Poll: Majority of Voters Believe Joe Biden ‘Likely’ Involved in Family Business

A majority of voters believe President Joe Biden was “likely” involved “inappropriately” in his family’s business, a Thursday J.L. Partners poll found.

The survey found the following statistics about how likely voters believe it is that Biden was involved in his family’s business ventures:

  • Very likely: 38 percent
  • Quite likely: 20 percent
  • Don’t know: 8 percent
  • Quite unlikely: 11 percent
  • Very unlikely: 22 percent

Even one-third of Democrats believe it is very or quite likely Biden involved himself inappropriately in his family’s business.

The poll sampled 1,000 likely voters. The margin of error was not provided.

Biden denies he spoke to his family members about their business and that Hunter Biden earned money from his ventures in China, though Hunter acknowledged the receipt of “China money” in court documents.

Previous polling shows Americans are skeptical of Joe Biden’s claims:

  • ABC News/Ipsos: A plurality of Americans are not confident about how the Justice Department handled its investigation into Hunter.
  • Yahoo/YouGov: A majority of voters believe Joe Biden committed a crime with Hunter.
  • TIPP: Sixty-three percent say Joe Biden violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) by assisting Hunter in the Burisma Holdings deal.

The polling comes after the House voted to formally open an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden to provide investigators the means to compel information the White House refuses to provide Congress. The Biden administration failed to provide investigators:

  • Information about two loan agreements Joe Biden allegedly executed with James Biden for a total of $240,000
  • 99.98 percent of requested records from President Joe Biden, including alias emails
  • Documents about an alleged $5 million bribe Joe Biden allegedly accepted
  • Materials related to Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified documents

House investigators initially announced they would investigate the Biden family in November 2022. They later revealed Joe Biden received money from James Biden and Hunter Biden. They also showed that nine additional Biden family members received payments from the family’s foreign business ventures, including two of Joe Biden’s grandchildren.

More evidence against Joe Biden can be found here and here.

Donald Trump: Joe Biden ‘Probably Would’ Pardon His Son Hunter Biden

PALM BEACH, Florida — Former President Donald Trump, the 2024 GOP presidential frontrunner, told Breitbart News exclusively last week that he expects Democrat President Joe Biden would probably pardon his son Hunter Biden if the latter is convicted of crimes on the many criminal charges he faces.

“I think he [Joe Biden] would do anything. I think he’s a guy that would do anything. He probably would do that,” Trump said during a more-than-two-hour-long interview at Mar-a-Lago last Thursday evening when asked if Joe would pardon Hunter Biden if he is convicted of crimes.

Hunter Biden faces several criminal charges by Special Counsel David Weiss. Weiss, the U.S. Attorney for Delaware, was granted Special Counsel status last year when investigating Hunter Biden. In September, Weiss formally brought three charges against Hunter Biden related to his possession of a firearm. In December, Weiss brought nine more charges—including three felony charges—against Hunter Biden for allegedly failing to file his taxes, evading an assessment, and filing a fraudulent form.

The White House has repeatedly insisted that Joe Biden will not pardon his son Hunter Biden. According to NBC News, in December, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated unequivocally that Joe Biden would not pardon his son. “I’ve been very clear; the president is not going to pardon his son,” she said.

But the NBC News story raises concerns that if and when Hunter Biden would be convicted on such charges, Joe Biden could decide to do so then. What’s more, after the election next year—win or lose—Joe Biden will likely never face voters again. If that’s the case, as a lame duck outgoing president in the case of a loss or a just reelected but term limited president in the case of a win, Joe Biden could decide that he has nothing to lose in that regard and could just do it anyway to protect his troubled son.

As for a Joe Biden pardon of his son Hunter Biden, Breitbart News has regularly said that is the likeliest outcome of this saga.

Speaking of pardons, during the interview with Breitbart News, Trump said attorneys for him when he was still the president suggested he pardon himself—no president has ever done that, but the power of the pardon is pretty absolute and it would likely have held up under scrutiny—to avoid the legal troubles he’s going through now. Trump says he decided against it because he is innocent, and for historical purposes he did not want to be the first president ever to pardon himself.

“You know, I could have pardoned myself,” Trump told Breitbart News. “I had a couple of lawyers that said these people are crazy, if you don’t do it you’ll go through a lot. I said I didn’t do anything wrong so I’m not going to do it. But I could have pardoned myself when I left the White House. That would have held up very strongly. Pardon is a very powerful right. I didn’t do it because I thought it would be totally inappropriate, and if you do that you look guilty somewhat. But I had that option and I was given that very strong option by lawyers somewhat. I was given that by numerous lawyers who said, ‘If you want to do that you could because you’re going to spend a lot of your time in court and these people are totally nuts, they’re bad people, they hate our country, and they hate you. They have Trump Derangement Syndrome, so, sir, you could pardon yourself now so you won’t have to go through it,’ and I said, ‘I don’t want to do that for purposes of history. I don’t want that history that I pardoned myself, because I did nothing wrong.’”

More from Trump’s latest interview with Breitbart News is forthcoming.

DeSantis: Trump Needs to Debate, Reading off a Teleprompter ‘Doesn’t Cut It’

Republican presidential hopeful Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that former President Donald Trump needed to participate in a GOP primary debate.

Partial transcript as follows:

MARGARET BRENNAN: Our CBS polling shows half the country expects there will be violence from the side that loses in future elections. Do you share that concern about this race?

DESANTIS: Oh, I hope not. I mean- I think that, you know, we have an opportunity, one of the- one of the reasons I’m running is I think the Republicans, we have a great shot to win. If we frame the issues about the problems facing the country, the failures of the Biden administration, and how we have a great set of ideas to turn the country around. And I’ve shown how that can be done in Florida. I think if we’re re-litigating the past elections, if it’s about, you know, Donald Trump, or his legal issues, or criminal trials or all that stuff, you know, I think it’s going to be a really nasty election. I don’t think that puts Republicans in a good position to win. So we need to have an election on the issues. You know, we need a candidate that can win a clear cut victory, and we need to start looking forward as a country.

BRENNAN: You have never lost a political race before in your career. You are a second in the CBS Iowa projections. Is that victory enough for you?

DESANTIS: Well, we got to win a majority of the delegates. This is a long process. We’re doing really well in Iowa. You know, I kind of like being underestimated, Margaret. So I hope people kind of say that. But we’ve got the enthusiasm. When the calendar clicked to ’24, you see, we got more undecided voters coming out to all our events. So we’re going to outwork everybody. But this is a long process. There’s a lot that happens to accumulate all these delegates, we’re going to do well in Iowa, but we’re also going to be competing in all these other states. And I think that there’s a lot of real estate, I think a lot of things are going to happen. I wish the former president would actually debate though, I mean, I think if you’re going to stand for nomination, you should be able to stand on a stage to do it. I’m happy to debate him on your program, or if your network wants to host a debate in New Hampshire, South Carolina. But the idea that he can go and just read off the teleprompter for 45 minutes and then go back, you know, back home, that doesn’t cut it in Iowa. And that doesn’t cut it in a lot of these states. And so, let’s go. Get on the stage and let’s have the debate of ideas and I hope Donald Trump will be willing to do that.

Cheney: Trump ‘Ought to Be Disqualified from Holding Office in the Future’

Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that she believed former President Donald Trump should be “disqualified” from holding office because he allegedly incited an insurrection.

Partial transcript as follows:

MARGARET BRENNAN: The Supreme Court is going to take on that Colorado case, where the state was going to remove him from the ballot citing insurrection and the 14th Amendment. The Special Counsel Jack Smith, charged Donald Trump with a number of things, insurrection was not one of them. So given that it doesn’t meet that Justice Department standard, do you think the Supreme Court will ultimately disqualify Trump?

CHENEY: We’ll see what happens in the courts. If you look at the Select Committee’s work, we made a criminal referral with respect to the part of the 14th amendment that talks about providing aid and comfort to an insurrection. I certainly believe that Donald Trump’s behavior rose to that level, I believe that he ought to be disqualified from holding office in the future. It’s working its way through the courts. And in the meantime, and in any case, we have to be prepared to ensure that we can defeat him at the ballot box, which ultimately I believe we’ll be able to do.

BRENNAN: The Supreme Court may ultimately hear it but right now, the DC Circuit will be taking on this question of presidential immunity from criminal prosecution this Tuesday. Lindsey Graham was on this program, the senator, last Sunday saying no one’s immune from prosecution, but presidents do have immunity in order to do their job. And he said Trump just gave a fiery speech. As a conservative, what do you make of this and the broader argument that this will be undermining presidential immunity?

CHENEY: Look, I think that there’s no basis for an assertion that the President of the United States is completely immune from criminal prosecution for acts in office. And I suspect that that’s what the Court will hold. I think it’s really important for people as they’re looking at all of this litigation to recognize what Donald Trump’s trying to do. He’s trying to suppress the evidence. He’s trying to delay his trial, because he doesn’t want people to see the witnesses will testify against him. And we just saw again, this morning news reports that Dan Scavino, Pat Cipollone, testimony that they have apparently given in front of the grand jury, that once again confirms, you know, what we were able to discover in the select committee confirms that Donald Trump did not want to tell people to go home, did not want to tell the mob to leave the capitol, that he watched the attack on television. And Trump knows that the witnesses in his trial are not his political opponents. He knows that they’re going to be the people who are closest to him, the people that he appointed, and he doesn’t want the American people to see that evidence before they vote. They have a right to see that evidence before they vote. And so I think it’s very important he not be able to delay his trial
