Exclusive: Biden Admin Restricts Senior DHS Officials from Sharing Border Crisis Info with Reporters
A senior-level law enforcement source in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told Breitbart Texas they received verbal orders from within the agency limiting their ability to speak freely about the growing crisis along the border.
The official with knowledge of the restrictions spoke under the condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak on the matter. “The situation with media relations now is night and day compared to the last administration, The official said. “We have been advised not to speak on immigration issues at the border and to rely on DHS’s Office of Public Affairs and the Whitehouse Press Office to handle messaging.”
The verbal order applies to senior law enforcement leaders within DHS and has no formal expiration date. It comes as the administration is struggling to manage the growing crisis caused by changes in border security and immigration policies leading to a spike in illegal crossings at the border.
As local communities along the border continue to grapple with the release of migrants into their communities, the administration is facing criticism even amongst their own ranks, Breitbart reported.
U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar (D-TX) said in a recent interview on the Fox News Channel, “I can tell you this, those numbers of people that are being released, they’re purposely withholding that information.”
“I now know that they’re bringing people from McAllen over to Laredo, processing them in Laredo, and they’re going to release them in my community,” the Laredo congressman said. “I’ve seen this before, don’t let the local communities know what you’re doing, where they’re starting to bring people in from the valley, process them in Laredo, release them at a bus station. And, again, I’ve seen this before in the past.”
The verbal order delivered through DHS channels is designed to prevent senior leaders from shedding light on the immigration situation that currently plagues the administration. On Saturday, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Biden’s director of the Domestic Policy Council, Susan Rice, visited several Texas cities to see the situation along the border first hand.
Members of the press were not allowed to be present during the delegation’s visit to Border Patrol stations and a Health and a Human Services unaccompanied children’s detention facility.
According to the source familiar with the media restrictions, the DHS Secretary’s delegation prohibited media presence simply to prevent the imagery of overcrowded facilities from circulating.

REPORT: Biden Admin Flying 270 Migrants from South Texas to El Paso
The Biden Administration is flying migrants from packed Border Patrol facilities in the Rio Grande Valley Sector to El Paso, according to U.S. Representative Veronica Escobar (D-TX). Two flights carrying 270 migrants in total are expected to make the journey on Monday, a local charity group said.
Congresswoman Escobar noted that the migrants are being tested for COVID-19 and will be quarantined when they test positive, KVIA reported. She did not indicate if they are being tested before or after they are flown to El Paso.
The El Paso representative said she has been in close contact with the Department of Homeland Security “to ensure the safety of the El Paso community and the refugees.”
Annunciation House’s Ruben Garcia stated they expect two flights on Monday carrying 135 migrants on each flight.
“They are overwhelmingly family units and there is a preponderance of families from the Northern Triangle of Central America: Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala,” Garcia told the local ABC affiliate.
Garcia said the migrants will be processed in El Paso and released to Annunciation House while they await travel arrangements. He said he expects they will be transported to their destinations across the U.S. after a couple of days. He added that they will only accept COVID-negative migrants at his shelter.
The City of El Paso Office of Emergency Management will house any COVID-19 infected migrants at a hotel.
Breitbart Texas reached out to the Department of Homeland Security for confirmation and additional information regarding the migrants flights. A response to the questions has not been received as of press time.

AP’s Pace: Biden Has No Border Plan — Migrants Think They Have An Open Invitation
Associated Press Washington Bureau chief Julie Pace argued on this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday” that President Joe Biden did not have a plan for the surge underway on the U.S.-Mexico border.
Based on that, Pace said migrants think they have an open invitation.
Anchor Chris Wallace said, “The Department of Homeland Security put out a report this week, it wasn’t put out to the public, but it was leaked that they are now projecting 117,000 unaccompanied minors that are going to cross the border this year. Way over what we thought was a very serious surge in 2019. Is that sustainable for the Biden White House to say, well, it’s not a crisis, it’s a challenge, we are managing it, and more importantly, do they really have a plan to get this under control?”
Pace said, “They don’t have a plan at the moment to get this under control. We do have the White House is dispatching some officials to the border to try to see the situation firsthand. Right now, they’re caught in this situation where they are saying that the policy steps we’ve seen Biden take on migration essentially rolling back a lot of the Trump administration’s deterrence policies should not be read by migrants as an open invitation. Do not mass at the border. This does not mean you can get across easily, but for all of their talk about that, all the messaging on that, that is not the message that is actually being received by migrants.”
“So you do have this situation where people are increasingly coming to the border, families with young children do feel like this is a moment where they can get into the United States,” she continued. “They feel like that’s going to be a more receptive policy from the Biden administration. So this is the challenge that the White House has. If they don’t think that their policy actually is an open invitation, then they have to signal that more clearly because that is obviously not the way it is being interpreted at the moment.”

125 Migrants Apprehended by Mounted Border Patrol Agents 50 Miles into Texas
Laredo Sector Horse Patrol Unit agents apprehended 125 migrants in a 12-hour period last week. The arrests come amid a growing border crisis where large numbers of migrants are crossing in hopes of being released into the U.S. interior under Biden Administration policies.
Laredo Sector Horse Patrol Unit (HPU) agents assigned to the Hebbronville Station apprehended 60 migrants during the 12-hour period last week. During one incident an unmanned aerial system operator helped guide the HPU agents to a group of 17 migrants, according to information provided by Laredo Sector officials. In another incident, the HPU agents assisted other agents in the apprehension of eight migrants on a freight train.
Elsewhere in the sector, Laredo South Station HPU agents teamed up with agents on ATVs and apprehended multiple migrants on a ranch near the Rio Grande. The agents arrested 57 migrants. They also arrested a U.S. citizen juvenile working as a bush guide for the smuggled migrants. Agents turned the juvenile over to Laredo Police Department officers.
HPU agents also assisted agents assigned to the Laredo West and Cotulla Stations, officials stated. In these operations, eight additional migrants were apprehended.
Officials said the HPU is composed of 29 adopted Mustang horses. The sector acquired the Mustangs from the Bureau of Land Management’s Wild Horse and Burro Program. Officials with the Colorado Correctional Industries Wild Horse Inmate Program provided training for the horses.
Laredo Sector officials re-instituted the HPU program in November 2009, officials stated. The previous mounted patrol program ended in 1991.
“The outstanding work by our Horse Patrol Unit illustrates why their mounted operations continue to be an important tool in our border security operations,” Laredo Sector Chief Patrol Agent Matthew Hudak said in a written statement. “Even with today’s technology, a Border Patrol agent on a horse remains an effective way to patrol remote areas of our border.”

NBC’s Alcindor: Biden Admin Says No Crisis At the Border — ‘But the Numbers Don’t Lie’
PBS correspondent and NBC political contributor Yamiche Alcindor said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that while the Biden administration does not want to say there is a crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border, the numbers of people crossing “don’t lie.”
Anchor Chuck Todd said, “Yamiche, the politics of immigration have never gone well for Democrats recently. Are they ready for this?”
Alcindor said, “Only time will tell if Democrats are ready for this. You have a White House that is wanting to say there’s not a crisis at the border, but the numbers don’t lie. You have a number of unaccompanied minors coming to the border that are being held in facilities that even progressive Democrats are pointing to, saying that’s what we call human, then there’s a problem there. You also have a Democratic conference that has been really stuck on the issue of immigration.”
“Time and time again, they’ve tried to do this,” she continued. “This big bill sitting in the Senate, sitting in Congress. It seems as though it’s going to have to be broken up. There’s a lot of different unanswered questions on this. There’s a big problem at the border continuing to brew. This White House is going to have to contend with that.”

JOE BIDEN: HERE'S TO OUR ILLEGALS AND CRONEY DONORS
GOP: Senate-Passed Relief Bill Holds ‘Host of Non-COVID-Related Left-Wing Policies’
GOP senators, who voted against the Democrat-led Senate’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief measure on Saturday, sharply criticized the partisan measure upon its passing, emphasizing that it is filled with a “host of non-COVID-related left-wing policies.”
The Senate passed the measure 50-49 on Saturday along party lines. Republican Rep. Dan Sullivan (R-AK) was not present for the vote as he had to travel home for a family emergency.
While Senate Democrats celebrated the measure’s passage — Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) described it as “the most significant piece of legislation to benefit working families in the modern history of this country” — Republicans warned that the bill contains a trove of left-wing pursuits unrelated to the Chinese coronavirus. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) highlighted similar concerns last week, noting that less than nine percent of the House bill went toward measures related to public health.
“I voted against this bill today because it could further wreck the economy and ignite inflation. This legislation includes a host of non-COVID-related left-wing policies,” Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL) said in a statement, noting that “nine percent of the funding in the bill goes toward the immediate fight against COVID and one percent toward vaccines.”
The bill, he added, includes what he described as a “massive cash bailout for some mismanaged states and local governments.”
“Democrats are forcing a liberal wish list of pet projects through Congress that’s masked as a pandemic rescue package,” he added.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) also highlighted the bill’s shortfalls and, like his Republican colleagues, explained that just nine percent of the measure goes toward measures related to the pandemic.
“Instead of working in a bipartisan manner to open our schools, bring back small businesses, and help struggling Americans get back on their feet, Democrats chose to pander to their radical liberal base with partisan handouts,” the Texas senator said in a statement.
“This bill is stuffed with pork, with only nine percent of the almost $2 trillion going toward actual and urgent COVID relief,” he continued, emphasizing that the Democrat measure “shockingly provides COVID relief checks to illegal aliens and criminals behind bars.”
“I proposed two amendments to close these loopholes. Democrats voted in lockstep to ensure illegal aliens and prison inmates would still qualify for these rebates,” he said.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) also noted that Democrats voted to hand stimulus checks to criminals in prison.
“They haven’t lost their jobs, they aren’t worried about paying rent or buying groceries. Another example of the unrelated spending in the Democrats’ partisan slush fund,” he remarked.
Republican Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) said Democrats effectively “took advantage” of the pandemic and poisoned the relief bill with unrelated spending measures that they have been in pursuit of for years.
“Many of my Democratic colleagues refer to this as a recovery package, but unlike the previous five COVID relief bills, this bill risks actually preventing our economy from recovering, which it is already showing signs of doing,” she said in a statement.
“This partisan bill attempts to fix problems that don’t exist, hamstring growth that has already begun, rewards bad decisions by elected officials, and opens the floodgates for unchartered levels of federal spending,” Capito added.
Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) described the bill as a “behemoth” stuffed with programs that “have nothing to do with the targeted, temporary relief the people of Wyoming need to weather the rest of this pandemic” and blasted Democrats for taking a partisan approach in this relief measure.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) released a statement following the bill’s passage, providing a list of some of the unrelated items embraced by Democrats in the “spending spree” bill. The NRSC’s list included:
- Killing 1.4 million jobs during a pandemic
- $50 million for “Environmental justice grants”
- $1 billion for “racial justice” provisions for farmers
- $1.7 billion for Amtrak
- $175 million for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting
- $135 million for the National Endowment for the Arts
- Blocking accountability for Cuomo’s nursing home coverup
- Refusing to get students back into classrooms
- Bailing out failed Governors Andrew Cuomo and Gavin Newsom
- Killing American energy jobs
- Rejecting common-sense pension reforms
- Using tax dollars to fund abortions and Planned Parenthood
- Funding Sanctuary Cities who refuse to enforce immigration laws
- Destroying women’s sports by allowing biological men to compete
- Giving a paycheck to Senators who don’t do their jobs, such as passing a budget
- Sending taxpayer-funded checks to illegal immigrants and prisoners
“It’s clear. The American people called for targeted relief, but Senate Democrats delivered their far left, radical wish list instead,” the NRSC said.
