Gunmen Dressed as Mexican Cops Threaten to Burn Journalists Alive

Gunmen dressed as police threatened journalists in Mexico with setting them on fire to deter reporting on a story. The threats come as the country draws international attention after nine journalists were already murdered in 2022.

The incident took place Tuesday when journalists with El Universal were meeting with environmental activists near Tecamac, Mexico State. The activists were denouncing a mineral mine necessary for the construction materials of a new airport.

When the journalists were documenting the area, gunmen in a pickup pulled up and began issuing threats, El Universal reported. The gunmen fired weapons into the air as they forced two female reporters and a photographer to delete their work. They were threatened with death if they returned.

The reporters claimed one of the gunmen wearing a vest with a state police patch assaulted an activist and then wielded a gas can while threatened to burn everyone alive. Eventually, the gunmen allowed the group to leave.

The threats against El Universal come as Mexico has recorded the murders of nine journalists this year. Press freedom groups label the country as the deadliest for news workers outside of active war zones.

Rather than acknowledge the crisis, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has taken a confrontational approach against international criticism, calling Western politicians “sheep, corrupt, and interventionist” in various statements.

Senate Republicans Warn Border Patrol 'Will Simply Lose Control' If Title 42 Is Lifted

(CNSNews.com) - A group of Senate Republicans stepped up to the microphone on Wednesday to warn what will happen when the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lifts the (temporary) Title 42 public health authority that has allowed the U.S. to rapidly expel illegal immigrants during the COVID pandemic.

On the same day, at least two members of the Biden administration agreed that lifting Title 42 will increase the already historic pace of illegal immigration.

"Look, we have a -- a pattern of migration, and we are preparing to ramp up for a traditional pattern of additional people coming across the border," OMB Director Shalanda Young told the Senate Budget Committee on Wednesday.

When Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) asked her, "Do you support eliminating Title 42 deportation authority?" Young replied, "I don't have a personal opinion."

At the White House on Wednesday, White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield said the Biden administration is "planning for multiple contingencies, and we have every expectation that when the CDC ultimately decides it’s appropriate to lift Title 42, there will be an influx of people to the border, and so we are doing a lot of work to plan for that contingency."

At the press conference led by Sen. John Cornyn, from the border state of Texas, Republican senators said if you think things are bad now, just wait:

"We've had a historic number of what are euphemistically called border 'encounters,'" during the Biden administration, Cornyn said. "The problem is, this is a hodgepodge of everything from economic migrants, to sex offenders, to drug dealers, to people who are convicted felons.'

He noted that many of the illegal aliens are not vaccinated, and COVID isn't the only health concern:

“Title 42 is scheduled to expire unless it's extended," Cornyn said. "The Border Patrol tell me that if it expires without a plan being put into place to allow them to handle this volume of migrants, they will simply lose control of the border. There's only so much that the Border Patrol can do."

Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) gave numbers: "If you take just the first 14 months of the Biden Administration, 2.3 million people illegally crossed our border. To put that in perspective, the first 14 months of the Biden Administration had as many illegal crossings as the previous four years the Trump Administration did, combined," he said.

He noted that the Biden administration has had a year to plan for the lifting of Title  42 -- and now the plan is becoming clear:

"Their plan is to move people into the country faster. That’s their whole plan," Lankford said. "What they have worked on apparently for a year is a way to expedite people crossing the border and moving into the interior at a faster rate,” Lankford said.

"As they talk about mass migration, they talk about, 'How do we actually move people to the interior faster so they don’t get clogged up at the border,' and the images that all of you saw last summer don’t occur again at the border with thousands and thousands and thousands of people.

"That is not a plan to help us with illegal immigration," Lankford said. He noted that, by the Biden Administration's own estimates, "a million people will illegally cross the border within six weeks, at the moment that they drop Title 42. They’re aware of what they’re about to release," he said.

“At some point, a public health emergency is not a policy," said Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio). He noted the 40 percent increase in deadly fentanyl coming across the border last year. He said fentanyl accounts for two-thirds of the deaths in his state of Ohio.

Portman said the current lax immigration system is bringing people to the border, including Russians and Ukrainians. "And I’m told...that these individuals are flying to places like Cancun and Mexico City and coming up to the border. Any why wouldn't they? It's the pull factor."

Portman says would-be immigrants should be applying for asylum in their own country, then receiving immediate adjudication when and if they reach the U.S. border -- "And let's get this under control," he said.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said not only does the Biden administration lack a solution to the border crisis -- "they don't intend to change; they want millions more to come in, year after year after year."

Cruz faulted the Biden administration for scrapping Trump’s promised border wall, reinstating catch and release, and ending Trump's successful Remain in Mexico policy.

President Joe Biden’s deputies are expected to drop the Title 42 border barrier that helps border officials regulate the inflow of economic migrants, according to the Associated Press.

The wire service reported on March 30:

The Biden administration is expected to end the asylum limits at the U.S.-Mexico border by May 23 that were put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, according to people familiar with the matter.

But the decision is not final and would be opposed by some Democrats, the AP noted:

Sens. Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema, both Arizona Democrats, sided with Republican leaders to say Title 42 should remain until U.S. border authorities were prepared for sharp increases in new arrivals.

Kelly’s opinion is important to Democrats because he is facing an election in November for a seat in the evenly divided Senate.

The barrier was raised by President Donald Trump’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during the initial coronavirus wave. In practice, Biden has the political power to direct the CDC to keep the barrier operating — unless judges intervene.

The CDC barrier will expire on May 23 unless it is extended.

As usual, the university-educated reporters at the AP favorably present the view of pro-migration advocates and ignore the economic damage done to less-educated Americans’ job and housing markets.

The decades-long, elite-backed flood of migrant labor and renters created a cheap-labor bubble that boosted Wall Street by impoverishing many millions of  Americans, including almost 20 million American men who were pushed out of the job market.

For example, CNBC reported on March 30:

Roughly 20% of employees regularly run out of money between paychecks, up from 15% last year, according to the survey of more than 3,000 working adults in February.

As a result, about one-quarter of those polled said it’s harder to afford necessary expenses and one-third are unable to build savings, issues that are particularly problematic for low-to-moderate income workers.

The CDC-governed Title 42 barrier allows homeland security chief Alejandro Mayorkas to regulate the inflow of cross-border migrants to a level that does not break into the evening news. Mayorkas is regulating the inflow to about 150,000 per month, including roughly 50,000 migrants who sneak across the border.

Mayorkas is not trying to stop the economic migration, but he is trying to funnel it through progressive-run agencies and non-profits.

DHS officials told favored reporters this week that the migrant inflow would likely triple once the barrier is lifted.

“Homeland security officials on Tuesday described contingency plans for managing as many as 18,000 encounters a day at the border, regardless of the cause,” reported the New York Times.

That inflow would add up to more than 500,000 people a month — or more migrants than American births in a month.

The flood would exacerbate the other economic damage being caused by the flood of roughly 1 million legal immigrants and perhaps 400,000 new visa workers into Americans’ jobs and homes.

The predicted flood has been encouraged by Mayorkas and pro-migration deputies, who quickly ended the border protections established by former-President Donald Trump in early 2021.

These deputies have also reduced the use of the Trump-imposed Title 42 disease-related rejections at the border, minimized the deportations of illegals, and accelerated the inflow of legal immigrants and visa workers.

It is not clear if the administration is willing to stop mass migration. Mayorkas is a Cuban immigrant and a pro-migration zealot who argues that the United States is, and must always, be a “Nation of Immigrants.”

A 2012 survey by Gallup showed that more than 150 million people around the world want to migrate to the United States.

But some of Biden’s officials are now alarmed about the public’s reaction to their refusal to defend Americans’ border: “Democrats do not want the southwest border to appear out of control in the months ahead of the midterm elections, which would fuel more Republican attacks on the Biden administration’s border policies,” the New York Times said.

The inflow has “rattled some Democrats who worry it may be too soon to return to pre-pandemic immigration rules at the border,” said the Washington Post.

In 2014, a rush of migrants at the border wrecked public trust in the border policies set by President Barack Obama. Those 2014 poll numbers derailed Obama’s hopes for a mass amnesty and encouraged a New York TV personality to run for president.

In September 2021, Biden’s polls were badly damaged by the TV news coverage of the invasion by roughly 30,000 migrants at Del Rio in Texas.

A supercharged repeat of the mass migration during the 2022 election year may help Americans to recognize their shared opposition to labor migration.

That public opposition is revealed in polls, but it is suppressed by claims by investor-funded progressives that the United States is a “Nation of Immigrants.”

The opposition is also hidden by the corporate-owned establishment media, which rarely describes the scale of migration or the public’s hostility to labor migration.

The U.S. population of legal immigrants and illegal migrants hit 46.6 million in January, up roughly 1.6 million since Biden was inaugurated, according to federal data posted by the Center for Immigration Studies.

Since at least 1990, the D.C. establishment has used a wide variety of excuses and explanations — for example, “Nation of Immigrants” — to justify its policy of extracting tens of millions of migrants and visa workers from poor countries to serve as workers, consumers, and renters for various U.S. investors and CEOs.

The self-serving economic strategy of extraction migration has no stopping point. It is harmful to ordinary Americans because it cuts their career opportunities, shrinks their salaries and wages, raises their housing costs, and has shoved at least 10 million American men out of the labor force.

Extraction migration also distorts the economy, curbs Americans’ productivity, reduces voters’ political clout, undermines employees’ workplace rights, and widens the regional wealth gaps between the Democrats’ coastal states and the Republicans’ Heartland states.

An economy built on extraction migration also radicalizes Americans’ democratic, compromise-promoting civic culture because it allows wealthy elites to ignore despairing Americans at the bottom of society.

The economic strategy also kills many migrants, splits foreign families, and extracts wealth from the poor home countries.

Not surprisingly, the wealth-shifting extraction migration policy is very unpopular, according to a wide variety of polls. The polls show deep and broad public opposition to labor migration and the inflow of temporary contract workers into jobs sought by young U.S. graduates.

The opposition is growinganti-establishmentmultiracialcross-sexnon-racistclass-basedbipartisanrationalpersistent, and recognizes the solidarity that Americans owe to one another.

Migrants Rush U.S. Port of Entry After Riot in Mexican Holding Facility

Dozens of migrants rioted inside a Mexican immigration facility and then made a run to Texas, leading some to cross an international bridge and others to the U.S. bank of the Rio Grande. The rush forced authorities to temporarily shut down the land port of entry.

The incident took place on Sunday in Piedras Negras, where migrants from Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela held inside the offices of Mexico’s National Migration Institute (INM) at International Bridge 2 rioted to escape the facility. The migrants broke windows and other items before leaving. Several dozen managed to leave and at least 28 ran across the border bridge. U.S. authorities closed the bridge to stop the rush.

The 28 have since been processed by U.S. authorities and returned to Mexico, authorities in Coahuila revealed. At least 10 are believed to have reached the Texas side of the Rio Grande.

Coahuila state authorities have been forced to increase enforcement actions in Piedras Negras and surrounding areas to control the rise in migrants looking to cross into Texas for asylum. The current crisis has led to numerous drownings in the border river.

Editor’s Note: Breitbart Texas traveled to Mexico City and the states of Tamaulipas, Coahuila, and Nuevo León to recruit citizen journalists willing to risk their lives and expose the cartels silencing their communities.  The writers would face certain death at the hands of the various cartels that operate in those areas including the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas if a pseudonym were not used. Breitbart Texas’ Cartel Chronicles are published in both English and in their original Spanish. The White House warned Wednesday to expect a renewed surge of migrants crossing into the United States after President Joe Biden’s administration lifts Title 42 restrictions at the border.

“We have every expectation that when the CDC ultimately decides it’s appropriate to lift Title 42, there will be an influx of people to the border,” White House communications director Kate Bedingfield said to reporters during the daily press briefing.

Previous reporting has highlighted Biden officials’ behind the scenes estimate of more than 170,000 migrants entering the United States once Title 42 is ended.
Bedingfield insisted the decision to lift the Title 42 protections was a medical and public health decision that would be made by the Centers for Disease Control, not by immigration or national security officials.

She did not confirm or deny several reports that Title 42 would be lifted in late May.

“Of course we are planning for multiple contingencies,” she said.

The Title 42 restrictions, previously leveled by former President Donald Trump, allowed immigration officials to send border crossers back to their home countries for public health reasons, citing the coronavirus pandemic.

Bedingfield also said the Biden administration had worked steadily to bring more migrants, especially children, into the country.

Bedingfield blamed former President Donald Trump for dismantling government systems to allow more migrants to come into the country

“We were building from a place where a lot of these pieces have been torn down,” she said.

Bedingfeild said Biden would continue working with the Department of Homeland Security to handle the influx of migrants, but did not announce any major plans to discourage migrants from coming to the United States.

She also denied that President Joe Biden or any of his senior administration officials had pressured the CDC to leave the measure in place.

Biden, the Ersatz President

The United States does not have a real president right now. There is an individual named Joe Biden who shows up occasionally and sits in the Oval Office, but in no way can he be considered to be “President” in the traditional understanding of that term. Biden is an ersatz president.

An American president is essentially the CEO of the federal government. He or she sets the overall strategy and direction of the country, outlines and articulates its major objectives and manages the subordinate elements that create the actual policy in order to achieve the big-picture goals laid out by the president. Like any CEO, that person likely doesn’t personally have the specific technical knowledge and expertise on a micro level in a given subject area that his/her subordinates have (nor should a CEO or president get bogged down in that kind of attention-diverting minutia), but the CEO must have an overriding vision of their company’s intended direction and be able to see how the various component parts work together in the proper proportion and timing needed to achieve the stated goals. That holds true as well for the President of the United States.

Donald J. Trump was the prototypically ideal president in terms of setting clear achievement objectives for the country (securing the southern border, becoming energy independent, rebuilding our military, renegotiating advantageous international trade agreements, stopping China from taking unfair advantage of America in trade matters, getting NATO to pay more of its share of its defense needs, etc.) and putting in place the laser-focused personnel required to execute the plan.  This was classic large-scale business-style vision and management at its best.

Putting aside the unfounded, irrational personal animosity that his political opponents felt for him for having defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016 and for being direct, rough-edged and unapologetic in his dealings with the liberal media, recalcitrant foreign adversaries and feckless erstwhile “allies,” President Trump’s clear-eyed ambitions for the country led to a very targeted effort with unrelenting emphasis on the ultimate goal.

Many presidents, coming from a life-long appearance-oriented, “You-scratch-my-back-and-I’ll-scratch-yours” political background, are only too happy to compromise their objectives for the sake of popular acceptance and media adulation. For them, the final results as they redound to the country’s benefit are not their true goal. For the conventional politically minded president, an agreeable process is actually the end goal: activity that looks and sounds good, even if it’s bereft of real, meaningful substance.

Results vs. Process. Trump was a Results president. Biden is a Process president. Biden and the Democrats embark on a flurry of meaningless activity that plays well to the media and to their supporters, but which amounts to nothing of positive significance. To the extent that Biden’s empty activity subtracts from or negates President Trump’s actual beneficial results, what Biden and the Democrats are doing is incredibly harmful to this country and detrimental to a smooth-running world order.

Unlike President Trump’s clearly-stated, very specific intentions of how to improve the quality of daily life in America, Biden and the Democrats seem intent only on currying favor with special-interest groups and their accomplices, the adoring liberal media. Consider the major initiatives undertaken or proposed by the current Democratic regime:

  • The dissolution of our border integrity, with intentional unrestricted illegal immigration.
  • Ending American energy independence, curtailing fossil fuel exploration and production -- astonishingly, before a viable replacement exists! -- and imposing crippling restrictions on future fossil fuel energy industry activity.
  • Supporting destructive BLM activities and riots, favoring defunding the police, eliminating cash bail and decriminalizing what liberals laughably refer to as “low-level” crimes like shoplifting, robbery and breaking & entering.
  • Endorsing positions clearly opposed by the majority of the country, such as men competing in women’s sports, the U.S. military paying for gender-change surgery, males being able to declare that they “identify as women” and enter female bathrooms and locker rooms, elementary-age children being taught and exposed to “alternative” LGBTQ lifestyles far before children have any natural understanding or interest in such matters, and so on. This is the fringe woke speaking to the fringe woke. It’s not a government putting forth policies approved by the majority that benefit the majority.
  • Denuding our military of its equipment, mission and spirit by attempting to transform it into a mechanism for social change instead of a sharply honed, singularly aimed instrument of national security. It’s bad enough that the Biden Democrats are reducing the funding and equipping of our military. It’s even worse when Biden’s Head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff says his biggest concern is understanding “white rage.” The only thing Mark Miley should be concerned with is defeating our enemies on the battlefield. Nothing else.

This is the difference between a president concerned with bottom-line beneficial results and one who’s concerned with laughably shallow meaningless activity that amounts to nothing, other than buying the favor and future votes of niche special interest groups.

President Trump’s results-oriented approach gave us:

  • Energy independence with $2.25 per gallon gasoline vs. begging Iran for oil and $4.37 gasoline.
  • Secure, orderly, humane borders vs. human trafficking, drug infestation and illegals overwhelming our schools and healthcare system.
  • Treating 8-year-olds like 8-year-olds with worthwhile educational methods that emphasized a solid understanding of scholastic fundamentals along with a proportional appreciation for tolerance and compassionate societal norms.
  • A battle-ready military standing proud and poised to defeat any threat to American national interests.

The Biden Democrats have saddled us with the opposite. As a direct result of having an ersatz president without any semblance of worthwhile goals or inspired vision, daily life in America is now close to an unmitigated disaster. Absent America’s clear leadership on the world stage, uncertainty and potential catastrophe loom everywhere, around every corner because foreign adversaries are emboldened by our weakness. We are living through the debacle of not having a real president, someone with a clear plan to better the country.

Results are all that matter. Are you safe? Are you prosperous? Are you healthy? Are your children being educated? A real president understands all that and works to bring it about. A real president is immune to the distractions of appearances and media approval.

We don’t have a real president now.
