THE BIDEN - MAYORKAS ORCHESTRATED INVASION OF 'CHEAP' LABOR AIN'T SO 'CHEAP" - Adams: Migrant Influx Is ‘Greatest’ ‘Humanitarian Crisis the City Has Ever Witnessed’

CBS: Now that Migrant Crisis ‘in These Big Cities the Way that It Is, It’s Time to Pay Attention’ — There’s Resource ‘Drain’

On Tuesday’s broadcast of “CBS Mornings,” CBS News National Correspondent Jericka Duncan stated that we’ve been talking about the problems of dealing with migrants in the U.S. for “decades upon decades” but now that the issue “is in these big cities the way that it is, it’s time to pay attention.”

After a report on how New York City is dealing with its surge of migrants, Duncan said, “So many issues at stake. Obviously, as we were speaking [about] during the package, the right to work. And what the mayor was saying is there [are] 12,000 jobs right now that he’s hoping people would apply for in the city, and that is the migrants contributing to the economy, as opposed to this long process where it takes forever to get the work permit. I mean, listen, decades upon decades we’ve been talking about it, but now that it is in these big cities the way that it is, it’s time to pay attention.”

Co-host Tony Dokoupil added, “The only solution here is clearly a federal one. Federal law needs to be changed so people can work, or you need to speed up the asylum process so judges can review cases. But again, that’s a federal fix. It’s multi-year that they’re here and they can’t work, it’s going to be a big drain on the resources.”

Adams: Migrant Influx Is ‘Greatest’ ‘Humanitarian Crisis the City Has Ever Witnessed’

During a portion of an interview with CBS News aired on Tuesday’s broadcast of “CBS Mornings,” New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) stated that the city opening up housing for migrants on Randall’s Island “is not a sign of progress” on how the city is handling the influx of migrants into the city, but is a sign that the surge of migrants into New York City is “the greatest — I believe — humanitarian crisis the city has ever witnessed.”

CBS News National Correspondent Jericka Duncan said, “Since spring of last year, New York City officials say they’ve provided shelter and care for over 100,000 asylum seekers. On Randall’s Island is where you’ll find the latest center to open, with rows of cots, a place to shower, and a dining area. Mayor Eric Adams says it’s expected to house up to 3,000 people.”

Duncan then played a clip where she asked Adams, “Is this a sign of progress, or does this speak to the humanitarian crisis your city is facing?”

Adams responded, “This is not a sign of progress. This is a sign of a crisis, the greatest — I believe — humanitarian crisis the city has ever witnessed.”

The average income in our country is $5,000 less than the basic cost of living. I'm going to change that. Over the course of the next few weeks, I'll be releasing an economic plan that focuses on ending the corrupt merger of state and corporate power to make sure Americans can once again afford their most essential expenses: housing, food, childcare, commuting to work, and the healthcare we need to survive.
