BUT WHAT?!? - Scoop: Biden Demands Gun Control for Israelis - BUT NOT HAMAS AND THE MUSLIM DICTATORS HE HAS FUNDED

The Biden administration refused to sell American weapons to Israel unless it provided guarantees the guns would not be given to civilians living in the West Bank, the Washington Free Beacon is exclusively reporting.

The Jewish state urgently requested the United States sell it thousands of M-16 rifles following the Hamas terror group's Oct. 7 slaughter of more than 1,400 unarmed Israeli citizens. But the Biden administration would not approve the sale until Israel guaranteed the critical weapons would not reach civilian outposts in the West Bank, which the Biden administration and its Democratic allies view as occupied territory.

The stipulation was characterized by officials as unusual and indicates the Biden administration is succumbing to pressure from its far-left flank, which is pressing Israel to enact a ceasefire and accusing the Jewish state of carrying out a genocide as it defends itself from Hamas terrorists operating in the Gaza Strip.

The guns are critical to Israel’s defense as it faces down the most significant threat in decades. With the military engaged in an assault on the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, Jewish civilians in dangerous areas like the West Bank are being trained and equipped to defend themselves against potential attacks.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D., Md.) is said to be one of the lawmakers who pressured the Biden administration to restrict Israel’s access to the weapons.

The Biden administration has become increasingly open about its desire for Israel to halt its war effort so that humanitarian aid can be delivered into the Gaza Strip, a call the Jewish state has rejected, citing Hamas’s reliance on this aid for its terrorist activities. President Joe Biden, after initially offering full throated support for Israel’s defensive operations, accused Israelis living in disputed West Bank areas of conducting unwarranted attacks on Palestinians in remarks late last month, claiming they are "pouring gasoline on the fire."

Defund the Soros Hamas Insurrection

Congress can close the ‘terror loophole’ behind pro-Hamas riots in New York.

[Make sure to read Daniel Greenfield’s contributions in Jamie Glazov’s new book: Barack Obama’s True Legacy: How He Transformed America.]

On October 18, pro-terrorist insurrectionists stormed the United States Capitol after a hate rally by two anti-Israel groups: IfNotNow and Jewish Voice for Peace. Both hate groups had issued statements that either justified or rationalized the Hamas atrocities against Israelis.

IfNotNow’s statement after the Hamas rapes, killings and kidnappings argued that, “we cannot and will not say today’s actions by Palestinian militants are unprovoked. Every day under Israel’s apartheid system is a provocation.” Jewish Voice for Peace described the Hamas attacks as an incident in which “Palestinian fighters from Gaza launched an unprecedented assault” in response to Israeli “oppression” which is the real “source of all this violence”.

The pro-Hamas insurrectionists rally for a ‘ceasefire’ that would allow Hamas to attack again had come knowing that their actions were illegal and over 400 of them had intended to be arrested. Over 300 eventually were arrested for their insurrection in the Capitol’s Canon rotunda. Three of the extremists were taken into custody for assaulting police officers.

IfNotNow has a long history of getting its activists arrested to support terrorists and JVP has previously promoted events featuring terrorists and those arrested included key organization figures like Alissa Wise: a top JVP official who has supported terrorists and engaged in sustained harassment of Jewish people over their support for the Jewish State.

The Capitol Insurrection was one of a number of illegal rallies held by these hate groups including an attempt to take over New York’s Grand Central Station on the Sabbath which also led to multiple arrests. Participants included May Ye: a Chinese-American activist from Maine who claimed that she “became a rabbi to be a Jewish voice for Palestinian liberation”.

Both groups, like much of the pro-terror network, had benefited heavily from Soros funding.

The If Not Now Education Fund, the 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit arm of the 501(c)(4) extremist organization, had received two sets of two year grants from the Soros Open Society Foundations totaling $400,000 beginning in 2019 and running until 2023. JVP had also taken in $650,000 from OSF with multi-year grants beginning in 2017 and running through 2023. Like IfNotNow, JVP is a 501(c)(3) and has a 501(c)(4) arm. Both benefited from recent Soros grants.

The illegal pro-terrorist activities of both JVP and IfNotNow, as well as many other groups in the anti-Israel network, reflects the refusal of the IRS to enforce the tax code against the Left.

The IRS had previously found that the tax code bans funding of anti-war groups or any organization whose “primary activity is the sponsoring of…protest demonstrations  in which demonstrators are urged to commit violations of local ordinances and breaches of public order.”

Such organizations don’t “qualify for exemption under section 501(c)(3) or (4) of the Code.”

IfNotNow and other anti-Israel protest groups are one of many leftist organizations whose very existence is a violation of IRS regulations. But above and beyond the tax code, Soros is knowingly funding riots and illegal activities by hate groups with a long history of such activities.

On Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, anti-Israel protesters were arrested for blocking traffic at an event cosponsored by Adalah, a BDS group which helped produce the BLM platform calling for a boycott of Israel, and has received $1.5 million from Soros, as well as by JVP and IfNotNow.

In Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Hamas supporters gathered for a “Flood Brooklyn for Palestine” hate rally whose name echoed “Al Aqsa Flood”: the Hamas name for its butchery in Israel. 19 were arrested after NYPD officers were assaulted and hit with fireworks and bottles by the hate filled mob. Participating groups included Linda Sarsour’s Arab American Association of New York, which received $60,000 from the Soros network, as well as Samidoun: a terrorist front group banned by Israel and Germany, whose fiscal sponsor the Alliance for Global Justice received $250,000 from Soros in 2020. (This money may have been intended for AFGJ’s BLM groups.)

The Ford Foundation and other major leftist donors have stated that they will no longer fund Samidoun, after the terror front group handed out candy to celebrate Hamas atrocities, but the Soros network has offered no such promise of ending its funding of the extremist sponsor.

At another “Flood Brooklyn for Palestine” rally targeting the vicinity of the Crown Heights community, home to the largest group of Jewish Chabad Chassidim in the world, participants celebrated the Hamas attack and called for the destruction of Israel. Members of the hateful mob vandalized police cars and local businesses and then proceeded to hijack the Brooklyn Bridge. Terrorist supporters marching on Lower Manhattan carried a large black and white banner reading, “Honor the Martyrs” referring to the dead Islamic terrorists.

That rally was called by Within Our Lifetime, along with other Islamic groups, whose chair, Nerdeen Kiswani was defended and “proudly supported” for her hateful activities by Palestine Legal which received $25,000 from the Soros network.

The support for pro-Hamas groups is not surprising. George Soros has a history of defending Hamas. “America and Israel must open the door to Hamas,” he urged in a 2007 editorial after the group first came to power, while claiming that Hamas had a “more moderate political wing”.

“Neither Hamas nor Hezbollah can be treated merely as targets in the war on terror because both have deep roots in their societies,” he argued in an earlier editorial. And in another editorial complained that pro-Israel activists were “abetting” Israel’s “insistence on treating Hamas only as a terrorist organization.”

While Soros was editorializing for Hamas, Rob Malley, the son of an adviser to the PLO’s Yasser Arafat, was conducting backchannel talks with Hamas as a director at Soros’s International Crisis Group. The revelation of the Hamas link forced the Obama campaign to temporarily drop Malley, who later returned as Obama and Biden’s Iran deal negotiator. (Malley is currently under investigation by the FBI for mishandling classified information.)

Malley, who served as the CEO of the Soros group, before joining the Biden administration’s Iran effort, had argued that it’s a mistake to think of Hamas only “in terms of their terrorist violence dimension” and claimed that “there’s so much misinformation about them”.

The real mistake may be thinking that it’s a coincidence that George Soros has funded hate groups rallying for Hamas and against Israel, after defending Hamas in the past.

The Hamas insurrection in the streets of our major cities has been fueled by money from major leftist donors, including Soros. The funding of organizations engaged in illegal activities is a violation of both the tax code and the law. The failure to hold the funders of radical domestic terrorism, whether by BLM or Hamas supporters, accountable has led to violence in the streets.

The Soros insurrection must be defunded and the entire network of organizations, including the billionaire Nazi collaborator behind it, must be held responsible for its illegal activities. If the IRS will not do its job and enforce the tax code against nonprofits engaged in illegal activities, Congress must move to close the loopholes and end the nonprofit status of groups engaged in violence, crimes and support for terrorist organizations. Taxpayers should not be funding terrorism and tax-exempt organizations cannot engage in illegal activities and back terrorists.

George Soros has spent much of his life organizing the destruction of the nation by funding a vast network of extremist groups. And he is not alone. Billionaire donors and foundations have brought the country and the world to a series of crises by taking fringe organizations and causes, and injecting enough money into them that they appeared to be mainstream.

Congress can deal a serious blow to the empire of extremists by reforming the tax code and closing the ‘terror loophole’ that enabled the ugly displays of hatred in New York City. And across America. If BLM wasn’t enough of a wake up call, the Islamic terrorist rallies within miles of Ground Zero ought to be. It’s time for Congress to defund the Soros Hamas insurrection.

Marlow: Jake Sullivan Claimed Biden Administration ‘De-escalated Crises in Gaza’ Days Before Mass Terror

Joe Biden has famously “been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades,” and, as I write in my New York Times bestselling book, Breaking Biden, he has no one but himself to blame.

That said, Biden has not surrounded himself by the most capable minds our country has to offer. On the contrary, his top advisers are typical Washington establishment functionaries who are living more for their next seven-figure pay day from the security state than for a more secure America.

I recently profiled “Secretary of Boeing” Tony Blinken, the ultimate consultant class oligarch who has an atrocious diplomatic record but has proven incredibly competent when it comes to capitalizing on the defense industry opportunities afforded to past and future bureaucrats. He is, after all, the Patron Saint of the Military Industrial Complex.

I’ve also noted that others in key administration posts like Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines have conflicts of interest within their policy portfolios.

The list goes on.

Another person in Joe Biden’s inner circle who has not served the president well but has amassed vast levels of power and wealth is National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan. Biden called Sullivan a “once-in-a-generation intellect.” If so, the fruits of Sullivan’s alleged erudition are not apparent to even informed observers. Far from it. As I recently wrote here at Breitbart News, the Biden administration doesn’t appear to care about national security at all. I cite the open southern border, the reengagement with terrorist-funders in Iran, the enabling of Communist China, the botched Afghanistan withdrawal (for which Sullivan was specifically blamed), and the Biden administration’s undeniable role in Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine, among many examples.

Sullivan even bragged about the U.S.’s partnership with other democracies, but snubbed Israel’s elected government. He also pledged to open an consulate in “East Jerusalem” for Palestinians.

Whether Sullivan has a world class mind or not, Joe Biden would be better off choosing his national security strategy at random than listening to anything Jake Sullivan has the say. The whole world is unquestionably less stable since this duo teamed up.

Sullivan should be fired yesterday.

But even if he was, Sullivan has put himself in prime position to bag corporate cash after he exits the White House. In fact, he’s done it before.

Deep State Profiteer

Let me provide some essential background information on the Biden administration’s international man of mystery. Jake Sullivan worked as an adviser to Hillary Clinton’s failed 2008 campaign before going on to work under her at the State Department during the Obama administration. He would later find himself under investigation for removing classified markings from documents on Clinton’s email server.

When he was in his mid-30s, he joined Biden World, becoming then-Vice President Biden’s national security adviser during Obama’s second term. Sullivan’s rise was almost implausibly meteoric. He went on to become a key player in crafting the disastrous Iran nuclear agreement (JCPOA) and has remained a mainstay of discussions surrounding the deal ever since.

He advised Hillary Clinton on her Libya policy in the run up to the Benghazi attack when Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other American were slain. He subsequently comforted the then-Secretary of State amidst her media damage control efforts.

After Clinton’s failed 2016 presidential campaign, Sullivan became a leading proponent of the Russian collusion hoax and, reportedly, a key conduit for the disinformation operation exposed in Special Counsel John Durham’s report on the origins of the Russiagate investigation.

All of this disrepute to this point, and he was barely even 40.

(AP Photo/Ng Han Guan)After the Obama administration, Sullivan left government employment for a gig in the private sector — which is practically a requirement for modern D.C. “experts.” He joined Macro Advisory Partners, a company that “provides clients with the strategic insights to navigate the intersection of global markets, geopolitics and policy,” according to its website. Among clients seeking “strategic insights” are mining companies in the third world, sovereign wealth funds, and financial giants. Macro Advisory’s patrons include Apple, GlaxoSmith-Kline (now GSK), Mastercard, PWC, and Deutsche Telekom, some of the most powerful corporate interests on earth.

Sullivan personally advised for heavy-hitting multinationals like Lego and Uber, as well as a bevy of financial giants such as Bank of America and Standard Chartered, raking in $138,000 in “advisory fees” in 2020.

He also landed a $45k/year adviser gig at Microsoft, a major defense contractor.

Sullivan joined the board of trustees for the International Crisis Group (ICG), a foreign policy think tank that is co-chaired by Frank Giustra, the Clinton donor behind the infamous Uranium One deal. During Sullivan’s tenure at ICG, its president was Robert Malley, the now-embattled Mideast envoy whose inner circle appears to have been infiltrated by an Iranian influence operation.

Luckily for Sullivan, success in the “expert” industry does not depend on results or integrity.

In 2020, Sullivan was paid $138,000 in consulting fees from Macro, $152,000 from various academic positions, and a $72,412 salary from the Biden campaign.

Though all of these deals paid moderately, Sullivan and his wife managed to accumulate assets worth between $7.5 million and $27.5 million by 2021. (His wife, attorney Margaret Goodlander, was a law clerk to Attorney General Merrick Garland when he was a judge.)

The consulting business was very good to Sullivan — as it has been for so many of the people responsible for Joe Biden’s foreign policy.

Sullivan’s Big Lie: ‘We Have De-escalated Crises in Gaza

After the 2020 campaign, Sullivan returned to the White House from his private sector profiteering to become President Biden’s National Security Adviser. The media has hailed him as a guru. The globalist publication The Economist literally declared: “Jake Sullivan to the rescue.”

Just last month, Sullivan wrote a piece in Foreign Affairs taking a victory lap for Biden’s foreign policy, even claiming credit for “deescalating” the Israel-Gaza conflict. The timing of the piece was indisputably horrendous. Just days after the article went to print, the largest organized mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust took place as Hamas terrorists swarmed Israel. The media snapped into action — to bail out one of the Americans who bears actual responsibility for the atrocities: Jake Sullivan.

The online version of Sullivan’s Foreign Affairs article was scrubbed of now mortifying references to Biden’s triumph in the Middle East. As noted on Xitter by Tablet Magazine journalist Jeremy Stern, the un-scrubbed version of Sullivan’s article included this sentence: “The Israeli-Palestinian situation is tense, particularly in the West Bank, but in the face of serious frictions, we have de-escalated crises in Gaza and restored direct diplomacy between the parties after years of its absence.”

“We have de-escalated crises in Gaza.”

This is the modern-day equivalent to Neville Chamberlain’s 1938 declaration of “peace for our time.”

Also in the piece, Sullivan claimed that “U.S. troops were under regular attack in Iraq and Syria” when Biden was sworn in but “such attacks, at least for now, have largely stopped.” That statement aged nearly as poorly as his “de-escalation” claim. In late October, the Pentagon reported that 21 U.S. troops were injured in drone attacks in Iraq and Syria.

Sullivan also claimed that the U.S. had successfully discouraged Iranian aggression and quieted the region more so than at any time in decades. Since the article, Iran has reinforced that “death to America” is not just a slogan, it’s a matter of policy.

All of the aforementioned sections were scrapped from the online article.

What remains of the piece is nearly as awful:

  • Sullivan brags about the U.S. readiness to confront Putin’s aggression, despite the ample evidence Biden was caught flat-footed (if I’m being charitable) by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
  • He claims that “we seek to ‘derisk’ and diversify, not decouple” from China.
  • He praises the recent China-backed deal between Saudi Arabia and Iran, crediting it with “reducing tensions” between the two countries.
  • He claims Biden’s approach will “free up” U.S. resources from long term conflicts, even though evidence suggests that our resources are spread thinner than they have been for decades.

Mark my words: this article will stand the test of time no better than a banana. Yet, Foreign Affairs published it all in its print edition, then sneakily edited it so that Sullivan could try to save face.

This is all a disgrace.

Unburdened by his own failures, Sullivan wasted no time placing the onus of “de-escalation” on Israel, warning that the conflict could “spiral” into a larger war between Israel and its allies and Iran. This is effectually a pro-Hamas posture, which is transitively pro-terrorism.

One of the core reasons I spent over a year researching and writing Breaking Biden was to elucidate the nature of the Washington that Joe Biden built, where for professional “experts” like Jake Sullivan, failure is no obstacle. So long as he does not defy the security state or the party-line status quo, so long as he abides by the prevailing narratives and kisses the right butts, not only is Sullivan’s job secure, but there will assuredly be a seven or eight figure payday waiting for him as soon as he takes a sojourn to the private sector.

Yes, even if the national security adviser’s disastrous “advice” ultimately costs Joe Biden the White House, Jake Sullivan will just return to the private sector to bag mountains of cash, only to return to the next Democratic administration as a much wealthier, if not wiser, man.

Biden: Pro-Israel by Day, Pro-Hamas by Night

To the knowledge of principled, modestly engaged, CNN-watching citizens, President Joe Biden stands strongly with Israel as it faces unprecedented threats to its existence.  So, it appears, cheers are in order for Joe, our strong President.

But not so fast.  Perhaps more than any leader on the planet except Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Biden’s actions were a causative factor in bringing on the recent devastating invasion of American ally Israel.  And more than anyone else, Biden presently is both weakening Israel strategically, and strengthening Hamas militarily, as Israel desperately  seeks to assure its safety.

This criticism of Biden, at first blush, may seem overstated.  But sustained attention reveals its modesty.  In fact, the history of Biden’s actions show that they are strongly pro-Iran, and therefore pro-Hamas, terrorists sponsored and directed by Iran.

Israel is being bedeviled not only by Hamas in Gaza but also by Hezb’allah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen, bombarded daily by each.  It is not controversial that each is financed and directed by Iran.  But these bombardments do not comprise all of Iran’s handiwork.  It also involves sophisticated, effective drones sent to Russia to stymie Ukraine, which certainly ties down America financially and Ukraine militarily.  Iran is as well a military presence in Syria, along with Russia, which itself is a looming threat to Israel, albeit peripheral to the present conflict.

How can this unprepossessing, commercially backward terrorist regime afford five current military operations, the most prominent three ostentatiously directed at destroying Israel?  Joe Biden has been courting Iran since his accession to office, originally to restart the counterintuitive Iran nuclear deal, which would allow the mullahs a nuclear weapon in just a few years, along with relief from various arms embargos and access to $6 billion in frozen assets. Did this initiative of the Biden Administration have the ultimate effect of releasing Iran from debtor’s prison, while making it wealthy enough to lavishly fund multiple terrorist armies?

Even though the nuclear deal under discussion would be a fool’s errand which only would embolden Iran, Biden’s slavish desire for such a deal says enough about his professed resolve to avoid allowing a malign actor nuclear weapons. With Biden’s restriction of American fuel production causing dramatic price increases, an oil-rich Iran now does not need the modest billions that Biden’s weak team is likely offering to seal any nuclear deal. To be sure, such an agreement may be effectively anodyne, given Biden’s implicit present permission for ongoing Iranian nuclear development.

Ironically, it is Biden’s absurd climate change policies which have given Iran the financial strength to eschew a deal.  By voluntary handicapping American oil and gas drilling, Biden essentially has doubled the price of oil from $45 to near $90, making Iran wealthy to the tune of about $120 billion extra income annually.

Moreover, just as Iran’s military advisors were reportedly meeting with Hamas and Hezb’allah in August 2023, to plan the attack of Israel, Biden was quietly lifting oil sanctions on Iran, allowing it to ramp up production from 2.4 million barrels per day to 3.5 million per day, as we speak, a $30 billion windfall just for this portion of the Biden giveaway.

This was at the same time that Biden’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan was assuring the world that (because of Biden’s policies) the Middle East region was “quieter than it has been in two decades” a claim he repeated as late as September 29, 2023, a week before the October 7, 2023 Hamas massacre.  This is the same Jake Sullivan who, after months of Putin’s massing on the Ukraine border, expressed surprise that Russia would actually invade.  Who knew?

Now that our naivete and Iran’s perfidy have been exposed, one would reasonably think that the U.S. will “snap back” sanctions on Iran, as both Obama and Biden have so sternly threatened in the past.  But one would likely be wrong.

The true test of whether America  stands with Israel is whether it reinstitutes effective sanctions, stronger and more debilitating than previously, not only on Iranian oil and gas, but on all commercial trade, while engaging our allies to join the effort.

Because doing so might otherwise increase pump prices within the near future, the sanctions should be coupled with generous U.S. sales of oil leases, including the grant of offshore drilling permits, which would counteract the loss of Iranian supply, and then some.

But that won’t happen, since that would upset both Biden’s climate cronies on K Street and his progressive political supporters.

By allowing Iran to increase its production, now widely marketable without sanctions, thereby increasing Iranian wealth, the President of the United States is encouraging the present world of terror.

But at least Biden stands behind Israel in the conflict, correct?  Well, not exactly, because a solid bloc of Biden’s support comes from the progressive, pro-Palestinian Left.

Accordingly, as we speak, Biden is urging Israel to pause its retaliation, perhaps a cease fire, and otherwise to go easy on the Palestinians. And the smart money says that by granting the “humanitarian aid” Biden has pledged to suffering Palestinians, most will go straight to Hamas, allowing it to continue its terror against Israel.  If the aid were restricted to only those Palestinians flooding into Egypt from Gaza, such policy would nicely afford humanitarian relief, while incentivizing Palestinians to flee the ugly conflict of Gaza.  But don’t bet on that happening.  Instead, by aiding Palestinians staying in Gaza City, Biden is making the war difficult for Israel, not only because Hamas will get most of the aid, but also because human shields will be encouraged to remain.

To summarize, Biden made Iran wealthier with his climate policies, in turn enabling horrifying terrorism.  This history implies that he will not risk upsetting this malign actor, even though it is now imperative that he take action. We know that will not happen, given Biden’s pro-Palestinian supporters, and his administration’s foolish initiatives to strike a nuclear deal with Hamas patron Iran.

Accordingly, it is clear that Biden will mouth support for Israel while providing aid to the country as well.  But it is just as clear that Biden will not really stand with Israel when push comes to shove.

This is Joe Biden’s policy toward what he claims to be our strong ally, Israel. Not only does this policy threaten Israel’s existence, but it also risks entangling America in a larger Middle East war.

When Joe Biden ran against Donald Trump in 2020, he promised the country a steady hand on the tiller of our ship of state. While he boasts by day of his firm guidance, by night he is intentionally driving the ship onto rocky shoals, from which our citizens and those of our ally Israel may never escape.

Obama: ‘All of Us Are Complicit to Some Degree’ in ‘Occupation,’ Hamas Terror

Barack Obama (Scott Olson / Getty)

Obama told his former staffers on the Pod Save America Saturday that “all of us are complicit to some degree” in the violence in Gaza, as he appeared to describe a moral equivalence between Hamas murdering Israelis and the Israeli “occupation” of Gaza.

Gaza has not been “occupied” by Israel since 2005, when Israel withdrew all of its soldiers and civilians in a “disengagement” that aimed to reduce violence in the region. Hamas responded by launching thousands of rockets at Israel and starting several wars.

Obama’s remarks, as published by the podcast, are as follows:

If there’s any chance of us being able to act constructively, to do something, it will require an admission of complexity. And maintaining, what on the surface may seem contradictory ideas — that what Hamas did was horrific, and there’s no justification for it; and what is also true is that the occupation [sic] and what’s happening to Palestinians is unbearable. [Applause] And what is also true is that there is a history of the Jewish people that may be dismissed, unless your grandparents, or your great-grandparents, or your uncle or your aunt tell you stories about the madness of antisemitism. And what is true is that there are people right now who are dying who have nothing to do with what Hamas did. And what is true, right — I mean, we can go on for a while. And the problem with the social media, and trying to — TikTok activism, and trying to debate this, on that, is you can’t speak the truth. You can pretend to speak the truth. You can speak one side of the truth, and in some cases you can try to maintain you moral innocence, but that won’t solve the problem. And so if you want to solve the problem, you have to take in the whole truth, and you then have to admit nobody’s hands are clean, that all of us are complicit to some degree. I look at this, and I think back, “What could I have done during my presidency to move this forward — as hard as I tried, and I’ve got the scars to prove it. But there’s a part of me that’s still saying, well, “Was there something else I could have done?” That’s the conversation we should be having. Not just looking backwards, but looking forward. And that can’t happen if we are confining ourselves to our outrage. I would rather see you out there talking to people, including people who you disagree with. If you genuinely want to change thin, then you’ve got to figure out how to speak to somebody on the other side, and listen to them, and understand what they are talking about, and not dismiss it. Because you can’t save that child without their help. Not in this situation.

Obama’s approach matches his posture toward the Middle East throughout his presidency. He creates a false moral equivalence between the deliberate murder of 1,400 people in Israel, with extreme brutality, with an “occupation” that does not exist in Gaza and that exists in the West Bank only because the Palestinian Authority refuses to agree to peace with Israel.

He adopts a post-modern approach that insists there is not one truth, but many truths, which has the effect of minimizing the evil of genocidal violence, as practiced by Hamas, into merely one perspective among many.

Obama did the same, notoriously, in 2015, when he reacted to the violence of the so-called “Islamic State,” which had published a video of a Jordanian pilot being burned alive inside a cage, by arguing that medieval Christians had been just as violent during the Crusades. It was that dismissive approach, critics argued, that allowed ISIS to grow on Obama’s watch into a malevolent and tyrannical terrorist regime, and a threat in the West as well.

While Obama encourages his left-wing audience to talk to those who disagree with them, it is noteworthy that they applaud his remarks about the “occupation” and not his condemnation of Hamas’s murders.

The former president claims to have wondered whether there was something more he could have done. During his presidency, he adopted a hostile posture toward Israel that caused Palestinians to dig in and refuse to negotiate; he reached a nuclear deal with Iran that gave the regime billions of dollars to spend on terrorist proxies; and he allowed the United Nations to declare the Jewish presence in Jerusalem illegal.

In postmodern fashion, he also claimed in 2013 that it was not “fair” that Palestinians did not have a state of their own — ignoring that they had attacked Israel rather than building their own state when the land was partitioned by the United Nations.

Last month, in the wake of the October 7 terror attacks, Obama said that Israel must “dismantle” Hamas — and he has spent the last several weeks backtracking, in the face of anti-Israel (and antisemitic) activism on the “progressive” left.

Republican Jewish Coalition to Obama: You Are ‘Complicit in the Death and Suffering … in Israel and in Gaza’

The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) issued a blistering response Saturday night to former President Barack Obama’s attempt to claim a moral equivalence between Hamas terror and Israeli “occupation,” saying Obama was “complicit” in terror and war.

As Breitbart News reported, Obama told the Pod Save America podcast — which is run by his own former staffers — that America was “complicit” in the suffering in Israel and Gaza:

If there’s any chance of us being able to act constructively, to do something, it will require an admission of complexity. And maintaining, what on the surface may seem contradictory ideas — that what Hamas did was horrific, and there’s no justification for it; and what is also true is that the occupation [sic] and what’s happening to Palestinians is unbearable. [Applause]

And so if you want to solve the problem, you have to take in the whole truth, and you then have to admit nobody’s hands are clean, that all of us are complicit to some degree.

In response, the RJC said:

At a time when morality, international law, and the welfare of our chief ally in the Middle East all demand that we stand with Israel, full stop, Barack Obama says it’s complicated. It’s not.

Hamas attacks civilians; Hamas takes hostages; Hamas uses Gazans as human shields; Hamas steals humanitarian supplies; Hamas builds terrorism tunnels instead of bomb shelters, or schools, or houses. Hamas is to blame for the current war. The US should be fully behind Israel as it seeks to end Hamas’s capability to harm Israelis and Gazans alike.

But instead, when Israel faces a barbaric attack from Hamas, Obama blames Israel.

It is Barack Obama who is complicit in the death and suffering over the last month in Israel and in Gaza. His policies and those of President Joe Biden put billions of dollars into Iranian coffers, money used to fund and train Hamas and other terrorist groups whose stated goals are the destruction of Israel and the annihilation of Jews.

Obama’s attempt to dilute his own culpability in this situation doesn’t change the facts.

Last weekend, every Republican candidate for the presidency spoke at the RJC annual leadership summit in Las Vegas, Nevada.

WATCH: IDF Identifies Hamas Rocket Launchers Near Children’s Playgrounds, Pools

Rocket launcher on Gaza playground (IDF)
IDF

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Sunday that it had discovered Hamas rocket launchers near sensitive sites, including playgrounds, as IDF soldiers penetrated deeper into Northern Gaza.

In a statement, the IDF said:

During fighting in the Gaza Strip, IDF soldiers are exposing how the Hamas terror organization systematically uses civilian facilities for its terror activity. IDF soldiers located rocket launchers near a children’s swimming pool, as well as launch pits and rocket launchers in an old children’s playground in the Gaza Strip. This is further proof of Hamas’ deliberate use of civilian infrastructure and civilians – including children – as human shields for its military operations.

The IDF released video footage and photos of the rocket launch sites:

Israel and independent observers have long maintained that Hamas uses Palestinian civilians, including children, as human shields. Hamas fires rockets at Israeli civilians from areas that would be difficult for Israel to fire upon — and that, if Israel did counter-attack, would trigger international condemnation.

The IDF has released such photos before, taken from the air. The ground invasion of Gaza is allowing the IDF a firsthand, up-close look at the rocket launch sites that have terrorized Israel for two decades.

IDF Reveals Evidence of Hamas Abuse of Palestinian Civilians, Hospitals in Gaza

Real Admiral Daniel Hagari of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) told reporters in a briefing Sunday that Israel trying to protect civilians in the war but that the Palestinian terror group Hamas was trying to stop civilians from evacuating, and operating from hospitals.

Hagari said that Israel had “prioritized evacuation efforts over other missions.” He said that the Israel Air Force dropped over 1.5 million flyers warning Palestinians to evacuate the northern Gaza Strip, which is where Hamas’s strongholds are located, and to move south, beyond the Wadi Gaza wetlands, for their own safety. He added that Israel had made 20,000 personal telephone calls to civilian residents of Gaza, telling them to evacuate the area.

Hagari showed videos of flyers being dropped, and played audio of warnings in Arabic that had been broadcast to residents.

“Hamas is weak without human shields,” Hagari said. That was why “Hamas is actively stopping civilians from moving to a safer area.

He showed aerial photos of a Hamas roadblock that, he said, had been set up to stop Palestinian civilians from leaving the Jabaliya refugee camp.

In addition, Hagari said, Hamas continued to use hospitals for military purposes. He noted that Israel had previously exposed Hamas’s abuse of the Al Shifa hospital. He then went on to describe Hamas activities at other hospitals.

Hagari played video of IDF soldiers exposing a Hamas tunnel opening next to the Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani Hospital, also known as the Qatari hospital, named after the country that funded it. He also said that Hamas terrorists had shot at the IDF from within the hospital, and played a video showing them doing so.

Next, Hagari showed images of another hospital, the Indonesia Hospital, showing the construction of Hamas tunnels underground, and aerial photos showing evidence of rocket launches 75m away.

He also revealed intercepted and recorded phone calls that showed Gaza residents appearing to state that there was no shortage of fuel in the area, and that Hamas was storing it underneath hospitals, while claiming that the hospitals were running out of fuel.

“Hamas moves fuel from the hospitals to terrorists … from Shifa Hospital to Jabaliya … because Jabaliya is a terror center.”

Hagari also played a clip from the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), in which a Hamas spokesman admitted to Russia Today TV on October 27 that it had built tunnels to protect Hamas terrorists from attack, and had not built shelters for civilians.

“We will not accept Hamas’s cynical use of hospitals to hide their terror infrastructure. Hamas’s exploitation of hospitals must come to an end.”

A reporter asked why Israel was continuing to fight, knowing that Hamas was putting Palestinian civilians were at risk. Hagari replied by noting that this was a war “we did not start and we did not seek,” but which Israel had been forced to wage after October 7.

‘We Will Drink Your Blood and Eat Your Skull’: A Legacy of Islamic Savagery

What’s the deal with Muslim calls for, not just violence, but eating the flesh or drinking the blood of their infidel enemies?

Consider the case of Ahed Tamimi, described by Wikipedia as

a Palestinian activist… in the occupied West Bank in Palestine. She is best known for appearances in images and videos in which she confronts Israeli soldiers. Tamimi's advocates consider her a freedom fighter for Palestine… In December 2017, she was detained by Israeli authorities for slapping a soldier. The incident was filmed and went viral, attracting international interest and debate. Tamimi was sentenced to eight months in prison after agreeing to a plea bargain and released on 29 July 2018... [I]n February 2018, the famous Israeli poet Yehonatan Geffen, the nephew of Moshe Dayan, posted a poem on his Instagram page that ended with the following lines: “You, Ahed Tamimi, The red-haired, Like David who slapped Goliath, Will be counted among the likes of Joan of Arc, Hannah Senesh and Anne Frank.”

Well, this “heroine” recently wrote the following on her Instagram:

We are waiting for you [Jewish settlers] in all the cities of the West Bank, from Hebron to Jenin. We will slaughter you and you will say that what Hitler did to you was a joke. We will drink your blood and eat your skull. Come on, we're waiting for you.

Much, as usual, can be said here, but of curious interest to me are the cannibalistic references, and the fact that they are common among Muslims -- and, as can now be seen, not just of the so-called “radical” variety.

The Islamic State, for instance, has repeatedly stated that “American blood is best, and we will taste it soon.” Nor was this just “picturesque” language. According to a 2017 report, “Islamic State terrorists are teaching their fighters to eat non-Muslims, it has emerged.” (I managed to save one picture, since likely expunged, of an Obama-sponsored Free Syrian Army “rebel” digging into the heart of a fallen Syrian soldier in 2013.)

Where do these anthropophaginian tendencies come from?

In fact, calls to devour “infidels,” especially as a terror tactic, are common throughout Islamic history. Some well-documented anecdotes come to mind, beginning with the source of inspiration for ISIS’s calls to drink American blood: During the earliest Muslim invasions of Christian Syria, one of Muhammad’s companions, ‘Ubadah bin al-Samat, told a Christian commander that “We have tasted blood and find none sweeter than the blood of Romans” (meaning Byzantines and/or Christians).

Another example concerns that jihadist par excellence, Khalid bin al-Walid (d.642). Dubbed the “Sword of Allah” by Muhammad for his prowess, he holds a revered position among jihadist groups. During the Ridda -- or “apostasy wars” on several Arab tribes that sought to break away from Islam following Muhammad’s death -- Khalid falsely accused Malik bin Nuwayra, a well-liked Arab chieftain, of apostasy. After slaughtering him, Khalid raped -- Muslim sources call it “married” -- Malik’s wife. Not content,

He [Khalid] ordered his [Malik’s] head and he combined it with two stones and cooked a pot over them. And Khalid ate from it that night to terrify the apostate Arab tribes and others. And it was said that Malik’s hair created such a blaze that the meat was so thoroughly cooked [from Muslim historian al-Tabari’s multi-volume chronicle, al-bidaya w’al nihaya (“the Beginning and the End”).

Another anecdote concerns the Islamic conquest of Spain. According to Muslim chronicler Ibn Abdul Hakam, after capturing a group of Christian winemakers, the Islamic invaders

made them prisoners. After that they took one of the vinedressers, slaughtered him, cut him in pieces, and boiled him, while the rest of his companions looked on. They had also boiled meat in other cauldrons. When the meat was cooked, they threw away the flesh of that man which they had boiled; no one knowing that it was thrown away: and they ate the meat which they had boiled, while the rest of the vinedressers were spectators. These did not doubt but that the Moslems ate the flesh of their companion; the rest being afterwards sent away informed the people of Andalus [Christian Spain] that the Moslems feed on human flesh, acquainting them with what had been done to the vinedresser.

Tarek ibn Ziyad -- another jihadist extraordinaire, revered for burning his boats on reaching Spain’s shores as proof of his commitment to jihad or “martyrdom” -- also had Christian captives slaughtered, cooked up, and apparently eaten in front of their fellow hostages. Then, according to Muslim historian Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Maqqari, the Muslim hero “allowed some of the captives to escape, that they might report to their countrymen what they had seen. And thus the stratagem produced the desired effect, since the report of the fugitives contributed in no small degree to increase the panic of the infidels” [The History of the Mohammedan Dynasty, p. 276].

Note that, according to the above-cited Muslim chroniclers, the jihadists engaged in these cannibalistic practices to terrorize and create panic among infidels and apostates, that is, as a form of psychological warfare. This is further pronounced when, as they often do, the chroniclers quote or paraphrase Koran verses that call for “striking terror” into the hearts of nonbelievers (e.g., 3:151, 8:12, 8:60) in juxtaposition to the savage accounts they relay.

(Years back, I watched and linked to a video of a modern-day Egyptian cleric also making it clear that Khalid’s actions were calculated to terrify the apostates. Although YouTube has, as usual, since taken down the video, here’s my original translation of the cleric’s remarks:

People wonder how our lord Khalid could have eaten from such meat? Oh yes -- he ate from it! Our lord Khalid had a very strong character, a great appetite, and everything! All to terrorize the desert Arabs [apostates]. The matter requires determination; these matters require strength -- terrorism.

Indeed, none other than Al Azhar -- the Muslim world’s most prestigious university, which hosted Obama’s 2009 “New Beginning” speech -- teaches these accounts of Muslims eating infidels.

The reason is simple: such a heritage doesn’t belong to ISIS any more than it does to Al Azhar. It belongs to Islam -- hence why a young Palestinian darling is telling Israelis that she will “drink your blood and eat your skull.”

Hamas Tried to Smuggle Dozens of Terrorists Out of Gaza in Ambulances

The Palestinian Hamas terror group tried to smuggle dozens of terrorists in ambulances meant to carry wounded civilians out of Gaza, before the U.S. and Egypt reviewed the list of passengers and stopped the ambulances from going through the border.

The Times of Israel reported:

Hamas tried to sneak its fighters out of the Gaza Strip in ambulances that evacuated dozens of wounded Palestinians to Egypt earlier this week, a senior Biden administration official said Friday.

Hamas had compiled a list of the seriously wounded that it wanted to evacuate from Gaza for treatment in Egypt, along with thousands of foreign nationals looking to flee the enclave.

The list was then vetted by Egypt and the United States, which found that a third of the names on it were of Hamas fighters, the administration official said, adding that the list was rejected and none of the 76 wounded Palestinians who were ultimately evacuated in ambulances out of Gaza were members of the terror group.

It is not clear where the Hamas terrorists would have gone, had they successfully crossed the border into Egypt.

Hamas and other terror groups have often used ambulances to smuggle combatants and weapons, which is a war crime.

As long ago as 2002, Hamas was caught smuggling bombs in ambulances as it attempted to kill Israeli civilians during the second intifada.

Israel’s Magen David Adom, the local equivalent of the Red Cross, slammed the Palestinian Red Crescent for allowing ambulances to be misused, in violation of the laws of war, after an ambulance carrying a woman and three children was also found to be carrying explosives:

Israeli soldiers stopped a Palestinian ambulance last week near the West Bank city of Ramallah and found a 10 kg (22 lb) bomb sewn into a coat which was crammed into the mattress of a stretcher.

In a statement, MDA said it “requests the International Red Cross to intervene immediately in order to ensure that its protege, the Palestinian Red Crescent, strictly observe and respect the protective emblems, for humanitarian purposes only.”

It also called on the Palestinian Red Crescent “to refrain from harmful use of ambulances and…emblems in terrorist activities” which harmed humanitarian services carried out by both sides.

In 2011, terrorists in Iraq used an ambulance packed with explosives to attack local security officials. “The use of ambulances or other medical transport equipment bearing medical insignia for military attacks is a serious violation of the laws of war that amounts to a war crime,” Human Rights Watch said at the time.

“In addition to endangering medical personnel by casting suspicion on their neutrality, it undermines their ability to deliver urgent medical assistance to civilians and combatants on all sides of a conflict.”

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Friday that it had launched an airstrike on an ambulance near Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City because the vehicle was being used to carry terrorists, not the wounded.

Barack Obama does his coded version of ‘from the river to the sea’

Barack Obama is not a learned man, but it’s a mistake to confuse that with stupidity. He is, in fact, an extremely clever man. Combine that cleverness with the fact that he truly dislikes Israel and has aligned himself with those countries and groups that wish to destroy the country, complete with the genocide of all of its inhabitants, and you end up with someone who covertly signals to Israel’s enemies his ideological allegiance with them, even while seemingly treading a morally meaningless line right down the middle.

Those of us who have paid close attention to Obama over the years know that he dislikes Jews and Israel. Here are just a few facts supporting that contention:

  1. Jeremiah Wright, in whose church Obama sat for 20 years’ worth of Sundays, made no secret of his support for Arab “Palestinians” and the Nation of Islam. Once Obama became president, Wright blamed “the Jews” for his inability to get near a man who had decided his mentor was politically toxic.

  2. In 2003, Obama attended a dinner honoring Rashid Khalidi, a mouthpiece for the PLO during the 1970s and 1980s, before Bill Clinton rehabilitated that terrorist organization. Obama apparently praised Khalidi so effusively that, to this day, the Los Angeles Times refuses to release an audiotape of the event.

  3. One of Obama’s first official acts as president was to head to Egypt to give a speech to the Muslim world. During the speech, Obama claimed that the nation of Israel exists only as a sop to the Holocaust, something that denies the Jews’ 4,000-year connection to the land. He also said he supported a Palestinian state, something that, for the Palestinians, has always meant erasing a Jewish presence, with blood force if necessary.

  4. Obama had a friendly relationship with Louis Farrakhan, who called Jews satanic and compared them to termites, called Judaism a “gutter religion,” and called Hitler a “great man.” Even the leftist ADL has conceded Farrakhan’s embrace of antisemitic tropes.

  5. Obama worked hard to elevate Iran as a power in the Middle East, including making it possible for Iran to be days away from launching a nuclear weapon. He did this even though Iran has loudly and repeatedly voiced its desire to annihilate Israel. To this end, Iran has funded both Hamas and Hezbollah, which wage constant, genocidal war against Israel. Obama was unperturbed by Iran’s funding terrorism that also slaughtered U.S. troops or by the fact that Iran has officially been at war with America (“Death to America!”) since 1979.

These are just a few examples.

After Hamas’s maniacal, psychotic, brutal attack on Israeli civilians on October 7, Obama kept a very low profile. The other day, however, he agreed to give a full interview on the subject to Pod Save America, a left-wing media outlet.

Yesterday, the outlet released a snippet of the interview. Superficially, it sounds as if Obama is trying to split the baby. Everyone, he says, is at fault. It’s all very sad. Blah-blah-blah. But if you take a minute really to listen to what he says, a different message comes through:

Did you catch that little phrase in the torrent of pretend-neutral blah-blah? After acknowledging that “what Hamas did was horrific, and there’s no justification for it,” Obama says that “what is also true is that the occupation and what’s happening to Palestinians is unbearable.”

What occupation? Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005, forcibly removing Jewish settlers and leaving behind lush greenhouses that the Arabs promptly destroyed. There is no “occupation” in Gaza.

If he’s talking about an occupation, Obama can only be referring to the same occupation Gaza and its terrorist inhabitants decry: namely, the Jewish presence on the land between “the river [Jordan] and the sea [the Mediterranean].” If you look at a map, and I’m sure Obama has, Hamas and its blood-thirsty adherents want it all, and they want it just like Gaza itself: Free of living Jews and preferably littered with the bodies of dead ones.

Mostly, Obama is speaking meaningless garbage, but his friends know what he’s really saying.

How Obama’s Muslim Childhood Became a Taboo Topic

Reflections on when a gigantic biographical inconvenience was successfully hidden and denied.

June 23, 2023 by Daniel Pipes

[Order Jamie Glazov’s new book: Barack Obama’s True Legacy: How He Transformed America.]

Americans have an abiding fascination with their presidents, especially with their foibles and secrets. Who lied? Who ordered illegal operations? Who had mistresses?

Thus was the country transfixed by Bill Clinton, Monica Lewinsky, and the tawdry drip-drip of their liaison. When newly declassified documents revealed hitherto unknown CIA connections to Lee Harvey Oswald, this made a media splash, with Tucker Carlson asking: “Did the CIA have a hand in the murder of John F. Kennedy?”

But that fascination dies when it comes to Barack Obama, the Left’s quasi-sacred figure. About him, no curiosity, please, no gossip, and no hint of impropriety. When he falsely claimed in 1991 to have been born in Kenya, and not in Hawaii, blame fell on a sloppy literary agent. When Stanley Kurtz proved that Obama lied about not being a member of Chicago’s socialist New Party and a candidate for it, the Obama P.R. machine smeared Kurtz and the story disappeared.

When clear evidence showed that Obama had lied about having been born and raised a Muslim, the researcher who made the case was reviled, his investigation scorned, and his argument vaporized.

I should know, as I was that researcher. I wrote five times on this topic in 2007-08, during Obama’s first presidential campaign (three of those times in FrontPageMag.com) and then aggregated all this information, plus new details, in a long and (so far) definitive September 2012 article, “Obama’s Muslim Childhood,” serialized in the Washington Times.

All those writings emphasized that Obama was now a Christian. The first one began with:

“If I were a Muslim I would let you know,” Barack Obama has said, and I believe him. In fact, he is a practicing Christian, a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ. He is not now a Muslim. But was he ever a Muslim or seen by others as a Muslim?

I answered in the affirmative and showed how contradictory evidence concerning Obama’s religious background – from Obama’s father and name, from years in Indonesia, from his family, and most of all from himself – conclusively points to his being born and raised a Muslim.

Throughout, I emphasized not the Islam issue but the character issue; if Obama lies about something so fundamental, how can he be trusted? His other lies, such as Kenyan birth and socialist party non-membership, confirm this problem.

Responses came fast and hard. Ben Rhodes’ “echo chamber” nearly fainted at the impudence of my lèse majesté. Like Kurtz, I was slandered without the facts I presented ever addressed. Here’s a small sampling of the deluge:

· Ben Smith in Politico derided my analysis as “the template for a faux-legitimate assault on Obama’s religion.”

· The Spectator called mine the “the worst article on the presidential election” and also deemed it “mad” and “despicable.”

· Martin Peretz in the New Republic said I had “simply gone bonkers … and malicious.”

· Vice ran an article “Would You Care If Obama Were Muslim?” that responded to my carefully-crafted argument with “BLARGHA BLARGHA BLARGH REPEAL OBAMA BIN HUSSEIN’S GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER OF OUR JOBS.”

The Atlantic published no less than three attacks on the article and me. Mark Ambinder rued “the false notion that Obama is or was ever Muslim.” Andrew Sullivan dismissed my work as “toxins.” Matthew Yglesias ridiculed my saying that I believe Obama is not now a Muslim with “I, for one, believe Daniel Pipes when he says he’s not a child molester.”

And so it went, howling with outrage at the very thought of Obama as a Muslim, mocking and taunting me with ad hominem attacks, speculating about my motives. So relentless was the onslaught, even the conservative press overwhelmingly shied away from the topic. The McCain and Romney campaigns both treated the topic like Kryptonite. The issue of Obama’s lies had no impact on either presidential campaign, both of which – of course – Obama won.

I expect that, at some future time when Barack Obama loses his sacral quality, historians will take great interest in his childhood religious affiliation. They will wonder how, in the information-heavy, politically-riven, and celebrity-mad culture of early twenty-first century United States, so gigantic a biographical inconvenience could be successfully hidden and rendered taboo. They will study how, in a modern democratic society, a determined candidate can suppress even the most important and relevant information.

I look forward to the vindication.

Biden Judicial Nominee Says He 'Hasn't Studied' Enough To Condemn Hamas

Judge Edward S. Kiel (YouTube)
November 3, 2023

One of President Joe Biden’s judicial picks says he doesn’t know enough about the situation in Gaza to condemn Hamas terrorists.

Edward Sunyol Kiel brushed past questions about Hamas during a Senate hearing Wednesday, saying only that "it’s a terrible situation over there" but that "he hasn’t studied the situation" enough to condemn the terrorist attacks that left 1,400 Israelis dead. Kiel, Biden’s pick for United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey, equivocated when Sen. Josh Hawley (R., Mo.) asked about the attacks, as well as his thoughts on anti-Israel slogans like, "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free."

Hawley’s questions were prompted by Kiel’s association with the Asian-American Legal Defense and Education Fund, which recently distributed a toolkit to help college students stage anti-Israel protests. The toolkit offers ideas for chants, such as "From Palestine to Mexico, these border walls have got to go," "When Palestine is under attack, What do we do? Stand up, fight back," and "Israel, Israel, you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide."

Kiel said he was unfamiliar with the Asian-American Legal Defense and Education Fund’s activities and that he only litigated on their behalf a handful of times. He declined to say whether their recent positions on Israel reflect his own views.

"As a judge and the role that I would be playing, my personal views would not come into consideration, certainly Senator, and I would keep an open mind for all matters that come before me," Kiel said.

Only after nearly five minutes of repeated questioning from Hawley did Kiel eventually agree that "any violence against the Jewish people should be condemned." But Kiel’s initial reluctance to unequivocally distance himself from the far-left, which has been responsible for a number of anti-Semitic incidents since Hamas’s terror attacks on Israel, speaks to the influence of the Democratic Party’s most radical elements.

Hawley later recalled an episode, caught on video, at The Cooper Union, a college in New York City, where Jewish students barricaded themselves in the library to hide from anti-Israel protesters. Again, Kiel said he was not familiar "with that situation" and refused to condemn it.

"I would condemn the genocide of Jewish people," Kiel, who currently serves as a magistrate judge for the district of New Jersey, said when pressed further.

A vote on Kiel’s nomination is expected to take place later this month. Sen. Dick Durbin (D., Ill.) who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, did not respond to a request for comment.

Both the House and Senate have passed resolutions condemning anti-Semitism following Hamas’s attack on Israel. Hawley’s own resolution that targeted the flurry of anti-Semitic incidents on college campuses passed on Oct. 26 after Democrats initially blocked the measure.

"Last week, Senate Democrats blocked my resolution to condemn pro-Hamas, pro-genocide activities on college campuses," Hawley said on X, formerly Twitter. "Today they changed their minds. Finally. We must speak with one voice as a nation: attacks on Israel and Jewish Americans are evil."
