California Adds Drug Users as a Protected Class

The only thing not a protected category in California is being a white man

What are the odds that pedophiles will be a protected class in California by 2025? Let me put it this way, I wouldn’t bet against it.

But one thing at a time. Drug users are first in line. Behind Islamic terrorists, drag queens and just ahead of people who vandalize classical art while screaming that the planet is about to explode.

California employees will soon officially have protections from discrimination based on their use of cannabis or marijuana while off the clock and away from the workplace.

The new protections come from an amendment to California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act (AB 2188) which was approved by Governor Gavin Newsom on Sept. 18, 2022, and goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2024. The bill makes it unlawful for an employer to not hire, penalize, or terminate a person based on their use of cannabis products outside of work.

Just in case you were worried that your bus driver or heart surgeon is wiping out his brain cells and impulse control on a regular basis. But we can’t leave it here, what about the cocaine and meth users? Drug civil rights must apply to everyone.

Within a decade we went from workforce drug testing to drugs being a protected employment category.

Then again the only things that aren’t protected employment categories in California are being a white man or a conservative.

In California, you can be fired for refusing to wear a BLM badge, but you can’t be fired for being high.

The political class protects itself. It’s not as if anyone in Sacramento state government isn’t high all the time.
