Former Acting ICE Director: Biden Administration Giving Green Light to Sex Traffickers, Child Traffickers
(CNSNews.com) – Former Acting ICE Director Tom Homan accused the Biden administration on Monday of “empowering the criminal cartels to smuggle the most vulnerable people in dangerous situations.”
Homan told “Fox News Primetime” that he used to have to look kids in their faces when they’ve crossed the border, and that’s why he gets so emotional when talking about the subject.
“And that's why a lot of people ask me why do you get so emotional on some of your interviews? Why do you yell at Congress? Because if people saw what I saw in my 34-year career, they’d be angry, too, because I’ve held dying children. I’ve held a dying child that suffocated to death in the back of a tractor-trailer in his father's arms. I found dead women. I’ve talked to women who were raped over 20 times making that journey,” he said.
“And what the Biden administration is doing is, as you said, giving a green light to sex traffickers, child traffickers that's you’re back in business. It's not compassion to put your children in the arms of criminal cartels. They don't care about these people. They’re nothing but a product, but once they get to their final destination, they get paid for them. During Operation Ice Storm in Phoenix, Arizona, if an alien couldn't pay the smuggling fees, they torture them. They kill them,” Homan said.
“I was there. I ran that operation. One person couldn't pay a smuggler's fee was stabbed in the face over 20 times. That's how he died. So for this administration to say they’re acting compassionately, no. You are empowering the criminal cartels to smuggle the most vulnerable people in dangerous situations. People are going to die. Women are going to be sexually assaulted. There is no compassion in this plan at all,” he added.
On the question of transparency, Homan said that the Biden administration can’t compare to the Trump administration. He said the White House saying that it will send out footage of the conditions at the border is “not transparency at all.”
“You can say what you want about President Trump. They hated him, but President Trump was down on the border all the time talking to the men and women. We let cameras in our detention facilities. We wanted the reporters there to show them, look, we have a serious crisis, humanitarian issue that we are dealing with,” Homan said.
“The Biden administration, first of all, the secretary gets on ‘Fox News Sunday’ and lies to the American people and say the border is closed and is secure. It is far from closed and secure. So they are hiding the truth from the American people in this, because there isn’t an accident. This isn't a mistake. They planned this. This is by design. This is what open borders looks like,” he said.
Fox News host Brian Kilmeade pointed out that President Joe Biden and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas dealt with the issue when they were vice president and deputy homeland security secretary respectively, and they know how to fix the crisis at the border. In fact, Homan worked with Biden and Mayorkas to fix it.
“And how did we fix it? We built thousands of detention beds. We held people to see a judge, and 90 percent of them lost their case. And guess what? ICE removed them, and what happened when they saw the people coming home? The border numbers went down, and we removed the enticements,” Homan said.
“What's this administration doing? And they know better. Like you said, Ali Mayorkas was there, and so was Joe Biden. They are ending detention. They want to get these people out as quickly as possible - less than three days. ICE has been decapitated,” the former acting ICE director said.
“They can no longer execute removal orders from judges, and you just keep adding more and more enticements like … saying we’re going to put you in hotel rooms at $86 million at the same time we have homeless vets in the streets of Washington, D.C., would love to be in hotel rooms to take a hot shower but we are going to take care of those and keep enticing more illegal aliens across that border,” he said.
Homan predicted that the situation at the border will only get worse, especially when the Biden administration gets rid of Title 42 of the United States Code Section 265, enacted on March 21, 2020 during the Trump administration, which relies on a 1944 public health statute to indefinitely close the border to non-essential travel because of COVID.
“It's going to get worse. When they end Title 42, we’re in trouble. You’re gonna see a surge like you’ve never seen before, but as long as the administration is lying about when you say the border is secure. There’s over 1,000 got aways a day, Brian, over 1,000. We don't know if they have COVID. We don't know if they are gang members,” he said.
“When they tie the Border Patrol up with these family groups, 50 percent of the Border Patrol is no longer on the line, and the cartels send it through one sector. That's when they move the drugs and bad guys through. This is a national security issue not just a humanitarian issue,” Homan added.
What we are seeing here is plain old garden variety Mexican
meddling in our internal affairs, this time rooted in some icky
festering wounded national pride, some bid from Mexico to
assert itself over U.S. laws in the wake of Trump's muscle on
Mexico over the illegal migrant surge, using the U.S. courts with
their continuous anti-Trump rulings to make itself the sovereign
here. Mexico has already sent their illegals and now they want to
take over gubernatorially through the courts, which puts this act
on a continuum.
Lawsuit: California Sheriff Released More than 2.4K Criminal Illegal Aliens
The former sheriff of San Francisco, California, released more than 2,400 criminal illegal aliens back into United States communities during her tenure, a lawsuit alleges.
In a lawsuit against former San Francisco Sheriff Vicki Hennessy, who was in office from January 2016 to January 2020, the watchdog group Judicial Watch alleges that the law enforcement office built an extremely rigid sanctuary policy to shield criminal illegal aliens from arrest and deportation by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Hennessy, according to the lawsuit, released 2,401 criminal illegal aliens back into the neighboring communities rather than turning them over to ICE agents for arrest and deportation. The lawsuit alleges:
The policy is so effective in regulating immigration and obstructing Congress’ purposes under federal immigration law that, in over 2,401 known instances, it has never resulted in ICE taking into custody a single alien, not even aliens with significant criminal backgrounds wanted for removal.
Over the four-year period, Hennessy’s office only notified ICE agents in three criminal illegal alien cases, according to the lawsuit. In a release by Judicial Watch, expert testimony reveals specific cases in which Hennessy’s office released criminal illegal aliens in their custody:
- A citizen of Cuba faced charges for burglary and a parole violation, with a prior burglary conviction.
- A citizen of Vietnam faced charges for robbery, battery, and assault.
- A citizen of Ethiopia was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a peace officer, receiving stolen property, a parole violation, and had prior convictions for stolen property crimes.
- A citizen of Mexico had a long list of current and prior offenses, including convictions for assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, felony assault, false imprisonment, burglary, vehicle theft, and probation violations, including one revocation of probation. This individual appeared to have been arrested at least nine times between January 2015 and March 2020.
- A citizen of Honduras was facing instant charges of burglary. His 5-page rap sheet included prior convictions on felonies such as burglary while in possession of a concealed, loaded firearm, giving false information to an officer, child endangerment, theft, domestic violence, robbery, assault, and violating a restraining order.
- Another citizen of Mexico was facing instant charges of robbery, domestic violence and assault and also was the subject of an ICE detainer and warrant of arrest after a biometric match with DHS records. The alien had three recent, separate, prior felony convictions: two for auto theft and one for burglary, which had occurred over a 15-month period ending two and one-half years prior to the instant offense.
- A citizen of Ukraine was arrested and held to answer for a felony burglary charge, along with false imprisonment, receiving stolen property, threatening an officer, and a firearms charge. Two years prior, he was convicted on a robbery charge, among other offense.
- Another citizen of Mexico was held to answer on felony burglary charges, false imprisonment, and adult kidnapping charges. The alien had prior burglary convictions, one occurring one year prior to the instant charge, and another occurring four years prior, for which he was sentenced to 364 days plus probation.
- A citizen of Cambodia was facing instant charges for assault with a deadly weapon, murder, and a loaded firearm violation.
“Judicial Watch’s taxpayer lawsuit shows that the San Francisco Sheriff’s sanctuary policy is not only unlawful but is a clear and present danger to the public safety,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement.
The lawsuit comes as recent investigations have shown the extent to which sanctuary politicians will go to shield criminal illegal aliens from ICE arrest and deportation.
A recent report by the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) found that district attorneys such as Diana Becton in Contra Costa County, California — all funded by billionaire George Soros — have set policies that seek to reduce immigration consequences for convicted criminals.
In October 2019, federal officials revealed that law enforcement agencies in Los Angeles, California, released about 100 criminal illegal aliens every day back into neighboring communities.
The lawsuit was filed in the Superior Court of the State of California for the County of San Francisco. The case number is CGC-16-556164.
