Recent Poll Demonstrates Majority of Voters Favor Immigration Enforcement over Amnesty
A recent poll conducted by The Washington Times and JZ Analytics revealed that a majority of voters favor immigration enforcement over amnesty. In fact, the poll showed that two-thirds of likely voters surveyed would like to see police officers in their jurisdiction check immigration status during routine traffic stops. In addition, 50 percent of voters "strongly" agreed with Arizona's SB 1070 immigration enforcement law, with 17 percent "somewhat" agreeing with the law. Only 29 percent strongly or somewhat disagreed with the law. (Washington Times, July 10, 2012)
Moreover, when asked what should be done with the current illegal alien population, a strong plurality of those surveyed responded that illegal aliens should be sent home without an opportunity for amnesty. Overall, 49 percent of those polled said illegal aliens should be sent home where they can then "return through regular immigration channels." Only 29 percent support a path to citizenship from within the U.S., and nine percent support allowing illegal aliens to remain in the country without a path to citizenship. (Id.)

Jose Herria emigrated illegally from Mexico to
Stockton, Calif., in 1997 to work as a fruit picker. He brought with him his
wife, Felipa, and three children, 19, 12 and 8 – all illegals. When Felipa gave
birth to her fourth child, daughter Flor, the family had what is referred to as
an "anchor baby" – an American citizen by birth who provided the
entire Silverio clan a ticket to remain in the U.S. permanently. But Flor was
born premature, spent three months in the neonatal incubator and cost the San
Joaquin Hospital more than $300,000. Meanwhile, oldest daughter Lourdes married
an illegal alien gave birth to a daughter, too. Her name is Esmeralda. And
Felipa had yet another child, Cristian. The two Silverio anchor babies generate
$1,000 per month in public welfare funding for the family. Flor gets $600 a
month for asthma. Healthy Cristian gets $400. While the Silverios earned
$18,000 last year picking fruit, they picked up another $12,000 for their two
"anchor babies." While President Bush says the U.S. needs more
"cheap labor" from south of the border to do jobs Americans aren't
willing to do, the case of the Silverios shows there are indeed uncalculated
costs involved in the importation of such labor – public support and uninsured
medical costs. In fact, the increasing number of illegal aliens coming into the
United States is forcing the closure of hospitals, spreading previously
vanquished diseases and threatening to destroy America's prized health-care
system, says a report in the spring issue of the Journal of American Physicians
and Surgeons. "The influx of illegal aliens has serious hidden medical
consequences," writes Madeleine Pelner Cosman, author of the report.
"We judge reality primarily by what we see. But what we do not see can be
more dangerous, more expensive, and more deadly than what is seen."
According to her study, 84 California hospitals are closing their doors as a
direct result of the rising number of illegal aliens and their non-reimbursed
tax on the system. "Anchor babies," the author writes, "born to
illegal aliens instantly qualify as citizens for welfare benefits and have
caused enormous rises in Medicaid costs and stipends under Supplemental
Security Income and Disability Income." In addition, the report says,
"many illegal aliens harbor fatal diseases that American medicine fought
and vanquished long ago, such as drug-resistant tuberculosis, malaria, leprosy,
plague, polio, dengue, and Chagas disease." While politicians often
mention there are 43 million without health insurance in this country, the
report estimates that at least 25 percent of those are illegal immigrants. The
figure could be as high as 50 percent. Not being insured does not mean they
don't get medical care. Under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor
Act of 1985, hospitals are obligated to treat the uninsured without
reimbursement. "Government imposes viciously stiff fines and penalties on
any physician and any hospital refusing to treat any patient that a zealous
prosecutor deems an emergency patient, even though the hospital or physician
screened and declared the patient's illness or injury non-emergency," says
the report. "But government pays neither hospital nor physician for
treatments. In addition to the fiscal attack on medical facilities and
personnel, EMTALA is a handy truncheon with which to pummel politically
unpopular physicians by falsely accusing them of violating EMTALA."
According to the report, between 1993 and 2003, 60 California hospitals closed
because half their services became unpaid. Another 24 California hospitals
verge on closure, the author writes. "American hospitals welcome 'anchor
babies,'" says the report. "Illegal alien women come to the hospital
in labor and drop their little anchors, each of whom pulls its illegal alien
mother, father, and siblings into permanent residency simply by being born
within our borders. Anchor babies are citizens, and instantly qualify for
public welfare aid: Between 300,000 and 350,000 anchor babies annually become
citizens because of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution:
"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the
jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and the State wherein
they reside." Among the organizations directing illegal aliens into America's
medical systems, according to the report, are the Ford Foundation-funded
Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, the National Immigration Law
Center, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the American Bar
Association's Commission on Immigration Policy, Practice, and Pro Bono, the
Immigrant Legal Resource Center, the National Council of La Raza, George
Soros's Open Society Institute, the Migration Policy Institute, the National
Network for Immigration and Refugee Rights and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Because drug addiction and alcoholism are classified as diseases and
disabilities, the fiscal toll on the health-care system rises.

As the mainstream media
focuses on a study that reveals a sharp decline in the nation’s illegal
immigrant population, monthly welfare payments to children of undocumented
aliens increased to $52 million in one U.S. county alone.
The hoopla surrounding last
week’s news that the annual flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S. dropped by two-thirds in the
past decade overlooked an important matter; the cost of educating, incarcerating
and medically treating illegal aliens hasn’t decreased along with it, but
rather skyrocketed to the tune of tens of billions of dollars annually.

INCLUDE EXTRA MILLIONS PAID FOR ANCHOR BABIES
Those figures don’t even
include the extra millions that local municipalities dish out on welfare
payments to the U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants, commonly known as
anchor babies. In Los Angeles County alone that figure increased by nearly $4
million in the last year, sticking taxpayers with a whopping $52
million tab to
provide illegal immigrants’ offspring with food stamps and other welfare
benefits for just one month.
That means the nation’s
most populous county, in the midst of a dire financial crisis, will spend more
than $600 million this year to provide families headed by illegal immigrants
with welfare benefits. In each of the past two years Los Angeles County
taxpayers have spent about half a billion dollars just to cover the welfare and
food-stamp costs of illegal immigrants. Additionally,
the county spends $550 million on public safety and nearly $500 million on
healthcare for illegal aliens.
About a quarter of the
county’s welfare and food stamp issuances go to parents who reside in the
United States illegally and collect benefits for their anchor babies, according
to the figures from L.A. County’s Department of Social Services. Nationwide,
Americans pay around $22 billion annually to provide illegal immigrants with
welfare perks that include food assistance programs such as free school lunches
in public schools, food stamps and a nutritional program (known as WIC) for
low-income women and their children.

Basis for Immigration reform.
Mexico is a POOR country because it's ruling class decided
LONG AGO not to have a middle class based society. By having a miniscule ultra
rich ruling class and a vast majority peasant /slave working class, the ones
ruling figured that "this" would be good for them. The United
States has always been the relief valve for the frustated, poverty stricken
citizens of Mexico whom could not withstand the conditions any longer.
The Mexican ruling class's cavalier attitude has been
ENABLED by the charitible attitude and the GREED of the United States citizens
and corporations whom could "get a deal" on labor costs on every type
of hard labor work imaginable. Mexican officials have ALWAYS encouraged it's
citizens to cross the border illegally, then bring back the cash BACK where it
could circulate into Mexico's banks and society.
This logic that basically has been considered by some that
" Mexico's poor" often equated that everyone should feel sorry for
the poor citizens. I do- but ONLY to the point of realizing that ANY bad
situatrion can be CORRECTED by addresing the ROOT cause. If a person goes to
the hospital with a broken arm, will a aspirin FIX the broken bone ? Will it ?
People have continually let the Mexiacn govt and it's ruling

Mexico could learn a few things from Canada. Canadian
citizens very often cross into the US without problems because their government
UNDERSTANDS that people need to have living wages to be a fruitful society- PAY
decent wages, and your society will appreciate it- they WONT run away, Your
POLICE force will be less corrupt as well.
I RESPECT the Mexican citizens for their hard work ethic,
they deserve much better than citizenship- They deserve THEIR OWN country to be
proud of. Just imagine how many times we ALL could cross each other's border
without the PROBLEMS or worry we now have.
I'm sorry but Mexicans deserve BETTER than American
citizenship, as Americans deserve better than a FLOOD of poverty stricken
mouths to feed. People's ideas of just giving citizenship away doesnt FIX the
ROOT CAUSE.
Let's FOCUS on the root cause instead of providing aspirins
to broken limbs. Here's what needs to occur:
1) The US Government need to put Mexico ON
NOTICE that they have caused this problem
2) Mexican citizens NEED to protest, let their

this week's summit, failed reforms under Fox should be the issue, not US

At the parleys this week with his US and Canadian
counterparts in Cancún, Mexican President Vicente Fox will press for more
opportunities for his countrymen north of the Rio Grande. Specifically, he will
argue for additional visas for Mexicans to enter the United States and Canada,
the expansion of guest-worker schemes, and the "regularization" of
illegal immigrants who reside throughout the continent. In a recent interview
with CNN, the Mexican chief executive excoriated as "undemocratic"
the extension of a wall on the US-Mexico border and called for the
"orderly, safe, and legal" northbound flow of Mexicans, many of whom
come from his home state of Guanajuato. Mexican legislators share Mr. Fox's
goals. Silvia Hernández Enriquez, head of the Senate Committee on Foreign
Relations for North America, recently emphasized that the solution to the
"structural phenomenon" of unlawful migration lies not with
"walls or militarization" but with "understanding, cooperation,
and joint responsibility." Such rhetoric would be more convincing if
Mexican officials were making a good faith effort to uplift the 50 percent of
their 106 million people who live in poverty. To his credit, Fox's
"Opportunities" initiative has improved slightly the plight of the
poorest of the poor. Still, neither he nor Mexico's lawmakers have advanced
measures that would spur sustained growth, improve the quality of the workforce,
curb unemployment, and obviate the flight of Mexicans abroad. Indeed, Mexico's
leaders have turned hypocrisy from an art form into an exact science as they
shirk their obligations to fellow citizens, while decrying efforts by the US
senators and representatives to crack down on illegal immigration at the border
and the workplace. What are some examples of this failure of responsibility? •
When oil revenues are excluded, Mexico raises the equivalent of only 9 percent
of its gross domestic product in taxes - a figure roughly equivalent to that of
Haiti and far below the level of major Latin American nations. Not only is
Mexico's collection rate ridiculously low, its fiscal regime is riddled with
loopholes and exemptions, giving rise to widespread evasion. Congress has
rebuffed efforts to reform the system. Insufficient revenues mean that Mexico
spends relatively little on two key elements of social mobility: Education
commands just 5.3 percent of its GDP and healthcare only 6.10 percent,
according to the World Bank's last comparative study. • A venal,
"come-back-tomorrow" bureaucracy explains the 58 days it takes to
open a business in Mexico compared with three days in Canada, five days in the
US, nine days in Jamaica, and 27 days in Chile. Mexico's private sector
estimates that 34 percent of the firms in the country made "extra
official" payments to functionaries and legislators in 2004. These bribes
totaled $11.2 billion and equaled 12 percent of GDP. • Transparency
International, a nongovernmental organization, placed Mexico in a tie with
Ghana, Panama, Peru, and Turkey for 65th among 158 countries surveyed for
corruption. • Economic competition is constrained by the presence of
inefficient, overstaffed state oil and electricity monopolies, as well as a small
number of private corporations - closely linked to government big shots -that
control telecommunications, television, food processing, transportation,
construction, and cement. Politicians who talk about, much less propose,
trust-busting measures are as rare as a snowfall in the Sonoran Desert.
Geography, self-interests, and humanitarian concerns require North America's
neighbors to cooperate on myriad issues, not the least of which is immigration.
However, Mexico's power brokers have failed to make the difficult decisions
necessary to use their nation's bountiful wealth to benefit the masses.
Washington and Ottawa have every right to insist that Mexico's pampered elite
act responsibly, rather than expecting US and Canadian taxpayers to shoulder
burdens Mexico should assume.

The $90 million California is expected to receive from the
federal government this year for jailing illegal immigrants convicted of crimes
is far short of the state's roughly $1 billion annual cost, officials said.
"The federal government has sole control over the nation's borders. The states do not," said H.D. Palmer, a spokesman for the state's finance department. "The incarceration costs associated are borne disproportionally by states like California."
Los Angeles County officials have not projected how much in reimbursement funds they could receive this year.
But in 2009, the county received $15.4 million in federal money, officials said. That is a fraction of the $100 million it spends on average to jail illegal immigrants.
"The federal government reimburses us literally pennies on the dollar what it costs us," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Mark McCorkle said
The state -- which houses 19,000 illegal immigrants in its prisons and jails -- receives the federal money through the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program, or SCAAP. Obama's proposed budget plan sets aside $330 million for the incarceration program, down from $400 million last year.
But with California struggling to balance its budget, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is continuing to fight for additional funding, Palmer said.
Last year, Sheriff Lee Baca wrote a letter to the House Appropriations Committee urging an increase in funding for the program.
"Because SCAAP reimburses previously incurred undocumented criminal alien incarceration costs, every dollar of incarceration costs not reimbursed by SCAAP adds a dollar to state and local budget shortfalls that must be offset by reductions in other essential services," Baca wrote.
Although the county does not know exactly how many undocumented immigrants are in its jails, McCorkle said about 3,300 inmates identify themselves as foreign-born.
Officials from states greatly affected by illegal immigration long have argued that their taxpayers should not have to bear the burden for Washington's failure to control the border.
"The federal government has sole control over the nation's borders. The states do not," said H.D. Palmer, a spokesman for the state's finance department. "The incarceration costs associated are borne disproportionally by states like California."
Los Angeles County officials have not projected how much in reimbursement funds they could receive this year.
But in 2009, the county received $15.4 million in federal money, officials said. That is a fraction of the $100 million it spends on average to jail illegal immigrants.
"The federal government reimburses us literally pennies on the dollar what it costs us," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Mark McCorkle said
The state -- which houses 19,000 illegal immigrants in its prisons and jails -- receives the federal money through the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program, or SCAAP. Obama's proposed budget plan sets aside $330 million for the incarceration program, down from $400 million last year.
But with California struggling to balance its budget, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is continuing to fight for additional funding, Palmer said.
Last year, Sheriff Lee Baca wrote a letter to the House Appropriations Committee urging an increase in funding for the program.
"Because SCAAP reimburses previously incurred undocumented criminal alien incarceration costs, every dollar of incarceration costs not reimbursed by SCAAP adds a dollar to state and local budget shortfalls that must be offset by reductions in other essential services," Baca wrote.
Although the county does not know exactly how many undocumented immigrants are in its jails, McCorkle said about 3,300 inmates identify themselves as foreign-born.

Today, Americans face
an unprecedented illegal immigration crisis facilitated by multi-billion dollar
drug and human importing cartels as well as corporations which are inducing the
invasion by aiding and abetting illegal aliens and using their influence on the
Executive Branch and elections to paralyze existing immigration laws supported
by over 80% of the American citizenry.
These events are not random and chaotic. Massive
illegal immigration is the result of non-enforcement and under-enforcement of
our existing immigration laws.
Supporters of illegal aliens love to claim that our
immigration system is broken. The system is not broken. Elite financial and
political business interests who could care less about the death and
devastation they are causing Americans have sabotaged the system. Their profits
continue to rise as they send the rest of America spiraling downward on a path
to anarchy and Third World quality-of-life conditions.
By using their influence to suspend our existing
laws, these globalist special interests have deprived all Americans of
political representation as well as their votes, their voice, and a functioning
Republic for which our flag stands.
When the laws of the American people – debated and voted on by their duly-elected Congressional Representatives and signed into law by the President– go intentionally under-enforced by the Executive Branch, all of the principles, sovereignty, and self-governance of Americans are derailed. The will of the American public, the existing laws, the US Constitution, and the borders of our great nation are perceived as market hindrances to the global elite. We the people of America are perceived as peasants and subjects beneath the power of their influence.
The American public has spoken through our
lawmakers and in numerous polls. A super majority of Americans want our
existing laws enforced, those responsible for illegal immigration fined and/or
imprisoned, the borders secured, and illegal aliens deported from the United
States for many years or permanently. These fact remain, despite several
politicized polls which attempt to manufacture consent and make you believe
such views represent a minority.
The truth is that most Americans want the illegal
aliens to return to the nations of which they are citizens. The rallying cry
is: "Illegals Go Home!"
We could easily list 101 reasons why Americans are
upset about illegal immigration. Most are concerned about the 4,000+
preventable deaths of Americans by the criminal acts of illegal aliens on our
soil each year. No corporate propaganda will change the fact that most
Americans do not want to surrender or capitulate to the lawless masses rushing
into our nation.
No poll or politicized source is needed to prove
this point because the decision is based upon our nation's successful history
and basic common sense. The answer is based on something that every judge,
lawmaker, and even street thug knows. The penalties must outweigh the benefits
if you want to deter any action.
It is common sense and common practice in America
that for any law to be a deterrent, two important factors are in play. First,
the laws must be enforced, and second, the penalties for any crime must exceed
the benefits to those breaking the law.
It is truly amazing that we find ourselves as a
nation having to explain these basic foundations of law to corporations and
politicians in the year 2007 despite their existence since the dawn of
civilization! Can you imagine what would happen in America if the penalty for
robbing a bank was that you had to return half of the money you stole if, and
only if, you were apprehended for the crime? What if the penalty for car theft
was paying a $2,000 fine if you were caught with the stolen vehicle?
The answers are clear. Within a month, you would
not have a bank open in America and you would not be able to keep a car worth
more than $2,000 in your driveway for more than a week. How many millions of
people would quickly take up the careers of bank robber and car thief once the
rewards for the crime were higher than the penalty?
If American businesses and homes left their windows
and doors unlocked each night and robbers were merely removed by police when
detected – only to try again the next night – what do you think would happen?
If big, global businesses practiced the same non-enforcement of security
similar to the lack of border security and lack of immigration enforcement they
have facilitated for Americans, they would be out of business in a matter of
days or weeks. If they left their doors unlocked at night and just pushed
people back to the street, America would quickly descend into such chaos and
anarchy that we would be unable to sustain a population of 300 million. Our
population would take a hit similar to the impact of the Black Plague on
Europe, and we would quickly enter a new dark age.
Since illegal aliens can never afford to compensate
Americans for what they have taken, they must go. We do not need to go door to
door looking for illegals to deport in America. Attrition through enforcement
works. Illegal aliens are leaving the states of Georgia and Pennsylvania in
droves, not because they are enforcing the laws but because they have simply
announced they plan to start!
Unfortunately, the current state of affairs in America has illegals flooding in by the millions each year and many law-abiding Americans fleeing the states of California and Texas and many towns and cities in search of more safety and security. Many Americans are on the run and finding few places left to run to.
The illegal aliens are sending a clear message on
the streets of Los Angeles and other major urban centers. They are saying:
"This is our land. White, black, and legal Hispanics get out!"
This is great news for the housing and real estate markets, Wal-Mart, and McDonalds. They are growing the economy using rapid population growth. This is great news for big corporations and bad news for Americans.
Attrition through enforcement will work. In fact,
if President George Bush were to announce on national television that America
would begin securing our borders and enforcing our existing laws in one month,
so many illegal aliens would leave America that Mexico would have to set up
refuge stations!
Another important reason that the illegal aliens must leave for the long term is that they'll return to their home communities with a message for their neighbors that their ill-gotten gains did not pay off in America. This is the only thing that will stop, or slow, the flow. Deporting illegal aliens and sending them packing is the only real way we can put a stop to this crisis.
The politicians in DC are very aware that Americans
want the illegal aliens to go. That is why their latest Scamnesty legislation
includes a “touchback”provision. Under these laws, the illegal aliens can hop
across the Mexican or Canadian borders where special "Ellis Island"
stations are set up for them to pay a fine, receive new documentation and be
back in the US within days or hours.
The lunatics advocating this plan are counting on Americans to be so stupid and so gullible that they can say, "Look, the illegals left and walked back in legally. Problem solved!" They are eager to pretend to accommodate the American desires for the illegals to leave while quickly returning their slave labor force to our nation.
They know that Americans want illegals to leave and
get behind a long line of legal immigrants waiting to enter the US, including
millions of people who have been waiting 5-10 years. These politicians and the
illegal aliens need to be shown the way to the back of the line. The back of
the line is back in the country in which they are citizens, 5-10 years down the
road behind all of the talented and law-abiding people who respect our laws.
If these traitorous corporations and politicians
succeed in setting up these Ellis Island stations for “Operation
Touchback," the revered symbol of Ellis Island will take on a new meaning
that Americans see with contempt and resentment. Ellis Island will become a
name associated with the horrendous betrayal of free Americans and the
deathblow to the American Republic. This is a symbol of America’s surrender and
the subjugation of all her people.
If we allow the politicians in DC to sign off on
the many Guest Worker, Temporary Worker, Path to Citizenship, Amnesty,
Scamnesty bills written by the US Chamber of Commerce, then no wall with an
army on top of it will stop the next 20 million from crashing down on our
country. We will have signaled that America is weak and will capitulate and
accommodate. Already, the word is out in Central and South America that they
can come and stay. Each time President Bush has opened his mouth about such
programs, the US Border Patrol reports massive spikes in illegal crossings.
Since there is literally no end to the stream of
illegals who want to be in America, this will be the end of America as we have
known it and as history has praised it.
In the past, when America has cracked down on
illegal immigration and the American people have signaled they want the
immigration brakes applied, the policies have worked. New laws written near the
turn of the 20th century greatly reduced the amount of immigration into
America. When Presidents Franklin Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower launched
large deportation campaigns in the 1950s and 1930s, illegal immigration slowed
to minuscule levels as a result.
Whether you agree or disagree with the decisions of
the past, these policies were part of the successful formula that have led
America to become the most opulent and successful civilization in human history.
While some argue that these enforcement measures were racist and that some American citizens of different races were improperly deported at the time, we now have the technology and methodology in place to assure that American citizens and legal immigrants are not improperly affected by our immigration enforcement efforts.
The difference in 2007 is that the globalist
corporations that have hijacked the American government want to stop the
American citizenry from applying the brakes this time. They have taken away our
ability to determine who can enter our nation and our ability to stop armed and
unarmed invasions as granted by the US Constitution.
To take away the self-governance of Americans is to kill the very thing that has made us such a great and successful nation.
In a time of crisis like this, we must stand firm

In a flabbergasting
request, a coalition of Mexican lawmakers has asked the United States to stop
deporting illegal immigrants who have been convicted of serious crimes in
American courts.
The preposterous
demand was made at a recent southern California conference in which the mayors
of four Mexican cities that border the U.S. gathered to discuss cross-border
issues. The only American mayor who attended the biannual event was San Diego’s
Jerry Sanders, evidently because his city hosted it this year at a fancy
downtown hotel.
Among the
cross-border topics that were addressed at the conference was the deportation
of Mexican citizens who have committed violent crimes in the U.S. The felons
are persona non grata in their communities, say the mayors of Tijuana, Ciudad
Juarez, Nogales and Nuevo Laredo. They want U.S. officials to stem the
deportation of such convicts to their cities, according to a local newspaper report that covered the conference.
To support the
request, the mayor (Jose Reyes Ferriz) of Mexico’s most violent city, Ciudad
Juarez, pointed out that of 80,000 people deported to his community in the past
three years nearly 30,000 had committed serious crimes in the U.S. Around 7,000
had served sentences for rape and 2,000 for murder. The criminal deportees have
contributed to the escalating drug-cartel violence in his city, Mayor Ferriz
said, so he wants the U.S. to make other arrangements when prison sentences are
completed.
If this seems
unbelievable, consider that a few years ago Mexico’s government formally
complained that too many Mexicans had been repatriated from the U.S. and that the entire country was overwhelmed
with demands for housing, jobs and schools. Various Mexican legislators
publicly chastised the U.S. for sending illegal immigrants back, explaining
that the country could not accommodate the “repatriated.”

U.S. Spending At
Least $18.6 Million Per Day to Incarcerate Illegal Aliens; More Than 195,000
Illegal Aliens Deported in Fiscal 2010 Had Committed Crimes Here
More than 11,000 gang
members and their associates have been arrested over a three-year period thanks
to a crackdown in immigration enforcement by the U.S. Immigration and Customs
Enforcement.
(CNSNews.com) – U.S. taxpayers are spending at least $18.6 million
per day to house an estimated 300,000 to 450,000 illegal immigrants who
are incarcerated and eligible for deportation from the United States, according
to data from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of
Justice (DOJ).
The cost per day for
these prisoners is based on Justice Department incarceration cost estimates
from 2001 and on the lower-end figure of 300,000 incarcerated deportable
aliens, which means the actual expense today could be substantially higher
than $18.6 million per day.
The prisoners
involved here are foreign national who have come into the United States,
committed a crime, been captured, and imprisoned.
Half of the
undocumented aliens who were removed from the United States in fiscal 2010
(which ended on Sept. 30) had been convicted of a crime in the United States.
On Wednesday, the
office of the DHS Inspector General (IG) released its annual performance plan report for fiscal year 2011, which states that there
are “approximately 300,000 to 450,000 criminal aliens incarcerated in federal,
state, county, and local correctional facilities [who] are eligible for removal
from the United States.”
In its March 2010 report, "Immigration Enforcement Actions: 2009," the DHS
defines removal as "the compulsory and confirmed movement of an
inadmissible or deportable alien out of the United States based on an order of
removal. An alien who is removed has administrative or criminal consequences
placed on subsequent reentry owing to the fact of the removal."
Kara McCarthy, a
spokeswoman at the DOJ, told CNSNews.com that the latest data available show
that “average annual operating costs per state inmate for Fiscal Year 2001 was
$22,650; in the Federal Bureau of Prisons it was $22,632.”
These annual
operation costs exclude “capital expenditures, juvenile corrections, probation,
parole, and most central office functions of corrections spending,” McCarthy
told CNSNews.com
The cost of $22,650
per year to house just one inmate at the state level equals about $62 a day
($22,650 divided by 365 days). In the Federal Bureau of Prisons, it also
averages out to $62 per day ($22,632 divided by 365 days).
Given this daily
average expense (based on fiscal year 2001 costs), it can be estimated
that the cost of housing 300,000 incarcerated illegal aliens in U.S.
prisons would equal $18.6 million per day; the cost for housing 450,000
incarcerated illegal aliens would equal $27.9 million per day. If
inflation in prison costs since 2001 were factored in, the expense would be
even greater.
When CNSNews.com
asked why incarcerated aliens who are eligible for removal have not been
deported, a DHS spokesperson said, “It is because they are still serving their
criminal sentence. ICE does not receive criminal aliens from state criminal
justice systems until after they have completed their sentences.” (ICE is
the acronym for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.)
On the same day the
IG’s office released its performance plan report, DHS Secretary Janet
Napolitano and ICE Director John Morton announced that half of the
undocumented aliens who were removed from the United States in fiscal year
2010, which ended on Sept. 30, were convicted criminals.
“In fiscal year 2010,
ICE set a record for overall removals of illegal aliens, with more than 392,000
removals nationwide,” says an Oct. 6 press release from the DHS. “Half of those removed--more than
195,000--were convicted criminals.”
“The fiscal year 2010
statistics represent increases of more than 23,000 removals overall and 81,000
criminal removals compared to fiscal year 2008--a more than 70 percent increase
in removal of criminal aliens from the previous administration,” added the
release.
It is uncertain
whether the IG office’s estimate of 300,000 to 450,000 incarcerated
criminal aliens who are eligible for removal takes into account the
195,000 criminal aliens removed in fiscal 2010. The IG office did not respond
to CNSNews.com for a clarification on this point before this story was posted.
Nevertheless, the DHS
did not deport all of the criminal illegal aliens who are eligible for
removal and are currently sitting in U.S. correctional facilities.
The DOJ spokeswoman
told CNSNews.com that, according to its latest figures, “In 2008 there were
785,556 inmates in the nation's [local and county] jails and 1,518,559 inmates in
state and federal prisons.” That equals 2,304,115 inmates in total in the
United States.
Given those numbers,
300,000 incarcerated criminal aliens would equal 13 percent of the entire
inmate population of the United States, while 450,000 incarcerated criminal
aliens would equal 19.5 percent of the entire inmate population.
According to the IG
report from DHS, “The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 requires ICE
to initiate deportation proceedings for incarcerated criminal aliens as
expeditiously as possible after the date of conviction. Criminal aliens who are
eligible for deportation include illegal aliens in the United States who are
convicted of any crime and lawful permanent residents who are convicted of a
removable offense as defined in the Immigration and Nationality Act.”

In case you are interested, that is 250 illegal alien child
molesters. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.
When we talk about the costs to secure our borders, we need to ask
"How many crimes against children is acceptable collateral damage?"
Isn't that what it is all about? Cheap lettuce versus molested, raped and
murdered children - a cost/benefit tradeoff.
Occasionally, the Federal Government decides to actually do
something about some of the more violent illegal alien criminals - after they
are already here and have committed mayhem! Operation Predator evolved out of ICE's mission to find and deport illegal aliens
with the more heinous criminal records. The majority of the arrests under
Operation Predator - roughly 85% - involved foreign nationals in this country
whose child sex crimes made them removable from the United States. By matching
immigration databases with state Megan's law directories, ICE agents have
arrested more than 1,800 registered sex offenders.
Digressing for a moment, what the hell was a convicted, illegal
alien sex offender even doing out of jail or not immediately deported – even if
63% do come right back - let alone roaming around the neighborhoods while on a
registry! Has the judicial system in this country gone insane?
In any case, Operation Predator began on July 9, 2003, and
resulted in 6,085 child predator arrests throughout the country - an average of
roughly 250 arrests per month and eight arrests per day. While arrests have
been made in every state, the most have occurred in these states: Arizona
(207), California (1,578), Florida (255), Illinois (282), Michigan (153),

While Operation Predator was a noble effort and ICE is to be
commended, it only made a small dent in the criminal activity and number of
horrific crimes being committed by illegal alien child sexual predators.
It is worth noting that some pedophile statistics report that each pedophile molests average of
148 children. If so, that could be as many as 900,580 victims from just the
6,085 illegal alien predators that were caught. Regardless, how many children
being molested is acceptable collateral damage?
In fact, the criminal activity in the illegal alien community is
now so bad that illegal aliens are being
held for ransom and as slaves by other illegal aliens and smugglers are kidnapping illegal aliens from other

While it is a fact that most illegal aliens are law abiding,
except for breaking immigration laws, it is also a fact that a significant
percentage of illegal aliens have no respect for the rule of law and our legal
customs. Many come with anti-American attitudes and philosophies that are
totally alien to our culture, a subject addressed later in this paper. The end
result is an ever-growing lawlessness among large portions of the illegal alien
communities. It only makes sense that illegal alien criminals come to the
United States - this is where the money is and our jails are a whole lot nicer
than what they have in their home countries.
As previously noted, this report does not go into the property
crimes being committed by illegal aliens. However, like the activities of other
equal opportunity criminals, many property crimes are drug related, an activity
that many illegal aliens, especially illegal alien gangs, are involved in.
While violent crimes against one's person are the most serious, if your identity
or car is stolen by an illegal alien you won't be too happy about it.
As a small example of property crimes, in 2003, according to the
Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles, 57,600 cars were stolen in Phoenix alone.
The owner losses are estimated to exceed $864 million. Most of the stolen cars
ended up in Mexico and were never recovered. How many of those cars were stolen
by illegal alien criminals versus resident criminals is unknown but you can
rest assured that illegal aliens had a large part of it..
