It was remarkable news in 2021 when the Cook County State’s Attorney Office, run by Soros-supported Kim Foxx, refused to prosecute any of the 5 people arrested after a gang shootout on the streets of Chicago. The reason given would have in effect legalized gang shootouts from that point on. You see, both sides were firing at each other. As I wrote at the time:

Five men linked to a deadly gang-related shootout Friday in Austin were released from custody after prosecutors declined to charge each of them with a pair of felonies, including first-degree murder, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.
The brazen mid-morning gunfight, which left one shooter dead and two of the suspects wounded, stemmed from an internal dispute between two factions of the Four Corner Hustlers street gang, according to an internal police report and a law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation.
The source said police sought to charge all five suspects with murder and aggravated battery. By Sunday morning, a Chicago police spokeswoman acknowledged the suspects had “been released without charges.”
In a statement later Sunday, Cristina Villareal, a spokeswoman for the Cook County state’s attorney’s office, explained that prosecutors had “determined that the evidence was insufficient to meet our burden of proof to approve felony charges.” Police officials agreed with the decision, Villareal added.
While she wouldn’t specify what other evidence prosecutors needed to file charges, the police report acknowledged that victims of the shootout weren’t cooperating with investigators.
But the report also framed the state’s attorney’s office’s decision to decline charges in a different light: “Mutual combatants was cited as the reason for the rejection.” Mutual combat is a legal term used to define a fight or struggle that two parties willingly engage in.
If you or your gang shoots at someone or someone’s gang, and if they shoot back, it is a get-out-of-jail free card! Dodge City at its worst was never this bad.
As the impact of the decision sank in, even then-Mayor Lori Lightfoot protested.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot and some West Side aldermen called on Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx to reverse her decision on the case.
"If they do not feel like the criminal justice system is going to hold them accountable, we're going to see a level of brazenness that will send the city into chaos and we cannot let that happen," the mayor said Monday. (snip)
Lightfoot, herself a former prosecutor, believes there's evidence to make a case.
"I think that there's evidence there. We've got videotape, we have a marked squad of uniformed officers who were on the scene observing it," she said. "At a bare minimum, the individuals who initiated the firefight must be prosecuted."
"I think it goes beyond frustration, I'm furious about it," said 29th Ward Alderman Chris Taliaferro, who oversees the ward where the shooting took place.
Soros money or no Soros money, this was too much for Kim Foxx to resist. As the invaluable CWBChicago website writes:
Months later, after public outrage subsided, prosecutors approved charges against one man—Thomas Dean.
On Wednesday, Dean pleaded guilty to three felony gun charges in exchange for a 10-year prison sentence, court records show. Judge Thomas Byrne sentenced him to three years for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and ten years each for a pair of machine gun possession charges. The sentences will be served concurrently.

But in announcing the charges in early 2022, the outrageous justification for early no charges decision was completely ignored:
Four months later, Lightfoot, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, and then-CPD Supt. David Brown stood side-by-side to announce charges against Dean. Foxx denied that her office cited “mutual combatants” for refusing to charge Dean and others earlier.
Foxx also said officials had secured a search warrant against another target, and she expected additional charges to be filed in the days ahead. But court records show no other defendants charged in Dean’s case as of Friday morning. Officials have also not announced any charges against others.
Chicago police repeatedly tried to get prosecutors to sign off on murder charges against Dean. That never happened.
So, four others involved in the shootout and arrested at the time are skating, despite earlier promises. Dean’s sentence is serious time, even with parole, although early release due to prison overcrowding cannot be ruled out.
Chicago’s homicide clearance rate (the percentage of crimes resulting in successful prosecution) is already low, especially in black neighborhoods where gang shootouts predominate:
In 2021, there were 800 homicides counted. The clearance rate by prosecution was 21.7% in predominately Black neighborhoods, yet 45.6% in predominantly White neighborhoods. The study also found that since 2001, the rate of unsolved homicides for Black women is at 35% compared to 23% for White women.
Dean’s plea bargain alone is not going to change the statistics. But at least one instance of prosecutorial insanity has been corrected -- for one of five defendants.
It’s not much, but it is a lot better than the get-out-of-jail-free card that was earlier handed out to the gangs of Chicago.
Some have said that "woke" is a virus of the mind that affects the ability to understand and interact with reality. Jack Posobiec recently spoke at the Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) in Budapest, Hungary, where he explained how being woke "fundamentally subverts one's ability to function and engage with reality in a meaningful and authentic way."
People infected with wokeness blame racism, white supremacy, homophobes, misogyny, religion, climate change, capitalism, etc. when things don't go their way. They insist that a human is a man when biology proves, through DNA, anatomical bone structure, and genitalia she was born with, that the human is female. And vice versa. Woke has become a medical industrial money-making vehicle for transgender surgeries and lifelong hormones, starting in early childhood. Body dysmorphia is a mental condition for which treatment is needed. Just like anorexia. Both may be fatal.
The woke want to spread their ideology. They attempt to control language through invented words and phrases. They impose rules for others to use: pronouns, of their choice, for example. If the pronouns they claim are not obeyed to their satisfaction, they may threaten violence due to trigger words, which they call verbal violence. Or they may announce that someone hurt their feelings, and that person is therefore evil.
This mental virus is contagious, spread by activist media propaganda, such as TV networks, Hollywood, commercials, movies, newspapers, social media, professional sports, Wikipedia (definitions changed to woke-approved), and search engines like Google (directing to woke sites). Schools and other institutions are infected though DIE (diversity, inclusion, equity) training, etc. This has penetrated retail, business, banks, and all government-run agencies. Since it has penetrated the military, enrollment in our armed services has decreased dramatically.
Those with the woke virus put the needs of their delusions in front of the needs of others, as in what bathroom is chosen and what sport to compete in. Those with the virus nurse falsities over consideration of the freedoms, rights, and privacy of others. Others must be converted, silenced, blocked, or canceled, as the woke are the only ones who are entitled. LGBT must be validated and celebrated constantly, with verbal validation, parades, demonstrations, drag shows, etc. according to the woke.

We need to look at our school system the last several decades. What is being taught? Many parents were shocked when they first noticed what their children were being taught during COVID-19 lockdowns, when children were learning at home on computers. Schools claim to own children and therefore teach them what they desire. Children are learning that people are either oppressed or a privileged oppressor based on the color of their skin. Also that the LGBT agenda is to be honored and taught early in elementary school, with instructions on specific sexual acts, with diagrams and pictures. It also encourages children to question their own gender and to change it, with the full cooperation of the school system. They will, however deny that this is going on in schools, even after evidence is revealed.
Woke acts as a foundation from which all other lessons are built. Reading, writing, mathematics, science — all spring from a woke philosophy. Many decades ago, subjects and not ideology were the focus. Parents started rebelling against woke teaching with some localized success. Some were labeled domestic terrorists and placed on FBI lists (woke is the philosophy of the current administration) but still fought valiantly. Some placed their children in alternative schools, or home school. Children's literacy scores and mental health improved.
It is difficult to hide or protect oneself and family from the potent woke virus. Those infected find it difficult to control their language and actions due to their raging anger, a prominent symptom of the virus. It often causes violence, in an attempt to block all others who are not infected from interacting and sharing information. People infected often act out their delusions by riots, toppling statues, setting police cars on fire, screaming in faces, blocking roads and entrances, or causing so much noise and commotion that conservative speakers at events are unable to be heard.
It is not surprising that the number of people with anxiety, depression, drug use, self-inflicted trauma, and other mental illnesses have skyrocketed. It destroys relationships and families due to the result of the woke disruptive hostile attitudes, intimidation, and mental illness.
Wokeness may also lead to assaults, or deaths by homicide — even to the suicide of the inflicted woke victim, as untreated anger turns inward. News is blocked, or labeled misinformation by woke elites. The woke watch and listen only to those who feed their falsities as the illness escalates.
The current administration invites woke-ridden people to the White House for galas, entertainment, photo ops, and consultations on the best way to encourage the spread of the virus. Government has their full encouragement and backing.
This viral delusion is extended to their policies — for example, open borders with millions of illegal crossings, ignoring border laws. Yet this administration insists the border is secure. Ask a woke person, and he will say the borders are not open. Another policy that supports the false reality is the "Inflation Reduction Act," printing trillions of dollars for giving away to other countries and establishing programs for illegal invaders breaking our border laws. This is, incidentally the party against voter ID. Printing more and more money will, in the end, cause inflation as it devalues the dollar. Will the dollar soon become like a grain of sand on the beach? Several failed countries have proven that it will.
Those who remain grounded in reality are evil, according to this administration. Opponents are "full of anger, violence, hate, and division."
Propaganda and delusional thinking work to sway a population and solidify a particular ideology. Major issues facing the country and world are ignored, denied, or covered up, never to be addressed. When reality is censored, silenced, and canceled, wokeness owns the media. This explains the increased mental illness and division in our country.
"Tell a lie often enough, and it becomes the truth." Many versions of this have been repeated and attributed to several leaders throughout history — people like Joseph Goebbels, Adolf Hitler, Vladimir Lenin — but its origin is attributed to Isa Blagden, who wrote Crown of Life (1869). It is common knowledge to the elite and powerful. And the media activists have obediently spread the false propaganda widely.
John Adams said almost 250 years ago that "our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
Are we the same people for whom this country was built? Do we still value God, family, and country?
Last year, California’s Gov. Newsom announced that he was dismantling Death Row, providing relief to monsters like the “Grim Sleeper” serial killer who killed nine women, the “Yosemite Killer,” and Charles Ng, who raped, tortured, and killed unknown numbers of women.
New York Democrats have decided to go one better by offering parole to serial killers.
The campaign, promoted by celebrities like Common and John Legend, could set the worst monsters in prison loose on a city and state already drowning in crime.
Senate Bill S2423, known to its backers as Elder Parole, eliminates life sentences by offering parole to all prisoners regardless of how horrific their crimes may have been.
Any murderer, rapist, or pedophile over the age of 55, who spent at least 15 years in prison, will be automatically eligible for parole under a pro-crime bill that has 33 state senate co-sponsors.
Potential parolees could include the “Son of Sam” serial killer, mass shooter Colin “Black Rage” Ferguson, and Richard “Angel of Death” Angelo, a nurse who poisoned dozens of patients. Even if these monsters aren’t paroled immediately, numberless other killers, rapists and pedophiles will be set loose.
After New York Democrats abolished bail and set out to free as many criminals as possible, homicide rates and all crime rates shot up. Many of the Democrat legislators proposing to end life sentences and free serial killers had also backed previous pro-crime measures like the “Less is More Act” which put more convicts back on the street and kept them there.
Charles Rowe (pictured above) raped and stabbed to death a 10-year-old girl; after being paroled he went on a crime spree, but he was kept on the street thanks to Gov. Hochul and the Democrat “Less is More Act,” until he sexually assaulted a 69-year-old woman.
“Let’s not turn this into a murder,” Rowe told his victim.
Not satisfied with the massive increase in crime since the wave of pro-crime laws were unrolled, New York Democrats are on a mission to free every single criminal in prison. Literally.
Senate Bill 2423 or Elder Parole complains that “New York State holds the shameful distinction of having the third-largest population of people serving terms of life imprisonment in the country.” The victims that Elder Parole is lobbying for include not only Son of Sam, but John Jamelske, who ran a house of horrors in his homemade dungeon, and Joel Rifkin, who dismembered women and scattered their parts across parts of New York and New Jersey.
There’s also Calvin Jackson, who murdered nine women in Manhattan and then sexually assaulted their corpses. Jackson is black, making him one of the “disproportionately black and Latinx” monsters that the Democrat pro-crime Elder Parole bill claims are “aging rapidly behind bars.”
Sen. Brad Hoylman-Sigal, who is responsible for the proposal to free all the serial killers, does not believe that it’s “shameful” that these crimes were committed against innocent women or that it took so long to catch these monsters; he only believes that it’s shameful that we keep them locked up instead of setting them loose so they can strangle and dismember more women.
“There is a growing consensus among people across the political spectrum that mass incarceration is ineffective, flawed, and racially biased,” Sen. Hoylman-Sigal’s bill argues. That pro-crime consensus among leftists and libertarians has already led to thousands of added deaths over the past few years. Murder rates continue rising nationwide while pro-crime Democrats like Hoylman-Sigal argue that we just haven’t freed enough monsters.
The pro-crime Democrats backing the Elder Parole bill claim that their bill isn’t meant to free serial killers and the worst offenders, but whom exactly do they think is serving life sentences?
Had they wanted to exclude serial killers, murderers, and pedophiles, all they had to do was add a few words to their bill. Sen. Hoylman-Sigal and pro-crime Democrats chose not to do so because they want to provide the Son of Sam and every other monster with a chance at parole.
And if they don’t get paroled on their first try, they will automatically be able to reapply “no more than 24 months later.” Go through parole hearings often enough and something may give. Just ask Sirhan Sirhan, Robert F. Kennedy’s killer, who was recommended for parole in 2021.
New York Democrats could have chosen to limit the scope of the Elder Parole bill by excluding murderers, serial killers or child rapists. They didn’t do that because they wanted them to have a chance at parole. Why? It’s right there in the bill. They oppose “mass incarceration.”
The pro-crime bill contains no mention of victims except for the name of the committee responsible for this abomination: the Senate Crime Victims, Crime And Correction Committee.
Sen. Brad Hoylman-Sigal and his pro-crime allies announced the launch of the Elder Parole bill at a session with Release Aging People in Prison Campaign (RAPP). And afterward? RAPP’s site contains a proposal titled, “The Next Step: Ending Excessive Punishment for Violent Crimes” in order to “end mass incarceration.” Life sentences are considered “excessive.”
The ultimate goal of the pro-crime movement is to free all the criminals, to eliminate police and prisons, and turn everyone who isn’t a criminal into a victim. This endgame is to be achieved through incremental measures like freeing “non-violent offenders” and then violent offenders over 55 and then all criminals. A growing list of crimes will be decriminalized. Police will be replaced with pro-crime social workers, prisons with “restorative justice” and public safety with perpetual terror. That is what “ending mass incarceration” and “defunding police” really means.
There will still be some crimes punishable with the harshest sentences. Just ask former Marine Daniel Penny who put his life on the line to stop deranged subway psycho Jordan Neely.
In a society of criminals run for the benefit of criminals, self-defense is the only crime.
Gov. Hochul and New York’s Democrat Senate and Assembly legislative majority under pro-crime politicians like Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Assembly Speaker Carl E. Heastie will quickly roll out the end of life sentences and parole for the worst criminals the way that they have every previous piece of pro-crime legislation.
New York will become even more violent and dangerous. Innocent people will be robbed, beaten and killed by the criminals whom the Democrats have set loose on the populace.
And if you happen to spot the Son of Sam or the Angel of Death while riding the A train, try not to make eye contact. They might take it personally.

The judge, who was getting out of his vehicle when the holdup happened, was not injured.
Sure, a story like this might be anecdotal, but look at what it says about how lawless Democrat-run Oakland has become.
No criminal is looking to get caught or go to jail, and these three men are still running around in masks robbing people in broad daylight outside a courthouse. That’s how confident they were that 1) no one would catch them or 2) if they were caught, they wouldn’t serve any jail time.
What’s next, a holdup at a police station?
What I can’t get over is people with a choice choosing to live like this.

Like every city in America, Oakland is a representative democracy. That means the citizens of Oakland can—if they choose—elect a mayor and district attorney who will do something about crime, and doing something about the crime is no secret. If you put criminals in jail, crime rates decrease. If you put repeat criminals in jail, crime rates plummet. This is not rocket science.
But for some reason, the people of Oakland want to live like this. There’s no other explanation. This week, there was a much-publicized community meeting where Oakland residents complained about the horrors (which I am very familiar with) of living in a high-crime area. But…
How many vote Democrat and will do so again in the next election?

Seriously, y’all, stop worrying about Oakland.
Oakland is getting exactly what it wants and what it voted for, which means Oakland is Oakland’s problem.
The 20 percent who don’t vote Democrat in Alameda County have to get the hell out of Oakland.
And, yes, you can get out.
I never have been and never will be wealthy, but in search of a better life, I have moved out of state four times—twice clear across the country. All four times, I packed myself up and did the driving, but I got out.
Oakland is lost. Oakland is doomed. Oakland is so lost and doomed and beyond fixing that Oakland judges are getting mugged outside Oakland courthouses.
This kind of lawlessness is not a tragedy, social ill, or even unfortunate. What’s happening in Oakland (and Atlanta, Chicago, St. Louis, Baltimore, etc.) is a choice—a choice made by voters that says they want to live this way.
Oakland is not my problem.
Oakland is not an American problem.
Oakland is only one thing: a blessing for sane people, a reminder of how good those of us in MAGA Utopia have it.

When nations die, they do so with surprising speed. Ernest Hemingway made a similar observation when a person in his novel was asked how he went bankrupt, and his reply was, "Gradually, then suddenly."
Nations are built upon classical values — perseverance, self-reliance, and honor. A great nation is one whose values have made it unusually prosperous. In its latter days, the nation becomes hollowed out and burdened with a costly, top-heavy government. The middle class is expected to provide generosity to the masses. Over time, traditional values fade away, and everyone seeks to live off everyone else.
The United States shows aspects of a once great power past its prime. It is socially and politically divided, aware of the necessity for changes, unable or unwilling to make them, and losing the conviction in the shared goals that earlier invigorated it.
The decay that started gradually decades ago is now metastasizing at warp speed. The United States, ripped apart internally, has become ever less willing and able to lead internationally. The doctrines that built the United States and Western civilization, assimilated from ancient cultures over thousands of years, are being methodically dissolved. America is entering an uncharted, revolutionary time. The foundation of American life, abundant food, energy autonomy, a sound economy, sound education at all levels, and enforceable and equal application of the law, are eroding.
Our society is "fundamentally changing," and these changes are not for the better. Hard-left fanatics have absorbed the Democrat party and are transforming the country with woke and equality-of-result agendas. Prosperity and leisure have misled a complacent society into thinking the modern age no longer needs to worry about law and order.
As we recoil from spontaneous street violence and looting, Americans are coming to learn just how degraded the foundations of their society have become. Criminals walk out with stolen merchandise without fear of the law or even the outrage of witnesses. Defunding the police has discharged a torrent of criminals into the streets. Downgrading felonies, no cash bail, and no jail time are spiking violent crime. Lawlessness has become a political matter where race, ideology, and politics decide how the law will be enforced.
At the border, millions of people enter our country illegally. Joe Biden is shamefully welcoming an unvetted third-world population into our country to dilute and displace native-born Americans. No country can exist without a border, much less allow foreign crime cartels to control it while killing 100,000 citizens with drugs yearly.
The FBI is more likely to go after parents at school board meetings than those threatening the homes of Supreme Court justices. CIA and FBI directors lie under oath without consequence. They mislead the public and deceive Congress with stories of fake dossiers. They contract private news organizations to censor stories they do not like and writers whom they fear. And the IRS is weaponized against political opponents of the Democrats.
Possibly a million homeless people now live on our streets. Our major cities are cesspools of human filth with open sewers, garbage-strewn streets, and drugged out drifters.
Grocery shelves are increasingly bare, and many food items are now beyond people's budgets. Fuel costs are reaching record levels, new cars and homes are unaffordable, and inflation is at a 40-year high. The necessary medicine of high interest rates to bring down inflation is nearly as painful as the inflation itself.
The federal government spends $1.29 for every dollar in tax revenues it receives, and a quarter of IRS revenues are now needed to cover interest payments on the debt. Economic doom, market collapse, and bank runs are not far from people's minds.
China is leading BRICS countries to replace the dollar's standing as the world's reserve currency. Any success they attain will lessen demand for dollars and possibly collapse the dollar's exchange rate.
Moreover, the Chinese Communist Party authorities think they have a chance to bolster their power and change the world order in their favor. Because China's broad geopolitical interests are on the rise, a pressing question is how to check China's ambitions at a time of division and discord in America. China's current foreign policy could not happen without its substantial military forces and three-decades-long economic growth, underwritten by its exports to America.
Sensing American weakness, the CCP may invade Taiwan before Joe Biden leaves office. Are the American people willing to fight over Taiwan or freedom of navigation issues near Chinese-claimed islands? What are we truly ready to fight for? When that happens, are we prepared for economic devastation to the U.S. and the world? Meanwhile, thousands of Chinese sleeper agents are crossing our open southern border to cause mayhem when called upon to do so.
Today's threat arises from a disintegrating world order. More than at any other recent time, many dangerous intersecting events are happening at a time when the United States is unprepared to deal with them.
And it all culminates with the elections in November 2024. Democrats can win only by cheating, and since they did it successfully in 2020, you can expect them to do it again. While some election integrity measures have been increased in some states, almost nothing has been done anywhere to require open-source computer programming code of voting machines so we can be assured they are counting votes correctly. Moreover, nothing has been done to prevent voting machines from being hacked to alter election outcomes. At this point, the left has become brazenly indifferent as to whether anyone even knows of its cheating. Court challenges almost always go the leftists' way.
Regardless of who is declared the winner, there will be unrest. There could be a breakdown in civil order nationwide. If the left loses, leftists will riot and loot in a replay of the 2020 BLM riots. If the right loses, this will be a turning point, as we can't go on being lied to and threatened by the left. Another stolen election will break our country.
The decay that began slowly long ago is now upon us in full force. The only election historically comparable to 2024 was in 1860, and that one was followed by a civil war. We must defend our freedom and our country and protect it with everything we have or lose it all. We must be involved and understand that if we lose the election in 2024, America, as we know it, is over. To save the nation, all constitutionally minded Americans must see the danger and gird themselves for what lies ahead.

The number of foreign nationals holding jobs in the United States has hit the highest level since the Labor Department began tracking the data in 1996 as the employment of native-born Americans declines, a trend under President Joe Biden.
In 2022, foreign-born workers saw their share of the labor market hit the highest level in almost 30 years at more than 18 percent, with close to 30 million now holding U.S. jobs, according to data published in the Wall Street Journal.

Nearly a quarter of a million people 55 or older are estimated by the government to have been homeless for at least part of 2019.
According to the Washington Post, “People 55 and older represented 16.5 percent of America’s homeless population of 1.45 million in 2019, according to the most recent reliable data.”
According to a 2022 University of Pennsylvania Study by Rebecca Brown, an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine, and several coauthors from the University of California San Francisco, over one-third of the homeless population are now single adults over 50, triple the figure in 1990 when it stood at 11 percent.
The government makes little effort to count the homeless. The Department of Housing and Urban Development, the only federal source of information on homelessness disaggregated by age, delayed its release of the second part of their Annual Homeless Assessment Report to Congress by two years, making it difficult to get an idea of the scale of homelessness among the elderly in real time.
The latest information on homelessness with respect to the elderly is from 2019, though advocates of the homeless have noted that there is evidence that it is growing, pointing to numerous examples.
The largest shelter provider in Arizona, Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS), is rushing to open an over-55 shelter in a former Phoenix hotel this summer with “private rooms and medical and social services tailored for older people.” The provider says that it served 1,717 elderly in 2022, a 43 percent increase compared to 2021.
In Orange County, California, a Medicaid plan, CalOptima Health, is creating a 119-bed shelter which will serve as an assisted-living facility for the elderly, according to Kelly Bruno-Nelson, executive director for the plan. Bruno-Nelson stated that the current shelter system “cannot accommodate the physical needs of this population.” Seniors are staying in respite centers for months in San Francisco, California, Portland, Oregon, and Anchorage, Alaska, that were intended for a short-term stay only. In Boise, Idaho, shelter operators are hiring staff with backgrounds in long-term care to help elderly homeless living for long periods in hotels.
“It’s just a catastrophe. This is the fastest-growing group of people who are homeless,” said Dr. Margot Kushel, a professor of medicine and vulnerable populations researcher at the University of California at San Francisco.
Elderly homeless contract chronic diseases much earlier than younger people, as well as suffering from geriatric problems. Poor access to care due to homelessness, and the threat of having their medications stolen or going bad outside, stress from having to weather the outdoors, as well as generally unsanitary conditions, and the difficulties created by the anti-homeless laws being passed around the country, all contribute to poor health outcomes.
A Journal of the American Medical Association study titled, “Factors Associated With Mortality Among Homeless Older Adults in California: The HOPE HOME Study,” detailed how, over an average of 55 months, unhoused people over 50 years died at a rate 3.5 times greater than their housed counterparts. The findings are consistent with previous studies in other parts of the country.
Dennis Culhane, a professor and social science researcher at the University of Pennsylvania, said that the population of homeless seniors 65 and older would double or even triple from 2017 before peaking around 2030.
This increase is driven by poverty. One half of renters over 50 spend more than 30 percent of their household income on rent, according to the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University.
As the American Society on Aging Generations journal noted, “Low-income people who spend more than 30 percent of their income on rent are unable to save money, leaving them vulnerable to losing their housing when they face setbacks, such as a job loss, sickness, or death of a spouse or partner.”
In other words, homelessness is a class issue. The financial elite that both parties represent, and the upper middle class have no reason to worry about becoming homeless. The workers on the other hand, such as the homeless former autoworker that the Post interviewed, are the ones which this malady overwhelmingly affects.

The ruling class has no response to the increase in homelessness among the elderly. Indeed, hardly any media coverage is to be found on the topic. As it doesn’t fit into the categories of race or gender, the Democratic Party wing of the political establishment finds it more convenient to merely remain quiet on the topic.
The plans to attack Medicare and Social Security under the phony pretense of fighting debt, while dumping literally over a trillion dollars into American imperialism’s war machine—not to mention the nearly unlimited bailouts sunk into the pockets of the financial elite—shows the real disdain for the elderly.
If anything, the response given by the ruling elite is to step up the attacks on the elderly, foster reactionary sentiments against them (as a burden to society and the young), and ultimately to reduce life expectancy.
The corporate media has railed against the elderly, endorsing dying early. This was visible in the campaign for the pro-corporate health plan Obamacare (the Affordable Care Act) in which the New York Times spearheaded this narrative. The result of Obamacare was to contribute to a decrease in life expectancy. One of the chief architects of Obamacare, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, openly advocated for a reduction in life expectancy.
The aim of the ruling class is to extract as much profit from workers as possible while they are of working age and then for them to die quickly so they don’t subtract from profits and funds for warfare. Putting the elderly out on the streets will contribute to a higher mortality rate. It is another indication of the bankruptcy of capitalism that it is not just incapable of preserving life for the elderly, but actively hostile to it.
