Ed Martin: Ed Martin here on the Pro America Report. Time to check in with David Horowitz, who is a prolific author – legendary, really – activist and an author. And his new book is The Radical Mind: The Destructive Plan of the Woke Left. There’s almost nobody better, with about 50, 60 years of active engagement with the Left as he started out on that side of the aisle and came across. And again, the book is Radical Mind: The Destructive Plan of the Woke Left. Welcome back, David Horowitz, New York Times bestselling author of many, many books.
So, David, before we get into the book – but I think it overlaps – do you, when you see the forces arrayed now in opposition to Trump, and let’s just assume for the argument he gets the nomination. They can’t let him win, right? I mean, that’s part of the destruction. They just have to stop it, don’t they?
David Horowitz: Yeah. It’s life and death for them, Ed, and it’s personal too, because they’re all criminals. When I say all, I mean the leadership of the Democrat Party. So they all fear that they’re going to go to jail if he gets elected. So they have powerful incentives to fix the election, which they’re very good at. And which Republicans are really poor at preventing.
EM: David Horowitz, do you think – and the book is The Radical Mind: The Destructive Plans of the Woke Left – I have heard recently, David, people say the woke movement has sort of slowed. It’s even, people say, you know, it’s petering out. I assume based on your book, you don’t think that’s right at all?
DH: Not even based on my book – all I have to do is turn on the news. Our universities are Nazi indoctrination centers now, and I use that word advisedly, that they have all these young people brainwashed to support a second Holocaust.
My book is a lot – The Radical Mind is a lot about how leftists think or don’t think. How is it that we have this generation and its massive – I mean, let’s not ignore the actual threat. Its massive that supports the Nazi agenda, which is the extermination of the Jews. Probably the most unthinkable result possible. And what could be worse than reviving the Nazi virus in our educational system and in our streets?
And you know there are going to be terrorist attacks because Biden – I can’t say enough about Joe, what a reprehensible person Joe Biden is, but he’s opened our borders. So we have 8 million people here who are unvetted. And if you were the head of a terrorist operation, would you not – how could you resist taking advantage of this situation?
So I see very dark days ahead. My book The Radical Mind is really how radicals think. People who have never been ideologues – and that’s conservatives generally – have a very hard time understanding the radical thought process. And so their reactions are, “This is crazy. This is, you know, surreal. It’s out of touch with reality.” Chuck Schumer, for whom I have very little or respect, gave a speech about the persecution of the Jews because the Democrat Party is threatened by the divisions over supporting Hamas.
And what he did was, he went through the facts of how Israel was created and how the Jews have been persecuted for thousands of years and so forth. And this, I guarantee you, fell on deaf ears among, people who’ve been to Harvard.
EM: We’re talking with David Horowitz, the author of the new book The Radical Mind. He’s, of course, a New York Times bestselling author. And I should have said at the beginning, he’s the founder and CEO of the David Horowitz Freedom Center out in California, has some great people on his team that do a great job.
DH: Here’s the way the Left doesn’t think; the Left formulates an abstraction. In this case, “colonial settler,” the Jews are “colonial settlers.” The minute you hear that, if you’re a leftist, you know what side you’re on. You’re on the side of the resistance and liberation movement, to free the occupied and oppressed from the occupiers. There’s no reality whatsoever to that claim of occupation. It’s a complete fiction. When Israel was created, there were no Palestinians. There was no people in the Middle East calling themselves Palestinian.
The national identity “Palestinian” was invented in 1964. Israel was created in 1948. The Palestine Symphony in 1948 was a Jewish symphony. Palestine is not even an Arab word. It’s a Latin word. And the Roman Empire imposed it on this area, which was the homeland of the Jews. That’s the West Bank today, Judea and Samaria.
Jews are the only indigenous people there. The Roman Empire imposed the term “Palestine” as a derivative of “Philistine.” The Philistines were enemies of the Jews, and the Arabs just picked it up a thousand years later to use it as a weapon because everybody’s on the side of self-determination, anti-colonial liberation, and resistance to oppression. You hear this “occupied Palestine” crap everywhere among the indoctrinated. This is a complete fiction.
EM: David, David Horowitz, our guest. David, I’ve got 2 minutes left. I want to ask you this question.
DH: All right.
EM: You mentioned earlier that people who have not been ideologues or in an ideology or are kind of extreme can’t understand the mindset. Here’s my question: are too many Americans too far from that reality to get mobilized? I mean, one of the problems is, if you don’t think it’s an existential threat –
DH: When you invite 8 million unvetted, you know there’s going to be consequences. And there have been. And that’s why Biden’s poll ratings are so low. And I think most people understand that Biden is a traitor, that, you know, takes the $20 or $50 million, however much it is, distributed among his family and himself, and sells out his country to China and other enemies of the United States.
You don’t get $20 million payments for nothing. And if something is legitimate, you don’t create 20 shell corporations to hide the identities of the source of the payments and the recipients. It’s so obvious how guilty this man is. He makes Benedict Arnold look like a Boy Scout.
Biden’s National Park Service to Remove William Penn Statue from Philadelphia
The National Park Service, under President Joe Biden, has announced that it intends to remove the statue of William Penn from Welcome Park in Philadelphia — the historic home of the founder of Pennsylvania, and an important early colonial figure.
In a statement Friday, the National Park Service said (emphasis added):
The National Park Service proposes to rehabilitate Welcome Park to provide a more welcoming, accurate, and inclusive experience for visitors. Welcome Park was designed by the internationally acclaimed design firm Venturi & Scott Brown Associates. The park is located on the site of William Penn’s home, the Slate Roof House, and is named for the ship, Welcome, which transported Penn to Philadelphia. The design and construction of Welcome Park was funded by the Independence Historical Trust and was completed in 1982.
The proposed rehabilitation of Welcome Park includes expanded interpretation of the Native American history of Philadelphia and was developed in consultation with representatives of the indigenous nations of the Haudenosaunee, the Delaware Nation, Delaware Tribe of Indians, the Shawnee Tribe, and the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma. The reimagined Welcome Park maintains certain aspects of the original design such as the street grid, the rivers and the east wall while adding a new planted buffer on three sides, and a ceremonial gathering space with circular benches. The Penn statue and Slate Roof house model will be removed and not reinstalled. In a separate and future effort, new exhibit panels will be installed on the south site wall to replace the Penn timeline.
The public is invited to submit comments on this proposed design for the rehabilitation of Welcome Park for a 14-day period from January 8th – 21st, 2024 through the National Park Service’s Planning, Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) at https://parkplanning.nps.gov.
Penn is a uniquely respected figure in American history. A Quaker, he treated the Native Americans of the area with respect and deference. However, he also owned slaves, which has led to the removal of his name from some historic sites.
Philadelphia’s Independence Hall describes Welcome Park, and Penn’s importance to the founding of the United States:
Welcome Park was built by the Friends of Independence National Historical Park in 1982 to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the founding of Pennsylvania by William Penn in 1682. It was designed by world-renowned architectural firm Venturi, Rauch and Scott Brown. It is named for William Penn’s ship, the Welcome. It is located on the site of the Slate Roof House, Penn’s residence in Philadelphia from 1699-1701, across the street from the City Tavern. This outdoor “museum” celebrates the life of the colony’s founder. It was here as Proprietor of Pennsylvania that Penn penned the regulations for city and state government. It was here too that Penn promulgated the Charter of Privileges, guaranteeing religious liberty and civil freedoms to the inhabitants of “Penn’s Woods.” About four score and seven years later the Continental Congress drafted the United States Constitution which owes much in spirit to Penn’s Charter.
In his now-infamous remarks on the Charlottesville riot in 2017 — during which he actually condemned the neo-Nazis and white supremacists, contrary to the Democratic Party’s continued propaganda — then-President Donald Trump warned that the removal of Confederate statues would be followed by the removal of statues of American heroes — a prediction that continues to be fulfilled.
Biden kicked off his 2024 reelection campaign last week in Pennsylvania. He has not announced plans to rename the state.

Poll: Majority of Voters Believe Joe Biden ‘Likely’ Involved in Family Business
A majority of voters believe President Joe Biden was “likely” involved “inappropriately” in his family’s business, a Thursday J.L. Partners poll found.
The survey found the following statistics about how likely voters believe it is that Biden was involved in his family’s business ventures:
- Very likely: 38 percent
- Quite likely: 20 percent
- Don’t know: 8 percent
- Quite unlikely: 11 percent
- Very unlikely: 22 percent
Even one-third of Democrats believe it is very or quite likely Biden involved himself inappropriately in his family’s business.
The poll sampled 1,000 likely voters. The margin of error was not provided.
Biden denies he spoke to his family members about their business and that Hunter Biden earned money from his ventures in China, though Hunter acknowledged the receipt of “China money” in court documents.

C-SPANPrevious polling shows Americans are skeptical of Joe Biden’s claims:
- ABC News/Ipsos: A plurality of Americans are not confident about how the Justice Department handled its investigation into Hunter.
- Yahoo/YouGov: A majority of voters believe Joe Biden committed a crime with Hunter.
- TIPP: Sixty-three percent say Joe Biden violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) by assisting Hunter in the Burisma Holdings deal.
The polling comes after the House voted to formally open an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden to provide investigators the means to compel information the White House refuses to provide Congress. The Biden administration failed to provide investigators:
- Information about two loan agreements Joe Biden allegedly executed with James Biden for a total of $240,000
- 99.98 percent of requested records from President Joe Biden, including alias emails
- Documents about an alleged $5 million bribe Joe Biden allegedly accepted
- Materials related to Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified documents
House investigators initially announced they would investigate the Biden family in November 2022. They later revealed Joe Biden received money from James Biden and Hunter Biden. They also showed that nine additional Biden family members received payments from the family’s foreign business ventures, including two of Joe Biden’s grandchildren.

Al Sharpton Leads Protest Against Bill Ackman; Retribution for Claudine Gay
Al Sharpton, a radical organizer with a platform on MSNBC and wide influence within the Democratic Party, led a protest Thursday outside the New York City office of billionaire investor Bill Ackman to protest the resignation, days before, of Harvard president Claudine Gay.
Ackman, a Harvard donor, was a key figure in making the public case against Gay — first for her weak response to antisemitism on campus; second for the policies of “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI) that allegedly played a role in her hiring; and finally in the plagiarism scandal that appeared to tip the balance against her after the Harvard Corporation had backed her completely.
Gay’s selection process was the shortest in 70 years, according to the Harvard Crimson — and her six-month term in office was the shortest of any president in Harvard’s history. She was selected over 600 other candidates despite a thin academic record.
Her performance evoked criticism of DEI policies — as did the outbreak of antisemitism, which highlighted the way in which concerns about racial “justice” had been hijacked by radical activists to push extreme political agendas, in this case attacks on Israel and on Jews, who had been placed on the “wrong” side of the oppressor / oppressed divide in DEI’s peculiar ideology.
Gay claimed she was a victim of racism, and left-wing pundits and activists have pushed back against criticism of DEI policies following her resignation. There has also been a concerted effort to punish Ackman — and his family — for leading the charge.
On Thursday, Sharpton and his National Action Network — both of which have had major tax problems in the past — picketed Ackman’s New York City’s office. BET reported:
Members of [Sharpton’s] organization, the National Action Network chanted “No justice, no peace!” and “When DEI is under attack, what do we do? Stand up, fight back!” The demonstrators also held signs that “This is good trouble,” a nod to the late civil rights icon and congressman John Lewis.
Speaking to reporters following the protest, Sharpton shared the importance of organizing the demonstration.
“This issue is not just about what they did to the president of Harvard University. It’s about the use [of her] as a scapegoat to fight DEI,” Sharpton said. “We would not have to have DEI if we wouldn’t have D-E-N-Y. We were denied. DEI was to make up for the denial historically of Blacks, of women, of gays, Latinos, and Asians.”
Sharpton has a long history of racism, homophobia, and antisemitism. He was a key figure in inflaming the death of Trayvon Martin in 2012, following which race relations in America plummeted, as the Black Lives Matter movement arose and racial ideology became the predominant filter of political debate.
Following Sharpton’s protest, Ackman’s wife, former Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Neri Oxman, was accused of plagiarizing several passages in her 2010 dissertation — a clear attempt to retaliate against Ackman for Gay’s early departure.
