Lloyd Marcus's
"The Source of BLM's Super-Power" concludes, "But most of all,
BLM's demands are evil. Everyday Americans must say, 'No!' putting
an end to BLM's takeover of America immediately."
This
article gives everybody it reaches the power to send BLM, along with its
political, academic, and corporate supporters, crashing down in total
ruin. This material, all of which readers and other interested
parties can verify independently from the links — you don't have to take my
word for it — also has the potential to demolish the credibility of ActBlue,
the Democrats' key fundraising organization, and the left-leaning Thousand Currents organization. This
material is, to be quite blunt, what Kryptonite is to Superman, Valyrian
Steel is to the White Walkers in Game
of Thrones, and a cross is to Dracula. The issue consists
simply of BLM's apparent misuse of 501(c)(3) tax-exempt money to influence the
November election.
An inaccurate story has
been circulating to the effect that Black Lives Matter is working with ActBlue
to launder money that goes to Democratic candidates. Open Secrets explains,
"A donation to BLM through ActBlue goes just to BLM, not any other
group." ActBlue is itself not 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, so there's
nothing more to see here, is there, folks?
There
is actually plenty to see, and the real truth is far worse than the debunked
rumor. While ActBlue is not 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, therefore it has
considerable leeway about what it does with its money, ActBlue Charities,
which accepts donations for
the Black Lives Global Network (the entity that apparently controls
Blacklivesmatter.com) is. Thousand Currents,
which is BLM's fiscal sponsor, also is
501(c)(3) tax-exempt. BLM is openly using its website to campaign
against President Trump. Web pages hosted by ActBlue Charities and
Thousand Currents also attack Trump, so these entities will have trouble saying
"we did not know."
We
need to clarify before we proceed that BLM Global Network is emphatically not BLM Foundation, the
noncontroversial organization founded by Robert Ray Barnes. BLM
Global Network is represented at BlackLivesMatter.com, the same website linked
by Thousand Currents and which collects donations via ActBlue
Charities. The fact that the first Google result for "Black
Lives Matter Foundation" links to BLM Global Network's About page* suggests to me that the latter
organization is using the name of Barnes's organization to mislead internet
users into visiting BlackLivesMatter.com instead and possibly donate money
under the mistaken belief that they are supporting Barnes's far less
controversial organization. This tells me plenty, and nothing good,
about the ethics of BLM Global Network. For the purpose of further
discussion, "BLM" means BLM Global Network and not BLM Foundation.
501(c)(3) Money Cannot be Used to Influence an Election
The
Internal Revenue Service says, "All
501(c)(3) organizations are prohibited from participating in any political
campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate running for public
office." While the corporations that are supporting BLM can
under some circumstances seek
to influence elections, they need to ask about how they and their brands will
look to customers, employees, and investors when this story about how BLM is
using tax-exempt support goes viral.
BLM Global Network is Openly Campaigning against Trump
501(c)(3)
tax-exempt organizations are permitted to discuss issues of public interest,
but they are not permitted to try to influence any election. BLM is
trying to do exactly that, and it is not even being subtle about it.
1. "Black Lives Matter
Global Network’s Statement Regarding Michael Cohen’s Testimony," hosted at
blacklivesmatter.com, says in part,
"[W]e are reminded that the 2020 election is around the
corner. We can make our voices heard by voting this Administration
out of office."
2. "In Response to the
State of the Union" says in part,
"Like a Nazi trying to hide a neck tatoo [sic], Trump shows his true
colors whenever he shifts aimlessly from empty platitude to veiled threat."
3. Other pages on the BLM
website also criticize Trump, but these are not (my opinion) as blatant at
those cited above.
4. Here is a CNN video in which
BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors, who appears to be speaking on behalf of BLM
Global Networks rather than herself, says openly that the group intends to
campaign against Trump and therefore in favor of Biden, even if it doesn't
mention him. "[W]e are going to push for is a move to get Trump
out[.] ... Our goal is to get Trump out."
I
infer from this evidence (my opinion) the situation depicted in the figure
below. If this is in fact the situation, then BLM and its
associates, including its supporters in the extreme left wing of the Democratic
Party and also its corporate supporters, are looking at an imminent,
inevitable, and probably catastrophic public relations debacle.
ActBlue Charities' and Thousand Currents' Own Roles
While
there is no proof that ActBlue Charities and Thousand Currents know that BLM
Global Network was using its website, and therefore their support, to influence
the presidential election, they cannot deny knowledge of the material they have
hosted on their own websites. Thousand Currents appears to have
taken down, in the June time frame, pages that disparage Trump. The
most egregious is however still available here, and it
says, "If we stand opposed to this president and administration, it is
incumbent upon us to support and be in solidarity with struggles being led by
oppressed communities[.] ... This administration is a failure."
ActBlue
Charities — and I made sure I selected only pages that cite 501(c)(3)
tax-exempt status as opposed to ActBlue pages that say explicitly that
donations to the listed causes are not tax-deductible — has several pages that
look like problematic uses of tax-exempt money.
1. Bayley's Fundraising Page for Organizing
to Win: Building Racial Justice with White Poor and Working Class Communities,
cites 501(c)(3) status and begins, "If we’re going to successfully stop
Trump, fight global racial inequality ..."
2. Sponsor the #JewishResistance at AIPAC
says, "Those of us opposing Trump are the true majority in this
country." The bottom of the page cites ActBlue Charities and
tax-deductible status.
3. Ru's IfNotNow Fundraising Page says,
"Particularly living under Trump’s presidency, the connection between an
unquestioning support for Israel (without a genuine regard for the real
interests of Jews) and white supremacist values has become crystal clear to the
public."
These
are but three of many examples, and you can find more yourself with a Google
search on site:ActBlue.com and "Trump." Be sure, however,
to pay attention to only the pages that say "ActBlue Charities" and
cite 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status at the bottom. ActBlue also has a
non-tax-exempt arm that has far more leeway as to what it can do to influence
an election.
Widespread
publicity for these issues should collapse the Democrat left's center of gravity to deliver
an electoral landslide in
November. "Woke" virtue-signaling corporations that have
supported BLM Global Network will scramble desperately to pretend that they
never heard of it.

The police-hating
rhetoric of the
openly and proudly Marxist "Black Lives Matter" (BLM)
movement is doing exactly what it did five years ago – creating a massive
increase in violent crime and homicide throughout urban America. You may recall that back
in 2015-16, BLM's anti-police protests and riots – particularly in the
aftermath of the 2014 police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri –
intimidated officers nationwide into becoming much less proactive in dealing
with criminal suspects. A Pew Research Center report titled
“Behind the Badge” – which tabulated the results of a questionnaire that was
sent to thousands of officers – confirmed that 85 to 95 percent of
law-enforcement officers in large police departments became highly reluctant to
engage criminals except where absolutely necessary.
The consequences of the new timidity of law-enforcement were monumental:
The consequences of the new timidity of law-enforcement were monumental:
·
In 2015,
America’s 56 largest cities experienced a
17% rise in homicides.
·
Twelve cities
with large black populations saw their murder totals spike even
more dramatically – e.g., by 54% in D.C., 60% in Newark, 72% in Milwaukee, 83%
in Nashville, and 90% in Cleveland.
·
Robberies surged in
America's 81 largest cities during the 12 months that followed the shooting of
Michael Brown.
·
During the first quarter of 2016, homicides in America's 63
largest cities increased by 9%, while nonfatal shootings were up 21%.
And today, as a result of
the anti-police riots and denunciations that have swept the country since the
May 25 death of George Floyd in Minneapolis – eruptions led in large measure by
the Marxists and anarchists of BLM – we are already seeing the same trends all
over again.
Consider, for instance, the case of Chicago:
·
On Sunday, May 31, eighteen homicides were
committed in Chicago, breaking the city's previous one-day record of thirteen,
set 29 years ago. In fact, over the course of that same weekend as a whole,
Chicago police responded to at least 73 incidents in which 92 people were shot,
including 27 who died as a result. “We’ve never seen anything like it at all,” said Max
Kapustin, the senior research director at the University of Chicago Crime Lab.
“I don’t even know how to put it into context. It’s beyond anything that we’ve
ever seen before.”
·
From Friday evening through Saturday afternoon, June
5-6, at least 23 people were wounded in various shootings across
Chicago.
·
During the weekend of June 12-14, no fewer than 34 Chicagoans were wounded in
shootings citywide.
·
During Father's Day weekend, June 19-21, Chicago saw more than 100
people shot in
an astonishing wave of gunfire, 14 of them fatally.
·
During the last weekend of June, 63 people were shot in
Chicago, 16 of them fatally.
New York City has likewise been turned into a leftist hell hole by BLM hatred:
·
In a 28-day period from mid-May through mid-June, the incidence of
murder, burglary and grand larceny auto crimes in New York spiked dramatically
when compared to the same period last year. Particularly alarming was the
homicide count – 38 murders in 28 days – a total twice as high as the
corresponding figure from 2019.
·
From June 16-22, the number of shootings in
New York City increased by some 358 percent compared with the same time frame
in 2019 – from 12 shootings last year, to 55 this year. In those 55 most recent
shooting incidents, a total of 74 people were wounded.
·
From June 19-27, more than 110 people in New York City were
wounded or killed in 83 separate shootings.
·
In a 12-hour period during
the weekend of June 27-28, eleven people were shot and wounded citywide. This
spree of gunfire brought the number of shootings over the most recent seven-day
period in New York to 59 – a figure that dwarfed the 26 shootings which had
occurred during the same time frame in 2019.
The NYPD's Chief of
Department, Terence Monahan, blames these
horrific trends largely on the fact that “the animosity towards police has been
absolutely unbelievable.” “The violence, the shootings are up,” he says. “We
haven’t seen this many [during a comparable time period] since 1996.”
The animosity cited by Monahan was on full display in the wee morning hours this past Sunday, when a mob of young people spent several hours hurling bottles and epithets at NYPD officers who tried to break up their massive street party following reports of gunfire at the gathering. The attendees defiantly and repeatedly demanded that the officers “Get the f–k out of here!” Others taunted the cops by launching aerial fireworks from atop a van, and by dancing lewdly in front of an NYPD vehicle. In a subsequent interview with reporters, one young black man summed up his attitude toward the police thusly: “The black people wanted the cops to know that this is our neighborhood and you’re not going to intimidate us.” Meanwhile, a dispirited police officer described the situation as “complete lawlessness.”
And because the administration of Mayor Bill de Blasio has been highly sympathetic to the protesters and rioters – as evidenced by the enactment of a $1 billion cut to the NYPD budget – New York City officers have decided that it's time to get out while they can. During the 30-day period from May 25 through June 24, no fewer than 272 uniformed cops announced that they were retiring – a 49 percent increase over the 183 officers who filed for retirement during the same period last year.
The atmosphere in Milwaukee, nearly 900 miles west of New York, has grown equally grim. According to Milwaukee Inspector Leslie Thiele: “Our homicides are way up. We haven't seen these numbers since 1991. We have 86 homicides this year, compared to 37 to this point last year – so we have a 132% increase. Thiele's fellow Milwaukee Inspector Terrence Gordon says: “Morale [among police] is terrible. But people don't have low morale because of something the chief did, it's because they're afraid that nobody in this community is going to stand up for them. In 25 years, I've never seen it like this. I never thought that I'd see the day where a Milwaukee police officer would withdraw from the community they swore to serve. But I can see it beginning to happen right now, and it's just terrible, because on the other side of all these crimes are victims.”

The hearts of police officers have likewise been torn asunder in Washington, D.C., as evidenced by the fact that in a recent press release, the city's Metropolitan Police Union said that 71% of the members it surveyed are considering leaving the department. Of those, nearly 40% are planning to leave law enforcement entirely.
In St. Louis during the weekend of June 6-7, no fewer than 21 people were shot, 6 of them fatally. During the first week of June, homicides in Los Angeles were up 250% compared to the previous week, while the total number of gunshot victims was up 56%. In Baltimore during the month of June as a whole, the incidence of homicide increased by 29% over the corresponding rates for April and May.
By embracing the hateful, destructive, anarchic message of Black Lives Matter and its openly Marxist leaders, urban America has willfully signed its own death warrant. Cities from coast to coast are now in the process of dying. Their respective tax bases are already fleeing – quite understandably and smartly – to safer environs, just like so many of their predecessors did after the riots of the Sixties. Why on earth would anyone want to invest his or her labor and capital in a business or a home that could be wiped out in a matter of minutes, whenever the next pack of raging vandals may feel a righteous impulse to lay waste to everything in its path? Any such an investment would be a very poor life decision.
Thus, such investments are now a thing of the past. For instance, the Minneapolis manufacturing company 7-Sigma Inc., which was heavily damaged during the George Floyd riots, has decided to move, as quickly as possible, out of the city where it has been headquartered for the past 33 years. Other local businesses say they fully intend to follow suit. So, goodbye Minneapolis.
And so long, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Louisville, Memphis, New York, Oakland, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, and Seattle.
The most enduring hallmarks of the cities that have been ravaged by the riots of recent weeks will be large tracts of ghost neighborhoods where abandoned homes and businesses stand, silently and pathetically, like the dilapidated ruins of dead civilizations. The raging Marxists of BLM have sown the wind, and now the whirlwind is theirs to reap. It is happening already.
Statue of Frederick Douglass Torn Down in Rochester

A statue of abolitionist legend Frederick Douglass was torn down overnight over the Fourth of July holiday in Rochester, New York, local media reported.
Frederick Douglass statue removed at Rochester park https://t.co/NZgPq1RNgm— FOX2now (@FOX2now) July 5, 2020
WXXI News reported:
Rochester Police are investigating damage done to a statue of Frederick Douglass in Maplewood Park. It happened over the weekend, and police say that the statue was torn off its base, and left about 50 feet from its pedestal. The statue had been placed over the fence to Genesee River gorge and was leaning against the fence.…Police say in addition to the damage at the bottom of the statue, one of the fingers on the left hand of the statue was damaged. Aside from that damage, there was no graffiti on the statue or in the surrounding park. The statue has been removed for repairs.
WXXI adds that the statue was “one of 13 Douglass statues that were placed around Rochester in 2018 in honor of his 200th birthday.”
In 2018, one of the statues was vandalized by two teenagers, who said they were drunk when they did it and had no political motive, though one eyewitness disagreed.
Frederick Douglass was born into slavery and escaped to the North. He was a passionate abolitionist, at home and abroad, and befriended President Abraham Lincoln.
In recent years, Black Lives Matter activists have been fond of quoting a speech in which Douglass called the Fourth of July a “sham” because of slavery. However, in the remainder of the speech, Douglass praises America’s founding and its principles.
No motive has yet been reported in the removal of the statue. Rochester Police were not available for comment.

Watch: Pro-Palestinian BLM Rallies in U.S. Call for ‘Death to Israel, Death to America’
3:38
At pro-Palestinian Black Lives Matter rallies in New York and Washington, chants were heard calling for “Death to Israel,” “Death to America” and “From Gaza to Minnesota, globalize the Intifada!”
Several hundred protesters attended the July 1 demonstration in Brooklyn dubbed as a “Day of Rage” event, set to coincide with the earliest date Israel could begin its plans to apply Israeli law over parts of the West Bank and the Jordan Valley.
Speakers issued inflammatory rallying cries that ran the gamut from anti-Semitic and anti-American to just plain absurd. One pro-North Korea activist called for the end of the United States of America and its “puppet governments,” the liberation of “Palestine,” and for Korea to “be one again.”
There were multiple attempts to connect the pro-Palestinian cause with Black Lives Matter.
Dequi Kioni Sadiki, the wife of former Black Panther Sekou Odinga, said: “The European Jews who occupy, slaughter and continue to force millions of Palestinians onto their killing fields called refugee and concentration camps, are the relatives of the Europeans… who kidnapped, slaughtered and forced millions of Africans and indigenous” into slavery.
Calls to “abolish the police” were joined with calls to eliminate “the Zionistic state of Israel.”

Speakers and organizers made it clear they were not interested in Israel arriving at a peace agreement with the Palestinians. Instead, they said the Palestinians deserve the entire land.
“The land that Israel exists on is still stolen. The 1948 lands are still stolen — Jaffa, Haifa, Tel Aviv… was stolen. We don’t want to go just back to our homes in Gaza and the West Bank. We Want all of it,” activist Nerdeen Kiswani, one of the organizers, said.
“We don’t want a fake Palestinian state that they give us while Israel still exists,” Kiswani added.
Chants of “Fuck your two states!” were later heard.
One speaker, known as Rob from the Party for Socialism and Liberation, led an Arabic-language chant shouting “Death to America!” “Death to Israel!”

Meanwhile, protesters at a separate“Day of Rage” march in Washington, DC, were heard chanting “Israel, we know you, you murder children, too.”
One of the march’s organizers, Harvard student Christian Tabash, read a poem about Israel’s alleged crimes against Palestinian Muslims according to the Washington Examiner. The poem, called Mr. War — an apparent reference to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — included the line “Curse thee, the corrupters of Zion. Fuck this occupation!” and referred to Israel as “puppet master of continents,” paying homage to the anti-Semitic trope that Jews control the world.
Tabash also paused several times during the march to remind protesters that the Palestinian movement is “intrinsically tied to Black Lives Matter,” the report said.
The Republican Jewish Coalition published a statement responding to the march saying it was “horrified by this vicious hatemongering by Black Lives Matter protesters.”
“The Black Lives Matter charter is filled with anti-Israel and anti-Semitic lies. It is deeply disturbing, but not surprising, to hear those sentiments chanted in the streets of Washington, DC,” the statement said.
The RJC further called Democratic hopeful Joe Biden, “as the standard bearer of the Democrat Party, to condemn these anti-Semitic chants by BLM protesters.”
