New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) is yet again warning that illegal immigration is “devastating” the city and will “hurt” New Yorkers as a result.

During a town hall meeting, Adams said New York City, a sanctuary jurisdiction that refuses to cooperate with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, is “at a breaking point” because of illegal immigration; more than 160,000 border crossers and illegal aliens have arrived since the spring of 2022.

“We’re at the breaking point,” Adams said. “There is no more room, over 160‑something thousand; and as I stated, we’re getting anywhere from 2,500 to 4,000 a week … this is so devastating for our city.”

This is only the latest time Adams has warned would-be illegal aliens not to come to New York City, though the campaign has failed to return results.

Earlier this month, Adams said illegal immigration “is not sustainable” and that New Yorkers would soon “see the visual of running out of room … people are going to be sleeping on our streets.”

Illegal aliens, though, have continued to flow into the sanctuary city. Some have told the Daily Mail that they “don’t care” if New York City is crowded because they are resettling in the Big Apple anyway.

This week, the New York Times detailed how New York City continues to be the biggest destination for border crossers and illegal aliens, even as Adams has attempted to tell those in Mexico and Central America to choose another city.

Monthly, President Joe Biden’s administration is releasing about 60,000 border crossers and illegal aliens into the United States interior. Tens of thousands are ending up in New York City every month.

Report: Chicago Looking to Export Illegal Border Crossers to St. Louis, Missouri

Chicago has reportedly taken meetings with illegal alien advocates from St. Louis, Missouri, about a deal to ship thousands of border crossers from the Windy City to the Gateway City.

St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones (D) recently launched the city’s “Office of New Americans” with an eye toward helping illegals settle in the city on the Mississippi River, and now several advocacy groups in St. Louis are nudging Chicago officials to open up the spigot, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The nonprofit International Institute of St. Louis is one organization asking Chicago’s city hall to consider shipping illegals south to Missouri.

“It could be the potential for a great relationship between both cities,” Karlos Ramirez, vice president of Latino outreach for the International Institute, told the Sun-Times. “If the [migrants] are going to be in a better place, St. Louis is going to be in a better place, and Chicago is going to be in a better place. I think everybody wins.”

Ramirez added that unions and private funding could foot the bill to house illegals, provide them with cell phones, and help them find work in the St. Louis area.

Chicago officials have not commented on the plans, but the Windy City is in a crisis after more than 18,0000 illegals have flooded the city.

The St. Louis activist told the Sun-Times that he has already taken meetings with Beatriz Ponce De León, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s (D) deputy mayor of immigrant, migrant and refugee rights.

Other activists in St. Louis also love the idea. Jerry Schlichter, an attorney who has helped settle Afghans and Bosnians in St. Louis, insists that the city is in need of workers:

There’s a tremendous need for employees. If you look around the country at cities that are growing, it’s primarily from immigrants and children of immigrants. That’s what we’re trying to build here — to increase our population, make a more vibrant St. Louis and a more diverse St. Louis, which is a benefit for everyone.

Schlichter may have a point. Like many deep blue, big U.S. cities, St. Louis has been steadily losing its population as residents flee soaring taxes, worse crime rates, and job loss.

The Census Bureau has reported that the St. Louis region of Missouri lost more than 11,000 citizens — or 0.4 percent — between 2021 and 2022, according to KSDK-TV. And it was worse from 2020 to 2021, when 0.23 percent fled the region.

The city itself and the county it occupies, though, have suffered an even greater statistical loss. The county lost 0.78 percent from 2021 to 2022 and saw a more than 0.48 percent loss between 2020 and 2021.

Still, Ramirez is careful to note that he does not just want any illegal migrant. He says that his organization would prefer a particular segment of the illegals in Chicago. He wants only those migrants who “started their asylum claims in their home countries under a specific Biden administration program,” CBS Channel 2 noted.

“I understand that there probably will be some people that will come on their own, and we’ll have to deal with those people as well, but we are trying to be strategic and intentional,” Ramirez exclaimed.

“We don’t want to make false promises that we can do something more than Chicago or New York have done for the people who cannot work, but for the people who have a work permit, we are offering them the opportunity to build their lives here,” Schlichter added.

Ramirez says he wants to start small with 12 illegals, but Schlichter said he is looking for more like 500.

Officials in St. Louis have also cautioned that no plans have been set in motion. Nick Dunne, a spokesperson for the city of St. Louis, added that there have been no “direct communications” with Chicago officials, according to KSDK-TV.

It is likely that officials in the Gateway City are fearful of opening the floodgates and that they will suffer a similar fate as cities in New York, California, Massachusetts, Colorado, and Illinois, where resources were quickly overwhelmed with tens of thousands of illegals seeking free shelter, food, clothing, and healthcare.

100 Syrians, 50 Iranians Cross Biden’s Open Border in October, Says Source

EAGLE PASS, Texas — According to a source within CBP, the influx of Special Interest Migrants across the U.S./Mexico border continues early in the NEW fiscal year as nearly 100 Syrian and 50 Iranian nationals have been apprehended by the Border Patrol since the beginning of October. The source says the influx of Syrian and Iranian Special Interest Migrants is concerning, considering the turmoil unfolding in the Middle East.

The Syrian and Iranian migrants were apprehended in multiple sectors across the southwest border during October. The latest arrest of an Iranian national by the Border Patrol occurred near Eagle Pass, Texas, on Saturday. The Iranian national was discovered within a single group of more than 300 that crossed into the small border city. A debrief of the Iranian migrant is pending as of press time, according to the source.

The source says the continued encounter of Syrian and Iranian nationals is more concerning considering the recent U.S. air strikes against Iran-linked sites in Syria in response to drone and missile attacks on U.S. military bases in the region. According to the source, the arrivals of Special Interest Migrants at the southwest border are appearing with little to no advance intelligence warning.

“We are receiving no advance warning of the arrival of Special Interest Migrants from the region with any specificity,” the source explained. “We are left to sort through the grab-bag of migrants in small and large groups to figure out who is in the group and why they are coming.”

Eleven Special Interest Migrants from Middle Eastern countries were apprehended in just one sector of the border patrol in one week alone.

As reported by Breitbart Texas, during the week of October 8 to October 14, Border Patrol agents apprehended six Iranian nationals, three Lebanese nationals, one Egyptian national, and one Saudi Arabian national that made landfall in Texas on the banks of the Rio Grande in the Del Rio Border Patrol Sector that includes Eagle Pass.

The Syrian and Iranian Special Interest Migrants are mostly single adult males. Both countries are subject to travel warnings by the U.S. State Department. The State Department has issued a Level-4 advisory regarding travel to Syria due to terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping, armed conflict, and the risk of unjust detention.

Iran is also subject to a Level-4 travel warning by the State Department due to the risk of kidnapping and the arbitrary arrest and detention of U.S. citizens.

The source says, absent any significant intelligence indicting a Special Interest migrant may pose a known threat to the United States, they are generally released into the U.S. to pursue asylum claims.

As reported by Breitbart Texas, more than 61,000 Special Interest Migrants were encountered by the Border Patrol in Fiscal Year 2023, which ended on September 30.  The number of migrants from Special Interest countries climbed by more than 140 percent from Fiscal Year 2022, when more than 25,500 were apprehended. In all, more than 86,000 Special Interest migrants have illegally entered the United States in the previous two fiscal years.

According to a 2019 DHS fact sheet, the term “Significant Interest Alien” is defined as follows:

Generally, an SIA is a non-U.S. person who, based on an analysis of travel patterns, potentially poses a national security risk to the United States or its interests.  Often, such individuals or groups employ travel patterns known or evaluated to possibly have a nexus to terrorism. DHS analysis includes an examination of travel patterns, points of origin, and/or travel segments that are tied to current assessments of national and international threat environments.

This does not mean that all SIAs are “terrorists,” but rather that the travel and behavior of such individuals indicate a possible nexus to nefarious activity (including terrorism) and, at a minimum, provide indicators that necessitate heightened screening and further investigation.  The term SIA does not indicate any specific derogatory information about the individual – and DHS has never indicated that the SIA designation means more than that.
