This week, 17 Senate Republicans joined Democrats to approve sending Ukraine another $60 billion. Twelve of those Republicans previously suggested they would not help send Ukraine any more American taxpayer money until the United States’s border was secure from illegal immigration.

On Thursday, Sens. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Susan Collins (R-ME), John Cornyn (R-TX), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), John Kennedy (R-LA), Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Mitt Romney (R-UT), Mike Rounds (R-SD), Dan Sullivan (R-AK), John Thune (R-SD), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Roger Wicker (R-MS), and Todd Young (R-IN) joined every Senate Democrat excluding Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) to send billions more in taxpayer dollars to Ukraine.

The money, if approved by the House, will fund weapons and military training, among other things, for Ukraine in its war with Russia.

Twelve of those Republicans who voted for the Ukraine funding, coupled with $14.1 billion for Israel in its war with Hamas, previously suggested to the media that they would not support more funding for Ukraine until America’s own southern border was secure.”So in order for our national security interests to be served, we must have a four-prong approach here. Israel, the border, Ukraine, and Taiwan,” Capito said in December 2023, for example, while Cassidy said, “We got to support our allies, but we got to secure our own border first and the Biden administration has not done so” the same month.

Similarly, in December 2023, Ernst said ,”The issue is not Ukraine, and it’s not President Zelensky. It’s our own national security at our southern border” and Collins called reforms at the southern border an “absolutely essential part” of any funding package that includes more money for Ukraine.

In December 2023, Cornyn, Grassley, Kennedy, Romney, Sullivan, Thune, and Wicker all gave statements to the media suggesting the southern border was a priority for them ahead of Ukraine:

“They want tens of billions of dollars to help our friends and allies overseas, but they’re not willing to do what’s necessary to prevent a potential crisis at the border. The Biden administration just does not seem to care,” Cornyn said.

“If there isn’t something reached in regard to our own border and we seem to have concern about the border of Israel and Gaza, Russia and Ukraine, we have to have the same consideration about our own border,” Grassley said.

“Now, the president sent us a national security bill and we said, OK, we’re going to do national security, but we’re not going to pass your bill until you close the border. And the president said, surely you’re not serious. And the Republicans in the Senate said, don’t call me Shirley and we are serious. We’re as serious as four heart attacks and a stroke,” Kennedy said.

“So, we want to solve that to secure the border. I just saw the President of the United States say that we’ve got to secure the border. He’s right. So, any effort that doesn’t do that will be rejected by Republicans,” Romney said.

“Republicans are not bluffing: There will be no agreement on further Ukraine aid without serious measures to secure America’s own border. Our border is priority number one,” Sullivan said.

“A lot of us Republicans are very eager to get Ukraine the aid it needs. But we cannot – we cannot – tend to our national security interests abroad while ignoring the national security crisis on our own doorstep,” Thune said.

“We needed to demonstrate that Republicans are not going to pass a supplemental appropriation bill unless it takes care of very important restrictions on the southern border,” Wicker said.

Young said last month about the southern border, “I don’t believe we should take this off the table… let’s get something consequential done for the American people” while in negotiations with other Senators.

McConnell, who has previously said that Ukraine is Republicans’ number one priority, told the media in November 2023 that “any serious supplemental legislation with a shot of passing the Senate in the coming weeks will have to take meaningful steps toward fixing the Biden administration’s border crisis.”

Likewise, Rounds was abundantly clear in November 2023 when he said that “Any bill with aid for Israel and Ukraine must include policy changes at our southern border.”

Already, American taxpayers have been forced to send at least $113 billion to Ukraine in their war with Russia. The latest pool of money, if approved by the House and signed by President Joe Biden, would ensure that nearly $200 billion gets into the hands of Ukraine officials — much of which has gone unaccounted for.

Oregon County Declares State of Emergency After 4 Fentanyl Overdoses in 6 Hours

Emergency personnel in a small Oregon city had to respond to four separate fentanyl overdoses in a span of just six hours on Tuesday. By the next day, the entire county was placed in a state of emergency due to the prominence of the deadly drug.

Officials in Bend — a city of about 100,000 people, more than three hours south of Portland — first responded to a fentanyl overdose around 8:00 a.m. at Second Street and Franklin Avenue, KTVZ reported.

Just before 1:00 p.m., police found two more people overdosing on fentanyl in the parking lot of a Jimmy John’s sandwich shop.

Only 46 minutes had elapsed by the time police had to again respond to the area of the first overdose to aid someone else also suffering from fentanyl poisoning.

All four individuals survived with the help of Narcan administered by first responders, according to the local news station.

The life-saving overdose reversal drug has been carried by Bend police and numerous other law enforcement agencies around the country due to the uptick in fentanyl usage in recent years. In October 2023, the Biden administration urged schools across the nation to stock up on Narcan.

In a letter from U.S. Secretary of Education Michael Cardona and National Drug Control Policy Director Rahul Gupta to school administrators, it was stated that the number of fatal drug overdoses in 2022 was “unacceptably high” at 107,000.

“In the midst of this fentanyl overdose epidemic, it is important to focus on measures to prevent youth drug use and ensure that every school has naloxone and has prepared its students and faculty to use it,” the officials wrote, using the generic name of the drug.

The four overdoses taking place in such a short period “stretched” Bend Fire & Rescue’s resources to the brink, KTVZ reported, citing EMS Chief Drew Norris.

“For a typical overdose call, they respond with an ambulance and two engines,” Norris said.

Following Bend’s crisis on Tuesday, Deschutes County commissioners voted to enact a 90-day countywide fentanyl state of emergency, closely echoing the one declared in Portland by Gov. Tina Kotek (D-OR) on January 30.

“We have fentanyl everywhere and our young people are dying,” said Patti Adair, Deschutes County Commission Chair. “We need to solve this problem.”

“Now is the time for action. We’re experiencing a crisis and need the community to understand how dangerous this is,” said Deschutes County Commissioner Tony DeBone. “We need the community to come together and look out for one another. This is getting worse every day.”

Commissioner Phil Chang abstained from the vote due to the response strategy not being “fully developed.”

“We are absolutely having a crisis,” Chang said. “However, I am abstaining from today’s vote because I don’t think our next steps have been fully developed. I want to better understand what actions the County is prepared to take.”

While the order doesn’t actually include any official new policies or resources, commissioners DeBone and Adair voted for the declaration due to the increased awareness it will bring to the issue.

Both commissioners have lobbied the state legislature in recent days to make changes to Measure 110, the drug decriminalization act that Oregonians now largely want reversed after seeing dastardly effects in the three years since it passed.

US, Mexico Increase Data Sharing to Curb Fentanyl Trade

‘We all agreed that this is a shared threat not only for us countries in North America, but around the globe,’ one official said.

Opioid-related overdose deaths have skyrocketed over the past decade.

Deaths because of synthetic opioids such as fentanyl have seen the largest spike, increasing by more than 580 percent annually from 2012 to 2017, and remain elevated, according to the National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics.
Mexico and the United States are most hard-pressed to combat the illicit flow of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid primarily manufactured in Latin America with precursor chemicals imported from communist China.

‘Pawn Stars’ Boss Rick Harrison Blasts Biden’s Border Policies Over ‘Disgusting’ Fentanyl Crisis After Son’s Death

Rick Harrison, the star of the popular Pawn Stars TV series, is blasting Joe Biden’s massive failures at the border in the wake of his son’s death from a fentanyl overdose.

Harrison’s son, Adam, who was not part of his father’s TV show, died at 39 from an overdose of the drug on Jan. 19.

Now, during an interview with Fox News, the 59-year-old TV star praised Donald Trump and slammed politicians now in charge for being “complicit” in the millions of fentanyl deaths befalling this country.

“He’s an incredible individual. He wants to do something about this,” Harrison said of Trump and his desire to end the flow of fentanyl coming across the border by drug running criminals.

“There’s so many different places you have to start at, all at once, but one of the major ones is get the damn stuff out of the country and stop making it so cheap to get high,” Harrison continued.

“My understanding is it’s like $5 to buy a fentanyl pill. Anybody can afford it. I mean, make it difficult,” he said.

“Let’s start arresting the people selling it, arresting the people bringing it over the border, close down the border, make it really expensive. Let’s make a fentanyl death rare,” he said.

“It’s insane because they’re letting it happen,” he said of today’s politicians in charge of policy. “They’re literally letting it happen. They’re not doing anything about it. So they’re complicit in all these deaths.”

“Nothing is getting done about it,” Harrison said of the illegal drugs sweeping the country. “It’s the equivalent of a 737 loaded with passengers crashing every single day. That’s how many people die from it. And, you know, the politicians don’t want to talk about it. The news doesn’t want to talk about it.”

“A big part of is politics. I mean, we know where it’s all coming from. It’s all coming right across the border, and they won’t do anything about it. I mean, they’re doing nothing,” he insisted.

U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, Urban Affairs

Harrison went on to blast Joe Biden’s regime for trying to sue Texas to for the Lone Star State from protecting its own borders.

“Literally, we have a government that’s suing the state saying, ‘No, you can’t block tons of people coming into this country,'” the TV star said. “We don’t know what they’re carrying on them. And we don’t know what kind of people they are. It’s insanity. I mean, we just need common sense.”

“I think any drug dealer that sells fentanyl, I mean, they should get at least manslaughter charges,” Harrison exclaimed. “Just selling the stuff should be attempted murder. I mean, it’s that bad and nothing’s being done about it.”

Harrison then pointed out that so many cities in the U.S. are “turning into third-world countries because of this drug,” and slammed liberal state such as Oregon for treating abuse of the drug so lightly, adding, “Like in Oregon, you can have fentanyl on you. It’s like a $20 ticket.”

C-SPAN

Harrison suggested that the first thing that needs to be done is to “shut down the border.” He also advised an end to the left’s latest popular notion of “no bail” rules, and that penalties for selling or possessing fentanyl need to be stiffened.

He also railed about all the billions being spent in Ukraine when there are so many problems that such a huge amount of money could have helped fix in the U.S.A.

“You take Ukraine. I mean, we could have built like 10 border walls. We could have fixed the freeways in this country,” he continued. “For all the money we gave them, there’s so many things we could have fixed,” the exasperated TV star said.

“I think there was one figure — we could have gave every homeless veteran $1 million for the money we’re spending over there. I mean, think about that. We’re doing nothing for homeless veterans, but we’re giving credit cards to illegal aliens, housing them for free and sending all this money to Ukraine,” he said.
