money from Communist China."

"The money is what we're following," Comer told Fox News's Sean Hannity on Thursday:

"We're following the money that ended up in the Bidens' pockets. The thing that every American should be concerned about is, what exactly was the service the Bidens were providing? Because I can tell you what our whistle-blowers have told us.

"They were trying to help China do all the things that this Congress is in a bipartisan way trying to block China from doing. They were trying to help China get their foot in the door on the American energy," Comer said, as Hannity interrupted him.

Comer said the committee has already received banking records, including wire transfers, involving one of Hunter Biden's business associates:

"One thing that I noticed that was unique about these wire transfers is each transfer is like a check. You have the name, address, date, the dollar amount and also the memo, which is what it's for. Every other wire transfer from Robinson Walker had something listed in the memo except the ones to the Bidens.

"If they put it in the memo, I might have a better idea what the money was for that the Bidens received. At the end of the day, what Joe Biden's defenders have said is, this is a business deal. This is a business deal. Well what's the business, Sean?

"There's no business. There's no business. They were influence-pedaling. Looks like they were getting money for some type of service. Now, I don't think Hunter Biden could provide the type of service that would generate millions and millions of dollars from the Chinese communist party. But I believe his father could. So when they say that Joe Biden wasn't involved, we don't know that.

"We just know that Joe Biden met with a lot of these people that ended up going in business with Hunter or ended up paying Hunter, rather, and the family. And that's another thing that they have tried to imply that there was only a couple family members.

“But what we found is there's multiple family members and there's going to end up being end up being between four and seven Bidens who received significant amounts of money from communist China."

The three Bidens known to have received money from Hunter's business dealings are Hunter; Hallie Biden, Beau Biden's widow (and Hunter Biden's ex-girlfriend), and Hunter's uncle, James Biden.

Comer said his committee is going to subpoena more bank records -- another 10 or 11, in addition to those of Robinson Walker. Comer also awaits the release of Suspicious Activity Reports, or SARS, from the Treasury Department on Hunter Biden's flagged financial transactions.

"So there was a lot of money that transferred from China to the Bidens, and what we want to know is what did China get in return?" Comer said.

"Because I don't think China would spend this much money on this many different members of the Biden family if they weren't getting a return on their investment...And as I said earlier, Sean, there's at least a dozen different money trails."

Comer said the Bidens also "received a lot of money from Russia, from those oligarchs...Joe Biden put sanctions on just about every oligarch in Russia after Russia invaded Ukraine except the two that paid the Bidens.

"So what we're going to investigate is, not just the money trail but what exactly did they get in return."

As reported by Fox News, Hunter Biden’s legal team issued a statement on Thursday, saying that Hunter, as a “private citizen,” had “every right to pursue his own business endeavors,” and that Hunter “joined several business partners in seeking a joint venture with a privately-owned, legitimate energy company in China.”

“As part of that joint venture," the statement continued, "Hunter received his portion of good-faith seed funds which he shared with his uncle, James Biden, and Hallie Biden, with whom he was involved at the time, and sharing expenses.

“The accounts so dramatically listed by Rep. Comer belonged to Hunter, his uncle, and Hallie – nobody else.”

Hawley: America Needs a ‘Robust Nationalism’ — ‘Neocons Are Globalists’

1:28

Thursday on FNC’s “The Ingraham Angle,” Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) called for a “robust nationalism” in the United States to guide policy in Washington, D.C.

The Missouri Republican lawmaker argued there were undercurrents of globalism guiding policy and nationalism would be the appropriate response.

“Here’s the deal, Laura, you’re either a nationalist or you’re a globalist,” he said. “It’s that simple. Ronald Reagan. He was a nationalist. We need a robust nationalism. We need to not be afraid to say yes, we need to rebuild America, we need to make America strong, and Reagan was right all those years ago, American national strength will make us strong abroad, will enable us to protect our interests abroad, but that’s not what the neocons want.”

“The neocons are globalist,” Hawley continued. “They want to turn America into the rest of the world. They want a liberal Empire all over the world. And Laura, it’s a pipe dream. It’s crazy. And we can see the effects of a war forever, trade deficits forever, industry going to China, people out of work here, if you’re a working person, can’t get a good paying job. Why is that? It’s because of the neocons’ policies for the last 30-plus years.”

Hunter Biden Admits to Biden Family’s China Deals for $Millions After Years of Denial

Hunter Biden on Thursday admitted and then justified the Biden family’s multi-million dollar business with Chinese entities close to the Chinese Communist Party after years of denial.

A spokesperson said:

Hunter Biden, a private citizen with every right to pursue his own business endeavors, joined several business partners in seeking a joint venture with a privately-owned, legitimate energy company in China. As part of that joint venture, Hunter received his portion of good faith seed funds which he shared with his uncle, James Biden, and Hallie Biden, with whom he was involved with at the time, and sharing expenses.

Hunter’s spokesman continued, “Rep. Comer takes something old and tries to make it new by wrapping it in a wild and baseless right-wing conspiracy … The accounts so dramatically listed by Rep. Comer belonged to Hunter, his uncle and Hallie – nobody else.”

Hunter’s statement is a public relations attempt to push back on House Oversight Committee James Comer’s (R-KY) confirmation that the Biden family business received a $3 million wire transfer from a Chinese energy company and subsequent payments afterPresident Joe Biden left the vice presidency in 2017.

Comer has also found evidence that shows the Biden family business received $179,836.86 while Joe Biden was in the White House. Although the sum appears to be insignificant compared to the $31 million received by the business during Joe Biden’s time as vice president, the new amount builds upon the previous reporting in 2022 by Breitbart News senior contributor Peter Schweizer.

Hunter’s statement is notable because it represents the first time he has ever acknowledged his family made millions from Chinese business deals.

Schweizer, speaking with Fox News Thursday evening, mocked Hunter for changing his story after years of denial of his accurate reporting:

The story has changed throughout. When we first broke this story in 2018, they denied that they were even doing business in China. Then they said well, we were doing business in china but, as you pointed out, we didn’t make any money. Then it shifted to joe biden didn’t know about those deals.

Schweizer continued:

That’s been disproven. The fact that they keep shifting the stories, I think, should be a major concern for people in the White House, because it’s pretty clear that the people spinning the news in the White House don’t know the full story, and I think there are going to be several other shoes to drop on this.

On Thursday afternoon, the White House also tried to deflect from Comer’s revelations by claiming the family was a victim, despite the millions of dollars they made without showing any production of a product or service in return for the money.

“After a disgusting attack lamenting that the President’s deceased son Beau was never prosecuted while he was alive, Congressman Comer has now decided to go after Beau’s widow,” said White House spokesman Ian Sams.

The statements come after Comer on Wednesday revealed whistleblowers have informed him Joe Biden has indirectly benefited financially from the Biden family business, raising questions about if Joe Biden is written into the family’s business deals off the books.

“One of the things that all of our whistleblowers have told us,” Comer told Just the News, “is that they were all — through these LLCs — paying for things for Joe Biden. So that’s very curious, you know.”

The email, sent to SinoHawk Holdings CEO Tony Bobulinski, shows how a top official with CEFC Energy — a now bankrupt and defunct energy company based in China — offered to wire $10 million into an account to begin operations, $5 million worth of which would be a non-secured forgivable loan to the “BD Family,” which means the Biden family. MATTHEW BOWLE

Pollak: Joe Biden Can Be Impeached for Bribery

News Thursday of payments from a Chinese Communist Party-linked company to members of President Joe Biden’s family amounts to a potential case for bribery, an impeachable offense under the Constitution.

The House Oversight Committee revealed that in 2017, China’s State Energy HK Limited sent $3 million to a company controlled by family associate Robert Walker, who in turn distributed funds to members of Biden’s family: his surviving son, Hunter; his brother, James; his daughter-in-law, Hallie; and an unknown “Biden.”

State Energy HK Limited was linked to CEFC China Energy, whose chairman, Ye Jianming, did business with Hunter Biden. CEFC was also involved in an abandoned joint venture with the Biden family in which someone referred to as the “big guy,” and presumed to be then-former Vice President Biden, was to have a 10% stake.

It is not clear what goods or services, if any, were provided in exchange for these payments.

Hunter Biden’s legal team issued a statement, claiming that he had engaged in a “legitimate” private business venture with a Chinese company: “As part of that joint venture, Hunter received his portion of good faith seed funds which he shared with his uncle, James Biden, and Hallie Biden, with whom he was involved with at the time, and sharing expenses.”

It was not clear what, exactly, that “joint venture” was, or how it was arranged.

Hunter Biden’s overseas business ventures had been recognized as early as 2015 as a potential conflict of interest for his father. Diplomats and journalists questioned Hunter Biden’s appointment to the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma, where he earned $83,333 per month, despite lacking relevant expertise, while his father was in office.

Those concerns were brushed aside, however, by the vice president’s office, and the issue was never resolved. Hunter Biden also connected other foreign business associates with his father, including Chinese associates.

The criminal statute of bribery describes giving “anything of value” to an official to “influence” him or her in performing any “official act.” The fact that the “thing of value” might have flowed to Biden’s friends and family, rather than to Biden himself, would not absolve him — and there is evidence that the senior Biden benefited from his family’s gains.

China’s desire to “influence” is clear; it is less clear what “act” Biden did, or did not do.

However, as Democrats reminded us again and again, throughout both Trump impeachment investigations and trials, it is not necessary that a criminal statute be violated for the president to be impeached and removed.

Many scholars say that a president can be impeached only for acts committed after taking office. But Democrats undermined that standard — not only by arguing that Trump could be impeached for “emoluments” as soon as he took office, but also by holding a second Senate trial for Trump even after he had left office in 2021.

And in this case, it could well be argued that Biden’s foreign policy is an ongoing act affected by past financial benefit.

Bribery is one of two acts — the other is treason — mentioned explicitly by the Constitution as impeachable offenses.

Prior to Thursday, the evidence existed on Hunter Biden’s laptop. Now, however, evidence has emerged from the U.S. Treasury.

The House Oversight Committee should turn its investigation into a full impeachment inquiry, with a congressional vote and all attending subpoena powers. No one is above the law.

Oversight Committee Discovers Unreported Funds Biden Family Business Received While Joe Biden Was VP

Biden family business associate Robinson Walker received $179,836.86 on November 5, 2015, while President Joe Biden was vice president, a previously unreported sum the House Oversight Committee revealed Thursday.

Although the sum appears to be insignificant to the $31 million received by the business during Joe Biden’s reign as vice president, the new amount builds upon the previous reporting in 2022 by Breitbart News senior contributor Peter Schweizer. Thursday’s revelation comes after the committee revealed the Biden family business received a $3 million wire transfer from a Chinese entity and subsequent payments after President Joe Biden left the vice presidency in 2017.

It is unknown who sent the $179,836.86 sum to Biden family business associate Robinson Walker, an individual who, three days later on November 9, 2015, used his personal checking account to send a wire to a bank account for “Robert [Hunter] Biden” in the amount of $59,900 (one-third of the total payment) the committee’s investigation has found. Days prior, that same sum amount had been transferred to Walker’s personal checking accounts from the business account.

The $59,900 payment is also the same amount sent in 2017 to European Energy and Infrastructure Group (EEIG) in Abu Dhabi, a company associated with James Gilliar, a second associate of the Biden family business. In 2010, Gilliar founded EEIG, claiming to offer “strategic influences at the highest level within Washington, D.C.,” according to the firm’s website. Notably, Gilliar was a part of the CEFC Energy Co. deal in which Joe Biden (“Big Guy”) would receive a ten percent equity stake in the joint venture with Hunter’s former business partner Tony Bobulinski.

Gilliar was also instrumental in drumming up many business propositions for CEFC to acquire. In a 55-page business proposal dated February 22, 2016, it appears Gilliar proposed CEFC buy the American Westinghouse Electric Company for $5 billion. In an email dated May 14, 2017, Gilliar emailed Bobulinski, Hunter, James Biden, and Walker about a second proposed business deal whereby CEFC would acquire an energy company in Oman. The 41-page proposal suggested future acquisition targets in Columbia and Romania.

Hunter had some experience in Romania. Hunter began working for Romanian Gabriel Popoviciu in the spring of 2015. According to Hunter’s calendar, he met with Joe Biden three times from July 2015 to March 2016 about helping Popoviciu with a “conviction stemming from his purchase of a 550-acre parcel of government-owned land for a steep discount,” the New York Post reported.

The meetings, in addition to whistleblowers, contradict Joe Biden’s claims that he has no knowledge of the family’s business deals. “I’ve never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings. Here’s what I know — I know Trump deserves to be investigated,” Joe Biden claimed in 2019.

“My son has not made money from China. The only guy who has made money from China was this guy,” Joe Biden claimed in a 2020 debate with former President Donald Trump.

It was not the first time Joe Biden conducted family business meetings in the White House as vice president. Joe Biden met with Hunter Biden’s business partner, Eric Schwerin, at the White House 19 times as vice president, according to a new report. Schwerin is expected to soon provide banking documents to the Oversight Committee.

Moreover, Joe Biden reportedly met at the White House with two Chinese energy executives who worked with a Chinese Communist Party-linked company, Wanxiang, on July 25, 2014, between 11 a.m. and 12.15 p.m., emails from Hunter’s laptop reveal. Two years earlier, Seneca Global Advisors, Hunter and Walker’s lobbying business, had a client named GreatPoint Energy that partnered with Wanxiang on a $1.25 billion natural gas plant in communist China. Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping was at the signing deal between the two entities. The deal between GreatPoint Energy and Wanxiang is notable because Hunter’s business, Rosemont Seneca Partners, also invested in the Fisker car company that was bought by Wanxiang after Fisker went bankrupt in 2013.

In 2018 and 2020, Breitbart Senior Contributor and Government Accountability Institute President Peter Schweizer published Secret Empires and Profiles in Corruption. Justice Dept. Investigating TikTok’s Owner Over Possible Spying on Journalists

The inquiry appears to be tied to an admission by the app’s owner, ByteDance, that employees had inappropriately obtained Americans’ data. The company said it had fired the workers involved.

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department is investigating the surveillance of American citizens, including several journalists who cover the tech industry, by the Chinese company that owns TikTok, according to three people familiar with the matter.

The investigation, which began late last year, appears to be tied to the admission in December by the company, ByteDance, that its employees had inappropriately obtained the data of American TikTok users, including that of two reporters and a few of their associates.

The department’s criminal division, the F.B.I. and the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia are investigating ByteDance, which is based in Beijing and has close ties with China’s government, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

A Justice Department spokesman had no comment.

Confirmation of the investigation comes as the White House hardens its stance toward forcing the company to address national security concerns about TikTok. They include fears that China might be using the popular video service to gather data about or spy on Americans, undermine democratic institutions and foster internet addictions among young people.

TikTok disclosed this week that the Biden administration had asked its owner to sell the app — which is already being blocked from government phones in the U.S., Europe and more than two dozen states — or face a possible nationwide ban.

The federal criminal inquiry was reported earlier by Forbes magazine. The journalist who wrote the story said she was one of the people whose data had been tracked by the company.

The ByteDance employees implicated in the surveillance, who were later fired, were trying to find the sources of suspected leaks of internal conversations and business documents to journalists. They gained access to the IP addresses and other data of the reporters and people they were connected to via their TikTok accounts.

Two of the employees were based in China. The company said it was making changes to prevent such breaches in the future.

But the company’s reassurances have done little to quell growing demands by politicians on both sides of the aisle to block or ban the app. President Biden has said he might support an effort, now working its way through Congress, to ban the app in the U.S.

This represents a drastic shift over the past year, when some in the administration were expressing confidence that a compromise could be struck that would allow the company to continue its operations in exchange for major changes to its data security and governance.

TikTok had been hoping that a group of federal agencies known as the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, or CFIUS, would approve of its plans for operating in the country while remaining under the ownership of ByteDance.

But the No. 2 official at the Justice Department, Lisa Monaco, did not sign off on a 90-page draft agreement, and the Treasury Department, which plays a crucial role in approving deals involving national security risks, expressed skepticism that the potential agreement would resolve national security issues, people with knowledge of the matter said.

The White House now seems to be moving fast in the other direction, with senior officials increasingly viewing a divestment as the only acceptable path forward.

Officials with TikTok, which has a robust public relations and lobbying operation in Washington, said they were weighing their options and expressed disappointment with the pressure to sell.

The company said its security proposal, which involves storing Americans’ data in the United States, offered the best possible protection for users.

“If protecting national security is the objective, divestment doesn’t solve the problem: A change in ownership would not impose any new restrictions on data flows or access,” Maureen Shanahan, a spokeswoman for TikTok, said in a statement this week.

TikTok’s chief executive, Shou Zi Chew, is scheduled to testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee next week. He is expected to face questions about the app’s ties to China, as well as concerns that it delivers harmful content to young people.

A spokeswoman for TikTok did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and referred all questions to ByteDance.

A ByteDance spokeswoman did not respond. But she had told Forbes that the company “strongly condemned the actions of the individuals found to have been involved,” and would “cooperate with any official investigations when brought to us.”
