Rampant violent crime across the United States, particularly in cities and states run by radical leftist mayors and governors is of great concern to Americans everywhere and is an outgrowth of the insanity of the defund police movement and “criminal justice reform” which has led to violent criminals being released without bail causing carnage at unprecedented levels.

Perhaps in response to this crisis, on January 21, 2022 the Department of Justice issued a press release:  Attorney General Merrick B. Garland Delivers Remarks at the U.S. Conference of Mayors that provided a transcript of his remarks as they were delivered.

It is important that, as you read the transcript, to remember that the Attorney General of the United States is also the chief law enforcement officer of the United States.  Many federal law enforcement agencies operate under the aegis of the Justice Department but even those agencies that operate under the auspices of other agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security, and the Treasury Department still rely on the federal prosecutors of the Justice Department they partner with to further criminal investigations and prosecutions for all crimes comprehended under federal statutes.

Violations of federal criminal laws are prosecuted by federal prosecutors who are assigned to the U.S. Attorney’s offices located across the United States.

Federal prosecutors are not, however, required to accept the prosecution of all cases that are presented to them by federal agents.  Because of limited resources and political considerations, federal prosecutors have far-ranging discretion in deciding whether or not to pursue criminal charges in the cases that are brought to them.

U.S. Attorneys are beholden to the “marching orders” issued by the Attorney General for whom they all work.

This brings us back to Attorney General Garland’s prepared remarks and a particular worrisome excerpt:

Keeping our country safe and the American people safe is a core priority of the United States Department of Justice. A critical part of keeping our country safe is protecting it from foreign and domestic terrorism.

These are dangers that Justice Department law enforcement components work against all day, every day. And as I have said, they are dangers that we work against together with our state and local partners, without whom we cannot succeed.

Another important part of keeping our country safe is working alongside all of you to protect our communities from violent crime, and particularly the scourge of gun violence.

At the Justice Department, we stand shoulder to shoulder with you in the fight against violent crime, and we will use every tool at our disposal to protect our communities.

Last year, the department launched a comprehensive anti-violent crime strategy aimed at harnessing our resources of every relevant component in the department, including our United States Attorneys' Offices, our litigating divisions, all of our law enforcement agencies and our grantmaking offices.

Recognizing the importance of anti-violent crime strategies that are tailored to individual communities, we directed each United States Attorneys Office to work with its state and local partners to address the crime problem in those communities.

As a result, the FBI, ATF, DEA and U.S. Marshals Service partnered with state and local agencies and police departments to embed agents in homicide units, confiscate illegal firearms, disrupt violent drug trafficking and provide other support where needed.

That very last paragraph is beyond shocking.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the immigration law enforcement elements of the that federal leviathan are conspicuously absent from the Attorney General’s statement which included the threats posed by international terrorists even as he enumerated many other federal agencies.

The Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) has always included immigration law enforcement officers.  In point of fact, the 9/11 Commission, to which I provided testimony, made it abundantly clear that the 9/11 terror attacks and other such attacks, were only possible because of multiple failures of the immigration system.

A variety of other task forces have also traditionally included immigration law enforcement personnel.

Other law enforcement efforts are largely duplicated by local and state law enforcement agencies however, the enforcement of the immigration laws including the deportation (removal) of illegal aliens is unique to the DHS.

We will consider the findings and recommendations of the 9/11 Commission shortly, but first I want you to know that in writing my article today I am calling upon my extensive real-world experiences as an INS (Immigration and Naturalization Service) special agent.

I was the first INS agent assigned to the Unified Intelligence Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in New York City.  I worked closely with the DEA, FBI, local and state police and a variety of law enforcement agencies both within the United States and even foreign governments.

That assignment lasted for about four years whereupon I was promoted to the position of Senior Special Agent and assigned to the Organized Crime, Drug Enforcement Task Force.  Once again, I was assigned to various other federal agencies to provide my unique authorities and expertise as an INS agent to assist in conducting investigations and subsequent prosecution of large-scale narcotics trafficking organizations.

There are a variety of crimes that pertain specifically to aliens who commit serious crimes in the United States that are uniquely pursued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.  Among these crimes are:

8 U.S. Code § 1326 (Reentry of aliens who were previously removed from the United States)- which carries a maximum of 20 years in prison for aliens who are deemed to be “aggravated felons.”

8 U.S. Code § 1324 (Bringing in and harboring certain aliens).

18 U.S. Code § 1546 (Fraud and misuse of visas, permits, and other documents) which can carry up to 25 years in prison when such crime is committed in conjunction with terrorism.

18 U.S. Code § 922 (Unlawful acts concerning firearms and ammunition) the following subsection addresses possession of firearms or ammunition by illegal aliens:

(5)who, being an alien

(A)is illegally or unlawfully in the United States; or

(B)except as provided in subsection (y)(2), has been admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa (as that term is defined in section 101(a)(26) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(26)));

Additionally, the removal (deportation) of aliens helps to combat recidivism.  Criminal aliens who are no longer in the United States cannot carry out crimes in the United States.

Nevertheless, the Biden administration has gutted both border security and the enforcement of our immigration laws from within the interior of the United States.  Garland’s omission of immigration law enforcement from the efforts to help combat violent crime was clearly consistent with the policies of the Biden Administration.

Transnational gangs are running rampantly across the United States, frequently profiting by their involvement in the drug trade which has caused the deaths of tens of thousands of victims in the United States.

Gang violence causes many additional deaths- frequently within the ethnic immigration communities where these criminals, from all over the world, now operate with impunity particularly in so-called “Sanctuary Cities” and “Sanctuary States.”

The preface of the official report 9/11 and  Terrorist Travel - Staff Report of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States began with the following paragraph:

It is perhaps obvious to state that terrorists cannot plan and carry out attacks in the United States if they are unable to enter the country. Yet prior to September 11, while there were efforts to enhance border security, no agency of the U.S. government thought of border security as a tool in the counterterrorism arsenal. Indeed, even after 19 hijackers demonstrated the relative ease of obtaining a U.S. visa and gaining admission into the United States, border security still is not considered a cornerstone of national security policy. We believe, for reasons we discuss in the following pages, that it must be made one.

Border security is national security, but perhaps the most overlooked element of immigration law enforcement is the enforcement of our immigration laws from within the interior of the United States.

Page 54 of the above-cited report contained this excerpt under the title “3.2 Terrorist Travel Tactics by Plot.”

“…once in the United States terrorists and their supporters tried to get legal immigration status that would permit them to remain here, primarily by committing serial, or repeated, immigration fraud, by claiming political asylum, and by marrying Americans. Many of these tactics would remain largely unchanged and undetected throughout the 1990s and up to the 9/11 attack.”

Thus, abuse of the immigration system and a lack of interior immigration enforcement were unwittingly working together to support terrorist activity. It would remain largely unknown, since no agency of the United States government analyzed terrorist travel patterns until after 9/11. This lack of attention meant that critical opportunities to disrupt terrorist travel and, therefore, deadly terrorist operations were missed.

I included that statement in my prepared testimony when, on March 10, 2005, I testified before a hearing conducted by the House Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Claims on the topic,  Interior Immigration Enforcement Resources.

Advice for Garland, Biden and Mayorkas: as I noted in my prepared testimony for a hearing conducted by the Senate Judiciary Committee on July 12, 2006, “A nation without secure borders can no more stand than can a house without walls.”

Biden Admin Commences Border Wall Construction Study with ‘No Plan to Build’

LA JOYA, TEXAS - JULY 01: An unfinished section of border wall is seen on July 01, 2021 in La Joya, Texas. Recently, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has pledged to build a state-funded border wall as a surge of mostly Central American immigrants crossing into the United States continues to …

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced the next study phase for the construction of a border barrier project covering 86 miles in the Rio Grande Valley. Last week, the agency opened the door for public comments as part of an environmental assessment. Despite the appearance of progress, CBP is already disclosing that it will not proceed with construction or new permanent land acquisitions at the conclusion of the study. The bureaucratic maneuver helps shield the agency from violating legal responsibilities to dispense with funds as Congress ordered.

In Fiscal Years 2018 and 2019, Congress appropriated funds for the 86-mile construction project which the Biden Administration later urged subsequent lawmakers to cancel. Although the President has promised he will not use tax dollars to fund border wall construction, the administration is legally obligated to move forward with the study process due to the Congressional appropriation.

The latest announcement doubles down on the administration’s request to cancel funding, which the current Congress has yet to do. Until then, the obligation holds. The announcement begins what could be a lengthy environmental process designed more to adhere with federal funding laws rather than break ground as intended.

According to a Cambridge University Press research document analyzing more than 2,000 environmental studies, the time frame for completion of an impact statement ranged from 51 days to 18 years. Should the administration remain committed to not building wall projects, the environmental process can stretch almost indefinitely.

After announcing a pause in border wall construction in January, the administration faced claims by Republican lawmakers that the move violated impoundment laws regarding the failure to expend congressionally appropriated funds. In June, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) determined the administration’s pause was a programmatic delay and did not violate any laws.

In a June press release, the White House acknowledged the legal obligation to expend the funds for wall construction:

Although most of the funds used for the border wall were diverted from other purposes, Congress provided DHS with some funding for border barrier projects. DHS is legally required to use the funds consistent with their appropriated purpose.

In the same announcement, the administration emphasized, “DHS will engage in a comprehensive review that includes detailed environmental impact analysis and remediation, and robust and substantive engagement with relevant stakeholders, including border community residents, their elected representatives, tribal communities, and environmental and other interested non-governmental organizations and advocates.” The statement signals the administration intends to be thorough in its public outreach and is in no hurry to break ground.

An agency spokesperson further told Breitbart Texas:

The environmental planning activities addressed in the news advisory of January 20, 2022, will not involve any construction of new border barrier or permanent land acquisition. The environmental assessment is unrelated to the levee remediation work in the RGV approved by DHS on April 30, 2021.

The public comment period will terminate on March 7, 2022.

Biden’s Year One in Immigration

Excerpt: The disaster at the border exceeds anything we’ve ever seen, with close to 1.7 million arrests at the southern border in fiscal 2021. Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) called a bombshell report about Hunter Biden from Peter Schweizer’s new book, Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win, “alarming, but not surprising.”

Cotton tweeted out a Breitbart News article that cites Red-Handed and reports that a “Chinese global energy company,” with ties to Chinese intelligence, sent Hunter Biden almost $6 million in 2017.

The report, authored by Breitbart News’s Kristina Wong, reads in part:

The firm, now defunct, was led by Ye Jianming, a wealthy and connected Chinese businessman who was chairman and majority owner of the global energy company CEFC China Energy.

Furthermore, by July 2017, CEFC began making interest-free, forgivable loans to the Biden family. CEFC executive Zhao Running wrote that $5 million was intended as the money lent to the BD family,” not just Hunter Biden.

“This $5 million loan to the BD [Biden] family is interest-free,” Zhao wrote.

Schweizer notes that “interest-free loans provide tremendous leverage because the lender can demand its money back if it is displeased by any action.”

In August 2017, CEFC Infrastructure Investment LLC sent Hunter Biden’s law firm, Owasco, $100.000. Four days later, the firm wired $5 million to another entity controlled by Ye, which then started sending regular payment to Owasco. Biden then transferred $1.4 million of that money to a firm called Lion Hall Group, which was controlled by his uncle James Biden and his wife, Sara Biden.

According to Red-Handed, The Biden family received “$31 million from five deals in China, all with individuals with direct ties to the Chinese spy apparatus,” reports Breitbart News’s Politics Editor Emma-Jo Morris.

Citing Red-Handed, Morris writes:

Multiple financiers with direct ties to Chinese intelligence partnered with Hunter Biden during and after his father’s time as Vice President — including the former head of the Ministry of State Security and the head of foreign intelligence recruitment — and some of those relationships remain intact, according to Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win, by Breitbart News senior contributor Peter Schweizer.

Schweizer explains that Beijing saw a financial relationship with the Bidens as an opening for “elite capture,” which allowed Hunter Biden to secure meetings and score major deals with people in the highest levels of Chinese financial institutions and the Chinese Communist Party — and in return, they would be able to leverage the Bidens’ power for their interests.

Schweizer’s book also chronicles how donations from communist China to the University of Pennsylvania almost tripled after the university announced in February of 2017 it was launching the “Biden Center,” Breitbart News’s John Hayward reports.

“In the three years before the announcement, the university received around $15 million. In the three years after, the total was close to $40 million. The latter number is $60 million from China if you include contracts,” writes Schweizer in Red-Handed.

Hayward reports:

Some of those donors were anonymous, but declared donors included the state-owned China Merchants Bank, and a company called Cathay Fortune owned by “a secretive Chinese billionaire who appears to have strong links with the Communist Party” named Yu Yong.

Cathay Fortune is especially interesting because it has a controlling interest in China Molybdenum, a mineral producer with Chinese military contracts that teamed up with Hunter Biden’s investment fund to invest in an African copper mine.

For a time, Anthony Blinken – now Biden’s secretary of state – “served as the center’s managing director before heading off to work on the presidential campaign in 2019,” Schweizer writes.

Hayward notes that in March of 2021, Secretary of State Blinken “was famously ambushed and curb-stomped by Chinese diplomats during his first bilateral conference with them.”

Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win was published by Harper-Collins and released on January 25. It has already claimed “the #1 bestseller spot on both Barnes & Noble and Amazon across all book categories and genres,” Breitbart News reports. Schweizer, a senior contributor to Breitbart News and president of the Government Accountability Institute (GAI), is also the bestselling author of Throw Them All Out, Clinton Cash, and Secret Empires.

Could Border Malfeasance Lead to Impeachment? Not 'Out of the Realm of Possibility,' Sen. Cotton Says

(CNSNews.com) - Instead of forcing would-be asylum-seekers to remain in Mexico, as the courts have ordered, the Biden administration has been videotaped shipping dozens of adult male illegal border-crossers to the interior of this country.

"That is in direct, direct violation of the court's order," Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) told Fox News's Laura Ingraham Tuesday night. "I hope the court holds them accountable. I hope they hold Secretary, DHS Mayorkas, accountable for this."

Ingraham asked Cotton: "If they keep doing what they do, which is not enforce the law, America is essentially changed in profound ways going forward, maybe forever. So do you discount the possibility that the House could actually bring up a serious -- perhaps impeachment inquiry just on this issue of the border alone? Is that out of the realm of possibility?"

"No, Laura, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility, because of all of the abuses of the Biden administration, I think what the Department of Homeland Security has done to undermine American sovereignty, to open our borders, to undercut wages and jobs for American workers is probably the most egregious," Cotton said.

"And they're open about it. Secretary Mayorkas has said it in speeches, that being illegally present in the country is no longer even a priority for deportation. They admit these things publicly."

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas plans to visit the (wide open) border in Yuma, Arizona, on Wednesday. His visit follows news that U.S. Customs and Border Protection "encountered" 178,840 illegal border crossers in December, the highest number ever for that month.

As CNSNews.com reported, the total number of encounters on the U.S.-Mexico border in just the first three months of FY 2022 (518,360) already exceeds the total annual figure for nine of the previous 12 fiscal years. The exceptions are 2018 (521,090), 2019 (977,509) and 2021 (1,734,686).

Mayorkas' planned visit also follows the above-mentioned Fox News report from Brownsville, Texas, showing dozens of illegal aliens being flown to locations around the country.

"Your tax dollars are supporting single grown men crossing this border and being shipped wherever they want to go," Cotton said Tuesday night. "That is a far cry from what that federal courts have ordered the Biden administration to do, which is to re-implement President Trump's remain in Mexico policy.

"I was shocked by the Biden administration's response to it. They said that they sometimes help with the orderly processing to get these migrants to their final destination. Well, Laura, when someone crosses our border illegally, their final destination should always be turning them around and sending them back to their home country. It shouldn't be putting them on a bus or an airplane at taxpayer expense to go wherever they want in the United States."

At the White House press briefing on Tuesday, Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy asked Jen Psaki, "Why is it that large numbers of single adult men are being released into the United States just hours after being apprehended at the southern border?"

"Well, I'm not sure the specifics of what you're referring to, Peter," Psaki replied:

What I can tell you in terms of what our policy is and how we're approaching the border is that we continue to be under Title 42. Migrants who cannot be expelled under Title 42, are placed into immigration proceedings. And one of those avenues could be placement in an alternative to detention program in the interior of the United States.

Sometimes that means moving migrants to other parts of the United States to move to different detention facilities where they wait for next steps in the immigration process such as a court hearing and are required to check in with a local ICE office.

So that is something -- certainly something that is happening out there in the country and is consistent with our policy.

Schweizer: ‘It’s Going to Be Business as Usual’ for Hunter’s Dealings

https://www.breitbart.com/clips/2021/01/20/schweizer-its-going-to-be-business-as-usual-for-hunters-dealings/

Joe Biden, the corrupt, unaccomplished 47-year career politician, with a reputation of having been a proud segregationist, an unabashed plagiarist and liar, a resolute tale-teller, and a serial flip-flopper, is pretending to head up a radical social-democratic ticket for President of the United States that includes as his running mate the ambitious, disagreeable junior senator from California: Kamala Harris.

There it is.  That's the issue.  To begin, you have the corrupt family Biden.  They've been scamming us and our system well for almost fifty years.  The man is supposedly worth over 250 million dollars.  How is this possible on his salary?  It's not.  So where did his wealth come from?  Not from being a brilliant businessman. DAVID PRENTICE

The fact that Hunter's market value was derived from his father's position seemed to be a source of resentment for the younger Biden, even as he continued to cash in on the name. Hunter complained in texts to his daughter that he had financially supported the Biden clan for three decades and that "pop" takes a cut of "half [my] salary." Financia records and correspondence reported on by Devine indicate that money from Hunter's business accounts was used to cover Joe's AT&T bill and home

maintenance expenses and that a portion of at least one major China deal was earmarked for the elder Biden.

RED-HANDED: $6 Million Biden Family Deal Was with Ye Jianming Who Had Ties to a Spy-Linked ‘United Front’ Group

A Chinese global energy company linked to a Chinese intelligence operation sent close to $6 million to Hunter Biden in 2017, according to the explosive new book Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win by Peter Schweizer.

The firm, now-defunct, was led by Ye Jianming, a wealthy and connected Chinese businessman who was chairman and majority owner of the global energy company, CEFC China Energy.

Biden had developed a close working relationship with Ye “on a number of fronts.”

Their relationship began around the end of 2015, when Joe Biden was still vice president. Associates of Ye and Biden, including the then-Serbian foreign minister, brokered the connection between the two men, Biden and Ye.

Hunter Biden would tell his then-partner Tony Bobulinski in text messages dated October 14, 2017, that he spoke with Ye on a “regular basis” and that they had a once-a-week call. Biden would also become Ye’s personal counsel in the U.S. — essentially an employee and representative for the Chinese global energy chairman in the U.S.

“In brief, Hunter Biden was now the U.S. representative for an intelligence- and military-linked Chinese company that was supporting voices calling for an aggressive military posture against the United States and its allies,” Schweizer writes.

Ye had a number of ties to Chinese military intelligence. CEFC was housed in a complex in Shanghai’s French concession section, an area “primarily controlled by China’s military.” One of Ye’s early business partners with the granddaughter of one of the founders of China’s military, Marshall Ye Jianying.

Ye had also built his business by acquiring assets from a former People’s Liberation Army (PLA) officer closely linked with Chinese military intelligence, Lai Changxing. Ye was also the deputy secretary-general of either the China Association for International Friendly Contract (CAIFC) or its Shanghai branch from 2003 to 2005. CAIFC is funded by Chinese PLA intelligence.

In addition, there were Chinese military officers affiliated with Ye’s company who also had ties to the PLA National Defense university. CEFC also funded a related non-profit think tank called the China Energy Fund Committee, whose analysts would advocate for using military force in the South China Sea. Another CEFC subsidiary called for Taiwan’s reunification with mainland China.

Schweizer writes:

Ye was at the center of Beijing’s economic strategy. His firm, CEFC, saw itself as playing an important and central role in advancing China’s Belt and Road Initiative, which was designed to expand Chinese economic and political influence worldwide. Accordingly, CEFC was also an oil supplier to the People’s Liberation Army.

Hunter Biden worked with Ye and his associates with the hopes of developing CEFC into a global energy company with vast energy holdings in countries like Oman, Romania, Colombia, and Luxemburg.

But CEFC also had ambitions in the U.S. — which provided the opportunity for the $6 million payment.

CEFC had plans to invest in U.S. infrastructure and set up two entities to make that happen — Hudson West IV and SinoHawk. Hunter Biden and his uncle James Biden was involved in running those efforts. Hunter Biden hired Tony Bobulinski, an experienced financial manager.

In 2017, Hunter Biden made plans to house his businesses, one of his father’s offices for the Biden Foundation, and CEFC together in an office space in Washington. For his “new office mates,” Hunter listed: “Joe Biden Jill Biden Jim Biden Gongwen Dong (Chairman Ye CEFC emissary).”

Hunter wrote in an email on September 21, 2017: “I would like the office sign to reflect the following The Biden Foundation Hudson West (CEFC U.S.). The lease will remain under my company’s name Rosemont Seneca.”

Dong not only had notable ties to those embedded in Chinese intelligence and foreign influence operations, according to Schweizer, but he also was the chief financial officer at the Beijing-based Radiance Property Holdings — which was tied to the Chinese government’s “united front” foreign influence operations.

The firm — now called Radiance Holdings — is controlled and run by Lam Ting Keung, a businessman with deep connections to “united front” groups linked to Chinese intelligence. Lam was also a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, a high-ranking Communist Party advisory body that is also a central component of the Chinese government’s united front efforts.

Schweizer writes: “According to a U.S. federal government commission, united front organizations often serve as covers for Chinese intelligence operations.”

“The money soon began to flow,” Schweizer writes. Over 2017, CEFC sent Hunter Biden close to $6 million.

Furthermore, by July 2017, CEFC began making interest-free, forgivable loans to the Biden family. CEFC executive Zhao Running wrote that $5 million was intended as money lent to the BD family,” not just Hunter Biden.

“This $5 million loan to the BD [Biden] family is interest free,” Zhao wrote.

On September 8, 2017, Hunter Biden and Dong applied for a line of credit, making James and Sara authorized users for credit cards on the account. They then bought $100,000 in luxury items.

When the CEFC infrastructure fund known as Hudson West later folded, a Chinese assistant to Hunter Biden wrote him, “Whatever money from Hudson West, please take them, take as much as possible or figure out a way to spend them for your own benefits … just take it and keep as much as possible.”

‘Red-Handed’ Reveals Chinese Donations to University of Pennsylvania Soared After Biden Center Announcement

joe-biden-upenn-biden-center-xi-facebook-getty
PennBiden/Facebook, Nicolas Asfouri/Getty Images; BNN Edit
3:51

Peter Schweizer’s new book Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win includes the story of how donations from Communist China to the University of Pennsylvania almost tripled after the university established a “Biden Center” in 2017 and gave former Vice President Joe Biden a professorship.

As the book lays out in detail, the Biden family has a very extensive business relationship with Chinese Communist Party elites, and those elites were not shy about celebrating Joe Biden’s election in 2020 as a golden opportunity to further develop their influence over American government agencies and institutions. (One Chinese conference in November 2020 was so ebullient on this subject that Beijing prudently decided to nuke its video off the Internet just as it began to go viral.)

Three years before Joe Biden was elected president, the University of Pennsylvania made him a professor and established the “Biden Center” to promote his vision of “global leadership” — a vision, Schweizer notes, that viewed Russia as the great looming threat to world peace, but had absolutely nothing negative to say about China.

This should be especially amusing to those who remember the Obama-Biden ticket flinging adolescent taunts at rival candidate Mitt Romney in 2012 because he was supposedly stuck in the 1980s and obsessed with our good friends in Moscow as a Cold War boogeyman. It is, however, consistent with Biden’s stubborn refusal to see Communist China as either a threat to Western security or a competitor for American business interests.

The Biden Center at the University of Pennsylvania was more than just a website that railed against Russia’s dictator while praising China’s as a treasured partner in globalism. The Center hired people, including Antony Blinken, who went on to become Biden’s Secretary of State — a role in which he was famously ambushed and curb-stomped by Chinese diplomats during his first bilateral conference with them in March.

Blinken’s work for the Biden Center appears to have left him completely unprepared for China’s emissaries shutting him down with a furious lecture on America’s alleged human rights violations. This should come as no surprise, for as Red-Handed outlines, the financing of the Biden Center was murky, but a great deal of documented Chinese money began flowing to the University of Pennsylvania after it was opened.

“In the three years before the announcement, the university received around $15 million. In the three years after, the total was close to $40 million. The latter number is $60 million from China if you include contracts,” Schweizer writes.

As Red-Handed explains in great detail, the Chinese regime and Communist Party billionaires have spent a great deal of money developing influence over American higher education. At the very least, the return on these investments was a Biden administration staffed with people who expected China to play softball — and were absolutely stunned when the first diplomatic pitches they lobbed to Beijing were returned with smoking line drives right into their faces.

Red-Handed, published by Harper-Collins, will be released on January 25. Schweizer is the president of the nonpartisan Government Accountability Institute (GAI) and a senior contributor to Breitbart News.
