Aariel Maynor is the Los Angeles man who is accused in the murder of Jacqueline Avant, a Beverly Hills philanthropist and the wife of a prominent music executive, Clarence Avant. She was found murdered at her family’s mansion in California.
Speaking to reporters at the White House Thursday, Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked about the rampant smash-and-grab looting happening in Democrat run cities across the country.
Instead of citing a lack of prosecution from far left prosecutors and politicians who have legalized crime, Psaki blamed the behavior on the pandemic.
In 2014, California passed a ballot initiative known as proposition 47. It essentially decriminalized shoplifting of goods valued under $950. As a result, mobs of criminals have banded together to overwhelm stores and steal merchandise. They're also robbing people at cafes and in their homes. Over the Thanksgiving weekend a security guard in Oakland was killed.
California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom was asked about the proposition this week and whether it has led to brazen criminality in The Golden State.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki is right when she says the COVID pandemic is “a root cause” for the recent rash of smash-and-grab robberies – but, not for the reason she thinks – L.A. County Assistant Sheriff Bruce Chase says.
L.A. County’s COVID mask policy, which mandates indoor masks and encourages outdoor masks, enables smash-and-grab thieves hide their identities while looting businesses, making it tougher for police to catch them, Chase told Fox & Friends Co-Host Carley Shimkus Friday when asked about Psaki’s comment:
Shimkus: “White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, she was asked yesterday about these smash-and-grab robberies. She said that this is happening right now because of the pandemic.
“Do you think there’s anything to that?”
Clark: “Well, there are some issues with the pandemic. One issue: L.A. County still has an indoor an indoor mask mandate and encourages outdoor mask wearing, so it does create an atmosphere where it’s very easy to conceal your identity. And, that’s just another hurdle we have in trying to identify folks.”
“I don’t think that’s what she was referring to,” Shimkus responded.
“I don’t think that’s what she was referring to, either. But, that would be my take on the COVID angle,” Chase said.
Chase also blamed L.A. County’s “zero bail policy” for putting burglars back on the street soon after they’re arrested:
“These are crimes of opportunity. And, these thieves take calculated risks. And, when they feel that the risks are minimal and the consequences may be minimal, they’re will to take a chance. So, they’re terrorizing and traumatizing shoppers in our communities.”
Nolte: Democrat Party’s Crime Spike Disproportionately Killing Black Lives
The sudden rise in violent crime disproportionately hits black and Hispanic Americans, which is a surprise to no one who lives anywhere close to the real world.
The statistic gathered in this City Journalpiece are staggering, heartbreaking, and predictable:
According to CDC data released last month, 2020 bore witness to the largest rate of increase in homicides recorded in modern history—a finding that tracks with FBI data. Murder rose 29 percent from 2019 to 2020, surpassing the previous record 12.7 percent spike from 1967 to 1968. Unsurprisingly, the victims of the latest surge in violence were not equally distributed across racial groups. The rise in black homicide victims from 2019 to 2020 was almost twice as big as the rise in white victims (28 percent versus 16 percent).
A new Marshall Project analysis on last year’s homicide wave in major American cities highlights the striking racial disparity: more than 85 percent of the increase in murders occurred in black and Hispanic neighborhoods, where homicide rates were already higher than in white neighborhoods. In Chicago, for example, black neighborhoods saw a rise of 27 murders per 100,000 residents, whereas white neighborhoods saw a rise of only two per 100,000.
The Marshall Project looked at the American cities hit hardest by this violent crime wave, and guess which political party is in charge of every single one of those cities? Yep…
Atlanta: Democrat mayors since — not a typo — 1877.
Baltimore: Democrat mayors since 1971.
Chicago: Democrat mayors since 1931.
Washington, DC: Democrat mayors since 1961.
Dallas: Democrat mayors since 2011; one GOP mayor over 26 years.
Detroit: Democrat mayors since 1962.
Los Angeles: Democrat mayors since 2001, one GOP mayor over 60 years.
New York: Republican Mayor Giuliani pulled New York out of its shithole, and in eight short years, Democrat Bill de Blasio ruined it.
Philadelphia: Democrat mayors since 1952.
Democrat-run Philadelphia has already surpassed its all-time murder record of 500, and there’s still a month left to go.

In Democrat-run Chicago, murders were up 55 percent last year and are already five percent over that this year. The Windy City is on track to have its highest murder number in 25 years.

Trust me; this is a choice—a choice being made by Democrats not to fight crime. In America, we know how to fight crime. We know because we have already done it before. A soaring violent crime rate plummeted in the 1990s, thanks to effective policing and the effective prosecution of criminals.
Democrats deliberately reversed those gains for their own demonic reasons, primarily through their refusal to prosecute crimes. Once you stop prosecuting minor offenses, like shoplifting, you create a culture of lawlessness where criminals think they can do and get away with anything, which is basically true in Democrat-run cities.
Picture the difference between a cowboy riding into a quiet and sedate town and a cowboy riding into a town where drunks are on the street grabbing women and shooting guns in the air.
And, of course, black Americans are taking the brunt of it. Of course, they are. Crime always hits the poor harder than everyone else, and black Americans disproportionately live in these poorer neighborhoods. And it’s not just the violent crime they have to deal with; it’s a decrease in the overall quality of life. Unless you’ve lived through it, and I have, you can’t imagine how stressful it is to live in a high-crime area. It affects your whole life, most especially your peace of mind.
But Democrats don’t care about that, and they sure don’t care about black people. To Democrats, these lunatic policies are a way to keep the most extreme parts of their base revved up and ready to vote. To Democrats, black people are the broken eggs in their Utopian omelet.
The violent crime problem in these Democrat-run cities could be solved in a year, but Democrats won’t solve it because they don’t want to solve it.
Democrats are desperate to hold every American accountable for things dead people 150 and 250 years ago did but refuse to hold murderers and rapists accountable for the things they did last week.

Keep voting for Democrats, morons.
This violent crime spike is not an American problem. It is a Democrat-run city problem. Out here where I live, in Rural MAGA Land, we don’t have any of these problems. We all own guns, but we don’t have any of these problems. How about that?

L.A. Arrests 14 BLACKS for ‘Mass Looting,’ but Lets All of Them Go
Officials in Los Angeles announced Thursday with great fanfare that they had made 14 arrests in connection with recent “mass looting” events in the city — but all fourteen have since been released from jail, either with or without posting bail.
After a spate of brazen smash-and-grab robberies left Los Angeles-area retailers and shoppers on edge last month, officials announced Thursday that they had arrested 14 suspects in connection with the crimes.
Mayor Eric Garcetti and Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore, joined by other officials and members of the business community at LAPD headquarters, said none of the 14 suspects remains in custody.
One of the suspects is a juvenile, Moore said. The others either posted bail or were released without bail.
The chief pointed to zero-bail policies that were put in place last year for certain crimes, including burglary, as a public health measure to reduce jail populations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Progressive” policies to reduce or eliminate bail have come under the spotlight recently, after a number of high-profile crimes allegedly committed by those released, including a mass murder in a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
California has a particular problem: not only is cash bail being removed, but the state is governed by Proposition 47 of 2014, which makes retail thefts of up to $950 misdemeanors instead of felonies, meaning that fewer are ever fully prosecuted.
Both Los Angeles and San Francisco have seen mass looting events in the past several weeks. The phenomenon began the weekend before Thanksgiving with a large heist of high-end stores in San Francisco’s Union Square. It has since spread to the suburbs in the Bay Area, to fashionable stores in Los Angeles, and to other cities around the nation, including Chicago.

In LA, poverty on Skid Row defies US’ humane reputation
Many are describing what’s happening in America in a top-down revolution: That is, the political class, the billionaires, and the affluent professional class, having been marinated in Marxism in college, are imposing a Cloward-Piven strategy on America. To implement the socialist revolution that these rich people desire and assume they’ll survive, they’re systematically destroying all the institutional brakes that keep a society safe and functioning.
American cities are reverting to primitive, self-destructive behavior
American cities on the Democrats’ watch are drifting away from civilization. The most obvious problem is the rise in crime, everything from murders to mass retail theft. Just open any Chicago or New York newspaper to see what I mean. But the decline in civilization happens in smaller ways, too, as a story out of San Francisco perfectly illustrates.
I grew up near San Francisco’s West Portal neighborhood. My first elementary school, before busing took me out of one white, middle-class elementary school within walking distance of my home and sent me to another white, middle-class elementary school that was not, was West Portal Elementary. According to my copy of San Francisco’s West Portal Neighborhoods, my school was built in 1926, at around the same time the entire neighborhood was developed.
The book’s back cover nicely describes the neighborhood I knew:
When you're in West Portal and the adjacent Forest Hill and St. Francis Wood, it's hard to believe you're still in San Francisco. These quiet and picturesque neighborhoods are decidedly non-urban, yet they are connected by a streetcar tunnel that leads under Twin Peaks to the bustling downtown area, two miles through the city's mountainous core. In fact, West Portal is named for the western end of this tunnel, which opened in 1917 to bring residents from the city center to what were new garden suburbs. Originally West Portal was sandy and scruffy, while Forest Hill and St. Francis Wood were heavily forested. The neighborhoods grew rapidly in the 1920s, and today West Portal is a popular shopping and entertainment district, while St. Francis Wood and Forest Hill boast some of the city's finest architecture and landscaping.
Even when we were very little, my friends and I could safely walk around the busy West Portal shopping street, just down the hill from our school. Clutching quarters in our hands, we’d buy candy or ice cream. The shopkeepers knew us, and we’d often run into our parents’ friends, who knew us too. It was very much a family neighborhood.
Even when I was last there, perhaps seven or eight years ago, while many of the stores I remembered were gone, it was still a busy friendly street, without chain stores sullying it. The library, where I spent endless hours as a child and young adult, was unchanged, which was a comfort.
Those memories explain why I found so horrifying a video shot at an intersection just one block east of the northeastern end of West Portland. That intersection was down the hill from my school and my best friend in third and fourth grades lived a block away from there. Again, we’re talking about a neighborhood that spent 90 years being solidly middle class and friendly.
What the video showed was a vast crowd around the intersection watching a car spin donuts, something that is also called a “sideshow”:

Judging by the tweets on the subject, it was some time before the police finally stopped this illegal, dangerous, and just plain ugly activity:

It turns out that another sideshow took place at the same time in the Sunset District, only 20 blocks from where I grew up. And just a week ago, in Oakland, there was a massive sideshow, complete with gunfire.
I blame what’s happening entirely on the left. Beginning in 2013, with George Zimmerman’s self-defense shooting against Trayvon Martin, leftists have been steadily chipping away at the infrastructure that supports law-abiding middle-class Americans. The war on police blossomed into Defund the Police, which segued seamlessly into no bail, which resulted in six people dying in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and a sideshow in what was once the quietest and safest middle-class neighborhood in San Francisco.
Many are describing what’s happening in America in a top-down revolution: That is, the political class, the billionaires, and the affluent professional class, having been marinated in Marxism in college, are imposing a Cloward-Piven strategy on America. Currently, the affluent leftists are insulated from the chaos they’re creating. The people harmed are the ordinary folks who just want to live peaceful lives in a stable, affluent country. The big question is whether ordinary folks will have time between now and 2022, and again between now and 2024, to break through the bought-and-paid-for election fraud that puts these despicable people in power at every level of federal and state government. Only in that way can we save America from the political and street sideshows that are killing it.

Darrell Brooks drove through a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and killed six people. He injured another 62. He’s been booked on multiple counts of intentional homicide. There’s no indication that he reduced speed when he plowed through people. The liberal media has done their part in trying to suffocate this story. Why? Well, Mr. Brooks is black. He doesn’t fit their narrative. The other reactions from the Left were of total glee. This attack occurred after the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict—and liberal Americans see this incident as karma. It’s the Rust Belt’s comeuppance for not putting away a white guy, Rittenhouse, who shot and killed two other white guys in self-defense during the 2020 Kenosha riots. So, days after he’s been arrested, charged, and held in custody—how does Mr. Brooks feel? Oh, he says he’s been dehumanized and demonized. Yeah, do you want me to bring you a binky (via Fox News):
"I just feel like I'm being monster – demonized," Brooks, 39, said during a brief video visit in Waukesha County Jail – a stone’s throw from where tragedy struck over a week earlier.
Wearing a sleeveless green jail jumpsuit and his hair in braids, the soft-spoken accused killer offered no details about what prompted the carnage.
The two Fox News reporters on the other side of the video screen marked the first visitors he’s seen since the Nov. 21 night of horror. Brooks appeared calm, lucid and took time to answer each question – even repeating reporters' questions and answers at times.
Not even his mother has dropped by, he said. Earlier in the day, she released a statement on behalf of the family decrying Wisconsin’s criminal justice system for failing her son, a longtime felon with a 50-page rap sheet detailing domestic violence, firearms, drugs and other convictions in Wisconsin, according to documents obtained by Fox News Digital.
Brooks is also a registered child sex offender in Nevada and served time in Georgia for beating his ex, records show.

The six victims range in age from 8 to 81 years old, and have been identified as Jackson Sparks, 8; Tamara Durand, 52; Jane Kulich, 52; LeAnna Owen, 71; Virginia Sorenson, 79; and Wilhelm, 81.
Yeah, sorry—he’s trash. He’s a career criminal. He’s a menace to society. He’s a child sex offender. And he could soon add murderer to his list of crimes. He faces life in prison if convicted. He’s being held on $5 million bail. He should be held without bail, to be honest. When you run over and kill six people, one of whom was younger than 10 years old—you deserve to be dragged through the mud.
