The real Joe Biden stands up – again
Our current situation, threatening as it is to all we hold dear as Americans, is not in any way comfortable. That said, it offers benefits. One of them is this: People are revealing themselves for who they are. Gone are the days of obfuscation, moderation, and triangulation. If you’re running for my school board, for example, I want to know where you stand on critical race theory. In other words, whether you’re out to destroy my children. Leave that off your Candidate’s Position Statement, and the rest of it isn’t helpful.
The Office Holder Formerly Known as Joe Biden told anyone still harboring doubts all they needed to know about him in half an hour Wednesday.
He addressed the graduates of the Coast Guard Academy, an elite group of 200, chosen from over 3000 who apply. For four years, they study science, warfare, and how to sail a tall ship. Thirty-five percent are women. I wager all are indeed the “fierce patriots” Biden called them in his speech.
They listened politely as Biden did four things in rapid succession that revealed his character and fitness to lead. Spoiler alert: he can claim neither.
He could not recall the name of the Coast Guard Commander. No doubt teleprompters were in place, as usual, and perhaps an earpiece, too, but it was beyond him. He turned away from the microphone for help, then uttered a few garbled syllables. This comes as no surprise to anyone who has observed his remarkable cognitive decline.
He borrowed without accreditation a longstanding quote about the Coast Guard; namely, that it is “the hard nucleus around which the Navy forms in time of war.” Doing so was a bad idea for a politician known for shameless plagiarism. Ronald Reagan and Dick Cheney both used the quote in speeches, with greater care about its source.
Unlike them, Biden bungled the quote. His truncated rendition made little sense. Did he even grasp its meaning? Like Ron Burgundy, he reads whatever is on the teleprompter, but a missing word or two ruins the punchline, as any comedian will tell you.
Done correctly, the old jab at the Navy, a far larger branch of the service, is very much an inside joke, one that is mildly funny to an audience of Coast Guard Ensigns, if even to them. Biden’s misread version made no sense. It got no laughs and no applause.
And that is when the real Joe Biden stood up. Like a bombing third-rate comic, he heckled the audience. “You’re a really dull class,” he began. “C’mon, man. Is the sun getting to you?”
Defenders will claim he was kidding. He wasn’t. As professional joke-teller Ellen DeGeneres once put it, “If you were, we’d both be laughing.” New Englanders of a previous generation have a term for it: “Half in jest, all in earnest.” His mean streak was showing.
Leftists like Biden desperately want to be liked, despite their contempt for half their fellow citizens. They can hardly believe we don’t all fawn over them as the sycophants in their entourages and the toadies in the media do.
In this respect, they lack the unvarnished honesty of tyrants like Stalin, who knew they were hated and feared, and enjoyed it. It was the price of the power they prized above all else.
To the extent that his thoughts are still his own, Joe Biden despises the values of every “fierce patriot” in his Coast Guard commencement audience and the values of the families who raised them to serve their nation. Nonetheless, he can’t seem to figure out why they wouldn’t want to pose for a picture with him.
Like the vampires of legend, today’s Left can’t stand the sight of a mirror. We know who they are, and how they feel about us. They would rather not be reminded.

Biden to Coast Guard Grads: 'You're a Really Dull Class. I Mean, Come On, Man. Is the Sun Getting to You?'
(CNSNews.com) - President Joe Biden addressed graduates of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut on Wednesday, beginning his speech with lots of joking references to life at the academy -- jokes intended to warm up his audience.
But it appears the effort fell rather flat. Several times, Biden told the graduates they could clap for his one-liners, some of which he fumbled.
And at one point, after Biden misquoted a basic Coast Guard tenet, he told the graduates, "You are a quiet -- you're a really dull class. I mean, come on, man. Is the sun getting to you? I would think you'd have an opportunity when I say that about the Navy to clap, but -- but being here together -- but all kidding aside, being here together is a victory in and of itself...”
Biden made the "dull class" comment after misquoting the "basic response" cadets are required to give when asked, "What is the Coast Guard?"
The answer: "The hard nucleus about which the Navy forms in times of war."
But Biden fumbled the quote, saying, "I can only assume that you will enjoy educating your family about how the Coast Guard is, quote, "The hard nucleus around the Navy forms in times of war."
Here is a transcript of that portion of Biden's speech to graduates:
But I hope today you take the time to reflect on how much all of the hard work and extra -- extra effort you engaged in was worth. And I hope that you take immense pride -- immense pride in all that time at the Academy and all the Academy has given to you.
Because you've achieved something few others can claim: You survived R-Day and Billet Night. You made it through Swab Summer. You got a haircut that showed every damn bump on your head. You learned to square the corners and square your medals -- look, your meals, I should say.
And you memorized -- and this the part I found would have been hard -- memorized Running Lightning [he meant "Running Light," the Coast Guard handbook]. I'm going to ask you all to stand up and repeat it. No, I'm only kidding.
You earned your shoulder boards and your aiguillettes. You passed through 100th week, and maybe spent a little too much time at the Slice. You can clap. Come on, man! You're moving on. Show a little courage.
And then, like all the students across the country, you had to figure out what it meant to finish your second-year class [he meant "second-class year"] in virtual ins- -- with virtual instruction.
The pandemic upended so much of our lives. As was mentioned several times so far, last year's graduating class didn't get to have this ceremony in-person. But the Coasties fashion that you all have -- you met the threat head on.
You adapted, showed your resilience, and you led. The class of '21, you were the ones to test and improve the restricted movements protocols that allowed you to return to class on campus. And with careful precautions and regular testing, you were able to go back to your lives and training here in New London, to conduct your first-year class [he meant “first-class year”] in person.
It certainly looked and felt different, I'm sure. But you found ways -- you found ways to keep many of the Academy's traditions alive, and maybe even formed a few new ones. You still were able to bring your cars on campus; you just weren't allowed to go anywhere in those cars.
Man, I tell you what, I'd have trouble watching my car sit there. But maybe dipping your ring in Crown Park or having your Ring Dance outside will be a new standard. The Super Bowl of Inter-Company sports may become an annual event.
And by the way, congratulations to Bravo Company, by the way, for -- on your victory. You can clap. It's okay. Even if you lost, you got to clap.
And though everything you found -- through it all, you found ways to excel in the classroom and athletics. You've got nine All-Americans in your ranks today, including a record-setter in the track and field 5,000 meters.
And most importantly -- most importantly, you had each other's backs. When times got hard, you were there for one another. That's something you all learn quickly at the Academy. You can't crew the Tall Ship Eagle without working together; it's not possible. So, the pandemic didn't change that, but it made it more important.
I know we wish more of your loved ones could be here today to celebrate with you in person, packed into the stands for your big day, especially because so many of you come from families of proud traditions of service.
First Class Rachel Piche is about to become the third-generation Academy grad. Meanwhile, First Class Jacquelyn Tidd bucked a long tradition in her family and joined the Coast Guard over -- came to the Coast Guard Academy over the Naval Academy, unlike her mother, father, uncle, and grandfather.
Well, Cadet Tidd, there's a seat on Air Force One if you have to get home. It may be tough. I can only assume that you will enjoy educating your family about how the Coast Guard is, quote, "The hard nucleus around the Navy forms in times of war."
You are a quiet -- you're a really dull class. I mean, come on, man. Is the sun getting to you? I would think you'd have an opportunity when I say that about the Navy to clap, but -- but being here together --
But all kidding aside, being here together is a victory in and of itself. An important marker in the progress we've made to turn the tide of this pandemic. It's a testament to the skill and military discipline and sense of responsibility you already embody. So there is no doubt in my mind that the 140th graduating class of the United States Coast Guard Academy will reflect -- will reflect the very best of our country in the proudest tasitions ["traditions"] of our service...
Biden, in keeping with tradition, then "absolved" the cadets for "minor infractions," joking about how much he would have enjoyed "absolution" at his own graduation from the University of Delaware for "minor infractions like using a fire extinguisher to hose down an RA, but other than that, nothing much."
Then the president launched into his familiar speech: "The world is changing. We're at a significant inflection point in world history...."

WATCH: Joe Biden Hits Golf Ball in the Wrong Direction
American presidents are well known for playing golf, but as the video shows, Joe Biden did not do the White House any favors with his sad excuse for a chip shot during a recent game.
Not only did Biden not get his ball up on the green, he actually hit the ball in the wrong direction and back out onto the fairway.

Going back all the way to the 27th President, William Howard Taft, our commanders in chief have been socking the little white ball around the links. Indeed, the only presidents since Taft did not play during their presidencies were Herbert Hoover, Harry Truman, and Jimmy Carter. FDR also did not play while in office because polio had disabled him many years before going to the White House. However, he was a golfer when he was in his 30s and was said to have loved the game.
Some presidents were better than others. It is said that Calvin “Silent Cal” Coolidge was a poor duffer and even abandoned his clubs at the White House when he left D.C. O the other hand, Eisenhower was an excellent and avid golfer. However, he often took criticism for golfing too much. Obama played more than nearly every other president on record and is a lefthander — which may seem fitting. Lyndon Johnson, Clinton, and Trump were often accused of playing a bit too loose with the rules. Still, with his single-digit handicap, Trump is probably one of the best golfers of all our past presidents.
As to Biden, some sources claim he has a six handicap, but almost no one in the world of golf believes the claim. According to All Square Golf, other reports estimate that Biden’s handicap is “a more modest 10.”
His first outing as president was so bad; it led him to joke with reporters that the “course record is still intact.”

By some reports, Biden is not very good. Back when he was still Ohio’s Governor, left-leaning Republican John Kasich even directly accused Biden of being a cheater and not living up to the six handicap billing. “Joe Biden told me that he’s a good golfer, and I can tell you that’s not true, as well as all the other things that he says,” Kasich said in 2012.

White House ‘Calls a Lid’ 1:48 p.m. Monday After Biden’s Extended Weekend Trip Home to Delaware
The White House on Monday called an early afternoon lid on President Joe Biden’s public activities after an extended weekend at home in Delaware.
The president ended his schedule of public events at 1:48 p.m. EST — after about four hours of work.
The president and first lady traveled to their home in Wilmington, Delaware, on Saturday evening with plans to return Sunday night. But they ultimately scrapped their plans after President Biden spent Sunday afternoon golfing.
The president returned to the White House from Delaware at roughly 9:30 a.m. EST on Monday for a scheduled 9:50 a.m. meeting with his advisers for the presidential daily briefing.
At about 1:30 p.m. the president delivered a roughly 20-minute speech on the ongoing fight against the coronavirus.
After his speech, the president told reporters he would have a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu within the hour and even suggested he would update the press afterward.
But his staff called it day for Biden’s public appearances, despite multiple crises facing his administration.
The conflict between Israel and Palestine continues, as well as economic difficulties at home in the United States, such as high gas prices, high unemployment, and a rise in inflation.
Staff calling a “lid” does not mean the president is no longer working for the rest of the day, but it does send the message he will no longer publicly speak to the American people or address their concerns with the press.
Biden was repeatedly mocked by former President Donald Trump during the 2020 presidential campaign for calling early afternoon “lids,” as proof of his low-energy campaign style.
But Biden’s advisers appear comfortable with continuing his light public schedule, even though he is now in the White House.
President Biden has only held one press conference since he was inaugurated in January.
Joe Biden Botches Quote from Communist Dictator Mao Zedong During Coast Guard Commencement Speech
President Joe Biden mangled a quote from Chinese Communist dictator Mao Zedong during his Coast Guard commencement speech Wednesday.
“There’s a saying, used in a different context, a Chinese saying that says, ‘Women hold up half the world,’ Biden said during his commencement speech.
“It’s an absolute stupid position not to make sure they represent at least half of what we do,” he continued.
Biden, who turned 78 in November, was referring to a quote from Chairman Mao, the founder of the Chinese Communist Party, who said that “women hold up half the sky.” That saying was used to drive the women’s liberation movement in China.
Biden repeatedly quoted Mao during the 2020 campaign to explain his stance on women in the workforce.
“There’s an old expression attributed to the Chinese years ago. It said, ‘Women hold up half the sky.’ Guess what? The reason no country will be able to compete for world economic prominence unless they fully engage the women in their society.” Biden told a reporter in Arizona in October 2020.
Biden also used the quote in August 2020 to explain why he chose Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) to be his running mate. He also used the slogan during an August 2020 fundraiser, calling it an “old Chinese proverb.”
