DID DEMOCRAT GAVIN NEWSOM FINISH OFF CALIFORNIA? - Dean Cain Rejoices in Leaving L.A. Behind for Las Vegas: ‘California Has Gone Crazy’

Migrant enclaves already are at the top of the U.S. lists for bad places to  - 10 of the 50 worst places in America to live according to this list are in California, and all of them are famous for their illegal populations.             MONICA SHOWALTER

The answer regarding Arizona’s swing lies in its neighbor to the west, California. Since 2012, California has overwhelmingly sent more transplants to Arizona than any other state. When surveyed, escaping Californians cite high taxes, high crime rates, unaffordable housing, out-of-control homelessness, and high unemployment rates as their top reasons for fleeing.

(Ep370, repost from Nov 2022) California has almost half of the nation’s homeless population, has some of the highest taxes in the country, and is ranked among the lowest in education. What does the future look like for California? Are we able to turn our state back into the prosperous land it once was? Host Siyamak Khorrami sits down with Victor Davis Hanson, historian and senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, to discuss the California Exodus.

Dean Cain Rejoices in Leaving L.A. Behind for Las Vegas: ‘California Has Gone Crazy’

Dean Cain has never been happier. The iconic Superman actor left his long-time Southern California neighbourhood behind earlier this year and made the move to Las Vegas, relieved to escape the regulated and strictly controlled Democrat fiefdom.

He told the Messenger of his relief at saying goodbye to his old Malibu, Calif. abode which he sold for $6.25 million in May:

I had to leave California. California has gone crazy in a sense. There’s been so much. Look at the taxation. Look at the regulations. Look at the silly laws that have been passed. There were things that I didn’t agree with, and I’ve been voting here and living here and working here my entire life. I finally got to a place where I was like, I don’t agree with this.

But why did he choose Nevada? Cain said his parents have been living in the state for two years now. He also praised the state for having no personal income tax.

“It’s a big savings,” he went on to explain, applauding “It’s so much easier to travel places from Las Vegas than from LAX. It’s incredible. It’s the quietest place I’ve ever slept in my life. When I got here and saw traffic, I was like, ‘What is this foreign substance? I don’t like it anymore.’ I don’t deal with that at all. It’s great.”

Cain told the outlet his acting career continues to flourish despite the tyranny of distance between his old home and the new.

In the past year alone, the actor said he has shot 10 projects outside of Los Angeles. “People don’t want to [shoot in L.A.],” he said. “It costs too much, there’s too many restrictions.”

This is not the first time Cain has hit out at California.

He previously said California’s taxation policies have gotten so extreme that it almost feels the state has been trying to “tax people out of there.” The actor also lamented the state’s ongoing homeless problem that has seen with it a rapid spike in violent crime, as Breitbart News reported.

“The policies are just terrible. The fiscal policies, the soft-on-crime policies, the homelessness policies,” he said in June. “The things that our leaders in California have been doing have driven out anybody who can really afford to get out. People are flocking out of there in droves.”

The actor also railed against a recent California bill that would have required judges to consider a parent encouraging a child’s gender identity in custody cases. Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed the bill.

“If I were to end up in a custody case with somebody over an adolescent child who thought they were … like my son thought he was a bird, he wanted to be a bird when he was young,” Cain said.

“And if I didn’t affirm his ‘birdness,’ they might have tried to take that child away from me. Which is some of the crazy things that are going on in California when it comes to that, when it comes to schools.”

Study: More than 7-in-10 California Immigrant

Welfare

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2018/12/04/study-more-than-7-in-10-california-immigrant-households-are-on-welfare/

More than 7-in-10 households headed by immigrants in the state of California are on taxpayer-funded welfare, a new study reveals.

The latest Census Bureau data analyzed by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) finds that about 72 percent of households headed by noncitizens and immigrants use one or more forms of taxpayer-funded welfare programs in California — the number one immigrant-receiving state in the U.S.

Meanwhile, only about 35 percent of households headed by native-born Americans use welfare in California.

All four states with the largest foreign-born populations, including California, have extremely high use of welfare by immigrant households. In Texas, for example, nearly 70 percent of households headed by immigrants use taxpayer-funded welfare. Meanwhile, only about 35 percent of native-born households in Texas are on welfare.

In New York and Florida, a majority of households headed by immigrants and noncitizens are on welfare. Overall, about 63 percent of immigrant households use welfare while only 35 percent of native-born households use welfare.

President Trump’s administration is looking to soon implement a policy that protects American taxpayers’ dollars from funding the mass importation of welfare-dependent foreign nationals by enforcing a “public charge” rule whereby legal immigrants would be less likely to secure a permanent residency in the U.S. if they have used any forms of welfare in the past, including using Obamacare, food stamps, and public housing.

The immigration controls would be a boon for American taxpayers in the form of an annual $57.4 billion tax cut — the amount taxpayers spend every year on paying for the welfare, crime, and schooling costs of the country’s mass importation of 1.5 million new, mostly low-skilled legal immigrants.

As Breitbart News reported, the majority of the more than 1.5 million foreign nationals entering the country every year use about 57 percent more food stamps than the average native-born American household. Overall, immigrant households consume 33 percent more cash welfare than American citizen households and 44 percent more in Medicaid dollars. This straining of public services by a booming 44 million foreign-born population translates to the average immigrant household costing American taxpayers $6,234 in federal welfare.

Liberal California Emigrants are Toxic

By R. Quinn Kennedy

When Arizona, a state that has historically leaned conservative, was won by Joe Biden and now-senator Mark Kelly this week, very few were taken by surprise. Extensive polling indicated Arizona was ripe for swinging liberal and in this instance, at least, the polling was correct.

The question is why? Why has a state that held two elected Republican senators as recently as 2018 and which held a dependable stable of electoral votes for GOP presidential candidates become a purple state on its way to becoming solidly blue? Have Arizona residents suddenly awaked to the idea that liberal policies and doctrines are more sensible than conservative ones? Hardly.

Who is responsible for creating such an alarming living environment within the state? California liberals. A November, 2020 report produced by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University stated that California has 395,608 regulatory restrictions. The sheer volume and scope of California regulations creates such a compliance nightmare that they kill entire industries, send housing prices to unattainable heights, and restrict even commonplace liberties for which conservative leaning states are known.

Piled onto California’s endless river of regulations are its nonsensical laws and policies. Twenty major metropolitan cities or counties in California have established laws, ordinances, regulations, or other practices that shield illegal immigrants from prosecution after committing a crime. These counties brazenly safeguard illegal immigrant criminals against deportation either through noncompliance or by refusing to hand them over to federal agencies such as ICE. With over $1.5 trillion in state and local government debt, California effectively has little money to spare for conveniences such as criminal incarceration. What do sanctuary cities and counties see as the alternative to handing illegal immigrant criminals over for deportation? Release them back into the general population, of course.

Consider this: Between 2014 and 2017, the FBI reported that 49 states saw an average increase in crime annually of around 3%. After implementing “humane” alternatives to criminal prosecution, California crime increased more than 12% per year over the same time period. With irrational sanctuary policies that send a clear message of little to no consequence for offenses, is it any wonder California’s crime rate is now spiraling out of control?

Arizona is not the only beneficiary of the California exodus. The Colorado State Demography Office has published an active flow map of people moving into the state from 2010 on. Disturbingly, the state sending the most movers to Colorado since then has consistently been California. As recently as 2004, Colorado had the political trifecta of a Republican governor and a Republican-controlled House and Senate. A short ten years later, all three had turned irrevocably Democrat. The subsequent consequence? A drastic increase in state and local regulations, a dramatic increase in violent crimes, a severe shortage of home inventory and affordable housing, and a staggering increase in homelessness. Do these newfound troubles sound familiar to any other state mentioned here? The only safeguard against out-of-control tax hikes in Colorado is the TABOR Amendment passed by voters 1992, prior to the influx of California residents, that requires taxpayer approval for any new tax. Not surprisingly, emboldened liberals in Colorado are vigorously resolute in repealing this tax hike protection. As of the most recent election they are unsuccessful, yet remain undeterred.

What has coincided with Colorado’s decline? The mass inflow of Californians to the state. Californians have brought with them all the very same liberal doctrines and ideologies that forced their flight from California in the first place. Does this dissuade liberal Californians from shaping Colorado into the very image of California? Not in the least.

If there is any hope for Arizona, it is that they might learn from the resulting ruin of Colorado, however unlikely.

In the 2020 election, Texas was startlingly considered in play for liberals. Since 2015, which state has contributed the most emigrants into Texas? Not surprisingly, the state of California. The hope for liberals is that they can turn Texas into the next purple soon-to-be blue state. The coveted prize is Texas’ electoral votes. Even more insidious, if liberals are able to capture Texas as they have done in Colorado and Arizona, they will force the state to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. They will then achieve their ultimate goal of a Democrat president reigning over the United States for endless generations until the point our country experiences the same collapse as other great civilizations throughout world history.

The obvious question is this: How can Texas avoid the same fate as states such as Colorado and Arizona? Simple. By being proactive.

It is much easier for liberals to enact new legislation than to argue for the removal of existing laws. With this in mind, Texas should take advantage of their current Republican-controlled Senate, House, and governor’s office by making haste and passing laws that would limit the future incursion of liberal meddling. Texas can presently enact laws that prohibit sanctuary cities, require voter approval to remove the state’s mandated balanced budget, require that any new regulation must necessitate the removal of an existing one, and compel voter approval of each new local or state tax including non-user fees. While such laws may only serve to stem the liberal takeover of the state, they would be roadblocks making it much more difficult for ideological infiltration in areas that affect inhabitant’s liberties and quality of life.

It would be absurd to suppose Californians have malintent. Rather, they are simply following the course with which they are most familiar while being blissfully ignorant of the negative unintended consequences their political ideology brings. To suggest that any act of suppression, aggression, or intimidation towards Californians moving into red states is acceptable would simply be un-American and subject to the same type of hypocrisy liberals practice. If conservatives stoop to their level, we have lost the battle and, perhaps, the war.

However, by taking aggressive legislative action in states that have not yet succumbed to liberal infiltration, Conservatives will effectively be planting our flag in a defiant refusal to hand over our institutions and our liberty.

California's governor, Gavin Newsom, scoffs at inflation as 'a conservative lie'

Bidenomics: Big Mac Extra Value Meal Costs $18, Up $10 from 2018

A Big Mac burger, a medium beverage, and a medium fry meal now costs 18 dollars in some locations, up $10 from 2018 when former President Donald Trump was president.

The skyrocketing costs could impact the 2024 election, as the soaring inflation under President Joe Biden reflects poorly on his economic plan of so-called “Bidenomics.”

The Big Mac Value Meal’s price increase is just one example of continued inflation, the New York Post’s editorial board reported:

  • Those [“President Biden’s terrible economic policies”] have driven prices overall about 15% higher since Biden came in; on essentials like food and energy, they’re up closer to 25%.
  • Equivalently, think of it as having slashed the income of a typical family by close to $5,000.
  • Mortgage rates are cruising toward 8% as the median home price hovers near $420,000.

Over half of voters in key swing states said grocery prices are the top way inflation impacted their budget, Bloomberg reported Monday, according to a Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll:

  • A pound of ground beef now costs $5.23 on average, up from $3.89 in January 2020.
  • Coffee is up some $2 a pound. Prices for fresh fruits and vegetables are nearly 14% higher.
  • At one point, the price of a carton of eggs was triple its pre-pandemic price.

Biden appears oblivious to the soaring costs. During a speech on Monday he bragged about the prices of turkey, gas, and air travel after the cost of the items actually increased under his leadership. “You know, from turkey, to air travel, to a tank of gas, costs went down,” he said.

The average price per pound for whole frozen turkeys increased by 12 cents, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture:

  • November 2020 price$1.15
  • November 2023 price$1.27

The average airline fare increased by about $50, according to the FED’s CPI:

The nationwide average for a gallon of gas increased by about 90 cents, according to AAA:

California's governor, Gavin Newsom, scoffs at inflation as 'a conservative lie'

California is the land of fruits and nuts and now its governor has come to show us.

Check out this headline and its story:

Newsom Suggests Inflation Is a Conservative Lie

Newsom also claimed that the 18 percent increase in the average hourly wage compared to three years ago is “nearly the best 3-year gain in 40 years.”

The cost of things goes up a specific amount while people don't get to keep their entire wage increase.

So when Newsom says that wages have increased 18% the last three years, which is a clear exaggeration, he should admit that because of taxes, especially in California, they probably only keep around two thirds of that, or 12%, and their buying power drops substantially.

Real wages under Trump rose substantially, especially for those at the bottom, because his energy, tax, and regulation policies kept overall inflation low.

It is a true shame that Newsom and other Dems care so little about the poor that they sought to destroy Trump every day with lies.

Here are the lies that were told after Biden took office and inflation skyrocketed to forty-year highs.

First, the Biden administration said inflation was transitional.

Then they blamed the supply chain, but that isn't true, either, because the supply chain was screwed up in 2020 and inflation was still below 2% before Biden took office.

Then they lied that it was because Biden's policies had turned the economy around when it was already rapidly growing in the last six months of 2020 before Biden took office.

Then they lied and blamed Russia. They love playing the Russian card. The problem is inflation took off as soon as Biden took office, a year before Russia invaded Ukraine.

They blamed the price of oil and "greedy" gas station owners, which was utterly wrong, but they didn't help the situation by constraining supply through their bans on drilling and their begging to the world's dictators to drill for us instead.

Inflation took off because of Biden's government kept throwing more money out for government programs and hiring, printing money in the process, even after the economy was rapidly growing.

Sadly, most of the media just regurgitate Democrat lies.

It has started: Lefty prof says fleeing New Yorkers not a problem because immigrants will replace them

By Monica Showalter

Blue cities have become socialist hellholes, and not surprisingly, people are fleeing.

High taxes, extended lockdowns, massive crime, and rioting and looting have all driven taxpayers from Portland to New York to pack up and leave their cities, heading to friendlier red climes where rule of law is a thing, taxes are low, businesses are easy to start, and public officials show common sense on COVID risks.  According to the New York Post:

FlatRate Movers said the 100 moves a day it does in the city are very different from previous years.

"We used to move a lot of people from Brooklyn to Manhattan or Queens," said David Giampietro, the company's chief administrative officer. "Now it's the mileage. We're not going 5 miles anymore. It's more like 20, 30, 40" to New Jersey, Connecticut and upstate.

More than 16,000 New Yorkers changed their address to Connecticut from March through June, the Hartford Courant reported.

United Van Lines and Mayflower movers said it had done 1,000 out-of-state moves from New York City starting in March, with 28 percent to Florida and California, and 16 percent to Texas and North Carolina.

Writer James Alschuler notes that it's gotten very bad in New York, indeed — so bad that he forecasts that the city won't be recover.  His must-read piece is here.

It ought to be a point of embarrassment for these blue leftist ruling claques that people are fleeing.  People flee the chaos of systemic socialism wherever it is found, sometimes on leaky rafts, sometimes by barreling over walls, and sometimes by UHaul, and all these elites can think is, they're in good company.  Like shortages, people voting with their feet is found wherever socialism is found.

So here we are, with thousands of productive people fleeing New York, and instead of begging for them to come back, as Andrew Cuomo did in not so serious terms a few weeks ago, the hardest of the hardcore leftists are now saying, "Big deal, there's more where that came from."

Here's the view of a leftist professor, explaining why human and capital flight is no problemo in New York City, according to Axios:

· "What's going to really save New York is immigrants," says Hacker, who has taught political science to many generations of them.

· While lots of New Yorkers are leaving, "out there in Bangalore and Ukraine and Natal, there are people who want to be New Yorkers" who will gladly take their place, bringing their ambition and brainpower.

· Hacker welcomes these voluntary New Yorkers: "I only want people in the city who want to be here."

This is pretty much the same thing Mayor Bill de Blasio said just a couple weeks ago.  According to the New York Post, emphasis mine:

I think you'll see a certain number of people who leave and at the appropriate time — after there's a vaccine — will come back. I think you'll see some people decide they want a different kind of lifestyle, I think those people will be replaced by other people coming in," de Blasio said. "I think that pattern will start again over the next couple of years.

So no worries about people fleeing; there's always more where they came from.  To socialists, people are always just "matter," putty in the hands of socialist central planners, and if some flee, they've got replacement parts, with bottomless resources, so who cares?  They can always get more where they came from.  Never mind the little detail that the people fleeing are often immigrants themselves — the productive kind.

With an arrogant attitude like this, it certainly becomes easy to avoid fiscal reform, end the stranglehold of unions, and drop the choking regulations and lockdowns if there's an endless supply of people, doesn't it?  Who needs to adopt a moderate course or reduce the socialist strangleholds on the economy when there's no need to conserve people?  This is why the socialists are just going to keep getting crazier.

Mickey Kaus forecast that it would happen and was not surprised:

THAT DIDN'T TAKE LONG: "'What’s going to really save New York is immigrants,' says [Andrew] Hacker"... While lots of New Yorkers are leaving, 'out there in Bangalore and Ukraine and Natal, there are people who want to be New Yorkers' who will gladly take their place." https://t.co/HcA5S4IIH8

— Mickey Kaus (@kausmickey) August 24, 2020

As usual, he got it right.  It's pretty obvious they'll glom onto this narrative more as a means of avoiding any address of their socialist failures.  Socialists never ever say they're sorry.

As reported by Breitbart Texas, the arrest of migrants with existing criminal records has risen more than 350 percent since 2020. According to CBP, the number of migrants who have criminal convictions for Homicide and Manslaughter rose from 3 encounters in 2020 to more than 60 in 2022. More than 120 migrants with homicide or manslaughter convictions have been encountered since January 2021 — compared to 11 during the Trump era. The increase reflects those convicted of prior offenses committed in the United States.

Joe Biden and other Democrats have spent the last four years repeating the mantra “no one is above the law.” Yet Biden has advocated policies that would, as the San Francisco Chronicle recently noted, effectively make the United States a sanctuary country.

Adios, Sanctuary La Raza Welfare State of California

A fifth-generation Californian laments his state’s ongoing economic collapse.
By Steve Baldwin
American Spectator
What’s clear is that the producers are leaving the state and the takers are coming in. Many of the takers are illegal aliens, now estimated to number over 2.6 million (BLOG: THE NUMBER IS CLOSER TO 15 MILLION ILLEAGLS). The Federation for American Immigration Reform estimates that California spends $22 billion (DATED: NOW ABOUT $35 BILLION YEARLY AND THAT IS ON THE STATE LEVEL ONLY. COUNTIES PAY OUT MORE) on government services for illegal aliens, including welfare, education, Medicaid, and criminal justice system costs.

Liberals claim they more than make that up with taxes paid, but that’s simply not true. It’s not even close. FAIR estimates illegal aliens in California contribute only $1.21 billion in tax revenue, which means they cost California $20.6 billion, or at least $1,800 per household.
Nonetheless, open border advocates, such as Facebook Chairman Mark Zuckerberg, claim illegal aliens are a net benefit to California with little evidence to support such an assertion. As the Center for Immigration Studies has documented, the vast majority of illegals are poor, uneducated, and with few skills. How does accepting millions of illegal aliens and then granting them access to dozens of welfare programs benefit California’s economy? If illegal aliens were contributing to the economy in any meaningful way, California, with its 2.6 million illegal aliens, would be booming.
Furthermore, the complexion of illegal aliens has changed with far more on welfare and committing crimes than those who entered the country in the 1980s. Heather Mac Donald of the Manhattan Institute has testified before a Congressional committee that in 2004, 95% of all outstanding warrants for murder in Los Angeles were for illegal aliens; in 2000, 23% of all Los Angeles County jail inmates were illegal aliens and that in 1995, 60% of Los Angeles’s largest street gang, the 18th Street gang, were illegal aliens. Granted, those statistics are old, but if you talk to any California law enforcement officer, they will tell you it’s much worse today. The problem is that the Brown administration will not release any statewide data on illegal alien crimes. That would be insensitive. And now that California has declared itself a “sanctuary state,” there is little doubt this sends a message south of the border that will further escalate illegal immigration into the state.

"If the racist "Sensenbrenner Legislation" passes the US Senate, there is no doubt that a massive civil disobedience movement will emerge. Eventually labor union power can merge with the immigrant civil rights and "Immigrant Sanctuary" movements to enable us to either form a new political party or to do heavy duty reforming of the existing Democratic Party. The next and final steps would follow and that is to elect our own governors of all the states within Aztlan."
Indeed, California goes out of its way to attract illegal aliens. The state has even created government programs that cater exclusively to illegal aliens. For example, the State Department of Motor Vehicles has offices that only process driver licenses for illegal aliens. With over a million illegal aliens now driving in California, the state felt compelled to help them avoid the long lines the rest of us must endure at the DMV. And just recently, the state-funded University of California system announced it will spend $27 million on financial aid for illegal aliens. They’ve even taken out radio spots on stations all along the border, just to make sure other potential illegal border crossers hear about this program. I can’t afford college education for all my four sons, but my taxes will pay for illegals to get a college education.
