The Wrecking Ball of American Cultural Marxism
This week, in my neighborhood, a non-orthodox rabbi and cantor sanctified in a religious ceremony the declaration of a person to be non-binary, sexless, neither male nor female.
Half of those Americans who hear this story will think it’s just some passing fad or maybe a nice new energizing twist on religion which often feels a bit worn and stilted. Many will actually feel that it’s a wonderful new movement toward moral elevation, progressive values, liberalism, social justice, the bending the arc of history toward the good. I’d presume the rabbi and cantor feel they are hearing the words of a good and caring God, words muffled or hidden for four thousand years of Jewish history -- “go out my human creation, celebrate and sanctify those who feel they are not a man or woman.” Uhh, what happened to the part about “I created humans, male and female and that was Good?”
This new attack on America is not cute. It’s not progressive. In essence, it's actually cruel. It’s a regressive return to a pre-Biblical, pre-Enlightenment, prescientific worldview, a view spoken about in the opening chapters of the Bible. It is a return to the world of darkness and chaos before God in his love brought light and order to the universe. Only after order was accomplished did He (not Xe or They) go on to create man in his image. The cruelty lies in the call to chaos and disorder such a mindset and religious service engenders.
One of the fundamental parts of Judaism and the western culture it helped to spawn is the concept of order and distinction in the world. Good is different and separate from evil, animal from man, holy from unholy, right from wrong and, vitally, male is essentially distinct from female. There are no other choices than male and female in humans or any vertebrate species for that matter. Our kids are not “assigned” one of 150 genders at birth. This concept is moronic hogwash, a return to the darkness, ignorance, chaos, and disorder we humans struggled for millennia to crawl from.
And from whence does all this come from here in 21st-century America? Where do all these well-intentioned men and women come from pushing this incredibly destructive nonsense on our kids, religious congregations, and American communities? It comes from a strain of malevolent values that have invaded modern America, including our synagogues and churches. This is the variant of American Marxism.
The traditional form of Marxism practiced by barbarians like Lenin, Stalin, and Mao did not accomplish the overthrow of the liberal, Judeo-Christian, wealthy peoples of the West. Marx’s ideas were based primarily on economics and hatred for the bourgeois capitalist wealth producers. His views only helped direct and encourage the true believers of this new secular pagan ideology to murder, impoverish, and enslave hundreds of millions of people over decades.
Despite the grand failure in the West, the true believers of this evil dogma persisted in trying to bring their utopian Communist paradise to Paris, London, and New York. Radical Marxists emigrated en masse from Germany to form the Frankfurt School of social research at a welcoming place, Columbia University. A new version of Marxism, cultural Marxism, blossomed here and spread its poisonous ideology from coast to coast. This Americanized form of Marxism has now spilled out into almost all of our institutions from our nursery schools, the Democrat party, our media, sports, entertainment, and now even our mainline non-orthodox churches and synagogues.
Antonio Gramsci was a critical figure in formulating this variation of Marxism. He was a passionate and vocal Italian Communist working in the 1920s. As Paul Kengor stated in an excellent essay on this subject, “Gramsci looked to culture instead of economics. If the Left truly wanted to win, it needed to first seize the cultural means of production, the culture forming institutions, such as the media, universities and even the churches. Not until Leftists came to dominate here would they be able to convince enough to support the Marxist revolution…. Gramsci and his heirs insisted that these leftist intellectuals needed to question everything, including moral absolutes and the Judeo-Christian basis of Western civilization. This is where we got professors fulminating against everything from “the patriarchy” to “white imperialism” to “transphobia. “Even biological sex was no longer considered a settled issue.”
Tragically, half of America has never heard of cultural Marxism or Gramsci. This is the half fully plugged into the Pravdalike media of this country and mentally parasitized by its daily relentless American- leftist intellectual virus.
So, in response to this week’s attack on American culture, I’d say, “no Rabbi, no Cantor, we do not in the Judeo-Christian America or the West sanctify, celebrate or affirm all that is inside our minds so that it may become normalized in public or that it may receive the imprimatur of holy sanctification by our religious American elites. Indeed, we are called by our values and traditions to be sensitive, loving, and kind to anyone with a deeply disordered mind. We hope and pray for this person. We hope they find health, peace, and order. We do not use or, rather, abuse disturbed people to rally on the disorder and chaos of the Americanized version of Marxism, its Cultural Marxism, now marching through all our institutions trying to tear them down one at a time. We’ve seen the horrid results of the first march through human history of the Marxists. This second one – merely a variant of the first -- will only bring similar horror if not stopped.

Biden 'Having' the 'Back' of Kids Means Supporting Horrific Transgender Experiments
In Tuesday night’s State of the Union address, President Joe Biden told young people with gender dysphoria that he will “always have [their] back.” Though he didn’t specify what exactly that means, presumably it had something to do with extending Title IX protections to include allowing men full access to women’s facilities and sports, extending mandatory insurance coverage for “gender reassignment” surgeries, and restricting any counseling, treatments, or public advocacy that does anything less than fully affirm one’s gender dysphoria.
Immediately following the president’s late-speech shoutout was a call to pass the Equality Act, something that remains (at least for now) dead in the Senate. The Equality Act would be a kind of legislative nuclear option, rendering the approximately 250 so-called “anti-LGBTQ” bills under consideration across America pointless, and leading to serious restrictions on religious liberty, especially for religious schools.
Over the last few years, following a strategy that proved effective for advancing pro-life protections, states like Texas have been laying creative groundwork to hold adults accountable for experimenting on young people struggling with gender identity. Having these laws in place is incredibly important, given the astronomical rise in the number of young people identifying as transgender and how quickly transgender ideology went from being unthinkable to unquestionable in so many aspects of society.
For instance, the field of so-called gender-affirming “medicine” is the only example of medical treatment that attempts to alter the body to accord with the mind, as opposed to helping the mind align with biological reality. That was a $316 million industry in 2018. By 2026, it is projected to be a $1.5 billion industry.
Children, in particular, are the subjects of these social experiments, which are only one example of how reality is being reimagined along the lines of sexual autonomy. If the early days of the sexual revolution were about being free from the confines of sexual morality, these latter days are about being free from the confines of sexual reality.
That these created realities were part of a biological, social, and religious package deal went largely unquestioned until recently. However, technological innovations such as the pill, IVF, and surrogacy, legal innovations such as no-fault divorce, and cultural innovations such as ubiquitous pornography and “hook-up” apps have all made it increasingly plausible to reimagine the world. Children are forced to go along as we pursue so-called sexual “freedom.”
Specifically, the pursuit of social and legal equality without reference to reality has proven disastrous. It’s one thing to say that men and women are equal before God and the law; it’s quite another to say that they are the same or, like we are saying today, that any and all differences are either an illusion or unjust. So now, we hear, without a hint of parody, that men can bear children and that “not all women menstruate” and that love can make a second mom into a dad. None of this is true, but young people are expected to play along, to adapt to and adopt these lies, pretending all is well, even if they’re not.
Of all of the lies of the sexual revolution, the most devastating is repeated at each new stage of the sexual revolution in order to justify whatever new way life and the world are reimagined. It’s been phrased various ways, but it’s the same fundamental myth: “the kids will be fine.”
But, of course, the kids haven’t been fine. Not even close. In her book, "Them Before Us: Why We Need a Global Children’s Rights Movement," Katy Faust documents all of the ways the kids aren’t fine, and all of the ways their well-being is sacrificed on the altar of adult happiness.
On Tuesday, March 15, I will be talking with Katy Faust about all of the ways that kids aren’t fine and how Christians can and must defend children from the myths, misnomers, and lies of the sexual revolution. This isn’t a theoretical topic. In fact, I’m absolutely convinced that standing for the inherent dignity and rights of children against the innovations of our age is what “running into the plague and caring for victims” will require of us. It’s what Christians are called to in this cultural moment.

Cartel-Connected Human Smugglers Plead Guilty to Migrant Kidnapping
Two cartel-connected human smugglers pleaded guilty to ransom kidnapping migrants in the border city of Laredo, Texas.
Court documents revealed that 26-year-old Jesus Ochoa and 29-year-old Luis Armando Garcia pleaded guilty to kidnapping and hostage-taking charges during a hearing before U.S. District Judge Marina Garcia Marmolejo, who ordered they be held without bond until sentencing. Ochoa is a U.S. citizen, while Garcia is a Mexican national and in the country illegally, the U.S. Attorney’s office revealed.
The case began on November 19, 2021, when the two men picked up four migrants on the banks of the Rio Grande and took them to a house, federal prosecutors claimed in a criminal indictment. While the migrants had been promised a trip to San Antonio, the two men kept them and demanded a ransom payment. The men held the migrants at gunpoint as they called relatives in New Jersey, Florida, and other states.
The kidnappers requested that the money be sent via wire and went to a Walmart to pick up some of the proceeds, the indictment revealed.
According to prosecutors, federal authorities were able to trace the phones to a general location in Laredo. When Ochoa and Garcia saw the authorities nearby, they panicked and took the migrants to an industrial park.
Once there, the migrants were able to ask a trucker for a phone and called for help.
All of the smuggling activities in Laredo are controlled by the Cartel Del Noreste faction of Los Zetas in Nuevo Laredo across the border. That criminal organization has established itself as one of the most violent and sadistic in Mexico.
