EXCLUSIVE: Feds Investigate Potential Gunfire Directed at National Guard in Texas Border Town
EAGLE PASS, Texas — A U.S. Customs and Border Protection source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, advises that Army National Guardsmen potentially came under fire Wednesday at their post overlooking the Rio Grande north of Eagle Pass, Texas.
The troops initially reported that bullets may have struck their elevated watch tower and rounds were heard whizzing by their location. They did not return fire.
The incident was quickly investigated by Border Patrol, Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers, and local law enforcement.
Seven migrants were apprehended in the vicinity and separately confirmed hearing the gunfire. The seven reported seeing a person running along the river and quickly left the area after the shots were heard.
Further investigation reveals the rounds did not strike the elevated guard tower. The suspected runaway was not apprehended and remains at large. The incident is still under investigation.
Recently, several Texas counties signed emergency declarations regarding the migrant surge. Eagle Pass is the seat of Maverick County. On April 21, Maverick County Judge David Saucedo signed a similar declaration, requesting that military forces be deployed to bring the situation under control.
In part, the Maverick County declaration reads:
WHEREAS, the health, life, and property of the residents of Maverick County is under imminent threat of disaster from the human trafficking occurring on our border with Mexico. The ongoing border crisis has resulted in thousands of illegal persons entering Maverick County and overwhelming our local, state, and federal law enforcement. This continual illegal border crossings of individuals into Maverick County has resulted in residents of Maverick County encountering situations that causes harm to property and themselves.
A request for information from Customs and Border Protection and the Texas Department of Public Safety remains unanswered as of press time.

Gov. Greg Abbott: Texas Will Secure the Border, and the Biden Administration Will Pay for It’
(CNSNews.com) – Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Thursday that he has deployed 1,000 Department of Public Safety troops and the National Guard to the southern border to secure it from illegal aliens coming across.
During an appearance on Fox News’s “Red State Trailblazers” town hall event in Orlando, Fla., which featured a host of Republican governors, host Laura Ingraham asked Abbott what his message is to the Biden administration about the number of COVID-positive migrants being released into communities.
“So the COVID-released migrants is one challenge but I gotta tell you this. The Biden first 100 days has been very successful for the cartels, for the drug smugglers, for the human traffickers who are profiteering off of all the migrants who come across the border illegally,” Abbott said.
“Because so many migrants are coming across the border illegally, what it means is that the Border Patrol officers are fully occupying processing all of these migrants, and that leaves open miles of border that the cartels can come across. That's why I launched what is called Operation Lone Star,” he said.
“We have deployed 1,000 department of public safety troops as well as National Guard to our border to secure our border from the people coming across. So here's what we want to do. The deal I want to cut is, Texas will secure the border, and the Biden administration will pay for it,” the governor said.
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds has said she will not take migrant children that the federal government tries to place in her state, Ingraham pointed out.
“You're getting pushback from the usual groups on that. Republicans are heartless. They don't care about the kids. They don't care about the needs of the greater country. Your response,” Ingraham asked Reynolds.
“I push back and say this administration is heartless. They created this crisis at the border. They are putting the children at risk by the policies that they’ve eliminated that we know were working. I'm the governor of Iowa and my number one responsibility is to protect the health and safety Iowans, and it would be irresponsible for me not to be at the forefront of every decision I make,” Reynolds said.
THEY HAVE NO FUCKIG IDEA HOW MANY OF JOE'S INVADERS GET THROUGH!!! IT'S JUST NOT ENOUGH THOUGH!
Analysis projects federal immigration officials could encounter 1.2 million illegal aliens at the southern border this year. Likely hundreds of thousands more could successfully enter the U.S., undetected by agents.
Survey: More Than 6-in-10 Republican Voters Oppose Anchor Baby Policy
More than 6-in-10 Republican voters oppose providing birthright American citizenship to the United States-born children of illegal aliens, a new survey finds.
The survey, released by the pro-migration libertarian Cato Institute, finds that about 61 percent of Republican voters said they do not support current U.S. policy that provides birthright American citizenship to the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens, often referred to as “anchor babies.”
Fewer than 4-in-10 Republicans said they support birthright citizenship.
Even more, 65 percent, who voted for former President Trump said they oppose birthright citizenship while only 35 percent said they support the policy. Those who consider themselves “conservative” and “very conservative” oppose birthright citizenship by about 61-t0-63 percent.
Among swing voters, the issue is largely split. While 53 percent of swing voters said they support birthright citizenship, another 47 percent said they oppose the policy.
The survey reveals that opposition to birthright citizenship is a mostly mainstream position among Republicans, conservatives, and Trump supporters.
Population estimates released in February showed that the U.S. is now home to nearly five million anchor babies whose parents are either illegal aliens or foreign nationals with little-to-no ties to the U.S.
Analysis by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) finds that, on average, roughly 300,000 anchor babies are born to illegal aliens every year and about 72,000 anchor babies are born to foreign tourists, foreign visa workers, and foreign students every year.
All of these U.S.-born children, and their parents, benefit immensely from the nation’s birthright citizenship policy that guarantees American citizenship to anyone, regardless of their ties to the country, born within the parameters of the U.S.
For years, former President Trump had said he was readying a plan to end birthright citizenship with an executive order that likely would have been challenged by open borders organizations, forcing the issue potentially up to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Trump, though, did not sign any such order while in office.
To date, the U.S. Supreme Court has never explicitly ruled that the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens must be granted automatic American citizenship, and a number of legal scholars dispute the idea.
Many leading conservative scholars argue the Citizenship Clause of the 14th Amendment does not provide mandatory birthright citizenship to the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens or noncitizens, as these children were not subject to U.S. jurisdiction as that language was understood when the 14th Amendment was ratified.
Today’s anchor baby population exceeds the annual number of U.S. births by more than a million. Research from 2018 finds that the U.S. births of illegal aliens costs American taxpayers about $2.4 billion every year.
