Schumer suddenly realizes he's leading the party of anti-Semitism
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has woken up and smelled the burning coffee.
According to Reuters:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The rise in antisemitism since the start of the Israel-Hamas war has reached a crisis point in the United States, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer warned on Wednesday, saying it threatens the safety of Jews worldwide and the future of Israel.
As welcome as this is, it's well worth looking at his words to discern what he means:
"To us, the Jewish people, the rise in antisemitism is a crisis. A five-alarm fire that must be extinguished," Schumer said in an emotional, 40-minute Senate speech. He stressed that he was not embracing the Israeli government's policies nor ignoring the plight of Palestinians.
Schumer made his remarks as the Senate was set to consider legislation next week providing aid for Israel and Ukraine, which are both fighting wars. Demonstrations have erupted in the U.S. and abroad against the Israeli bombing campaign in Gaza prompted by the Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel by Hamas.
So he recognizes anti-Semitism is all over the place, with incidents having risen 400% since October 7, like a fire that has gotten out of control, not recognizing that five-alarm fires come from one-alarm fires, then two, three, and more.
He even pays dhimmi-like verbal tribute to the arguments of anti-Semites, all of whom claim that they "only" oppose Zionism, or "only" oppose Israel's government, or are "only" thinking about the love of the Palestinian children, though they don't say much about that when Palestinian children are found useful to Hamas as suicide bombers or human shields.
Schumer, a Democrat who is the highest elected Jewish official in the United States, emphasized that he was not labeling the majority of criticisms of Israeli government actions as antisemitic.
"This speech is also not an attempt to pit hate towards one group against that of another. I believe that bigotry against one group of Americans is bigotry against all," he said.
What he's not doing is recognizing that it's the acts of particular people -- in swastikas waved at demonstrations, in poster-ripping, in cancel culture directed against Jews, in anti-Semitic graffiti, and in the actual targeting of Jews for violence, ... coming exclusively from the left.
He's right that it starts small, and then it gets big. He ought to note that it's fanned from the left.
Where was he when Rep. Ilhan Omar was ranting about Jews being "all about the benjamins" in a Twitter attack presumably directed at AIPAC, the pro-Israel lobby?
Sure, he condemned it, ensuring he got some unrelated licks in at President Trump.
"When someone says being Jewish and supporting Israel means you're not loyal to America, we must call it out," Schumer said. "When someone looks at a neo-Nazi rally and sees some 'very fine people' among its company, we must call it out. When someone suggests that money drives support for Israel, we must call it out."
But where was his criticism when the congressional resolution triggered by her resentful fourth-world anti-Semitism got so watered down it only became a general call for whirled peas? Omar got no penalty for this, not even losing a committee seat. Schumer looked the other way when he should have been calling for her expulsion. Anti-Semites grew bolder.
And as for AIPAC, the all-about-the-benjamins crowd threw smoke bombs and smeared fake blood on the doorway of one of the leaders of AIPAC his home in Los Angeles this past weekend. That came from a one-alarm fire like Omar that wasn't put out.
Where was Schumer when Rep. Rashida Tlaib was sticking a Palestinian flag up in her office as if it were equivalent to the American flag and putting on a Palestinian keffiyeh right after the murderous Hamas attack in Israel? Some Republicans condemned her, but we didn't see him weigh in to offer support. Now the Palestinian flag is being waved in the name of destroying Israel, "from the river to the sea," which is Jew-hate, a call for ethnic cleansing of Jews from Israel.
Where was he when the border was left wide open, allowing anyone from any anti-Semitic hellhole country to come in and act as they do in their own countries? Still, not hearing anything about that one, they're here, they're doing demonstrations waving swastikas, somebody let them in, and this problem is far from over.
And wasn't he dripping crocodile tears when President Trump instituted safeguards on travel from anti-Semitic hellholes to protect the U.S. from terrorism, adding to the chorus calling it a "Muslim ban"?
New York Senator Chuck Schumer nearly broke down in tears as he promised to "claw, scrap and fight" to overturn Donald Trump's executive order temporarily suspending all immigration from several Muslim majority countries.
"This executive order was mean-spirited and un-American," the senator said, fighting back tears.
Giving a press conference on Sunday alongside refugees from Syria and Iraq whose families had been affected, he said: "It was implemented in a way that created chaos and confusion across the country and it will only serve to embolden and inspire those around the globe who will do us harm."
He got what he wanted ... and somehow, a five-alarm fire happened.
If he's serious about what this has become, he's got to confront the left, which is his own Democrats, not Trump, not people on the right, who overwhelmingly support Israel. The five-alarm fire is coming from his own party now, and he needs to point the fire hose at them, not just claim it's something in the air that somehow needs to go away.

Schumer Wakes up to Anti-Semitism
Finally growing a pair, this past Wednesday Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) publicly spoke for over 40 minutes on the Senate floor to announce that he has just discovered that official prejudice against Jews, anti-Jewishness, Jewphobia, or anti-Semitism, as it is commonly referred to, not only still exists but is rapidly increasing.
Today, I come to the floor to speak on a subject of great importance: the rise of antisemitism in America.
I feel compelled to speak because I am the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in America; in fact, the highest-ranking Jewish elected official ever in American history.
And I have noticed a significant disparity between how Jewish people regard the rise of antisemitism, and how many of my non-Jewish friends regard it.
To us, the Jewish people, the rise of antisemitism is a crisis -- a five-alarm fire that must be extinguished.
For so many other people of good will, it is merely a problem, a matter of concern.
Duh! Senator Schumer where have you been the past few years? While you are now a senator from New York State, a state that has the highest number of Jews in the nation, you've been active in politics at all levels for many years. And hostility to Jews in New York, in addition to across the nation, has been obvious for years, even in your own Democratic party, literally in your own backyard. And you never complained. Well, at least publicly.
But , two months ago, when Muslims from 99.9% Muslim populated and governed Gaza (no Jews allowed), which is adjacent to Israel, outdid their previous barbarism against Jews when they invaded Israel, slaughtering an estimated 1200 unarmed people enjoying a music festival plus others who lived nearby during a Jewish holiday and Israelis fought back, many of your Democratic congressional colleagues from New York, such as Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) leader of the Squad, and Representative Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) viciously condemned... Israel. Which was consistent with their previous negative statements about Israel and Jews reflecting the view of their constituents.
And you remained quiet.
In the immediate aftermath of October 7th, an attack on defenseless civilians, the elderly, women, and babies, a good number of people skipped over expressing sympathy for the victims in their haste to blame the attack on the past actions of the Israeli government. Can anybody imagine a horrific terrorist attack in another country receiving such a reception?
And when Hamas terrorists actively hide behind innocent Palestinians, knowing that many of those civilians will die in the Israeli response, why does the criticism for any civilian deaths seem to fall exclusively on Israel, and not at all on Hamas?
Exactly. Why? Why does the criticism for any inadvertent civilian deaths seem to fall exclusively on Israel, and not at all on Hamas? Answer that very valid question, Senator Schumer. And so should many other critics of Israel when Israel exercises the universal right to defend itself.
Granted, most -- not all -- of the Democrats joined with their near-unanimous Republican colleagues to condemn this brutal Muslim assault while demanding the return of innocent Israelis and even non-Israelis who were participating in the music festival. Most; not all.
Schumer attended and graduated from Harvard Law School nearly 50 years ago, despite Harvard's -- and other so-called elite schools' -- notorious Jewish quota which is now matched by an equally notorious Asian quota. In other words, these schools deliberately have a long history of limiting the number of Jews they will admit or hire based on such objective criteria as SAT scores, because Jews, and now also Asians, would disproportionately qualify. And somehow this is wrong.
Today at Harvard -- and at other elite schools across the country -- students and many faculty members are demonstrating/rioting against Jews and Israelis for defending themselves. And at many nonelite schools, including a high school in Queens, New York, which Schumer represents, because one of the teachers supported Israel. The rioting was so extensive the teacher was forced to barricade herself in a closet. As for the students -- hey kids will be kids. Free speech. Blah, blah, blah.
And after October 7th, when students at Hillcrest High School in Queens ran rampant in the hallways and demanded the firing of a teacher just because she attended a rally supporting Israel, and forced her to hide in a locked office for hours while staff struggled to regain control -- that is anti-Semitism!
Walking out of school to march in support of Palestinians is completely legitimate. But forcing a Jewish teacher to remain -- as she described -- locked in an office because she attended a rally in support for Israel is anti-Semitism, pure and simple.
In fact, that teacher is sitting in the gallery today. I invited her to come and listen, and I am truly honored that she accepted my invitation. That is true courage… and I believe it shows just how strongly so many Jewish Americans feel about this issue.
She has requested anonymity, which I ask everybody present, and everybody in the media, to please respect.
Even with the support of a powerful senator, the terrified teacher still "requested anonymity." The rioters are so proud. "Please respect."
Schumer closed his Senate speech by asking:
Are we a nation that can defy the regular course of human history, where the Jewish people have been ostracized, expelled, and massacred over and over again?
I believe the answer can and must be a resounding, “Yes.”
And I will do everything in my power -- as Senate Majority Leader, as a Jewish American, as a citizen of a free society, as a human being -- to make it happen.
Ken Y'hi Ratzon (May it be his will.)
Senator Schumer, proud Americans of all backgrounds will be watching; holding you to your promise.

Veteran Blasts NYC Officials for Kicking Him Out of Senior Home to Make Room for Migrants: ‘It Isn’t Fair’
Frank Tammaro, a 95-year-old veteran of the Korean War and lifelong New Yorker, is blasting the New York City officials involved in kicking him and other seniors out of an assisted living home to make room for border crossers and illegal aliens.
In September, Tammaro appeared alongside Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) at a press conference where he revealed that he and more than 50 other senior citizens, including seven other war veterans, were being kicked out of Island Shores Senior Residence in Staten Island.
“I felt horrible. It’s no joke getting thrown out of a house,” Tammaro told Fox News Digital in a recent interview with Megan Myers and Teny Sahakian.
For Tammaro, it is yet again a situation where cities, states, and the federal government refuse to prioritize veterans who fought overseas.
“I was not in combat, but these boys that went over and went into combat and now they’re all settled in there with their lives and everything else and they’re all disrupted,” Tammaro said. “It isn’t fair.”
Behind closed doors, Tammaro soon learned that the non-governmental organization (NGO) Homes for the Homeless, which owns Island Shores, had cut a deal with New York City officials to transform the assisted living home into a migrant camp.
“It was scary, very scary. Especially when I don’t get around like I used to,” Tammaro said of being kicked out of his home where he intended to stay. “I didn’t know where I was going.”
Owners of hotels, facilities, and other locations across the city have cut similar deals with Mayor Eric Adams (D) because they are paid lucratively with local taxpayer money to take in hundreds, sometimes thousands, of border crossers and illegal aliens.
Tammaro soon moved into a different assisted living home but decided not to return after taking a fall that landed him in the hospital. Now, he has moved into his daughter’s home in Midland Beach, Staten Island.
“I do get upset when I see them handing out all this money and all these things, and I’m paying taxes and getting kicked out. I’ve never got anything from the city or the state,” Tammaro said of the border crossers and illegal aliens getting a seemingly free ride on the taxpayer’s dime.
Tammaro’s daughter, Barbara Annunziata, said she has been unable to get her father a healthcare aide because their insurance keeps rejecting him. Meanwhile, she sees border crossers and illegal aliens living for free, at the taxpayer’s expense.
“I don’t understand it at all. It’s not fair to anybody. These migrants … they’re getting everything and I can’t get nothing for him. It angers me,” Annunziata told Fox News Digital.
At the end of the day, Annunziata said it is as simple as Americans — in Tammaro’s case, a native New Yorker — being put last while the world’s migrants are given priority.
“They’re worried about the migrants more than they’re worried about the U.S. citizens,” Annunziata said.

NYC: Illegal Immigrant ‘Sanctuary’ Sees Homeless Population Surge as Busloads from Texas Continue to Arrive
New York City’s homeless population is surging thanks, in part, to the continued arrival of busloads of illegal immigrants from Texas being sent to the self-proclaimed “sanctuary.”
In the city’s Fiscal Year (FY) ending June 30, the homeless population increased 73%, rising from 46,675 in FY2022 to 80,724 in FY2023, according to statistics published last month in a financial report by the city’s comptroller.
“More than 22,000 asylum seekers applied for shelter through DHS as of April 2023,” the comptroller said in an August review of the city’s homeless situation, apparently counting all migrants as “asylum seekers.”
Last week, migrants set up camp in front of the mayor’s residence, to protest the time limit on how long they can live in one of the city’s shelters, regional network Spectrum News NY 1 reports:
“On Thursday, dozens of protestors set up tents and sleeping bags outside of Gracie Mansion, blasting the city’s recent restrictions on the length of time migrants can stay in shelters before they have to reapply for housing.”
The city currently has a 30-day shelter limit for adults and a 60-day limit for families.
In a September press release warning of the financial burden of actually having to be a sanctuary, Democrat New York City Mayor estimated that approximately 10,000 “asylum” seekers are “still arriving each month.”
The comptroller’s review says the city’s shelter system has been “overwhelmed” by the surge in immigration that began in 2022 when Texas – which was already being overwhelmed by illegal immigration – began busing immigrants to the “sanctuary” New York City had promised them:
“In October 2022, at the peak of the surge in migrants seeking asylum, DHS reported the highest-ever number of homeless people living within the shelter system.
“DHS stated that starting in April 2022, the State of Texas began sending buses of migrant asylum seekers to New York City. Buses arrived unannounced and unscheduled, and the people on them—most of whom had crossed into the United States via the southern border—were in need of shelter and care.
“By April 4, 2023, 22,002 asylum seeker households had applied for shelter through DHS. In response, the City opened 135 emergency sites between June 2022 and May 2023 for asylum seekers.
“The City shelter system was overwhelmed by this surge. The shelter population reached its highest-ever daily population by October 5, 2022, with over 61,000 people recorded. Although other City agencies have since stepped in to help shoulder part of this burden, the number of people in DHS shelters continued to grow. On March 1, 2023, the daily population in DHS shelters reached 70,848 people.”
On Friday, Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott reported that his state has bused more than 22,800 migrants to New York City since August of 2022, as part of the multi-agency border security measure, Operation Lone Star.
To deal with the staggering cost of the immigrant surge, Mayor Adams has announced the city is reducing its number of police and making across-the-board budget cuts:
“[M]ake no mistake: Migrant costs are going up, tax revenue growth is slowing and COVID stimulus funding is drying up.”
New York City’s migrant crisis will cost nearly $11billion over two fiscal years and its FY2025 budget gap is expected to “surpass unprecedented $7 billion,” the mayor’s press release estimates.

Foreign-Born Population Hits 49.5 Million Under Biden – Largest Ever in American History
The nation’s foreign-born population has hit an unprecedented 49.5 million, the largest ever recorded in American history, under President Joe Biden.
Analysis by Steven Camarota and Karen Zeigler at the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) revealed that in October the foreign-born population reached almost 50 million, increasing by 4.5 million foreign-born residents since Biden took office in January 2021.
Put another way, the Biden administration has added more immigrants to the nation’s population than the annual number of U.S. births in fewer than three years. Similarly, the growth of the foreign-born population under Biden exceeds the resident populations of 25 states.
“At 15 percent, the foreign-born share of the U.S. population is also the highest ever recorded in American history,” Camarota and Zeigler wrote:
As the debate rages over the ongoing border crisis, this finding is important because administrative numbers such as border encounters or even legal immigrant arrivals do not measure the actual size of the immigrant population, which is what ultimately determines immigration’s impact on the country. [Emphasis added]
In numbers even excessive for a liberal White House, Biden has doubled the monthly inflow of immigration. Under former President Barack Obama, for example, the foreign-born population grew by about 68,000 every month and under former President Donald Trump it grew by about 42,000 a month.
Biden, on the other hand, has grown the foreign-born population by a whopping 137,000 every month since taking office. More than half — about 2.5 million — of those arriving under Biden, the CIS researchers note, are illegal aliens with the remaining two million arriving as legal immigrants.
More than 6-in-10 foreign-born residents who have arrived since Biden became president are from Latin America while others are primarily from Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, and the Middle East.
Though much attention is given to illegal immigration, the nation’s policy of annually importing more than a million legal immigrants accounts for 75 percent of the total foreign-born population today.
Without reductions to legal immigration levels, the foreign-born population is expected to hit 70 million by 2060.
American voters continuously tell pollsters they want cuts to overall immigration, mostly legal immigration. The latest survey from Rasmussen Reports showed 56 percent of likely voters want legal immigration levels cut to at least 750,000 admissions a year — including a plurality who said they want to see fewer than 500,000 admissions a year.
Likewise, 62 percent of likely voters said they oppose current immigration law which allows for so-called “chain migration,” the process where newly naturalized citizens can sponsor an unlimited number of foreign relatives for green cards.
Most relevant to the CIS analysis, nearly 7-in-10 likely voters said they want immigration-driven population growth either slowed or halted altogether so that the U.S. population can stabilize at a comfortable rate.
