Archbishop of Canterbury: Accusing Israel of Hospital Attack is ‘Blood Libel’
Finally, a Western clergyman supports the right side.
One is so used to Western clergymen, from the antisemitic retired Vicar from Virginia Water, the infamous Stephen Sizer, all the way up to the addled Pope Francis, who means well, in his soppy interfaith way, that prevents him from grasping the nature of Islam, coming out with anti-Israel statements that it was both surprising and welcome to find that the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, commenting on the explosion at the parking lot of the hospital in Gaza, and insisting that Israel had nothing to do with it. What’s more, he said that those who continue to blame Israel, long after the irrefutable evidence of its blamelessness has been made public, are guilty of a “blood libel” against the Jewish people. More on Archbishop Welby’s remarks can be found here: “Archbishop of Canterbury: False accusations of Israel involvement in Gaza hospital blast are ‘blood libel,’” by Lazar Berman, Times of Israel, October 22, 2023:
Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby says in Jerusalem that there is no reason to assume Israel was behind the October 17 blast at an Anglican Hospital in Gaza City, and that spreading false accusations about Israeli complicity is a “blood libel.”
“Don’t assume it’s Israel,” Welby says to The Times of Israel. “You have no proof.”
“Do not start propagating another blood libel,” he says to those blaming Israel….
However, the local Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem issued a statement blaming “the loss of hundreds of innocent civilians” on Israeli airstrikes.
Of course they felt they had to blame Israel. Those Arab Anglicans in Jerusalem, after all, have to live among vindictive and potentially violent Muslims. As dhimmis, they are long inured to their permanently precarious situation: they mustn’t contradict the Muslims but, instead, must parrot whatever those Muslims say to the world. They wouldn’t dare to speak the truth about who was to blame for the explosion at the hospital parking lot.
Welby would not back that figure, saying only “I have no idea how many civilians there were, I’ve heard so many different numbers.”
Hamas was quick off the mark, within an hour of the explosion managing to put out a figure of “about 500 killed” — it would, of course, have been impossible to count that number in such a short time. It turns out, according to European intelligence experts, that the real number of Gazans killed in the strike was between 10 and 50. Welby was right to refuse to accept the Hamas figure, saying that he had “heard so many different numbers.” He might, of course, have done even better, by saying that “I have learned that European forensics experts believe the true number of those killed was between 10 and 50. I’m not sure what to believe about those figures. But I do know beyond any doubt that Israel was not responsible for the explosion. The evidence — both audio and visual — is overwhelming that the explosion was not caused by an Israeli airstrike but by an errant rocket launched from within Gaza. And a recording of Hamas operatives discussing the explosion makes clear that the rocket was launched by Palestinian Islamic Jihad.”
Welby made the comments after meeting with the family of slain 22-year-old IDF soldier of British descent, Sgt. First Class Yosef Malachi Guedalia, and with members of the Haran family from Kibbutz Be’eri, eight of whom are missing or taken captive, and two of whom were killed on October 7.
Welby has never in the past been so clearly on Israel’s side. But two things led to his current more sympathetic view of Israel. First, he traveled to Israel in a sign of solidarity with the victims of Hamas, and was no doubt moved by his meetings with the families of a murdered Israeli soldier, and with members of the Haran family, two of whom had been murdered, and six others kidnapped, by Hamas. Second, he was confronted with the Big Lie propagated by Hamas, and repeated by others fueled by anti-Israel animus, that claimed Israel was responsible “for killing 500 people at the Al-Ahli Hospital.” Welby understood this was a “blood libel” directed not just at the Jewish state, but at Jews everywhere. He knew that first, the explosion took place not at the hospital, which was barely damaged, but at the parking lot; second, that it was not an Israeli airstrike, but a PIJ misfired rocket that caused the explosion; third, that the number of dead were considerably less than the figure of 500 Hamas disseminated at once, but European experts have concluded that real figure was much lower — between 10 and 50 people killed.
Alas, after having made his welcome remarks about the “blood libel” of falsely accusing Israel of the parking lot bombing, Justin Welby reverted the very next day to type, demanding that there be an “immediate ceasefire” and an end to “bombing of civilians.”
Here is what he said on Sunday: “Israel-Palestine war: Archbishop of Canterbury calls for Gaza ceasefire in break from UK policy,” by Peter Oborne, Middle East Eye, October 22, 2023:
In a break from official British policy, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby on Sunday issued an urgent call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and an end to Israel’s bombing of civilians.
The archbishop joined forces with other Christian leaders in Jerusalem to demand an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire so that food, water, and vital medical supplies can safely be delivered to the relief agencies ministering to the hundreds of thousands of displaced civilians in Gaza.”
The statement from the leader of England’s state church directly contradicts the policy of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who last week ordered Britain to abstain on a United Nations ceasefire resolution.
A “ceasefire” at this point would have one disastrous effect: it would rescue Hamas from the impending Israeli onslaught, allowing the terror group to remain standing, while preventing the IDF from destroying the terror group as a military force. Does Welby not understand this? Or does he not think that Israel has a right to defend itself by demolishing the terror group whose members beheaded Jewish babies, burned children alive, gang-raped and murdered young girls, tortured, mutilated, and decapitated soldiers, and killed grandmothers in their wheelchairs? Does Welby really want to rescue Hamas? That is what a “ceasefire” at this point would do.
After his remarks about the “blood libel” and his acceptance of Israel’s version of what happened at the parking lot, I had hopes that Archbishop Justin Welby would continue to demonstrate his new understanding of the malignant media coverage of Israel, and his newfound sympathy for the Jewish state, as it yet again finds itself having to fight for its very survival. In Jerusalem, he met with families of the victims of Hamas murderers, and could compare the lies of Hamas and the truth-telling of Israel about the explosion at the parking lot. But now that he is back to calling for a “ceasefire” and warning Israel about “civilian casualties,” I see that I was wrong.

Hamas Founder’s Son Slams Terror Group’s ‘Sick’ Cause, Calls for Ousting — Civilian Deaths on Hamas’ Hands
Hamas’ cause is “sick” and it must be removed from power, according to the eldest son of Hamas’ founder, who asserted that war is now the sole pathway to peace while laying blame for civilian casualties solely on Hamas, whom he accused of “hijacking” Palestinian society.
He also warned its supporters — whom he accused of caring “least” for Palestinians “oppressed” by Hamas — of impending regret for siding with Hamas “criminals” who are “killing Palestinian people” and whose sole mission is to “annihilate Israel.”
On Thursday, Mosab Hassan Yousef, who has a history of public speaking about his experiences and transformation from a Hamas insider to an Israel supporter, openly criticized Hamas and its supporters in a passionate segment on Piers Morgan’s talk show.
Yousef, originally aligned with his father Sheikh Hassan Yousef’s Hamas movement, eventually grew disenchanted with the organization’s violent tactics and chose to covertly aid Israeli intelligence.
He later chronicled his journey and transformation in his autobiography, Son of Hamas.
According to Yousef, Hamas has always aimed to annihilate Israel, demonstrating no acceptance of the state’s right to exist.
“Since its establishment, Hamas has one goal in mind, which is annihilating the State of Israel,” he said, noting that it is “not a secret” that the terror group seeks to destroy the Jewish State.
“They cannot accept Israel or accept Israel’s right to exist,” he added.
Asked at what point he decided to escape the Hamas environment, Yousef highlighted events going all the way back to his childhood.
“Since I was a child, I [had] asked my father many questions about Hamas delusions, about their brutality, about their abuse of power, and always he justified their position,” he said. “Then I was imprisoned with Hamas. I spent about 27 months in Israeli prisons where Hamas was torturing their own members — our own people — within Israeli prisons … They killed, actually, and tortured hundreds of prisoners.”
“This is when I started asking myself the question: what if Hamas becomes the ruler at some point, what will they do to our people?” he asked, noting that they did many years later and he “wasn’t surprised by their brutality” after they had gained rule over Gaza.
Though not surprised by the savagery of the group, Yousef expressed shock at the “scale” of Hamas’ October 7 massacre in southern Israel, which saw some 2,500 terrorists burst into Israel by land, sea, and air and gun down participants at an outdoor music festival while others went door-to-door hunting, torturing, shooting, and kidnapping Jewish men, women, and children in local towns.
The unprecedented attack, the worst in Israel’s history, saw Hamas terrorists slaughter over 1,400 people inside the Jewish state and wound 5,300 more. They also took at least 224 hostages of all ages.
The vast majority of the victims are civilians and include dozens of American citizens.
He noted that Hamas’s “wiping out entire communities” of Israelis, a people who are saddled with trauma from the Holocaust, “opened the gates of hell on the Palestinian people,” and demonstrated the terror group’s lack of concern for Palestinian children and civilians.
“This is how irresponsible this group [of] people [is] — that they are willing to actually sacrifice many Palestinian children, the entire Palestinian people, and use them as a fuel to just achieve their ideological agendas, their religious agendas,” he said.
“Hamas’ cause is a sick one — it’s coming from the pit of hell — and they need to be removed from power,” he added.
He then insisted that it is crucial to stop the terror group now to prevent more deadly future conflicts.
“This is my message as an ex-Hamas member, as a son of one of Hamas’ founders: enough of this. If we don’t stop them now, the next war is going to be deadlier, and only God knows what will happen next if Hamas is not finished as soon as possible,” he declared.
Addressing Palestinian support for Hamas, Yousef anticipated a celebration in Gaza upon Hamas’s removal, with gratitude extended to Israel.
“Once Hamas is removed from power, we’re going to witness people celebrating in Gaza. I guarantee you that,” he said. “The people of Gaza are oppressed [by Hamas] for so long and they had to endure siege; they had to endure violence [and] many wars for the sake of Hamas’ lust for power and for Hamas’ political ambition,” he said.
“When this comes to an end, I promise you that the Palestinian people, first of all, will thank Israel for what they did,” he added.
In addition, he expressed his belief that after the current conflict ends, the notion of “annihilating the Jews and the state of Israel” will be “dropped forever.”
“Hamas is the last experiment of adapting violence, trying to annihilate and destroy the State of Israel,” he explained, emphasizing that Israel is “going nowhere.”
Asked about how to achieve peace under the current circumstances, Yousef explained, “this time, I’m afraid that war is the only way to peace.”
“Because if Hamas is not removed from power, then they will build more [of their] military, they will build longer range missiles, and the next attack — the next war — is going to be deadlier,” he said.
“The use of force is the last resort,” he added, “you can find this in every culture and, unfortunately, now Hamas left Israel and the free world as well, with no choice but to fight them and put an end for their violence.”
Addressing the many civilians who are dying, he noted that he is well aware but clarified that “their blood is on the hands of Hamas and Hamas only.”
He also criticized pro-Palestinian activists, particularly those from outside of the conflict zone, for misrepresenting the Palestinian struggle and supporting the “criminal” Hamas movement.
“Those who are using what [is] so called the Palestinian cause, they care the least for the Palestinian children and their future,” he said, adding that Palestinian society “has been hijacked by [Hamas] criminals and anybody who takes their side is participating in their crime.”
In addition, Yousef emphasized the stark differences between Israel and Hamas in their treatment of civilians during conflicts, praising Israel for its efforts to minimize civilian casualties.
“It’s a fact that Hamas uses civilians as human shields” while “it’s a fact that Israel called and warns civilians to evacuate buildings before they strike them,” he said, noting that “in the meantime, Hamas put roadblocks to stop civilians from evacuating to safe zones.”
“Israel is a democracy, Israel is accountable, Israel is not thirsty for Palestinian blood,” he added.
While Israel is “capable of wiping out Arab capitals in seconds,” Yousef pointed to how Israel “does not attempt to abuse its power,” yet “when the Arabs have just a little bit of power, a couple of missiles, they misuse [that] power by launching them at civilians [to] kill them in their living rooms.”
“We have a fundamental problem and we need to stop blaming Israel,” he stated. “We invited this upon our heads and the rest of the world, if they don’t know the reality on the ground, it’s better that they shut up,” he added.
He then accused supposed supporters of the Palestinians of being both ignorant of the situation and apathetic to the people’s true needs.
“Enough bloodshed and enough involvement from people who don’t care. They are just warriors on keyboards. They’re just storming world capitals saying ‘Free Palestine! Free Palestine!’ They don’t know what the hell Palestine is! I am Palestine! And [what] I say is enough of Hamas! It’s enough of the corrupt leaderships!” he exclaimed.
“We don’t want a Palestinian state, I don’t want a Palestinian State. Palestinian children need education, they need security, they need life. This is what they need, they don’t need another corrupt Arab regime,” he added.
Answering a question about potential radicalization due to Israeli military actions, Yousef expressed confidence in the eventual removal of Hamas from power and the pursuit of justice against its leaders, warning those currently supporting Hamas of future regret.
“Listen to this: we are going to remove Hamas from power — remember my words,” he said. “Hamas did not only bring the wrath of Israel over Gaza, Hamas brought the wrath of God.”
“We are going to remove them from power and we are going to prosecute their leaders and we are going to bring them to justice, and the world will witness their punishment, and everyone who takes their side today, in this state of confusion, thinking that this is a joke, I tell those people that you are going to regret taking the side of Hamas,” he added. “You are going to regret taking the side of those criminals who are killing the Palestinian people.”

New York Times: Hamas Hoards While Gazans ‘Scrounge’ for Fuel, Food, Water
The New York Times, hardly a pro-Israel outlet, has reported that the Palestinian Hamas terrorist group is hoarding essential supplies while ordinary civilians in Gaza “scrounge” for fuel, food, and water, confirming a charge Israel has made for weeks.
The Times reported Friday:
As supplies of virtually every basic human necessity dwindle in Gaza, one group in the besieged enclave remains well-stocked: Hamas.
Arab and Western officials say there is substance to Israeli claims of Hamas stockpiling supplies, including desperately needed food and fuel. Hamas, they say, has spent years building dozens of kilometers of tunnels under the strip where it has amassed stores of virtually everything needed for a drawn-out fight. It is a reality that Israel may soon find itself grappling with if it makes good on its threat to invade Gaza.
Hamas has hundreds of thousands of gallons of fuel for vehicles and rockets; caches of ammunition, explosives and materials to make more; and stockpiles of food, water and medicine, the officials said. A senior Lebanese official said Hamas, which is estimated to number between 35,000 and 40,000, had enough stocked away to keep fighting for three to four months without resupply.
Israel has allowed a limited amount of humanitarian aid to enter Gaza but has refused to allow fuel to enter, saying that Hamas has plenty to distribute to the Palestinian population, and that Hamas will seize any new fuel for its own military purposes.

They’re Infiltrating The US Border - Customs & Border Patrol Intelligence
How Does the Progressive Socialist Left Define Incitement and Insurrection?
Who are the “domestic terrorists” exactly?
If there is one thing I despise, it is hypocrisy. Boy, howdy, there is a bunch of that going around. The leftists in America, aided by their complicit media, should be charged with incitement to violence from the incidents we witnessed last week. How fast were these gullible, useful idiots (not my description, but rather that of Vladimir Lenin) quick to lay blame upon Israel for an alleged bombing of a hospital in Gaza? Oh yeah, Gaza’s Minister of Health provided the information that turned out to be disinformation and misinformation. But that did not stop major news media outlets, and even members of the US Congress, from taking to news, print. And social media announcing this unverified blather.
Of course, the Islamo-fascist world went nuts, as if it takes much for that to happen. Massive protests exploded all over the world, innocent people were attacked, and then came the truth. The incident was the result of a rocket misfire by Islamic Jihad, hard proof of such. Where were the massive media retractions? Did those terrorist-supporting members of Congress retract their uninformed statements? Did they offer an apology? The US Constitution affords the rights of free speech, expression, peaceful assembly, and press . . . an objective one, not an ideological and propaganda-driven press.
Will this same press and same leftists be held responsible and accountable for incitement and insurrection? I mean, really, people stormed Capitol Hill in support of an Islamic terrorist organization that just killed Americans . . . again.
Well, do not hold your breath because the left defines incitement and insurrection as countering their ideological agenda. When, all along, in pure hypocrisy, they are the ones enacting such.
Remember when Maxine Waters stood and told people to get in the faces of those serving in the Trump administration? What happened? Maybe you recall Sarah Huckabee Sanders being refused service at a restaurant? Remember how Ted Cruz and others were assailed at eating establishments? How about the “summer of love,” where Antifa, BLM, and associated groups burned federal buildings, destroyed property, and attacked law enforcement officers? Madonna talking about how she dreamt of blowing up the White House. Kathy Griffin with the bloody, severed head of Donald Trump, or the New York play that featured the stabbing death of a Donald Trump character, a la Julius Caesar? Nope, nothing, that is just good to go.
On the other hand, parents are “domestic terrorists” for showing up at school board meetings. A father is dragged out and arrested in Virginia for bringing attention to the sexual assault of his daughter by a biological male allowed entry into the girls’ bathroom. Something which the same individual did at another school. We later found out that the school superintendent knew and tried to cover up the incident. A group called Moms for Liberty is designated a “hate group” by the leftist Southern Poverty Leadership Council because they believe in parental rights and educational freedom. The Democrat Governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper, issued a state of emergency because Republicans in the State legislative houses passed school choice.
What we witnessed last week, the protests on our streets in the aftermath of the heinous October 7th Islamic terrorist attack in Israel is highly disconcerting but par for the course of the progressive socialist left. Hamas is not an Islamic terrorist organization; as a professor at the Bush School at Texas A&M University described it, it is a “charitable organization.” So, obviously, you should not attack a charitable organization. If you do, the leftists are justified in taking to the streets, even in America, worldwide, in solidarity with this gang of inhumane savages. This description cannot be debated.
It is time for law-abiding governors and mayors in America to clarify their position regarding support for terrorism in their jurisdictions. I genuinely do not believe most university presidents have the requisite intestinal fortitude to restrict such aberrant behaviors and protests. The organization known as Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) should be banned from campuses. BLM should be designated as a terrorist-supporting organization. I wonder if the NBA feels stupid for putting their name and logo on their courts? These insurrections popping up in support of an Islamic terrorist organization that brutally killed Israeli civilians and Americans should be banned. There needs to be consequences for American elected officials who side with an Islamic terrorist who killed Americans.
We have seen the left take over and destroy State Capitol buildings in Wisconsin and Tennessee without any consequences. We just witnessed a radical gathering on Capitol Hill demanding the unconscionable: leave Hamas alone and allow them to continue to exist to kill Jews and Americans.
How does the left in America define incitement and insurrection? It is their mantra. They advance their cause through fear, intimidation, coercion, threats, and violence. Perhaps that is why they easily sympathize with Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Hezbollah. They all share a virulent sense of anti-Semitism and anti-Americanism. Do not believe me? Go back and listen to Barack Obama’s speech at the University of Cairo in early 2009, where he invited Muslim Brotherhood members to the front rows. Interestingly, he has been very quiet about the barbaric attacks of Hamas. Quite telling.
We will not live free in America by allowing the hypocritical leftist definition of incitement and insurrection. I suppose that when the Islamic terrorist sleeper cells move into action in America, leftists will take to the streets and blame America. After all, it will have been us, just as with the sovereign nation-state of Israel, who has incited the beloved jihadist freedom fighters to murder us brutally. That is the level of delusion and deranged thinking of the progressive socialist left who aid and abet, along with providing material support and comfort to terrorists.
Steadfast and Loyal.
If there is one thing I despise, it is hypocrisy. Boy, howdy, there is a bunch of that going around.
