The California Senate on Tuesday voted to pay $300 weekly checks to unemployed illegal immigrants even as the state faces a roughly $31.5 billion deficit and mass illegal immigration.

Democratic state senators passed Senate Bill 227 by Sen. MarĂa Elena Durazo (D.) with a 30-7 vote, sending the measure to the Assembly for approval. The legislation would offer undocumented aliens up to 20 weeks of unemployment benefits if they meet minimal work requirements.

California’s unemployment insurance fund, which was defrauded of some $31 billion during the COVID-19 pandemic, would be in charge of dispensing the checks. California employers are on the hook for the fund’s $20 billion debt in the form of higher payroll taxes that threaten employee-heavy small businesses and restaurants already devastated by California Democrats’ strict COVID-19 lockdowns.

Under SB 227, unemployment fund officials would be barred from asking for claimants’ social security number eligibility or contacting past or present employers to verify their job status. Instead, applicants would self-attest that they meet the requirements for the weekly checks: having earned at least $1,300 or worked at least 93 hours over three months. Acceptable documentation would include tax returns, transaction logs on payment apps, and receipts that show a commuting pattern.

The State Senate passed the measure just months after Gov. Gavin Newsom (D.) said the undocumented migrant influx could "break" California. Earlier this month, when President Joe Biden lifted the federal Title 42 health order restricting immigration, Democratic San Diego mayor Todd Gloria complained that his city would be overwhelmed and lacks "the resources to address an influx of migrants," according to the New York Times.

The Golden State already offers free health coverage and driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. More than two million illegal immigrants live in California.

Tuesday's measure sailed easily through the State Senate. A formidable list of Democratic-aligned lobbying groups are pushing for its passage, including immigration, LGBT, and environmental organizations as well as powerful labor unions.

The law is expected to pass the Assembly, but Newsom has not said whether he plans to sign it. When he was inaugurated, Newsom labeled California a "sanctuary" state
welcoming illegal immigrants. He has called the state a "model of partnership for a safe and welcoming border." Last year, however, Newsom vetoed a similar bill that would have established an unemployment insurance pilot program for undocumented workers, saying "this bill needs further work to address the operational issues and fiscal concerns, including a dedicated funding source for benefits."

RFK Jr. Champions Economic Populism: Protect American Workers with Tariffs

Democrat presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is championing a populist-nationalist approach to the United States economy, vowing to impose tariffs on foreign imports to protect American workers and industries from unfair trade competition.

In a series of Twitter posts, Kennedy detailed the nation’s growing wealth inequalities whereby the very top earners — many of which are billionaires — have seen their share of income grow exponentially while the share of income among working- and middle-class Americans has steadily declined.

The breakdown of unions — in part, as a result of decades-long job-killing free trade policies — has coincided with growing income inequalities, Kennedy noted.

“The top share of income going to the top 10% has increased from 35% in 1945 to more than 45% today. Union membership has declined in the same period from 33% to about 10% — its lowest level since the 1930s,” he wrote on Twitter:

From the end of WWII through the 1980s, income distribution stayed relatively constant. But union membership began declining, and the share of income going to the bottom 90% followed it. Capitalism only functions equitably if workers have the collective bargaining power of unions, so they can claim a fair share of the economic pie. [Emphasis added]

In terms of countering the decline of working- and middle-class income growth, Kennedy said the U.S. ought to impose tariffs on foreign imports to protect its workforce and domestic industries from widespread offshoring of American jobs at the hands of multinational corporations.

“As President, I will protect American labor AND American industry,” Kennedy wrote on Twitter. “One thing I will consider: tariffs on imports from countries that allow exploitation of workers. American industries should not be forced to offshore to low-wage areas as nations compete with each other to sacrifice wages and working conditions in a ‘race to the bottom.'”

While free trade and trade deficits have eliminated millions of American jobs, devastating working- and middle-class communities, tariffs would likely drive up domestic production, increase wages, and reshore jobs to the U.S., research has shown.

A recent study from economists at the Coalition for a Prosperous America, for instance, finds that tariffs on nearly all foreign imports would create about ten million American jobs while boosting domestic output.

As Kennedy mentioned, middle-class wealth has dropped to a historic low.

The middle class, as of 2021, includes 77.5 million U.S. households with an annual income of $27,000 to $141,000. In October 2021, Breitbart News reported the top one percent of income earners in the U.S. now hold more wealth than the entire American middle class.

Specifically, the middle class has seen its share of national wealth plummet to just 26.6 percent while the top one percent’s share of wealth has grown to 27 percent — the first time in U.S. history that the top one percent’s share of wealth has outpaced the middle class’s share of wealth.

Exclusive – J.D. Vance: GOP Must Call Out Illegal Immigration as ‘Economic Warfare’ Against Working Americans

Republicans must be “hammering” away at illegal immigration as “economic warfare” against working- and middle-class Americans, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) told Breitbart News.

In an exclusive interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Saturday, Vance called on Republicans to discuss illegal immigration as a fixture of “the cheap labor lobby” which seeks to inflate the United States labor market to drive down wages and employ an underclass of cheaper foreign workers with little-to-no bargaining power.

LISTEN:

“Republicans cannot stop hammering this stuff … we cannot ignore the cheap labor lobby is why we have this problem,” Vance said of the surge of illegal immigration that has occurred on Biden’s watch.

In addition to driving down wages and increasing foreign competition against Americans in the labor market, Vance said illegal immigration has a huge impact on housing prices as more demand means higher costs and bigger payouts for real estate developers and landlords.

“Think of the effects that this has on working Americans’ wages to have 10 million more people who shouldn’t be here competing for jobs,” Vance said. “Think about what this does for housing prices, when you have to house 10 million people that shouldn’t be here, that drives up the costs of housing when interest rates are already through the roof.”

“This is economic warfare and theft of the American dream from American citizens, that is the big problem here and that’s why we have to keep fighting it,” he continued.

Vance echoed that sentiment during an interview with Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow on the Charlie Kirk Show, detailing how Americans looking to buy their first home or move into a new property are put at a disadvantage as they are forced to compete for housing against a growing foreign population.

LISTEN:

“If you’ve gone to a hospital or emergency room and you’ve seen the wait times be way too long because there are a number of illegal aliens getting healthcare, you’re seeing the effects of Ohio being a border state,” Vance said.

“If you’ve tried to buy a house and you’ve seen the effects of skyrocketing housing costs and interest rates, you’re seeing the effects of Ohio as a border state because when you bring in 10 million people illegally, you’ve got to house them somewhere, and houses that should go to American citizens right now are going to people who should not be here in the first place,” he continued.

Vance said President Joe Biden and his Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas are “not even hiding” their intended goal anymore, noting remarks made last week where the agency head seemingly admitted that illegal immigration is a boon for business.

Meanwhile, labor market data has shown that Biden is growing the U.S. workforce by funneling millions of border crossers, illegal aliens, foreign visa workers, and legal immigrants into American jobs, while leaving millions of working- and middle-class Americans on the sidelines.

In the fourth quarter of 2022, for example, close to two million fewer native-born Americans were working in jobs compared to the same time in 2019, while two million foreign-born workers were added to the workforce.

A flooded labor market from mass immigration has had a devastating impact on working- and middle-class Americans, while redistributing billions in wealth to the top one percent of earners and big business. While creating an economy that tilts in favor of employers, the mass immigration economic model has helped keep wages stagnant for decades.

Mass Migration Putting ‘Unbearable’ Strain on Housing Market, as Hundreds of Thousands of New Homes Needed to Meet Demand

PORTLAND, ENGLAND - MAY 13: Protesters and port security are seen during a rally against the UK government's plans to house 500 migrants on a barge off the Dorset coast on May 13, 2023 in Portland, England. Organisers, Stand Up To Racism Dorset, have said the march and protest at …

The Tory government’s decision to further open the gates to mass migration — clearly against the will of the people — is placing an “unbearable” strain on the housing market, the Migration Watch UK has said amid warnings that hundreds of thousands of new homes will be needed to keep up with the artificially high demand.

Last week, it was revealed that rather than fulfilling very longstanding promises to the public of reducing migration, the governing Conservative Party under Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has overseen yet another record in terms of net migration, with 1.2 million foreigners moving to Britain in 2022. Once those who left the country in that period were taken to account, the nation was left with a record-breaking 606,000 net migration figure.

While liberal elites often try to overshadow the impacts of mass migration — with often the very same property-owning class benefiting from rising prices of houses in their asset portfolios — the economic and social impacts on the native working classes can be devastating.

Over the past near-30 years — since the gates of mass migration were opened by Tony Blair and intensified under successive Tory governments — wages have all but flatlined, with the median income only increasing by £90 in real terms per week since 1997.

During the same time frame, the average price of a house in the UK soared from £130,499 in 1997 to £269,242 in 2022 when adjusted for inflation, according to the real estate site AllAgents, meaning that while housing costs have jumped by 106 per cent, wages have only increased by 16 per cent, effectively pricing out millions from getting onto the property ladder.

In comments made to Breitbart London, Mike Jones, Executive Director of Migration Watch UK said: “Britain does not ‘need’ mass immigration. It has a rapidly-rising population of 67 million people, and considerable reserves of unused labour. In a densely populated country like ours, population growth is putting unbearable pressure on public services, placing huge demands on scarce land and housing.”

“Ultimately, it’s the British taxpayer who bears the burden: through higher taxes, longer waiting times and choking congestion. And yet the government has been encouraging more and more migration. People have come to the end of their tether; and that is why we have launched our petition urging the government to reduce net migration to less than 100,000 per year, it’s their chance to make their voice heard.”

During the time of mass migration, Britain has seen its population density (people per square kilometer of land area) spike from 241 in 1997 to 277 in 2020, making it the third most densely populated country in Europe, only trailing behind The Netherlands and Belgium, according to World Bank data.

The 2021 Census revealed that the population of England and Wales hit its highest level in recorded history, increasing by 3.5 million from 56 million to 59.6 million over the past decade, which the ONS has admitted was largely driven by mass migration, with 57 per cent of population growth being a result of immigration since 2011.

The effect of migration on the housing market is often disputed by the liberal elites. Yet according to an analysis conducted by the City of London investment bank Investec found that the latest record-breaking year of mass migration would require 250,000 homes to be built “just to satisfy the last 12 months of net migration”.

The rental market has been similarly squeezed by the huge influx of foreigners, many of whom cannot afford to buy a house and therefore are forced to rent. Imogen Pattison, of Capital Economics, told The Telegraph last week that the past year of migration would lead to the demand for an additional 205,000 rental houses and said that “net immigration in the UK could have increased rents by up to 8 per cent” over the past year, alone.

“Mass immigration has caused two decades of real terms wage stagnation among middle-low earners, alongside skyrocketing property inflation,” Bow Group Chairman Ben Harris-Quinney told Breitbart London.

“It has disproportionately benefited the wealthiest and hurt the poorest more than any policy in history. Alongside this it has uprooted the cultural heritage of many of the poorest areas in Britain, leaving most the wealthiest areas untouched.”

The decision then by the globalist government in Westminster seemingly then fulfills the WEF mantra of “you will own nothing and be happy”. The fewer people who can get onto the property ladder has serious societal ramifications, such as driving down fertility rates as citizens feel less secure in their lives and delay big decisions.

In 2020, the native-born fertility rate fell to its lowest level in recorded history, at 1.58 children per woman, far below the needed 2.1 children ‘replacement rate’ needed to maintain the population. Yet, foreigners saw their fertility rate rise to 1.98, with the most popular country of origin being Pakistan.

Although housing is typically viewed only through the lens of economics, rental and housing prices have been demonstrated to have a direct correlation with fertility rates.

“Faster-rising rents are associated with lower fertility for all age groups: for women in their 20s or 30s, if rent is rising, fertility is falling. While some families get income from rental properties, this is far less numerous than the families paying rent, and families earning money from rent tend to be older, more geographically dispersed, and less fertile anyway,” the Institute for Family Studies noted.

Yet, this demographic collapse among Britons does not appear to concern the elites in the Conservative Party, with former Health Secretary Sajid Javid saying “so what?” in response to Brexit leader Nigel Farage expressing concern about major cities such as Birmingham becoming minority-majority cities.
