Eric Holder Refused To Join Nonpartisan Gerrymandering Reform Effort
Holder said he supports 'nonpartisan commissions to draw electoral lines so neither party benefits'
Former attorney general Eric Holder has refused to work on bipartisan gerrymandering reform in Maryland, even though he runs an advocacy organization that calls for an end to partisan redistricting.
Maryland Republican governor Larry Hogan appointed a bipartisan redistricting commission in January to address his state's bizarrely shaped congressional districts, which he called the most gerrymandered in the nation. Hogan's office confirmed to the Washington Free Beacon that the governor has asked Holder to coordinate on bipartisan redistricting reform in recent years but that the former attorney general declined to help. Holder is the chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, a 501(c)(4) lobbying organization he founded with former president Barack Obama that opposes Republican redistricting efforts across the country.
The 2020 census released this week sparked a renewed debate over gerrymandering after Republican-controlled states gained seats in Congress. Hogan called out Obama's attorney general for failing to help Maryland redraw its districts. "Gerrymandering is wrong, no matter who does it," Hogan tweeted Friday at Holder. "Maryland has the worst gerrymandering in America. I've unilaterally relinquished my power to draw maps to the Maryland Citizens Redistricting Commission. Will you support this independent, non-partisan commission?"
Holder, who in 2019 wrote in a letter to the Wall Street Journal that he advocates for "citizens or nonpartisan commissions to draw electoral lines so neither party benefits," has remained silent on gerrymandering efforts from Democrats in states such as Maryland. He has, however, criticized similar efforts from Republicans in Texas and other states. The National Democratic Redistricting Committee pledge calls for an end to "map manipulation" and partisan districting. Holder, however, has ignored the explicitly political way in which Maryland has drawn maps. Democratic former governor Martin O'Malley, who presided over the gutting of the Sixth District, admitted that redistricting was fueled by partisan motives. "It was also my intent to create … a district where the people would be more likely to elect a Democrat than a Republican," O'Malley said in response to a 2013 lawsuit.
Maryland is home to some of the most gerrymandered districts in the nation, according to both Hogan and liberal experts. The liberal Brennan Center for Justice criticized Maryland's Sixth Congressional District, represented by Democrat David Trone, as one of the most extreme examples of partisan redistricting in the nation. "The Maryland Sixth is an example of a district that deserves close examination to ensure that district lines were not redrawn purely on the basis of partisan motives," the group wrote in 2019. A federal judge compared Maryland's Third Congressional District, which is represented by Democrat John Sarbanes and covers four counties and the city of Baltimore, to a "broken-winged pterodactyl, lying prostrate across the center of the state."
The National Democratic Redistricting Committee did not respond to a request for comment.
Swiss Billionaire Gave Millions to Eric Holder’s Partisan Gerrymandering Group
A liberal Swiss billionaire known for meddling in U.S. elections has funneled millions of dollars to former attorney general Eric Holder's effort to redraw electoral maps in favor of Democrats, newly obtained documents reveal.
The Berger Action Fund, the advocacy arm of Swiss megadonor Hansjörg Wyss's Wyss Foundation, passed $3 million to the National Redistricting Action Fund (NRAF) between 2018 and 2020. The NRAF is the 501(c)(4) lobbying arm of Holder’s National Democratic Redistricting Committee, a self-described "centralized hub for executing a comprehensive redistricting strategy" to give Democrats an edge in congressional races.
Holder, who chairs the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, launched the group in 2017 with the goal of electing Democratic majorities in state legislatures in order to control the 2021-2022 redistricting process. While Holder has claimed his group wants to create "fair maps," the committee's stated goal in its IRS forms is "to build a comprehensive plan to favorably position Democrats for the redistricting process through 2022."
Holder has repeatedly decried the influence of foreign money in U.S. politics, even comparing Russian interference in the 2016 election to Pearl Harbor and 9/11. In a 2017 Washington Post op-ed about starting the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, Holder wrote, "There is nothing more fundamental to the well-being of our nation than the right to cast a ballot in fair elections, free from foreign interference." And in October 2020 he told Bloomberg that "we need to be prepared" for foreign "attempts to interfere with our electoral system."
Wyss's contributions reveal that the foreign billionaire supplied as much as 40 percent of the NRAF's total funding in 2017-2018 and 24 percent in 2018-2019, making him one of the largest donors to the organization in those years. Wyss is a Swiss citizen who stated that he does not hold permanent U.S. residency in 2014 and recently declined to tell the New York Times if he is an American citizen.
In 2016, the Daily Caller reported that Wyss had made $41,000 in illegal contributions to Democratic political action committees in violation of the federal government's strict ban on foreign support for U.S. political campaigns. Wyss's substantial spending through his nonprofits, while legal, raises serious ethical concerns about the far-reaching impact of foreign "dark money" in American elections and redistricting processes.
But Wyss has donated over $650 million since 2002 to environmentalist and left-wing groups through the Wyss Foundation. The New Venture Fund, a dark money nonprofit managed by the consulting firm Arabella Advisors, has received roughly $56.5 million from the Wyss Foundation since 2007.
Wyss's Berger Action Fund has passed at least $12.4 million to Arabella’s Sixteen Thirty Fund since 2010. The donations help fund the group's Hub Project, a campaign run by veteran Democratic Party operatives to help liberal groups with messaging strategy. The Hub Project is credited with doing "remarkable damage" to former president Donald Trump's reputation among Wisconsin voters in the 2020 election and helping Democrats defeat Republicans on "health care, taxes and the economy" in the 2018 midterms.
Wyss's groups have also supported Democratic-aligned nonprofits such as Priorities USA, the League of Conservation Voters, and Planned Parenthood Action Fund. The Wyss Foundation boasted it gave $1 million to leftist groups for "civic participation" just prior to the 2016 election.
Wyss and the Wyss Foundation declined to comment to the Washington Free Beacon on his funding of partisan groups involved in U.S. elections, particularly as it concerns his opaque immigration status. The Berger Action Fund, which does not maintain a website, could not be reached for comment.

Obama Lies, Cashill Corrects
In November 2020, Barack Obama released his newest memoir, A Promised Land. Now, hot on his heels, comes Jack Cashill's Barack Obama's Promised Land: Deplorables Need Not Apply, a savvy and ever-diligent effort to prevent fake news from becoming fake history.
Unsurprisingly, many of Obama's newly offered truths are woefully inconsistent with those he formerly foisted on us. I've lost track of whether this is version 1.2, 2.1, or 3.0. In any event, we have yet another layer of Obama's ipse dixits to add to his earlier ones, undoubtedly also likewise intended to be gospel and therefore ineligible for further questioning. (Fat chance!)
Thankfully, truth warrior Jack Cashill, the original Obamologist, continues to remind us of the earlier versions that Obama provided so we can track the layers of obfuscation, the fake corrections, and stick with the only reality that can be documented so far.
Cashill's book also provides the omitted context within which to evaluate Obama's claims. The thirty-plus chapters address such issues as the curiously still evolving purported facts of Obama's childhood, the as-yet unanswered questions about Obama's birth date and location, and related smokescreens.
And, on a broader, macro-level where we all actually live and suffer the consequences of governmental malfeasance, the book covers topics including Obama's role in the origins of the subprime lending disaster and resulting damage to the economy. There's also some cui bono analysis of Obama-supporters who thrived while the populace did not.
I applaud Cashill for continuing to fight the good fight. Maybe, someday, future historians will be able to prove the real Obama life. Alas, I have only guarded optimism since truth is disappearing at lightning speed. Even the archives at the Wayback Machine, Vanity Fair, and Justia have been compromised, edited ex post facto, since initial posting on the internet. So I don't know what future historians will be able to trust as source material.
My pessimism is exacerbated by unrelenting destruction of the historical record of Democrats' formerly defended racist acts and crime in the destruction of statues "associated" with slavery, oddly enough removing some of the worst Democrat offenders in history from public view. But one can only hope and stay the course.
As a side note, I first noticed Obama, as did much of the country, when he spoke at the televised 2004 Democrat National Convention in Boston. I thought he was attractive and well-spoken. Unlike Joe Biden, I wasn't stunned that a black male could be both, having many such males as classmates, friends, and colleagues. But I also heard rumors, from friends who were active in the Democrat party in Massachusetts, about an "unusual" array of bodyguards at the convention who surrounded Obama to whisk him away from reporters.
I had no dog in the fight — not likely to vote Democrat anyway — but was interested in anyone who could possibly prevent Hillary from becoming the next Democrat presidential candidate. As hapless and ineffectual as Obama was as president, some of us thank him for winning the candidacy from Hillary, fearing that she would have been even worse.
So I became curious about Obama and looked into him further. I was gobsmacked to see that his famous and moving speech, the speech he later claimed to have written himself, was in fact given much earlier by Deval Patrick — essentially word for word, with similar cadence and hand gestures.
In other words, the speech had been choreographed and scripted by, and for, an earlier politician, yet Obama was given unquestioned credit for its originality by the complicit media. I waited for the mainstream reporters to do the same YouTube search I had and report on that impossible coincidence.
I'm still waiting, though Seacoastonline.com reported on it on January 13, 2008 ("Obama using parts of Deval Patrick's campaign") — and noted that David Axelrod had worked for Obama's U.S. Senate campaign, in 2004, and was a media consultant for Patrick in 2006. This might explain the recycling of the speech but not Obama's lie about writing it himself.
Cashill's book notes many instances of similar unlikely authorship claims by Obama.
So I realized, very early on, that Obama was a fraud. A faker. A Famous Amos, but without the free cookie samples. At least Amos worked hard to build his brand, an entrepreneur who arguably merited his success. Yet Obama, being "broke" and "nearly 40," rode someone else's recipe for him into the Oval Office only eight years later.
How? Who provided the seed capital that created a Barack Hussein Obama? Why isn't that the major story about Obama? Who "selected" him — using the verb that the Reverend Jeremiah Wright insisted was accurate? And for what quid pro quo?
We still have almost no answers to that critical part of the creation story.
Even David Mamet, the playwright and scholar of the long con, would have found Obama's meteoric rise implausible. And we're still asking the same questions about him that went unanswered over a decade ago. The media are still covering for him, and we are still denied the right to know who was shoved into the White House, by whom, at our expense.
Our best hope for demanding higher standards of integrity from the politicians who purport to work for us will occur only when their ability to lie to us becomes impossible...when we can demand and expect the truth so we can make informed decisions when we vote.
So I deeply value the truth-seekers who slog through the mud for bits of truth and follow the bits where they lead. And share their efforts with us for the common weal. The best of these, in my opinion, is the original Obamologist, Jack Cashill.

In fact, Obama handed the robber barons and outright criminals responsible for the 2008–09 financial crisis a multi-trillion-dollar bailout. His administration oversaw the largest redistribution of wealth in history from the bottom to the top one percent, spearheading the attack on the living standards of teachers and autoworkers.
This was not because of difficulties in securing indictments or convictions. On the contrary, Attorney General Eric Holder told a Senate committee in March of 2013 that the Obama administration chose not to prosecute the big banks or their CEOs because to do so might “have a negative impact on the national economy.”
The President and his top economic advisers bought the “too big to fail” concept, the notion that regardless of how profligate, irresponsible, even criminal, heads of the leading financial institutions in America had been, it would be worse for the nation if those institutions were to collapse. Consequently, while pushing a legislative agenda of public bail-outs, the Obama Administration maintained a secret program of multi-trillion dollar loans, including billions at below market interest rates. The principal recipients of the funding were JPMorgan, Bank of America, Citigroup Inc., Wells Fargo & Co., Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Morgan Stanley.

Trump criticized Dimon (Obama’s fave bankster donor) in 2013 for supposedly contributing to the country’s economic downturn. “I’m not Jamie Dimon, who pays $13 billion to settle a case and then pays $11 billion to settle a case and who I think is the worst banker in the United States,” he told reporters.
“Records show that four out of Obama's top five contributors are employees of financial industry giants - Goldman Sachs ($571,330), UBS AG ($364,806), JPMorgan Chase ($362,207) and Citigroup ($358,054).”
JPMorgan’s investment arm, which includes its energy group, collects $14 billion annually; in comparison, six months’ worth of fines would amount to a paltry $180 million.
The new financial disclosures reveal that top Obama advisors directly involved in setting these policies have received millions from Wall Street firms, including those that have received huge taxpayer bailouts.
He is rather typical of the Wall Street insiders who comprise a cabinet and White House team that is filled with multi-millionaires, presided over by a president who parlayed his own political career into a multi-million-dollar fortune.

Obama Still Leading from Behind

“Black people have a reason to hate. That’s how it is. For your sake, I wish it were otherwise, but it’s not so. So you might as well get used to it.”
That sounds like a Black Lives Matter speech but it’s actually the character identified only as “Frank” in Dreams from My Father. Young Barry’s grandmother had been frightened by a large black man, and as Frank explained, “your grandma’s right to be scared.” Back in the day, Frank explains, he would have to step off the sidewalk to let white folks pass. Barry’s grandfather probably never told him about that because it “makes him uncomfortable.”
Dreams from My Father is a fictitious account, as official biographer David Garrow explained in the 2017 Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama, but it does contain real events and characters. Garrow revealed what the “composite character” author had already acknowledged, that “Frank” is Frank Marshall Davis, an African American Communist so dedicated to the all-white Soviet dictatorship he landed on the FBI’s security index.
Before Barry goes off to college, Frank warns, “they’ll train you so good, you’ll start believing what they tell you about equal opportunity and the American way and all that shit.” According to Frank, if the student should want to start “running things,” then whites will “yank on your chain and let you know that you may be a well-trained, well-paid nigger, but you’re a nigger just the same.”
In Chicago, the student meets the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, “a dynamic young pastor. His message seemed to appeal to young people like me.” As the Rev. Wright explains, “life’s not safe for a black man in this country, Barack. Never has been. Probably never will be.” That too sounds like the creed of Black Lives Matter, as David Horowitz explains, created in 2013 by self-styled Marxist-Leninist revolutionaries “who selected as their movement icon convicted cop-killer and Black Liberation Army member Assata Shakur.”
In February 2015, at the height of their riots and incitements, President Obama duly invited BLM to the White House. They were better organized than he had been, the president said, and “I am confident that they are going to take America to new heights.”
After the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis cop, Black Lives Matter headed a nationwide spree of arson, looting and violence that claimed the lives of police officers, including African Americans such as David Dorn. In a virtual town hall on the matter, former president Obama named none of the victims and failed to condemn any of the violence and destruction. On the other hand, he invoked “institutionalized racism,” the “original sin” of our society.
The task of the protesters, Obama said, is to make such sinners feel “uncomfortable,” the same term Frank used back in the day, and “seize the moment.” That leaves plenty to ponder for people of no color and African Americans alike.
Born in 1905, Frank Marshall Davis studied journalism at Friends College then transferred to Kansas State. In Livin’ the Blues: Memoirs of a Black Journalist and Poet (University of Wisconsin Press, 1992), Davis proudly notes his inclusion in Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who in America. So in Frank’s day, there was plenty of opportunity for blacks in America, and things were bound to get better.
Frank warned that college is “an advanced degree in compromise” and the Rev. Wright said “life’s not safe for a black man in this country,” and never would be. Yet somehow the Hawaiian-born student formerly known as Barry Soetoro earned a law degree at Harvard, became a U.S. Senator, and in 2008 was elected president of the United States, the most powerful person in the world.
In 2015, during his second term, the composite character president brought Black Lives Matter to the White House. As the current insurrection surges, the former president mounts the bully pulpit, invoking the “original sin” of institutionalized racism. He exhorts the protesters to “make people uncomfortable” and “seize the moment.”
Leading the charge is Black Lives Matter, whose icon is Assata Shakur also known as Joanne Chesimard. In 1973, Chesimard shot and killed New Jersey state trooper Werner Foerster in execution style, at point-blank range. The convicted murderer escaped prison and fled to Cuba, an all-white Stalinist dictatorship leading the world in black political prisoners.
In 2013, on the 40th anniversary of Foerster’s murder, Joanne Chesimard became the first woman to make the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorist list. While living in Cuba, FBI agent Aaron Ford said, she “continues to promote her terrorist ideology. She provides anti-U.S.-government speeches, espousing the Black Liberation Army’s message of revolution and terrorism.”
In March of 2016, President Obama visited Cuba to push for an end to the U.S. trade embargo. He did so with no conditions on the Castro regime such as free elections, release of political prisoners, and no demand for the return of Joanne Chesimard, also known as Assata Shakur. When her protector Fidel Castro died in November, 2016, Obama recalled “the countless ways in which Fidel Castro altered the course of individual lives,” and hailed “the enormous impact of this singular figure.”
In 2016, the Stalinist’s life mattered. In 2020, the former president is still leading from behind as rioters loot, burn, and kill police officers in the style of Joanne Chesimard, an inspiration to violent leftists of all skin shades.
Weather Underground terrorists Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert named their son Chesa, after Joanne Chesimard, and the child was adopted by Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. Chesa Boudin is now district attorney of San Francisco.
“It’s time for radical change to how we envision justice,” the victorious Boudin said last year. “I’m humbled to be a part of this movement that is unwavering in its demand for transformation.”
