SERVING NAFTA JOE BIDEN'S OPEN BORDERS AGENDA - Arizona Senator Mark Kelly Has Repeatedly Voted Against Border Security

According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform’s 2017 report, illegals and their children cost taxpayers a net $116B annually -- roughly $7K per alien annually. A recent study by the Heritage Foundation found that low-skilled immigrants (including those here illegally) cost Americans trillions over the course of their lifetimes, and a study from the National Economics Editorial found that illegals costs U.S.over $140B annually. As it stands, illegals are a massive burden on American taxpayers.

The president of FAIR Dan Stein discussed the report, stating that “Roughly the equivalent of the entire population of Ireland has illegally entered the United States in the 18 months President Biden has been in office, with many being released into American communities.”

He continued, saying “In that time, the Biden administration has blamed an unprecedented surge of illegal immigration on all sorts of external factors, except their own sabotage of our nation’s immigration laws.” SPENCER LINDQUIST

Democrat Senator Mark Kelly from Arizona, who is up for reelection in November, has repeatedly voted against border security measures and enabled the Biden border crisis.

Kelly voted against border security at least three times in 2021 alone. In February of 2021, Kelly voted against an amendment that would have kept the Biden administration from being able to cancel existing border wall contracts.

In May of the same year, Kelly voted against border security again, this time voting against an amendment that would have prohibited the Biden administration from cancelling border wall contracts for which funds had already been appropriated. Kelly similarly voted against border security again in August.

Kelly has also voted to end Title 42, which allows the government to suspend entry of immigrants into the United States for reasons of public safety. Kelly was previously critical of the Biden administration’s plan to end Title 42, saying that “it’s going to be a crisis.”

Additionally, the Democrat Senator from Arizona voted against a measure that would have prohibited the Internal Revenue Service from hiring any new agents until the U.S. Border Patrol doubled its forces.

Kelly has voted for Joe Biden’s preferred policies 94 percent of the time.

Since Biden took office, nearly 5 million illegal immigrants have crossed into America, including just under 200,000 who came into the United States in July 2022 alone.

Dan Stein, the president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform, pointed out the severity of the Biden border crisis. “Roughly the equivalent of the entire population of Ireland has illegally entered the United States in the 18 months President Biden has been in office, with many being released into American communities,” he said.

Kelly will face off in November against Republican Senate candidate Blake Masters, who has called the crisis on the border an “invasion.” The Donald Trump-endorsed Republican candidate has also contended that “the Democrats push open borders” because elites want to destroy this country

Masters’ plan for border security includes finishing the wall, opposing amnesty, mandating E-verify nationally, and tripling the size of the border patrol. Masters has remarked that “we’re not going to have a country” if we refuse to secure the border.

BILLARY CLINTON AND 'CREDIT CARD' JOE BIDEN WERE THE CLOWNS WHO PERPETRATED NAFTA!

Since the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was enacted and China entered the World Trade Organization (WTO), nearly five million American manufacturing jobs have been eliminated from the American economy — 3.4 million of which are due to U.S. free trade with China. The mass elimination of working- and middle-class jobs and depressed U.S. wages due to NAFTA and China’s entering the WTO have coincided with a 600 percent increase in trade deficits.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, the architect of the multinational corporation’s China outsourcing scheme, was one of the biggest proponents of the amnesty for 4.4 million illegal aliens while Big Agriculture donors lobbied lawmakers to pass the farmworker amnesty (ONE-THIRD OF ALL FARM WORKERS END UP ON WELFARE AS SOON AS THE ANCHOR BABIES START COMING).

A whopping 4.9 million illegal immigrants have crossed our border since Biden has taken office, a report from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) found.

The president of FAIR Dan Stein discussed the report, stating that “Roughly the equivalent of the entire population of Ireland has illegally entered the United States in the 18 months President Biden has been in office, with many being released into American communities.”

He continued, saying “In that time, the Biden administration has blamed an unprecedented surge of illegal immigration on all sorts of external factors, except their own sabotage of our nation’s immigration laws.”

The nearly 5 million illegal immigrants who have entered our country since Biden took office includes nearly 200,000 that crossed the border in July of 2022.

With 199,976 illegal immigrants entering in July, the figure marks a whopping 325 percent increase over the average number of July apprehensions across former President Trump’s four years in office. Of the 199,976 illegal immigrants, 134,362, or 67 percent, were single adults.

There were also 10 individuals on the terror watch list who were stopped on our southern border last month.

Perhaps even more startling, July is the 17th straight month in which border patrol has had 150,000 encounters or more. In addition, 2,071 pounds of fentanyl, the equivalent of 469 million lethal doses, and 12,989 pounds of methamphetamine were seized at the southern border in July alone.

Thomas Homan, the former Acting Director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for the Trump Administration, joined Alex Marlow on Breitbart News Daily on Sirius XM to discuss the border crisis.

He said that the number of illegal immigrants entering our country under Biden “blows every other record out of the water” despite the fact that the Trump Administration “handed this administration the most secure border we’ve ever had.”

FAIR president Dan Stein also criticized the Biden Administration, saying “The endless flow of illegal aliens and the incursion of lethal narcotics pouring across our border will not end until this administration demonstrates a willingness to enforce our laws.”

Border Crossers Awarded Healthcare, Free Cellphones Upon Arrival in NYC

Border crossers arriving in New York City on migrant buses sent from Texas by Gov. Greg Abbott (R) are being awarded healthcare services as well as free cellphones, among other things.

On Sunday, as the New York Post reports, the city’s hospital system held an event for arriving border crossers at a hospital in the Bronx where they were offered healthcare services along with free cellphones, food, library cards, and school supplies.

The event comes as Mayor Eric Adams (D) estimates that, in the last few weeks, Abbott has bused more than 4,000 border crossers to New York City as part of his plan to alleviate waves of illegal immigration to Texas by transporting new arrivals to sanctuary cities run by Democrats.

In addition to free goodies from the city, thousands of border crossers are expected to be housed in luxury hotel rooms across Manhattan.

Last week, Breitbart News reported that New York City officials are planning to house border crossers arriving on migrant buses in about 6,000 hotel rooms. That plan comes as rents for New Yorkers have skyrocketed.

Likewise, New York City Cardinal Timothy Dolan said Catholic Charities is working to enroll young border crossers in high-priced Catholic schools.

Illegal immigration poses massive costs to American taxpayers, annually. Every year, taxpayers are billed more than $143 billion to subsidize the cost of the nation’s 11 to 22 million illegal aliens.

Survey: Half of American Companies Set to Cut Jobs After Hiring Surge

The total population of people claiming unemployment insurance in the United States hit a record low not seen in almost 30 years

Numerous companies across the United States are planning to trim their employee numbers, Fox Business reported Friday.

The outlet continued:

That’s according to a new survey published on Thursday by consultant PwC, which last month polled more than 700 U.S. executives and board members from various industries. About half of respondents said they are preparing to reduce headcount — or already have — while 52% have implemented hiring freezes.

On top of that, roughly 46% of companies are either dropping or reducing signing bonuses, which became commonplace over the past year as businesses tried to lure in new workers amid an increasingly tight labor market. Another 44% are rescinding offers entirely, the survey showed.

Home goods company Wayfair decided to cut approximately 870 workers to help manage operation costs and “realign its investment priorities” following the coronavirus pandemic, the Associated Press (AP) reported this week.

In 2020, the company reported a 55 percent sales growth because people were buying home furnishings.

However, “Last year, as more people ventured out, sales at Wayfair declined 3.1%,” the outlet said.

In addition, Best Buy was also cutting jobs as the company grappled with shifting consumer behavior, the AP reported on August 12.

According to the recent survey by PwC, respondents were trying to streamline the workforce to create the right balance of worker skills moving forward.

“This comes as no surprise. After a frenzy of hiring and a tight labor market over the past few years, executives see the distinction between having people and having people with the right skills,” it stated.

“Nearly 70% of businesses reported allowing more employees to work from home permanently,” the Fox article read.

In June, the number of job openings plunged as the Federal Reserve increased interest rates, the cost for gas skyrocketed, inflation climbed, and growth in consumer spending slowed down, Breitbart News reported on August 2.

Hiring rates fell at businesses with more than a thousand workers, and “this suggests that businesses are preparing for an economic downturn by pulling back from bringing on new employees,” the outlet said.

Polling Support for Migration Crashes amid Biden’s ‘Invasion’

Many more Americans are rejecting the “Nation of Immigrants” narrative amid the huge damage from President Joe Biden’s cheap-labor migration policy, according to Ipsos polling data.

Opposition to a border wall has dropped sharply from 65 percent in 2018 to 42 percent in 2022, says the Ipsos poll announced on August 18, which also showed that 54 percent of Americans view Biden’s easy-migration policy as like an “invasion.”

Public support for the much-touted “DACA” amnesty for former child migrants has dropped from 65 percent in 2018 to just 51 percent in 2022, according to the poll.

Just 26 percent of people “strongly” endorse the 1950s “Nation of Immigrants” narrative, down from 40 percent in 2018, the poll shows.

Overall “strongly and “somewhat” support for the claim that “immigrants are an important part of our American identity” has plunged from 75 percent to just 56 percent in four years, as Biden’s deputies smuggle roughly 3 million low-wage migrants into Americans’ workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods.

Nonetheless, the large decline in support for migration has not been crystalized into a matching gain for pro-American migration policies.

That gain could happen if GOP politicians — perhaps former President Donald Trump — stare down their big-money donors and begin to offer a coherent and consistent pocketbook pitch for lower migration, higher wages, and lower rents.

Under Biden, “What you see is a shift in the whole spectrum of opinion on immigration,” said Mark Krikorian, the director of the Center for Immigration Studies:

Some people who were moderately against immigration are now more intensely opposed, some people who were on the fence are now opposed, and people who were strongly supportive maybe now a little more ambivalent. So, the kind of irresponsible [immigration] policies the administration is pursuing shifts the entire spectrum of opinion in the public towards more skepticism about immigration.

Ipsos

Ipsos

Ipsos’ polling echoes the shift described by other pollsters.

In July, a 35 percent plurality in a YouGov poll said immigration makes the United States “worse off,” while 31 percent said immigration makes the U.S. “better off.” In a YouGov poll from September 2019, the “worse off” number was just 19 percent, and the “better off” number was 43 percent. That adds up to a 28-point shift in public opinion in three years.

“Biden, please let us in,” reads in English on the T-shirts of a group of migrants from different backgrounds who made their way to the “El Chaparral” international border crossing. The migrants were asking the U.S. government for asylum. (Stringer/picture alliance via Getty Images)

In August, Gallup reported that the share of Americans who want less migration rose from 28 percent in May 2020 to 38 percent in July 2022. The share who want more migration dropped from 34 percent to 27 percent.

An August 13-16 poll of 1,500 citizens by YouGov showed that 36 percent of Americans see legal immigration as a problem, while 53 percent say it is not a problem. Thirty-two percent of independents and 44 percent of Trump’s 2020 voters see it as a problem, the poll said. The poll also showed that 61 percent of Americans see illegal immigration as a problem — but 39 percent of Democrats did not see it as a problem.

Politicians and writers have long predicted a shift against migration if the federal government fails to keep control of the borders, Krikorian said:

There should be no surprise about these results. We’ve had warnings about this 30 years ago when Barbara Jordan said that if immigration laws were not enforced, then support for immigration as such would decline. In fact, the warning is even older than that. Father [Ted] Hesburgh, who was head of an earlier immigration commission and released his report in 1979, said that if immigration wasn’t controlled — and wasn’t seen by the public to be controlled — then support for even illegal immigration would decline, and that’s what we’re seeing.

If your goal is to bolster the current legal immigration, you should be alarmed at what this administration is doing because it is laying the groundwork for serious [popular] restrictions on immigration,” Krikorian said, adding:

Warning the Biden administration about this goes against my interests because I want a reduction in immigration. I’d like to have them as part of reasoned public debate, but we might end up getting them just as a backlash against the anti-border crowd’s overreach.

The opinion shift is likely larger than admitted by the donors, politicians, or especially the pollsters who face strong pressure from business clients to not reveal pro-American views. For example, Ipsos posted a note on August 19, which ignored Biden’s policy and economics, and instead blamed public attitudes for public attitudes:

As the midterms approach, the misinformation and the heated political rhetoric surrounding immigration seem to be resonating with the public.

But why is that? How did we get here? In short, populism and the persistent feeling many Americans have that the system is broken are creating the political ingredients that drive some of this sentiment.

Immigration is a culture war topic that brings out some of our most divisive rhetoric and tendencies. Populism and nativism are the cultural currents framing this topic and this moment. This is not new in American politics.

Americans deal with tremendous pressure from the establishment — including the TV networks — to ignore or welcome the inflow of replacement workers, consumers, and renters.

For example, the Ipsos poll showed that only 48 percent of all respondents — and 38 percent of Democrats — understood that “the number of migrant apprehensions at the southern border was higher in 2021 than ever before.”

But many polls show that Americans will admit greater opposition to migration if the pollsters use a proxy issue to gauge their views.

An April 2021 survey by a pro-migration business group asked 2,200 Americans about the coronavirus and migration, saying, “Based on what you know, do you think immigrants help or hurt the United States’ long-term economic recovery to COVID-19?” Just 23 percent said immigrants help, while 40 percent said they hurt.

GOP respondents split 8 percent for “help,” and 68 percent for “hurt.” That adds up to 8:1 GOP opposition to migration. In contrast, Democrats favored migration, splitting 38 percent “help” and 20 percent “hurt.”

Similarly, in August, YouGov also asked Americans if they want a “pause” in migration. That question lets Americans answer without committing to final opposition against the establishment narrative. YouGov’s July poll shows 42 percent support for a “pause,” up from 37 percent in June 2020.

Also, poll questions that remind respondents about pocketbook issues tend to show more opposition than questions about the establishment’s “Nation of Immigrants” narrative. So YouGov’s August question –“When jobs are scarce, employers should prioritize hiring people of this country over immigrants” — shows a 48 percent agreement. That is six points above the “pause” number.

Also, political leaders can break through the establishment’s “Nation of Immigrants” narrative to win elections.

In 2016, Trump spoke out for American solidarity and many subsequent polls showed a sudden rise in the public’s willingness to speak out in favor of themselves and their fellow citizens. Breitbart News reported on an Ipsos poll from September 2016:

Trump’s promise to start “immediately deporting” illegals who have committed crimes gets 75 percent strong and somewhat support, and only 7 percent strong opposition. That’s 10-to-one support.

Sixty-two percent support and 13 percent strongly oppose, “detaining or immediately deporting all people who enter the U.S. illegally.”

Sixty-seven percent of respondents support, and only 9 percent strongly oppose, the implementation of current laws that levy fines on employers who hired illegals instead of Americans. Those laws were largely ignored by President Barack Obama and President George W. Bush

The poll showed that only 12 percent strongly opposed plans to “change the legal immigration system to limit legal immigration.” Four times as many, or 57 percent, back reductions in legal immigration, while 13 percent did not take a position.

Nearly all GOP and Democratic politicians are under tremendous donor pressure to stay silent about the pocketbook damage of migration, or the cost of lives and economic chaos.

Many Democrats seem confident that GOP candidates will remain mute on migration in elections, despite the political opportunity.

There is good evidence for the Democrats’ confidence. For example, the Twitter account run by Rep Lee Zeldin (R-NY) — the GOP’s losing gubernatorial candidate in New York state — says little or nothing about Biden’s flood 0f migrant workers and renters into workplaces and housing throughout New York.

Extraction Migration

It is easier for government officials to grow the economy by immigration than to grow exports, productivity, or the birth rate.

So the government deliberately extracts millions of migrants from poor countries and uses them as workers, renters, and consumers.

This Extraction Migration policy skews the national economy. It shifts vast wealth from ordinary people to investorsbillionaires, and Wall Street. It makes it difficult for ordinary Americans to advance in their careers, get married, raise families, or buy homes.

Extraction Migration slows innovation and shrinks Americans’ productivity, partly because it allows employers to boost stock prices by using stoop labor and disposable workers instead of productivity-boosting technology.

This migration policy also reduces exports by minimizing shareholder pressure on U.S. companies to build up beneficial and complementary trade with people in poor countries.

Migration undermines employees’ workplace rights, and it widens the regional wealth gaps between the Democrats’ big coastal states and the Republicans’ heartland and southern states.

An economy fuelled by Extraction Migration also drains Americans’ political clout over elites, alienates young people, and radicalizes Americans’ democratic civic culture because it allows wealthy elites to ignore despairing Americans at the bottom of society.

This economic strategy is enthusiastically pushed by progressives who wish to transform the U.S. from a society governed by European-origin civic culture into a progressive-directed empire of competitive, resentful identity groups. “We’re trying to become the first multiracial, multi-ethnic superpower in the world,” Rep. Rohit Khanna (D-CA) told the New York Times in March 2022. “It will be an extraordinary achievement … We will ultimately triumph,” he boasted.

But the progressives’ colonialism-like economic strategy kills many migrants. It exploits the poverty of migrants and splits foreign families as it extracts human resources from poor home countries to serve wealthy U.S. investors.

Progressives hide this Extraction Migration economic policy behind a wide variety of noble-sounding explanations and theatrical border security programs. Progressives claim that the U.S. is a “Nation of Immigrants,” that migration helps migrants, and that the state must renew itself by replacing populations.

Similarly, establishment Republicans, media businesses, and major GOP donors hide the skew towards investors by ignoring the pocketbook impact and by touting border chaos, welfare spending, migrant crime, and drug smuggling.

Many polls show the public wants to welcome some immigration. But the polls also show deep and broad public opposition to labor migration and the inflow of temporary contract workers into jobs needed by young U.S. graduates.

This “Third Rail” opposition is growinganti-establishmentmultiracialcross-sexnon-racistclass-based,  bipartisanrationalpersistent, and recognizes the solidarity that American citizens owe to one another.

NPR Poll: 54% of Americans Agree Biden’s Border Crisis an ‘Invasion’ — Including 40% of Democrats

A majority of Americans say President Joe Biden is allowing a southern border invasion, according to a poll commissioned by the left-of-center, taxpayer-supported National Public Radio (NPR)

The 54 percent “Invasion” majority includes 76 percent of Republicans, 46 percent of independents, and even 40 percent of Democrats.

Just 19 percent of all respondents — or one in five — said the term is false.

Joel Rose, a pro-migration NPR journalist, lamented the mainstream 3:1 public judgment revealed by the July 28-29 survey of 1,116 adults, saying:

Republican leaders are increasingly framing the situation as an “invasion.” Immigrant advocates say the word has a long history in white nationalist circles, and warn that such extreme rhetoric could provoke more violence against immigrants.

Still, the polling shows that the word “invasion” has been embraced by a wide range of Americans to describe what’s happening at the border

“We are not actually screening enough people to make it safe for the rest of the country,” said poll respondent Michael Cisternino, a Republican from Nevada, in a follow-up interview. “We, the people of the United States, really don’t have control over who’s coming in, and where they’re going or what they’re going to do when they get there — if they’re criminals, if they’re not criminals,” Cisternino said.

Many migrants also credit Biden for the inflow. “He promised the Haitian community he will help them,” one migrant told Fox News in June 2022., adding: “He will recall Title 42. He will help us have real asylum.”

The Ipsos poll may understate the public’s view of Biden’s migration as an “invasion” because many respondents claimed ignorance or hid their views. For example, 36 percent of independents and 25 percent of Democrats said they “Don’t know” when asked about the invasion term.

The polling firm, Ipsos, claimed the data shows how “misleading information or politically charged rhetoric about immigration has taken root among a significant portion of the American public.”

The poll was taken as Biden’s inflow approaches three million economic migrants.

That tide of workers, consumers, and renters includes 2 million who were admitted under a variety of legal pretexts, plus roughly one million who sneaked past the distracted border guards. The flood is likely to help suppress wages for ordinary Americans, and also drive up rents and inflation.

In December, the Supreme Court will hear arguments that Biden and his deputies are willfully ignoring their obligation to detain job-seeking border crossers. The laws include 8 U.S.C. §§ 1226(c)(1), 1231(a)(2), and 1231(a)(1)(A), which say the attorney general “shall take into custody,” “shall detain,” and “shall remove” migrants.

However, the establishment media has tried to minimize coverage of the migration, For example, the Ipsos poll showed that only 48 percent of all respondents — and 38 percent of Democrats — understood that “The number of migrant apprehensions at the southern border was higher in 2021 than ever before.”

The data breakout in the Ipsos poll showed that 28 percent of all respondents said the invasion term is “Completely true.” That group includes 12 percent of Democrats, 51 percent of Republicans, and 24 percent of independents.

Another 25 percent said the term is “Somewhat true.” That group includes 29 percent of Democrats, 26 percent of Republicans, and 18 percent of independents.

The GOP majority which endorses the “invasion” term includes some who know that former President Donald Trump has been using the term. “We must stop the invasion at our southern border,” Trump said in August to loud applause at a CPAC event in Texas. The fix, he added, is for a GOP majority to cut off funding:

Republicans in Congress must make clear that on their watch not a single penny of taxpayer money will go to funding Joe Biden’s open border agenda. It’s a sick agenda. It’s a sick agenda. Makes no sense … Next year we have to use the purse strings to send a message to every would-be illegal alien all over the world. If you break into our country illegally you will be caught, we will detain you and we will quickly send you back to the place from which you came or put you in prison

But Trump’s opinion cannot be used to explain why 40 percent of Democrats favor the invasion term, according to the poll results.

Strangely, the poll asked respondents just one question about the pocketbook impact of Biden’s mass migration: “When jobs are scarce, employers should prioritize hiring people of this country over immigrants[?]”  Forty-eight percent agreed, and 15 percent disagreed, including 23 percent of Democrats.

Biden’s two-year inflow is an economic shock equal to the number of Americans who entered the workforce during the first nine months of 2022.

The poll also showed that 71 percent of Republicans and 44 percent of independents believe the migration is a “major problem. Just 31 percent of Democrats described it as a major problem.

The Trump-created, Biden-canceled “Remain in Mexico” program is very popular. Fifty-seven percent of all respondents favoring a policy that “Requiring asylum seekers at the southern U.S. border to remain in Mexico until an immigration court can hear their case.” Just 25 percent opposed the plan.

Extraction Migration

Wall Street is built on Extraction Migration. The policy extracts human material — migrants — from poor countries and uses them as workers, renters, and consumers to shift vast wealth from ordinary people to billionaires and Wall St.

Since at least 1990, the D.C. establishment has extracted tens of millions of legal and illegal migrants — plus temporary visa workers — from poor countries to serve as workers, managers, consumers, and renters for various U.S. investors and CEOs.

This policy of labor inflation makes it difficult for ordinary Americans to advance in their careers, get married, raise families, or buy homes.

Extraction migration slows innovation and shrinks Americans’ productivity, partly because it allows employers to boost stock prices by using cheap stoop labor instead of productivity-boosting technology.  The flood of cheap labor tilts the economy towards low-productivity jobs and has shoved at least ten million American men out of the labor force.

Migration undermines employees’ workplace rights, and it widens the regional wealth gaps between the Democrats’ big coastal states and the Republicans’ heartland and southern states.

An economy built on extraction migration also drains Americans’ political clout over elites, alienates young people, and radicalizes Americans’ democratic civic culture because it allows wealthy elites to ignore despairing Americans at the bottom of society.

The economic policy is backed by progressives who wish to transform the U.S. from a society governed by European-origin civic culture into a progressive-directed empire of competitive, resentful identity groups. “We’re trying to become the first multiracial, multi-ethnic superpower in the world,” Rep. Rohit Khanna (D-CA) told the New York Times in March 2022. “It will be an extraordinary achievement … we will ultimately triumph,” he boasted.

The progressives’ colonialism-like economic strategy kills many migrants. It exploits the poverty of migrants and splits foreign families as it extracts human resources from poor home countries to serve wealthy U.S. investors. This migration policy also minimizes shareholder pressure on U.S. companies to build up beneficial and complementary trade with people in poor countries.

Business-backed progressive advocates hide this Extraction Migration economic policy behind a wide variety of noble-sounding explanations and theatrical border security programs. Progressives claim that the U.S. is a “Nation of Immigrants,” that migration is good for migrants, and that the state must renew itself by replacing populations.

Establishment Republicans and major GOP donors hide the wealth shift towards investors by amplifying the conservative media coverage of border chaos, welfare spending, migrant crime, and drugs.

Many polls show the public wants to welcome some immigration — but they also show deep and broad public opposition to labor migration and the inflow of temporary contract workers into jobs sought by young U.S. graduates.

This “Third Rail” opposition is growinganti-establishmentmultiracialcross-sexnon-racistclass-based,  bipartisanrationalpersistent, and recognizes the solidarity that American citizens owe to one another.

In a society already beset with self-doubt and disquiet about the future, they gaslighted the populace through the gross and near-criminal exaggeration of the threat of Covid-19, combined with manipulated data, unprecedented societal and economic lockdowns, social distancing, mandatory masking and now de facto vaccination passports. Joe Biden's Susan Rice: Alejandro Mayorkas

By Monica Showalter

It's one thing for doddering Joe Biden to utter something inchoate about the border crisis he himself created, but quite another when a sane person comes out to explain and justify the same senile fact-free gibberings as something normal.

Which brings us to Homeland Security chief Alejandro Mayorkas, who was sent out by the White House to do the Sunday talks, in what's obviously the same role that Susan Rice played in the Benghazi days of 2012. He's the designated liar.

Here he is, on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace, via YouTube:

Here he is on CNN, with Jake Tapper, via YouTube:

While he's unflappable, he isn't quite as good a liar as Rice was, given that he laid out a lot of damning facts, calmly and coolly, apparently in the vain hope that his demeanor would entice the press to simply glide on by with those facts as something normal.

To wit, we learned that contrary to what the Biden administration told us earlier about "mass deportations," more than 10,000 illegal border crossers, many at that squalid encampment in Del Rio, Texas, have not all been deported back to Haiti (as the administration claimed earlier). They've been released into the U.S., some with court dates, some with requests to get court dates, all of whom are free to move about the country

"Approximately, I think it's about ten thousand or so, twelve thousand," Mayorkas told "Fox News Sunday."

"It could be even higher," Mayorkas said. "The number that are returned could be even higher. What we do is we follow the law as Congress has passed it."

He justifies it as simply following the law, effectively converting the Border Patrol into an escort service for tens of thousands of illegal border crossers, with the occasional one picked out for deportation photos to presumably keep the Sunday talks and discontented independent voters driving Biden's poll numbers down happy.

The numbers that Mayorkas said were returned came to about 3,000 thus far, but he made sure to say that number could be higher. Question: If 12,000 have already been released into the interior of the U.S., where is he going to get the 'higher' number of migrants to send back, supposedly on Title 42 COVID concerns?

The released migrants of course have no COVID concerns to worry about. We learn that none of other 12,000, or 14,000 or however many it may be, have been tested for COVID - (or measles, leprosy, leishmaniasis, mumps, tuberculosis, malaria or the whole host tropical diseases they may be bringing in with them) - as Mayorkas sent them on their way into the U.S. interior on other grounds. Masks for your two year-old, proof of vaxx from you as you try to buy groceries or ride a plane, but no testing at all for unvetted foreign nationals entering the country illegally in search the best benefit packages.

Mayorkas kept justifying it as following the law, on the grounds that all 12,000 of them, most of them previously classed as refugees from 2010 and settled in reasonably decent countries such as Chile and Brazil, are in dire need of asylum and each should be free to make his or her case.

Wallace pointed out that some 30,000 more were in the pipeline for this kind of 'asylum' processing, and the good result the first batch of asylum-seekers got, entering the U.S. illegally and being allowed to stay, certainly would serve to notify the others. According to Gallup, some 158 million people worldwide are interested in moving to the United States, so the pipeline may be very long, but that instant relief, instant papers, and instant escort service on the spot from the Border Patrol now, ultimately led by Mayorkas, certainly should make illegal entry more attractive than legal entry, particularly for people with few skills, low education, zero knowledge of the English language, or a criminal record or two.

The Border Patrol, see, is an escort service, he pretty well said. Asked about the "patently false" as Jake Tapper put it, narrative about Border Patrol agents on horses using "whips" (which ignorant reporters confused with split reins used in rough roadless terrain to keep horses from strangling on brush) to supposedly beat migrants illegally entering the country, Mayorkas was particularly bad. The Border Patrol agents, he suggested to Wallace, were "individual persons" acting in their own capacity rather than standard agents acting according to their training. He made gushy comments praising the Border Patrol as a whole, but these guys, he effectively explained, were bad apples, kind of like Derek Chauvin.

He got worse when he was asked by both Tapper and Wallace about how these agents now under professional investigation could expect to be judged fairly given that Joe Biden had already declared, Queen of Hearts-style, that "those people will pay." He refused to answer Tapper's question as to who ordered the agents to the river crossing where illegals were pouring into the U.S., and then said the only purpose for the mounted patrols was to "gather information and sometimes help people." Apparently, they were supposed to help the foreign nationals illegally entering our country in, instead of protect the border.

Mayorkas demonstrated that he was one cool, slippery character, someone who packages the wide open border as normal now and something to get used to, He repeatedly downplayed the extent of the crisis even as both Wallace and Tapper tried to bring the surge in numbers up. He admitted that more than tens of thousands were let in, not sent back, and then insisted that the Border Patrol was now a migrant escort service.

Then in his contentment, he declared the immigration system "broken" as if he were not the guy who broke it.

What kind of a smooth liar and charlatan is this? He's obviously the designated liar, the spin master, the normalizer of the crazy. What a valuable guy he is for Joe Biden. And what a disaster for the country.

The United States and the West are in the Grip of Delusional Madness

By Steve McCann

The politically motivated and unprecedented overreaction to a virus with a 99.5% survival rate was launched in March of 2020, thus unleashing what can best be described as a once-in-a-century fiasco. Nineteen months later it is impossible to look at the United States and the world and not conclude that this country and much of the West is in the grip, not of a virus, but of delusional madness and malevolence.

The governing elites have been so successful in propagandizing and fear-mongering the populace in many western nations, including the United States, that the virus has made far too many people blind to the madness as they wallow in anxiety, depression, and hopelessness -- deliberately and with forethought brought about by these malevolent cabals.

The noted British historian Kenneth Clark in his book and television series Civilisation said that empires fall not just to barbarians and other external enemies, but more so on account of exhaustion and loss of confidence within.  He warned of the evolutionary process of destruction of self-confidence leading to exhaustion and culminating in the feeling of hopelessness which can overtake people even with a high degree of material prosperity. As any civilized nation, in order to survive, requires confidence in the society in which one lives as well as belief in its philosophy and in its laws and confidence in one’s own mental powers.

In the United States, the left-wing dominated ruling class, determined to transform the nation into a one-party oligarchy, has long focused on demoralizing and fomenting hopelessness among the American people so they would be amenable to this transformation. Thus, exacerbating the feeling of hopelessness among the citizenry.

At the height of the pandemic hysteria in the fall of 2020, 36% of Americans reported symptoms of anxiety disorder (in 2019, 6.5% of Americans reported anxiety disorder). In this same period, 42% of Americans reported anxiety or depressive disorder (in 2019, 10.8% of Americans reported these disorders). The age group 18-39 (30% of the overall U.S. population) had the highest reported levels of anxiety or depressive disorder-- 52%.

The manipulation of the public by the ruling class and its media arm has succeeded as nearly half of the overall American population and a majority of the Millennials (America’s most populous generation) are suffering from anxiety or depressive disorders, which inevitably leads to hopelessness.

Having wildly succeeded in fomenting despair, the ruling establishment cannot stop or curtail their tactics as they cannot risk the American people awakening from or becoming aware of their malevolence and delusional madness. Thus, the never-ending Covid-19 falsehoods and fearmongering in order to maintain and exacerbate anxiety and depression.

Having demoralized and created hopelessness among the bulk of the population, the next step for the ruling elites was to remove Donald Trump, install their hand-picked puppet and control Congress. Using the cover of the pandemic, they unabashedly, and in many cases unconstitutionally, altered the election laws in swing states to accommodate massive voter fraud and buried any negative stories about Joe Biden and his family while censoring the alternative media.  Thus, unleashing their delusional madness for all the world to see.

The United States is the latest country in a long history dating back to 330 B.C. to leave bloody footprints on the way out of Afghanistan. The incomprehensible tactics in this exit, as executed by Biden and the ruling establishment, has destabilized the world and made it significantly more dangerous than before. Their imbecility in believing the Taliban will be responsible stewards of Afghanistan will precipitate another horror show playing out not only in Afghanistan but throughout the West and in the United States.

BLOG EDITOR: AMERICANS ELECT TO BE 'JOBLESS' SIMPLY BECAUSE JOBS GO FIRST TO 'CHEAP' LABOR ILLEGALS AND AMERICANS (LEGALS) REFUSE TO BE PART OF THE CORPORATE SLAVE CLASS CREATED BY THE GLOBALIST DEMOCRAT PARTY'S OPEN BORDERS AGENDA

The fatuous and Marxist-inspired ruling class believes that unlimited spending on social programs and unbridled money creation will sustain and expand an economy. Consequently, millions of able-bodied Americans are choosing to remain unemployed thanks to ever more generous welfare and unemployment, thus, permanently shuttering businesses throughout the country and severely undermining the economy.  As an inevitable byproduct, inflation is also running rampant.  Yet, these myopic loons are determined to spend $5 Trillion in new welfare and “Green New Deal” programs.  Monies the nation does not have, and which will accelerate yet more inflation and ultimate stagflation leading to a potential global recession/depression.

On the now non-existent southern border, having created one humanitarian disaster in Afghanistan, their madcap policies have deliberately created another and quite different humanitarian disaster, one made of unchecked illegal immigration. Allowing terrorist, murderers and sex-traffickers unfettered passage into the country and millions access to welfare, education, health care and low-income jobs.  Thus, displacing Americans, further exacerbating economic decline, creating potential health crises and accelerating societal upheaval.

The ruling elites, in their irrationality, have decreed eight-year-olds can choose their gender, take on a new name and use which ever toilets they want -- and mom and dad don’t get to hear a word about it.  Nor do mom and dad have a say in whether their children must wear potentially harmful masks or be vaccinated with an experimental vaccine or be taught in school that those with white skin are genetically predestined to be oppressors and those with dark skin are hopelessly doomed to be oppressed, or that the planet will self-immolate within 10 years because of the lifestyles of their moms and dads.

The madness is in other countries in the West. In the Australian state of Victoria, they are firing rubber bullets into crowds of protestors as well as physically attacking and jailing them without trial.  Australia and New Zealand have almost totally shuttered their countries and in at least one place built a “quarantine camps.”  Many nations have initiated vaccine passport schemes to keep the unvaccinated -- the unclean -- out of the mainstream of society, precipitating the closure of vital medical facilities and security services due to lack of staffing.

It is not the Chinese Coronavirus that will be the undoing of this or any western country. They (we) will be undone -- and are being undone now -- by the madness and malevolence of their ruling classes.

Many Americans and citizens in other Western nations know what is happening is wrong and will lead to chaos and a dark place. Yet far too many are fearful of being shouted down, ostracized and censored for saying so. But that cannot be an excuse to remain quiet -- on the contrary, that must be the inspiration to speak out in every forum available from one’s family, to one’s neighborhood, to one’s town, to one’s state.

This can be fixed, and a nation restored, if enough join together stand up and emulate Howard Beale in the classic movie Network and shout from the rooftops: “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore.”

NAFTA at 25: Nearly 5M American Manufacturing Jobs Lost, Stagnant Wages

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/01/16/nafta-at-25-nearly-5m-american-manufacturing-jobs-lost-stagnant-wages/

As the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) turns 25 this year, American manufacturing jobs and U.S. workers’ wages continue trying to come back after more than a decade of massive layoffs and stagnant pay.

During its enactment, free trade proponents claimed NAFTA would create a million U.S. jobs in its first five years. Not only did these job numbers never come to fruition, but NAFTA has more easily allowed multinational corporations to outsource and offshore American jobs to Canada and Mexico.

“I believe that NAFTA will create 200,000 American jobs in the first two years of its effect … I believe that NAFTA will create a million jobs in the first five years of its impact,” former President Bill Clinton said in 1993.

Instead, nearly a million American jobs have been certified by the federal government as being lost directly due to NAFTA, according to data gathered by Public Citizen. These are only the U.S. jobs that the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program recognizes as being lost to free trade and does not indicate the actual number of jobs lost.

For example, free trade with Mexico, alone, has eliminated at least 700,000 American jobs as states in the Rust Belt have been hit the hardest. Those states and the number of American workers impacted include:

· 14,500 American workers displaced in Wisconsin

· 43,600 American workers displaced in Michigan

· 2,600 American workers displaced in West Virginia

· 26,300 American workers displaced in Pennsylvania

· 34,900 American workers displaced in Ohio

· 34,300 American workers displaced in New York

· 6,500 American workers displaced in Iowa

· 24,400 American workers displaced in Indiana

· 34,700 American workers displaced in Illinois

As trade deficits have soared nearly 600 percent since NAFTA’s enactment, close to five million American manufacturing jobs were eliminated from the U.S. economy, encompassing the net shuttering of nearly 50,000 U.S. manufacturing facilities. This is a combined outcome from the U.S. entering NAFTA and entering the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 1995, as well as China entering the WTO in 2000.

Since 1994, California has lost more than 400,000 American jobs. Meanwhile, New York saw nearly 400,000 American jobs eliminated since 1994 and Texas’s economy eliminated close to 85,000 U.S. jobs.

(Public Citizen)

Most famously, the state of West Virginia has been enormously crippled by free trade and multilateral trade deals like NAFTA. One former steel town in West Virginia lost 94 percent of its steel jobs because of NAFTA, with nearly 10,000 workers in the town being displaced from the steel industry.

A worker in West Virginia told The Independent that the job creation promises of free traders have failed to ever replace the high-paying jobs lost to NAFTA.

“They talk about creating all these jobs,” he said. “But they’re just retail jobs that pay minimum wage, or just above.”

When it comes to U.S. wages, NAFTA has had a similar impact. As of 2017, about two out of every five American manufacturing workers who lost their jobs to NAFTA had their wages cut, Bureau of Labor Statistics data reveals.

“About one out of every four took a pay cut of greater than 20 percent,” Public Citizen’s analysis concludes. “For the average worker earning the median manufacturing wage of $39,500 per year, this meant an annual loss of at least $7,900.”

At the same time, billionaire corporate executives have enjoyed 15 times the wage growth compared to America’s bottom 90 percent since 1979, when America’s middle class was earning on average about $29,600 a year. Today, they are earning only about $6,600 more annually.

(Public Citizen)

Between 1979 and 2017, the wages of the bottom 90 percent — the country’s working and lower middle class — have grown by only about 22 percent, Economic Policy Institute (EPI) researchers find.

Compare that small wage increase over nearly four decades to the booming wage growth of America’s top one percent, who have seen their wages grow more than 155 percent during the same period.

The top 0.01 percent — the country’s billionaire class — saw their wages grow by more than 343 percent in the last four decades, more than 15 times the wage growth of the bottom 90 percent of Americans.

NAFTA and free trade proponents also claimed that mass illegal immigration to the U.S. from Mexico would slow because the trade agreement would lead to better working conditions in that country.

The promise, though, did not pan out. Between 1995 and 2008, illegal border crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border averaged more than a million a year. Current trends of illegal immigration at the southern border indicate that illegal border crossings will hit the highest level in a decade, potentially totaling 600,000.

Joe Biden Faces Backlash Over NAFTA Support Ahead of Michigan Primary

Former Vice President Joe Biden is facing backlash over his decades-long support for the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) as he campaigns across Michigan ahead of the state’s Democrat primary.

Biden, who often touts his support from organized labor on the campaign trail, was met by protesters on Monday at rally in Detroit. As the former vice president was speaking, a number of individuals unfurled two giant banners, one of which read ‘NAFTA killed our jobs.’ The individuals, some of whom identified as union members, began chanting “Biden killed jobs,” forcing the former vice president to pause and address the disruption.

“That’s alright, let them go,” Biden said, as supporters and security attempted to pressure the protesters to stand down. “Let them go, this is not a Trump rally. The ‘Bernie Bros’ are here, let them go.”

When the crowd subsided and the protesters were escorted out, Biden used the opportunity to take a shot at both President Donald Trump and his rival for the Democrat nomination, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

“I’m not worried about it, it’s just a reflection of what’s wrong with American politics today,” the former vice president said. “This is one of the things that Donald Trump has generated, this is not who we are … as a party … or as a people. We have a lot of crazy folks around.”

The altercation in Detroit comes as Biden’s long-standing support for free trade takes center stage as the primary contest heads into Michigan. Sanders, who is hoping that a win in the state can restart his flailing presidential campaign, is hammering hard on the issue. In tv ads and on the stump, the Vermont septuagenerian has lambasted Biden for his support of NAFTA and the other free trade agreements, claiming that if Democrats were to nominate someone with such a record, it would essentially mean surrendering the industrial Midwest to Republicans.

“Does anybody think that Joe can go to Michigan or Wisconsin or Indiana or Minnesota and say, ‘Vote for me. I voted for those terrible trade deals,” Sanders said during a recent rally.

The strategy is one that has worked in the past for the senator. During his 2016 bid for the Democrat presidential nomination, Sanders was able to score upset victories over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by emphasizing his opposition to free trade, specifically then-President Barack Obama’s Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement.

Sanders’ message was particularly potent in Michigan, where the burden of free trade has been most pronounced. Since NAFTA was first implemented in 1994, Michigan lost more than 168,000 manufacturing jobs to countries overseas, most notably Mexico. The impact was felt most heavily by white working-class voters, many of whom lack a college degree.

In 2016, such voters overwhelmingly backed Sanders in Michigan’s Democrat primary, handing the senator a narrow victory over Clinton. The results were surprising, not only because Sanders was coming off devastating losses in South Carolina and Super Tuesday, but also because most polls heading into the contest had shown the former secretary of state winning heavily. Sanders ‘victory in Michigan, along with further wins in Wisconsin and Minnesota, foreshadowed the difficulty Clinton would have in keeping such states in the Democrat column in November 2016.

Biden, for his part, seems to understand that history and the detriment posed by his support for free trade. Even before the 2020 Democratic field winnowed to a head-to-head matchup with Sanders, the former vice president had already begun distancing himself from his prior stance on the topic. During a Democrat presidential debate in July 2019, Biden admitted that he would not rejoin TPP if elected president. The move was surprising given that the former vice president had once touted the deal’s ability to forge a “new world order” where open markets would force even countries such as China to reform and prosper. Biden built from that reversal at a another debate in August, when he further promised to oppose a “new NAFTA” agreement after being badgered on the issue by rivals.

Monday’s protests in Detroit, though, indicate that Biden’s prior championing of free trade is unlikely to be forgotten, especially by supporters of Sanders. Complicating matters for the former vice president is that Trump, himself, appears poised to continue hammering away on the issue if Biden were to become the Democrat nominee.

“Joe Biden made a deal, NAFTA,” the president said last week during a campaign rally in Scranton, Pennsylvania. “He approved it, he was pushing it. It’s the worst trade deal ever made.

FlashbackBiden: U.S. Needs More H-1B Foreign Workers for Corporations

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/06/17/flashback-biden-u-s-needs-more-h-1b-foreign-workers-for-corporations/

JOHN BINDER

In 2013, then-Vice President Joe Biden advocated for bringing more H-1B foreign visa workers to the United States to compete against American graduates and professionals in high-paying science, technology, and engineering jobs.

Biden told attendees of the Export-Import Bank’s 2013 Annual Conference that not only did the U.S. need to bring more H-1B foreign visa workers to the country for corporations, but that foreign students graduating from American universities should “literally” be given green cards to permanently stay in the U.S.

Biden said:

We also think its essential to reform the immigration system. Every year … our university system generates roughly 40,000 people with PhDs and master degrees in areas of science and technology that we need and we make sure that they’re promptly escorted back to their country. At the very same time, we’re spending hundreds of millions of dollars on STEM education. It makes no sense in my humble opinion. [Emphasis added]

Sending them back to their country denies them a visa even when they have a job waiting for them. Instead of sending them home, we should be a stamping a green card on their diploma as they walk across the stage. Literally, I mean this literally, not figuratively, literally. If they have a job here, they should be able to stay here. We should want them here. [Emphasis added]

Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve also proposed adding additional H-1B visas so that American employers can hire the best and the brightest no matter where they come from if they can’t be found here. [Emphasis added]

Every year, more than 100,000 foreign workers are brought to the U.S. on the H-1B visa and are allowed to stay for up to six years. There are about 650,000 H-1B visa foreign workers in the U.S. at any given moment. Americans are often laid off in the process and forced to train their foreign replacements, as highlighted by Breitbart News. Nearly 70 percent of all H-1B visas are rewarded to Indian nationals.

More than 85,000 Americans annually potentially lose their jobs to foreign labor through the H-1B visa program. Oftentimes, importing a foreign worker on the H-1B visa is the first step in a multinational corporations’ effort to outsource the American job, as the foreign worker arrives in the U.S., is trained in the job, and then is eventually sent back overseas with the job.

While Biden advocated for more labor market competition against America’s professionals and graduates, foreign workers have already crowded out Americans in the tech hub of Silicon Valley, California.

Center for Immigration Studies@CIS_org

“We have no voice in Washington,” said one American mother and STEM worker who was replaced by an H-1B. “There are 500 lobbyists for Big Tech, for cheap labor via the H-1B, L-1, OPT, and H4 EAD programs. Who wants to hear from us?”https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/05/05/americans-replaced-by-foreign-h-1bs-theres-no-shortage-of-u-s-workers/ … via @JxhnBinder

Americans Replaced by H-1B Visas: 'There's No Shortage' of U.S. Workers

Americans who've been laid off and forced to train their foreign H-1B visa replacements say there is "no shortage" of qualified U.S. workers.

breitbart.com

66 people are talking about this

Analysis conducted last year reveal that 71 percent of tech workers in Silicon Valley are foreign-born, while the tech industry in the San Francisco, Oakland, and Hayward area is made up of 50 percent foreign-born tech workers.

Last year, U.S. businesses and corporations attempted to outsource nearly 420,000 American jobs to foreigners through the H-1B visa program — a number that outpaces the population of Tampa, Florida.

As Breitbart News previously reported, more than 2.7 million H-1B foreign workers have been approved to come to the U.S. to take American jobs between 2007 and 2017. During that same period, businesses tried to outsource almost 3.5 million American jobs to foreign workers instead of hiring Americans.

About four million young Americans enter the workforce each year, many looking for white-collar jobs in the STEM fields. Those Americans’ prospects of finding work are crippled by the country’s legal immigration process, which admits more than 1.5 million immigrants and hundreds of thousands of foreign visa workers annually.

Watch–Josh Hawley Rips ‘Aristocratic Elite’ for Engineering U.S. Economy Against American Middle Class

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/05/16/watch-josh-hawley-rips-aristocratic-elite-for-engineering-u-s-economy-against-american-middle-class/

JOHN BINDER

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) ripped what he called the country’s “new aristocratic elite” for engineering the United States economy against the American middle class.

For his first major speech on the Senate floor, Hawley slammed the “big banks, big tech, big multi-national corporations, along with their allies in the academy and the media,” whom he said have created an economic structure in which they, the well-connected, benefit while the American working and middle class increasingly struggle to get ahead.

Hawley said:

The chattering class often tells us that all of this—the jobs, the despair, the loss of standing—is the result of forces beyond anyone’s control. As if that’s an excuse to do nothing. But in fact, it’s not true. [Emphasis added]

Today’s society benefits those who shaped it, and it has been shaped not by working men and women, but by the new aristocratic eliteBig banks, big tech, big multi-national corporations, along with their allies in the academy and the media—these are the aristocrats of our age. They live in the United States, but they consider themselves citizens of the world. [Emphasis added]

They operate businesses or run universities here, but their primary loyalty is to their own agenda for a more unified, progressive—and profitable—global order. These modern aristocrats often claim to be a meritocracy. And many of them truly believe they are. What they don’t see, or won’t acknowledge, is that the society they have built works mainly for themselves. They’ve effectively run this country for decades. And their legacy is national division and national decline. [Emphasis added]

Defending the needs of the American middle class against a growingly powerful “aristocratic elite” is the “crisis of our time,” Hawley asserted.

“After years of sacrifice, the great American middle is being pushed aside by a new, arrogant aristocracy,” Hawley said. “The new aristocrats seek to remake society in their own image: to engineer an economy that works for the elite but few else, to fashion a culture that is dominated by their own preferences.”

“This town has embraced a politics of elite values and elite ambition rather than building opportunities to thrive in the great and broad American middle. This has left middle America—the great American middle class—under siege: battling the loss of respect and work, the decline of home and family, an epidemic of loneliness and despair,” Hawley continued. “This is the crisis of our time.”

Specifically, Hawley blasted multinational corporations for outsourcing American middle class jobs overseas — wreaking economic, cultural, and social havoc on rural and small town American communities in the process — and both political establishments for treating American citizens as mere consumers.

“In places like the one where I grew up, in middle Missouri, good-paying jobs that you can raise a family on are going away,” Hawley said. “The jobs go overseas or south of the border or to cities on the coasts. And once-vibrant towns decline, taking with them the network of schools and neighborhoods and churches that make up middle class life.”

Hawley continued:

Rural America has been particularly hard hit. Rural Americans’ life expectancy has not just leveled off, its actually dropped, and for women without a high school degree, that drop has been staggering. In some rural places, residents struggle with outright deprivation. [Emphasis added]

My home state contains some of the poorest counties in America, all in rural places that once boasted thriving small towns. As those communities struggle, want sets in. But the crisis reaches well beyond economics. [Emphasis added]

The message that Washington has sent our whole society is loud and clear: our elites are the people who matter—and those who aspire to join them. Everyone else is unimportant or backwards. And millions of Americans are left with the sense that the people who run this country view them with nothing but contempt and value them as nothing but consumers. [Emphasis added]

Indeed, working and middle class Americans have been hit the hardest from decades-long political consensus between the Republican establishment and Democrats.

Recent research revealed that while coastal, elite metropolis cities have flourished in the last decade, small town and rural American communities have suffered depopulation, mass job loss, and continued economic strain since the Great Recession.

For instance, by 2016, elite zip codes had a surplus of 3.6 million jobs, which is more than the combined bottom 80 percent of American zip codes. While it only took about five years for wealthy cities to replace the jobs lost by the recession, it took “at risk” regions of the country a decade to recover, and “distressed” U.S. communities are “unlikely ever to recover on current trendlines,” the report predicts.

Economic growth among the country’s middle-class counties and middle-class zip codes has considerably trailed national economic growth. For example, between 2012 and 2016, there were 4.4 percent more business establishments in the country as a whole. That growth was less than two percent in the median zip code and there was close to no growth in the median county.

While America’s working and middle class have been subjected to compete for jobs against a constant flow of cheaper foreign workers — where more than 1.2 million mostly low-skilled immigrants are admitted to the country annually — the billionaire class has experienced historic salary gains.

A study by the Economic Policy Institute found that the country’s top 0.01 percent have enjoyed more than 15 times as much wage growth as the bottom 90 percent of wage earners. Between 1979 and 2017, working and middle class Americans’ wages grew by only 22 percent. On the other hand, the plutocrat class saw their salaries grow by more than 155 percent over the same period.

Likewise, free trade deals like NAFTA — supported by Republicans and Democrats — as well as China’s entering the World Trade Organization (WTO) has eliminated nearly five million American manufacturing jobs across the country, devastating steel towns and U.S. autoworkers. One former steel town in West Virginia lost 94 percent of its steel jobs because of NAFTA, with nearly 10,000 workers in the town being displaced from the steel industry.

American Workers Wouldn’t Stand A Chance With Bygone Joe Biden

When President Trump promised to bring back American manufacturing, he wasn’t just talking about union workers. He was describing an economic agenda that benefits all workers.

According to the latest figures from the Labor Department, the manufacturing sector just posted its biggest wage gains in over a decade — a clear sign that the President’s economic policies are making a real difference for working families.

The employment cost index, which measures employee wages and benefits, rose by 0.9 percent for the manufacturing sector in the first quarter of 2019, with salaries and wages increasing by a full percentage point — even faster than the value of job-related benefits.

The last time manufacturing wages rose so much in a single quarter was in 2008, when wages also rose 1.0 percent between January and March.

Those wage gains are impressive, but they’re not surprising. Over the past two years, America has experienced an historic economic boom marked by the lowest unemployment rate in half a century, fueled by a pro-growth agenda that includes major middle-class tax cuts, deregulation, and targeted counter-tariffs to protect American workers against unfair trade practices by foreign competitors.

As a direct result of this effective economic strategy, labor productivity is also increasing at a faster rate than it has in almost 10 years.

Between the surging value of American workers and the fact that there are now more job openings than job seekers, last quarter’s wage gains were practically inevitable.

As remarkable as our recent economic progress has been, however, the Democrats want to eliminate President Trump’s policies and replace them with a radical agenda that would return us to the lethargic economy of the Obama years.

Democrat presidential frontrunner Joe Biden, for instance, is reviving decades-old liberal appeals to labor unions, declaring that his economic agenda will champion big labor.

“I make no apologies: I am a union man, period,” Biden told members of the Teamsters union, arguing that “the American middle class was built … by unions.”

While it’s true that unions played a key role in America’s economic development a century ago, circumstances have changed dramatically since Franklin Roosevelt’s day. Industries that used to be dominated by unions, such as manufacturing and construction, are increasingly dependent on non-union labor, necessitating a more comprehensive approach to economic policy that looks out for the interests of all workers.

President Trump adopted just such an approach, focusing his efforts on unleashing the potential of American workers and businesses by removing government-imposed impediments such as high tax rates and unnecessary regulations, rather than trying to use the federal government to pick winners and losers.

As a result, wages are growing significantly faster for nonunion workers in goods-producing industries — in the manufacturing sector, for instance, wages increased 1.1 percent for nonunion workers last quarter, but only 0.4 percent for unionized employees.

While Trump’s innovative economic agenda is designed to improve the lives of all American workers by sparking private sector growth, Biden and his fellow Democrats are stuck in an outdated way of thinking that views certain kinds of workers as more important than others. That’s exactly why the 2020 election is about more than just determining who wins the presidency — it’s about defending our newfound prosperity from those who seek to take it away.

Across the board, American workers are winning thanks to President Trump’s economic policies. Biden’s pro-union agenda is just an outdated relic of a bygone era. Workers wouldn’t stand a chance with bygone Joe Biden.

1993 Joe Biden Said NAFTA Would Help U.S. Chrysler Workers – Years Later They Were Laid Off

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/05/03/1993-joe-biden-said-nafta-would-help-u-s-chrysler-workers-years-later-they-were-laid-off/

JOHN BINDER

Former Vice President and Senator Joe Biden (D) was one of the earliest cheerleaders for the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which helped to eliminate nearly five million U.S. manufacturing jobs.

During a Senate floor speech in November 1993, Biden said that NAFTA would, specifically, increase jobs and production for American workers employed at Chrysler’s Newark, Delaware plant by opening up the Mexican market.

“Chrysler expects to sell 5,000 more cars to Mexico from their Newark, DE, plant by the end of the decade,” Biden said. “Without NAFTA, Chrysler will have to manufacture more cars in Mexico to meet the requirements of pre-NAFTA laws.”

Years later, in 2007, those American workers at the Newark Chrysler plant were laid off as the plant closed down. At the it’s height, about 5,700 American workers were employed there. When the plant closed, around 700 to 1,100 Americans were left without jobs.

Many of the U.S. workers blamed the unfair foreign competition that they had been subjected to because of free trade and multilateral agreements like NAFTA, which made it easier for corporations to readily outsource American jobs to Mexico.

“Everybody here is mad, upset, the whole gamut of emotions,” a 15-year employee told the Associated Press at the time. “People feel like they got the carpet yanked from underneath them. They feel like there’s really nothing out there for them after this. The economy is really bad, so it’s a hard thing.”

“Half of Congress is buying foreign cars,” another longtime Chrysler worker said. “They should be mandated to buy American cars. If they don’t, how patriotic is that?”

Offshoring production to Mexico has proven cheaper for corporate executives. Where American workers earn $30 an hour, Mexican workers earn about $3 an hour in comparison — a 90 percent cut to wages that has expanded the profit margins of hundreds of former American manufacturers.

Though Biden has routinely claimed that NAFTA created jobs in Delaware and the U.S., NAFTA helped to eliminate nearly 17,000 American jobs due to soaring trade deficits and China’s entering the World Trade Organization (WTO) in his home state. NAFTA, alone, eliminated about 1,200 American jobs in Delaware due to the U.S.-Mexico trade deficit.

Flashback--Joe Biden in 2007: Job-Killing NAFTA 'Not the Problem'

As Breitbart News has chronicled, decades-long free trade deals, NAFTA, and China’s entering the WTO eliminated nearly five million manufacturing jobs across the country since 1994. Free trade advocates, like Biden, claimed at the time that NAFTA would create a million U.S. manufacturing jobs in the first five years.

This week, Biden defended his support, once again, of NAFTA, job-killing free trade negotiations, and his opposition to tariffs on cheap foreign imports.

“I’m proud of my record,” Biden told local media in Iowa.

In 2007, then-Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) defended the job-killing, pro-outsourcing North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) years after voting in support of the free trade deal that ultimately helped lead to the elimination of nearly five million U.S. manufacturing jobs.

During a December 2007 interview with SentinelSource.com, Biden defended his support for NAFTA by claiming that the free trade deal “probably created” more U.S. jobs than those that were lost and said the deal “wasn’t the problem.”

Biden said:

My problem is … I voted for NAFTA. NAFTA in my state created more jobs than it lost jobs coming out of my state. And you can argue that, on balance, it probably created more American jobs than it lost. [Emphasis added]

There was dislocation. Some jobs got lost. Some jobs got created. But, again, NAFTA wasn’t the problem. The problem became when you go beyond what these guys are going, [the Bush administration] and it’s attitude — it’s attitude about … and it’s an intellectually indefensible attitude. [Emphasis added]

In Biden’s home state of Delaware, though, NAFTA helped to eliminate nearly 17,000 American jobs due to soaring trade deficits and China’s entering the World Trade Organization (WTO). NAFTA, alone, eliminated about 1,200 American jobs in Delaware due to the U.S.-Mexico trade deficit.

Biden said, in the same interview, that the U.S. must be engaged in “open trade” while calling himself a “fair trader.”

“This isn’t about saying you can’t … we should not be investing in other parts of the world, this is not saying we should not have open trade,” Biden said. “It just says we should have free and fair trade. I mean, literally, fair trade. And that means you get held to the same standard.”

For example, free trade with Mexico, alone, has eliminated at least 700,000 American jobs, and states in the Rust Belt have been hit the hardest. Those states and the number of American workers impacted include:

· 14,500 American workers displaced in Wisconsin

· 43,600 American workers displaced in Michigan

· 2,600 American workers displaced in West Virginia

· 26,300 American workers displaced in Pennsylvania

· 34,900 American workers displaced in Ohio

· 34,300 American workers displaced in New York

· 6,500 American workers displaced in Iowa

· 24,400 American workers displaced in Indiana

· 34,700 American workers displaced in Illinois

Most famously, the state of West Virginia has been enormously crippled by free trade and multilateral trade deals like NAFTA. One former steel town in West Virginia lost 94 percent of its steel jobs because of NAFTA, with nearly 10,000 workers in the town being displaced from the steel industry.

“They talk about creating all these jobs,” an American worker told The Independent of NAFTA. “But they’re just retail jobs that pay minimum wage, or just above.”

This week, Biden defended his support, once again, of NAFTA, job-killing free trade negotiations, and his opposition to tariffs on cheap foreign imports.

“I’m proud of my record,” Biden told local media in Iowa.

Despite declaring himself a defender of American union workers, Biden’s first fundraiser for his 2020 presidential primary campaign was hosted by a slew of wealthy donors, including attorney Steve Cozen, whose law firm specializes in helping corporations bust up labor unions, as Breitbart News’s Matt Boyle reported.

FlashbackBiden Cozied Up to General Motors CEO Mary Barra: GM is Alive!

Following former President Obama’s billion-dollar American taxpayer bailout of multinational automaker General Motors (GM), then-Vice President Joe Biden (D) cozied up to CEO Mary Barra, who has since laid off thousands of American workers and outsourced their jobs to Mexico and China.

Throughout the 2012 presidential election cycle, Biden routinely claimed that “General Motors is alive” following the Obama administration’s $11 billion taxpayer bailout of the company in 2009.

Years after the bailout, Biden and officials with the Obama administration not only touted Barra’s leadership at GM but invited her to the State of the Union Address in 2014 and took photo-ops with the executive.

Today, Barra is overseeing the layoff of thousands of American workers as GM shifts and increases production in Mexico and China. Barra’s mass layoff effort is stopping production at four of its U.S. plants, including Detroit-Hamtramck and Warren Transmission in Michigan, Lordstown Assembly in Ohio, and Baltimore Operations in Maryland.

While GM was bailed out by U.S. taxpayers, the Obama-Biden scheme came with no commitments for the corporation to stop outsourcing Americans’ jobs overseas.

In 2011, Hoover Institution at Stanford University research fellow Paul Gregory noted that despite the Obama-Biden bailout for GM, the company continued outsourcing American jobs abroad. A 2011 report detailed GM had less than 75,000 jobs left in the U.S. while employing more than 122,000 foreign workers overseas. At the time, nearly two-thirds of GM’s workforce was located abroad.

Rather than stopping GM’s outsourcing, the Obama-Biden scheme focused much of their attention on subsidizing and promoting electric, plug-in cars like the Chevy Volt. Last year, Barra announced that production for the Volt, as well as the Chevy Cruze, would end.

Last month, Barra closed the Lordstown plant, a decision expected to result in the layoff of more than 8,000 American workers in the area, and allegedly blamed the United Auto Workers (UAW) for the plant’s closure. Closing the Lordstown plant resulted in the immediate layoff of about 1,600 American workers and since 2017, GM has laid off about 4,500 American workers in Ohio. Another 900 American workers in supporting industries have been put of out work as well.

After all four plant closures, GM’s Barra is expected to have laid off 14,700 of its workers in the U.S. and Canada.

As Breitbart News has chronicled, American workers and UAW officials have debunked Barra’s claim that the union is at fault for the Lordstown plant closure. Details emerged this month revealing that the UAW accepted nearly $120 million a year in concessions to keep the Lordstown plant open. When workers and UAW officials heard of Barra’s announcement last year, they say they were stunned.

“We did everything they want,” longtime GM worker Sonja Smith told Bloomberg News. “This is their payback.”

Simultaneously, UAW officials have voiced support for Trump in his effort to reopen the Lordstown plant and keep open GM’s other three plants slated for closure by Barra.

Experts have called on Trump to implement a 25 percent auto tariff to protect American auto worker jobs and the U.S. auto industry from Chinese domination. Likewise, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), vying for the Democrat nomination for president, has told Trump to immediately ban GM from receiving federal contracts for their outsourcing, offshoring, and mass layoff scheme.

While GM lays off thousands of American workers this year, its production in Mexico and China is ramping up. Specifically, GM is looking to manufacture an electric Cadillac in China and continue manufacturing its Envision compact vehicle in China.

The made-in-Mexico Chevrolet Blazer will soon arrive in U.S. markets. Last year, GM became the largest automaker in Mexico as it has cut jobs in America and increased production in Mexico.

Offshoring production to Mexico has proven cheaper for GM executives because American workers earn about $30 an hour while Mexican workers earn about $3 an hour, a 90 percent cut to wages that widens the corporation’s profit margins. Meanwhile, Barra continues to earn a salary of about $22 million.

Biden’s first fundraiser for his 2020 presidential primary campaign was hosted by a slew of wealthy donors, including attorney Steve Cozen whose law firm specializes in helping corporations bust up labor unions, as Breitbart News’ Matt Boyle reported.

FlashbackBiden: U.S. Needs More H-1B Foreign Workers for Corporations

Workers

Americans who've been laid off and forced to train their foreign H-1B visa replacements say there is "no shortage" of qualified U.S. workers.

Josh Hawley: Bushs Globalist New World Order’ Has Made the Elites Rich, Eroded Middle Class Way of Life

JOHN BINDER

President George H.W. Bush’s plan for a “New World Order” with global integration of the United States’ economy has made the ruling class richer while eroding “the middle class way of life” in America, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) says.

In an interview on The Realignment podcast, Hawley described how the long-held push by both political establishments to massively globalize the American economy has been at the expense of U.S. workers while the ruling class and their allies in the donor class have profited.

Hawley said:

If I have to give you a sense of the kind of vision that I think voters rejected, President Bush … gave a speech to Congress in 1990 where he talked about a ‘New World Order,’ and he was saying this of the situation in the context with Iraq, but he talked broadly about a ‘New global liberal order’ that of course America would lead, that it would involve America making the world much more like America and the rest of the world kind of blending in with America … and there wouldn’t be the need for hard borders any longer, and we’d have free trade, and we’d have great multinational cooperation, and we’d have these multinational corporations that can do business in any country, and it would be a whole new era. [Emphasis added]

Well, as it turns out — first of all, China and Russia didn’t get the memo on that — secondly, as it turns out, that ‘New World Order’ wasn’t good for American workers. And as it turned out, it didn’t protect American middle class values. As it turned out, it undermined the middle class way of life. [Emphasis added]

Hawley said the ruling class is primarily a “small group of people” from a “fairly narrow band of colleges and graduate schools” who largely agree on the most challenging issues facing the nation and oppose the traditionalism of middle American communities.

“They also tend to be the winners of this global integration. George Bush’s ‘New World Order,’ the people who have been in charge of the parties who run the media, who hold commanding heights in our culture; they win from that agreement,” Hawley said of the ruling class. “They’re doing great; they are the wealthy in our society. They are the ones who are globally integrated and global facing.”

Hawley continued:

They also tend to be skeptical of places like Missouri and of things like home and community. So they say that they value those things, but you listen to somebody … and somebody says, “I’m not going to move from this small town even though I’m having trouble finding a job because my family is here and because this is where we’ve lived for generations and this is where my friends are and I want to make a life here.” A lot of D.C. elites in both parties listen to that and they’re like, “That’s crazy.”

As Breitbart News has chronicled, free trade has helped gut working and middle class American jobs and stripped whole middle American towns of their industries and livelihoods.

Since the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was signed and China was allowed to enter the World Trade Organization (WTO), five million American manufacturing jobs and more than 50,000 manufacturing facilities have been eliminated from the U.S. economy. This mass elimination of jobs due to free trade has coincided with an almost 600 percent increase in trade deficits.

In recent years, the economic recovery from the Great Recession disproportionately benefitted elite zip codes. For example, by 2016, elite zip codes had a surplus of 3.6 million jobs, which is more than the combined bottom 80 percent of American zip codes. While populations have grown in major cities where the wealthiest of Americans live, rural communities have continued to shrink.

(GAMER PARASITE LAWYER) Amy Klobuchar Hides Her Support for Exporting College Graduate Jobs to India

UPI

NEIL MUNRO

14 Feb 20201

9:36

Democrat Sen. Amy Klobuchar is touting her

support for amnesty and easy migration of

blue-collar workers — but she is hiding her

support for laws that allow employers to hire

foreign graduates for the white-collar jobs

 needed by Klobuchar’s college graduate

 progressive voters.

“We know that immigrants don’t diminish America, they are America,” she told a February 13 event in Nevada organized by the League of United Latin American Citizens. She continued:

We also know that we need workers in our fields, in our factories, to start more small businesses, in our nursing homes, working as doctors, and [in] our hospitals and [as] nurses. So I think that economic case … is the case I’ve been making in every state. …. In nearly every town hall meeting, I would bring up immigration, because I just think it’s so important for people, even in states that don’t have big Hispanic communities, to start thinking of it as an economic imperative.

Klobuchar has a long history of support for white-collar migration, despite the impact on college voters in her home state.

In 2015, for example, Klobuchar backed a bill by then GOP Utah Sen. Orin Hatch that would allow universities and companies to cooperatively import an unlimited number of foreign graduates for the jobs sought by American graduates. ComputerWorld reported:

Technically, the bill is a reintroduction of the earlier “I-Square” bill, but it includes enough revisions to be considered new. It increases the H-1B visa cap to 195,000 (instead of an earlier 300,000 cap), and eliminates the cap on people who earn an advanced degree in a STEM (science, technology, education and math) field.

Hatch, who is the No. 2 ranking senator in the GOP-controlled chamber, was joined by co-sponsors Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Chris Coons (D-Del.), Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) in backing the legislation.

“This bill is basically a wish list for the tech industry,” said [EPI’s Daniel] Costa.

In 2020, Klobuchar is also sponsoring the updated version of the Hatch bill. The bill, titled S.386, is being championed by Utah GOP Sen. Mike Lee. His bill would not change the overall number of green cards for foreign employees, but it would roughly quintuple the award of green cards to the unlimited number of temporary status Indians graduates who can take jobs from American graduates via the Optional Practical Training, L-1,  and the H-1B programs.

The resident population of roughly one million Indian graduates has created a U.S.-India Outsourcing Economy throughout the U.S economy, which pushes many American graduates out of good jobs. The outsourcing economy has imposed Indian-style workplace rules on Americans’ professional workplaces, despite U.S. laws against discrimination, favoritism, and kickbacks.

Klobuchar’s support for middle class outsourcing is a fundamental economic threat to her own voting base of white-collar college graduates.

She came in third in the New Hampshire primary race partly because she won the biggest share of college voters, according to the exit polls. She won 25 percent of the votes from college grad Democrats, narrowly beating the shares won by Sen. Bernie Sanders and Mayor Pete Buttigieg. But she only won 14 percent of blue-collar votes, far behind Sanders’ share of 31 percent and Buttigieg’s share of 24 percent.

But the victims of this Indian outsourcing include many young, mid-career and older graduates in her home state of Minnesota.

Numerous Indian-run, Indian-staffed outsourcing firms have set up satellite offices in Minnesota. They include Infosys, Cognizant, Tata, Larsen & Toubro Wipro, IBM India, and IBM, which recently appointed an Indian CEO to run the firm.

The federal data showing the H-1B job losses are presented MyVisaJObs.com. The site shows the number of H-1B visa workers requested by Minnesota employers to take jobs that would otherwise go to Americans.

In 2019, Minnesota-based Best Buy asked for visas to import 59 foreign graduates, at expected annual pay of $113,000. Minnesota-based Target sought 288 visas for jobs paying an average of $124,000. Cargill Inc. asked for 23 visa workers for jobs paying $117,000, the University of Minnesota asked for 245 graduates at an average pay of  $80,000 and Medtronic asked for 263 graduates at an average pay of $99,000.

SAITJ.org displays the same data from 2017, and it shows that half of the requested workers would earn less than $70,000 a year, while 14 percent would earn more than $100,000.

Minnesota-Total-2017 (2)

The outsourcing economy also hits older workers. In 2007, for example, Minnesota’s Best Buy retail company settled a lawsuit by American workers who were replaced by H-1B workers from the Accenture consulting company, according to ComputerWorld’s report:

Best Buy Co. this month quietly settled an age discrimination lawsuit filed in 2004 by 44 former IT [Information Technology] workers who had been laid off, most of them after the electronics retailer outsourced its IT operations to Accenture Ltd. earlier that year.

“The matter has been resolved on a mutual basis,” said Stephen Snyder, a Minneapolis attorney who represented the former Best Buy employees. Neither Snyder nor officials at the retailer would comment on the details of the settlement deal approved by a U.S. District Court judge in Minnesota.

When the outsourcing deal was announced, Best Buy told its 820 IT workers that only about 40 of them would remain with the retailer. About 650 others were expected to be shifted to Accenture and continue working at Best Buy’s offices, while the remaining 130 or so workers were told their jobs would be eliminated.

Mid-career professionals also lose out.

“She’s the ‘Minnesota nice’ version of [Democrat Rep.] Zoe Lofgren … [who is] the congresswoman from Silicon who is a complete foreign-labor dumping shill,” said a Minnesota-born software professional who has lost jobs to Indian outsourcing. He continued:

In 2004, I’m in Chicago, on the near-north side, near one of the restaurant districts, and this Indian guy comes up to me and asks me for directions. It turns out I end up talking to him for two hours or so, him and his sister. He told me he is working at the Best Buy headquarters in Richview, Minneapolis … He explained how he was told by a manager to lie to an American programmer, tell him there was no more work — but to [secretly] shift work overseas [to India]. The American looked at him and said, ‘What am I supposed to do? I have a mortgage and I have a baby on the way.”

If [the Indan] did not play ball, he was going to be on the first plane back to India.

“Klobuchar knows about this [outsourcing[… she is complicit,’ he said.

The Indian outsourcing has accelerated in the last decade, partly because Klobuchar and other politicians protect the business — and even used the 2013 “Gang of Eight” amnesty bill to expand the flow of visa workers and foreign graduates. Klobuchar reiterated her support of the 2013 bill at the Nevada event:

I have been a long supporter of comprehensive immigration reform. I think that is the best answer and in 2013, we did, and as I mentioned, when President [George W.] Bush was in and he really wanted to get it done. And we got close, but we had a lot of pushback actually from right-wing talk radio and other things.

Then it got to President [Barack] Obama’s time, and he wanted to get it done too. And in 2013, we put together a bill that was supported both by the Chamber of Commerce and the AFL CIO, by the migrant groups as well as the Farm Bureau and the farmers union. And we got that through [the Senate] with bipartisan support. I was on the judiciary committee, am on that committee and worked on that bill hard, and then it died somewhere over in the House, next to the frozen peas in [House Speaker] John Boehner’s freezer, I don’t know. It never got through, and it was a very sad thing because we had such bipartisan support.

Klobuchar’s opponent, Sen. Sanders, opposed the 2013 bill:

In 2013, @SenSanders gave a powerful speech condemning the Gang of Eight bill written by corporate lobbyists. He then he voted for the bill despite being on record acknowledging that it would hurt American workers. https://twitter.com/ColumbiaBugle/status/1228310760582873088

Klobuchar promises to push for a similar bill

if she is elected President:

I am convinced that we can get this done. I think a lot of the Republicans do not want to cross Donald Trump right now. But there are a lot of them that know that we need to get it done. I am committed to getting it done in my first year. I’m not gonna wait because that would have a path to citizenship, as well as do something of course with the ‘dreamers’ and give them citizenship, as well as dealing with temporary status workers.

Peter Navarro: U.S. Is Dangerously Over-Dependent’ on Foreign Imports

438

White House

Volume 90%

JOHN BINDER

 2 Apr 2020464

3:33

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro says the Chinese coronavirus crisis is vindicating President Trump’s economic nationalist agenda, underscoring how “dangerously over-dependent” the nation is on global supply chains overseas.

In a press briefing on Thursday, Navarro said the coronavirus crisis is exposing decades of free trade policy that has readily enabled U.S. corporations to outsource and offshore their supply chains while gutting America’s industrial base. Navarro said:

One of the things that this crisis has taught us … is that we are dangerously over-dependent on a global supply chain for our medicines like penicillin, our medical supplies like masks, and our medical equipment like ventilators. We have right now, as we speak, over 50 countries that have already imposed some form of export restrictions in their country against the rest of the world.

“What we’re learning from that is that no matter [what] treaties you have, no matter how many alliances, no matter how many phone calls, when push comes to shove, you run the risk as a nation of not having what you need,” Navarro said.

Navarro also detailed the Trump administration’s upcoming “Buy American” executive order, which he said will be implemented only after the coronavirus crisis has concluded to ensure existing supply chains are not further disrupted:

And if there’s any vindication, it’s the president’s Buy American, secure borders, and a strong manufacturing base philosophy, strategy, and belief it is this crisis because it underscores everything that we see there. [Emphasis added]

So the Buy American order, which is going through process, would do a couple of things. It would — not during this crisis because we don’t want to disrupt anything, I want to be very clear about that — but going forward, after this is over, the VA, DOD, HHS, and this government buys American for essential medicines, our medical countermeasures, and the medical supplies and equipment we need. At the same time, it will deregulate so we can get the FDA and EPA to facilitate domestic manufacturing and innovate. [Emphasis added]

The key here … is having advanced manufacturing on U.S. soil that can leapfrog other countries so we don’t have to worry about competing against cheap sweatshop labor, lax environmental regulations, different tax regimes, and the massive subsidies of foreign governments who are actually directly attacking our industrial base. [Emphasis added]

Navarro said “never again” should the U.S. “have to depend on the rest of the world for essential medicines and countermeasures.”

The results of U.S. free trade with China have meant the U.S. currently depends on China to produce an estimated 97 percent of all antibiotics and 80 percent of the active pharmaceutical ingredients that are needed to manufacture drugs in the U.S.
