Texas Governor Greg Abbott in Dallas on Wednesday about the growing surge of migrants at the U.S. border with Mexico. The governor directly blamed President Joe Biden’s open borders policies for the humanitarian crisis.

Governor Abbott spoke at a hotel located across the street from the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas where FEMA is housing some 3,000 teenage boys ages 15 to 17. Breitbart Texas reported the teens would stay at the convention center for up to 90 days.

“These sites are a direct result of President Biden’s reckless open border policies that are causing a surge in crossings and cartel activity,” Abbott said. “The administration has yet to provide answers that Texans deserve.”

“U.S. Health and Human Services will open the center to take some of the strain off Border Patrol, which is not supposed to hold children for more than three days but has been forced to do so for much longer,” KXAN added. “At least 3,000 children had been in custody longer than that 72-hour limit.”

The Biden administration claims that it is sending adults and families back because of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) coronavirus order but is allowing children — or mostly older teens — admission into the country.

The Austin NBC affiliate’s report continued:

According to Abbott, Biden’s administration needs to provide information on where these migrants have come from and a timeline of how long they’ll be in Texas/the U.S.

The governor said that so far this year, 11,000 minors have been apprehended crossing the border into Texas, which he claims is a 60% increase between January (which was under the Trump administration) and February.

“On Monday alone, the Border Patrol took in about 280 child migrants in the Rio Grande Valley sector. America needs to know how these children — some are young children — are coming across the border and who is it that is helping these children across the border,” the Texas governor explained.

Abbott added that he asked the Biden administration to allow Texas officials to interview minors being held at the facility. The governor also said he is expanding the Operation Lonestar program to combat human trafficking.

Abbott expressed concern that individuals entering the country could be ill, including those who may be infected with the coronavirus.

“Are they being tested for COVID?” Abbott asked. “And if so, how is the administration handling those who test positive?”

“Texas is willing to step up and help out,” the governor concluded. “But this is the Biden administration’s responsibility … the Biden administration has made it clear that if you are an unaccompanied child, you will be allowed to come into the United States.”

Large Migrant Groups Continue Crossing Border into Texas — 24K in Two Weeks

Border Patrol agents in the nation’s busiest sector continue to encounter large groups of migrants illegally crossing from Mexico into South Texas. Nearly 24,000 were apprehended in the last two weeks alone — nearly 28,000 for all of February.

Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents continue to apprehend large groups of migrants illegally crossing the border. Chief Patrol Agent Brian Hastings tweeted last Friday that nearly 24,000 migrants had been taken into custody in his sector during the past two weeks. Hundreds more were apprehended in the days that followed.

On Saturday morning, agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station encountered a group of 134 migrants after they illegally crossed the border near Las Lomas, Texas. The agents identified 128 migrants as family units — mostly from Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Nicaragua.

A few hours later, agents from this same station encountered another large group of migrants near La Grulla, Texas. In this incident, the agents apprehended 113 migrants composed of family units and unaccompanied alien children, officials stated. Included in the 113 migrants were 17 Romanian nationals. The balance came to the U.S. from Central America, officials stated.

“Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation,” officials said in a written statement.

Last week, Rio Grande Valley Sector agents apprehended large groups of mostly family-unit migrants from Central America near La Grulla, La Joya, and Roma. These groups totaled 339 migrants from Central America, Romania, and Cuba, officials stated.

“Despite the inherent dangers of crossing the treacherous Rio Grande, illegal aliens continue to risk their lives to enter the United States,” Border Patrol officials stated. “In recent days, Border Patrol has conducted multiple rescues of individuals, who were set adrift by smugglers. Groups are smuggled on inflatable rafts almost always exceeding the maximum capacity of the rafts, and rarely provided life vests.”

HALF THE POPULATION OF MELTDOWN CA IS MEXICAN! SEVEN OUT OF TEN OF THESE 'CHEAP' LABOR ILLEGALS RECEIVE SOME FORM OF WELFARE.

And now, thanks in large part to Nancy’s delaying tactics, $1,400 each is flowing to an untold number of illegals. Zing! Hundreds of thousands are now surging toward our borders; many millions are seriously contemplating that move. The powerful snap-back of that too-tight cord will be felt not just here, but across the world.

Biden and his team are also fueling debt bondage, human trafficking, cartel warfare and massacres, rape and assault on vulnerable women and children, and more sophisticated drug production in Mexico. It may take a few more months of multiple hundreds of thousands streaming across the border, but soon it will be apparent that the left’s thoughtless pandering will overwhelm the very American cities that put them in office.

Illegal Immigration’s Consequences Are the Pits

Who had “building even more temporary housing for illegals at the border” on their bingo card?

As a modern, civilized, peace-loving country, we understand that our stability and security depend, in part, on stable and secure neighbors and allies. Joe “no crisis on my border” Biden and the Democrats are enriching the cartels, thereby destabilizing our neighbors and allies.

As of 2019, the Census Bureau estimated that there were 45

million foreign-born persons in the United States. That’s quite a

powerful draw for others to immigrate to the U.S. I call it the

bungee effect. Due to numerical limitations, a little more than 1

million immigrants are officially admitted every year. There are

over 3.5 million waiting for their immigrant visas, and over 1

million pending asylum cases to be adjudicated.

Estimates are that around 15 million illegal aliens reside in the U.S. They’re obviously getting by. This only enhances the bungee effect and encourages potential migrants to jump the legal entry lines. Over the past couple of years, Joe and the Dems have tightened that bungee cord to a dangerous level.

On June 27, 2019, Joe & Co. raised their hands and signaled to the world that, should one of them become President, that person would provide free healthcare to illegal migrants. In their party platform, Democrats announced they would stop immigration enforcement activities broadly across many sectors and would pave a pathway to our streets of gold for those illegally resident in the U.S.

Good Ol’ Joe signed an executive order restoring asylum processing at the border, exchanging Trump’s successful “catch and throw back into line” process for the former “catch and release” practice. One effect of this is that sick illegals who are caught and released are not tested for SARS-CoV2. That’s some real compassion there.

Todd Bensman, Senior National Security Fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies, recently wrote about the smuggling cartels’ efforts to manage this surge. Travelers pay $2,000 to $10,000 to get across Mexico and the border. Those coming from abroad pay far more for their entire trip. His recent investigations bear out a Rand Corporation study of a couple of years ago. Smuggling people pays almost as well as smuggling drugs. Billions of dollars a year flowing into the cartels' coffers. Thanks, libsiders.

Jaeson Jones, former Commander of the Texas Rangers Border Security Operations Center and Captain with the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Intelligence and Counter-terrorism Division, was interviewed on a newly released video. The information he shared is alarming.

The entire border is controlled by one cartel or another; all potential illegal immigrants must pay to pass. Human traffickers force travelers into years of bondage to pay off their debts. Rape and abuse along the way are routine. Murder is not uncommon. Mexico has been corrupted and continues to be destabilized by the vast and powerful criminality these organizations manage.

Some of the largest and most violent of these cartels are operating in dozens of other countries. Surely their ability to globalize their operations into other regions of the world is sustained by this rising influx of funding. They have the Progressives to thank for these expanding opportunities.

Bensman is also the author of the recently released book America’s Covert Border War: The Untold Story of the Nation’s Battle to Prevent Jihadist Infiltration. Not only are potential friends part of this mass movement to our heartland, but so are declared enemies. Relaxing border enforcement will only multiply the potential for our failure in this frightening scenario.

According to the Pew Research Center, 60% of all illegal aliens reside in just 20 metropolitan areas, all of which voted blue in 2020. So, how about it, California? If 500,000 more show up by summer, will there be enough water and sewer capacity in your largest cities to take on another 2.5 million flushes each day? How about a million or two more new residents by the end of 2022? Where are the housing and the food, and where are the doctors and nurses to handle all this?

The flood will crash over the sanctuary cities and states like a series of tsunamis. The Dems’ staunchest supporters will see their cities become even more of a dystopian nightmare than they already are. False document vendors and immigration legal services will flourish. Medical and educational infrastructure will falter. Overcrowded housing and exhausted community services will abound.

Will there be a lost generation morphing eventually into a permanent underclass as newly arrived young people opt not for education but to try to work? I predict that the market for used cars will explode putting more dangerous vehicles back on the road. So too will disease, drug use, and trafficking, and felonies. Construction code and workplace safety may be negatively impacted when more and more folks unfamiliar with first-world standards are hired on.

Never mind the clashes that will arise between our college-educated snowflakes and the streets full of those who haven’t mastered wokish. Agribusiness will clamor for more water as agricultural labor will be plentiful. Entry-level jobs for natives and legal immigrants will dry up. Despair, suicide, and drug use will continue to rise as it has under recent restrictions. I believe debt slavery will increase exponentially.

Taking the discussion beyond the virus, Biden’s very dark winter may last a very long time. He did tell us that things will get worse before they get better.

Pelosi Says Joe Biden Blameless for Border Crisis: He’s ‘Not Quite Two Months’ in Office

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) admitted Wednesday there is a crisis at the southwest border, but exonerated President Joe Biden from any and all blame due to his short tenure of office.

“The president has been in office not quite two months,” Pelosi said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“They are addressing it and it will improve,” she said confidently, without offering any evidence to support her claim. She continued  “we are all impatient” when it comes to unaccompanied children at the border.

“As far as the children are concerned, you can imagine me as a mother of five every minute that a parent is separated from a child to me is a crisis,” Pelosi said. “So we want this to move along expeditiously.”

As Breitbart News reported, the crisis at the southern border has been growing for weeks and is now attracting attention on a broader scale as more and more children are arriving on their own.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) told Breitbart News on Tuesday that Biden’s “open border policy” and promises of amnesty are an “invitation” for illegal immigration, human smuggling, and sex trafficking operations run by transnational criminal cartels.

“What we are seeing is a true surge at the border,” Blackburn said on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow. “It is a crisis, and this is a crisis of the Biden administration’s making.

“When President Biden basically said our border is open — you’re not going to be deported, you’re not going to be turned away — people saw that as receiving an engraved invitation to come to the U.S. to get in line and try to get the benefits.”

Biden made his no-deportations promise by pledging “nobody will be deported” from the United States until they commit a felony under his national immigration plan:

Pelosi rejected the notion such Biden policies were a “pull factor” for migrants to come to the U.S. She said people should seek asylum in the United States if they are seeking safety from persecution.

“If they have a well-founded fear of persecution, yes it is agreeable,” Pelosi said. “We have to address the causes of this migration … if we can help them there in our hemisphere that would be a good thing. People generally like to stay home.”

Pelosi appeared to prove Cotton’s point Sunday, when she told ABC that FEMA is going to the border in order “to help facilitate” the transfer of illegal alien children “into family homes”:

"I'm so pleased that the president, as a temporary measure, has sent FEMA to the border in order to help facilitate the children going from one — the 72-hour issue into where they are cared for as they are transferred into family homes or homes that are safe for them to be.”

Watch Live: DHS Mayorkas Defends His Side-Door, Max-Migration Plans

1:41

President Joe Biden’s homeland defense secretary — Alejandro Mayorkas — faces a House oversight hearing today, where he will defend his plans to expand immigration levels by opening side doors in the nation’s immigration law.

On Tuesday, Mayorkas outlined his plan to expand immigration above the roughly one million immigrants annually scheduled by Congress.

“For years, the asylum system has been badly in need of reengineering,” said the March 16 statement by Mayorkas. He continued:

In addition to improving the process by which unaccompanied children are placed with family or sponsors, we will be issuing a new regulation shortly and taking other measures to implement the long-needed systemic reforms.  We will shorten from years to months the time it takes to adjudicate an asylum claim while ensuring procedural safeguards and enhancing access to counsel.

Mayorkas is a lawyer and also a strong supporter of the unpopular claim the United States is a “Nation of Immigrants,” not of Americans. So he can argue his immigration expansion plans complies with the nation’s complex and loopholed immigration law, major parts of which have been written by agency regulators and pro-migration judges. Mayorkas wrote:
