Who Really Benefits From Illegal Immigration? | Victor Davis Hanson

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyRb2xFplKM

So Elon Musk is getting sued by the DOJ for not hiring one of these?

Elon Musk is being sued by the Department of Justice for hiring too many Americans at his SpaceX spacecraft launch company in Texas.

It's an obvious harassment suit, given that Musk has other obligations based on government contracting structure to hire only American citizens and green card holders. He also has some pretty strong security concerns.

That didn't stop the Justice Department from pouring on the glurge, appealing to those tug-on-the-heartstrings emotions to whip up support against him:

Asylees and refugees have overcome many obstacles in their lives, and unlawful employment discrimination based on their citizenship status should not be one of them. Through this lawsuit we will hold SpaceX accountable for its illegal employment practices and seek relief that allows asylees and refugees to fairly compete for job opportunities and contribute their talents to SpaceX’s workforce.”

It was garbage, and always was. Now it comes to light that the U.S. has a rather big vetting problem with foreigners from terrorist nesting grounds it keeps letting in.

According to immigration expert Todd Bensman, writing for the New York Post:

A Pakistani doctor who got an H-1B temporary work visa to join the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., is going to federal prison for incubating a plot to kill fellow Hippocratic oath takers while “behind enemy lines,” as he wrote in an encrypted jihadist social-media channel.

Bensman went on to explain what the problem was:

The typically perfunctory media coverage of this latest Islamic-terror case evaded the civic obligation to explore broader homeland-security questions it naturally raises.

So this guy was an H1-B visa holder, he had a lot of fancy education, Bensman noted that a lot of them do, and he proved to be a problem.

Apparently nobody vetted him. Yet the government insists that it vets these people.

H1-B is a fancy and rarified visa category in a way that "refugee" and "asylee" is not.

The DOJ insists that it vets all its refugees, so Musk has no excuse not to hire them:

Asylees and refugees are migrants to the United States who have fled persecution. To obtain their status, they undergo thorough vetting by the United States government.

Biden's DOJ considers them no different and outright equal to American citizens who are getting all these SpaceX jobs, which DOJ claims they have less right to than "refugees":

Moreover, asylees’ and refugees’ permission to live and work in the United States does not expire, and they stand on equal footing with U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents under export control laws. Under these laws, companies like SpaceX can hire asylees and refugees for the same positions they would hire U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents. And once hired, asylees and refugees can access export-controlled information and materials without additional government approval, just like U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents.

But are refugees and asylees vetted any better than H1B visa holders?

Circumstantial evidence says 'no.'

Number one, they often come from hellhole countries where a public records request from a U.S. official is bound to be met with a horse laugh, if such records exist at all. Try vetting someone from a collapsed or failed state. Anybody checking their social media posts? Talking to their friends and relatives? These things can get expensive.

And there are hundreds of thousands of them being let in.

Two, we have experience. The tens of thousands of Afghan "refugees" admitted to the U.S. during the U.S.'s chaotic exit were largely migrant-aged young men who had pushed their way in front of women, the elderly, and children in order to get a spot on a U.S. evacuation plane out of that country during the U.S.'s chaotic pullout. On character grounds alone they should have been disqualified, but were any of the pushers sent back? No, they were released into the interior of the country, rewarded for trampling onto the bodies of those weaker. Many have been found now to be commiting crimes against U.S. nationals and should have never been let in. But ahh, they were "vetted." Who knows how many of them are terrorist sleepers?

Meanwhile, in more recent news, under Joe Biden's open borders with its catch-and-release, a group of ISIS-sponsored Uzbeks were reportedly let into the interior of the U.S. as "asylum seekrs" with all that vetting and the Biden administration has no idea what happened to them or where they are now.

All of these cases point to one thing: That U.S. government vetting, just like U.S. government mass money distribution, tends to be a failure, this is not something they are good at doing, and way too many bad guys getting in and getting away with something that should not be happening, all because the government lies that they were "vetted."

According to the DOJ, Musk is supposed to be hiring these people.

And not hiring them is "inhumane" even as doing that deprives an American of a job.

Maybe they should try to do their jobs first before insisting that Musk take on all the terrorists and criminals of the world's nastiest places at his elite spacecraft company.

Democrat-Corporate Alliance: Big Banks, BlackRock, Pfizer Back Hochul Plan to Have Americans Bail Out New York for Illegal Immigration

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - JULY 31: NY Gov. Kathy Hochul attends a press conference on gun violence prevention and public safety on July 31, 2023 in New York City. Mayor Adams was joined by NY Gov. Kathy Hochul, NY Attorney General Letitia James, and members of local and state …

The nation’s biggest banks on Wall Street, investment firms, and pharmaceutical companies are among a number of multinational corporations throwing their support behind a plan from New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) that would have American taxpayers bail out the sanctuary state for an illegal immigration influx.

As Breitbart News reported, Hochul unveiled the bailout this week — promising to lobby President Joe Biden for millions, potentially billions, in American taxpayer money that would ensure border crossers and illegal aliens in New York secure jobs, healthcare services, housing vouchers, and free public transit.

“It is past time for President Biden to take action and provide New York with the aid needed to continue managing this ongoing crisis,” Hochul said in an address.

Hochul’s bailout plan is now receiving praise from the corporate lobby, a number of whom are donors to the upstate Democrat.

In a letter from the Partnership for New York City — a coalition of massive multinational corporations — business executives write to Biden that they fully support such a bailout and ask that he consider moving ahead with the plan.

“We write to support the request made by New York Governor Hochul for federal funding for educational, housing, security, and health care services to offset the costs that local and state governments are incurring with limited federal aid,” the executives write.

Most importantly to the corporate lobby, the executives note they want to see the Biden administration release border crossers and illegal aliens into the United States interior with work permits so they can take American jobs and expand the labor market.

Mass immigration is a boon for Wall Street, real estate investors, and corporations as it adds millions of new consumers to the economy, new residents who need housing, and new workers whom employers can hire to keep the price of labor down.

“… there is a compelling need for expedited processing of asylum applications and work permits for those who meet federal eligibility standards,” the executives continue:

Immigration policies and control of our country’s border are clearly a federal responsibility; state and local governments have no standing in this matter.

There are labor shortages in many U.S. industries, where employers are prepared to offer training and jobs to individuals who are authorized to work in the United States. The business community is also providing in-kind assistance and philanthropic support to organizations that are addressing the immediate needs of this largely destitute population.

Executives who signed the letter represent corporations like Pfizer, Paramount, JPMorgan Chase, BlackRock, the WNBA, Citibank, Macy’s, AlleyCorp, Wells Fargo, Blackstone, Etsy, Goldman Sachs, Hearst, Maverick Capital, McGraw Hill, Tapestry Inc., the Georgetown Company, MetLife Inc., the IBM Corporation, LVMH, HSBC Bank USA, Deutsche Bank, Vox Media, and Apollo Global Management, among others.

“… we urge you to take immediate action to better control the border and the process of asylum and provide relief to the cities and states that are bearing the burdens posed by the influx of asylum seekers,” the executives write to Biden.

A number of the executives who signed the letter served as major donors to Hochul’s gubernatorial re-election bid last year against former Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY).

Hochul donors whose companies signed the letter include those linked to Vornado Realty Trust, the Related Companies, Tishman Speyer, the Fisher Brothers, and Standard Industries.

Already, American taxpayers are billed $143 billion annually for costs associated with illegal immigration. This estimate does not include any of the social and economic costs — such as higher housing prices, depleted wages, lost jobs, increased crime, and strained public resources at hospitals and schools.

Zuckerberg’s FWD.us Demands More TPS Amnesties for Illegal Migrants

Billionaire West Coast investors are pressuring the White House to provide legal rights to illegal migrants from Africa and South America.

The legal protections — dubbed Temporary Protected Status (TPS) — would help Democrat mayors sideline rising public opposition in Chicago, New York, Maine, and Boston — but would create more border migration problems for President Joe Biden’s 2024 re-election campaign.

“There is a concern that granting TPS to one nationality will spur others from that country to come here,” a former official told NBC on August 26. “The concern is that word will get out, even through misinformation, and others will think they too can work and live here.”

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas speaks about border security during a briefing at the White House on May 11, 2023, in Washington. (AP Photo/Evan Vucci)

TPS “makes illegal immigrants a more effective factor for chain migration,” said Mark Krikorian, director of the Center for Immigration Studies. Once migrants successfully get TPS, their home country peers face more economic and social pressure to migrate to the United States instead of staying to develop their home country’s economy and society, he told Breitbart News, adding:

Even though certain individuals make more money [in the United States], it is truly disruptive in a way that is not helping these [home country] communities … I’m not sure anybody here cares about [the home-country damage], and I’m not sure anybody running those countries cares about it because they don’t live in those areas.

The president is allowed to provide the amnesty-like TPS status to migrants from a country facing wars and other disasters.

The temporary amnesty makes the migrants legal for 18 months and allows them to get a fast-track work permit. Presidents — including former President Donald Trump — usually extend the status. For example, President Joe Biden has expanded the TPS population to at least 1 million.

But the wealthy West Coast investors want more migrants, and they are pressuring the White House to begin, extend, or expand TPS status for many of the global economic migrants that Biden’s deputies have allowed into the United States.

The advocacy is conducted via Mark Zuckerberg’s FWD.us advocacy group. The group is seeking TPS for migrants from Nicaragua, GuatemalaVenezuela, CameroonMali, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

“The DRC is in of one of the deadliest armed conflicts since WW2 [and] Last year more than 6,000 people were killed and 2 million were displaced,” claimed Todd Schulte, president of FWD.us.

TPS does not cause migrants to join their successful peers in the United States, says a report touted by FWD.us:

Study after study shows that #TPS designations do not act as a pull factor for additional, irregular migration. In fact, obtaining work authorizations from TPS increases remittances to home countries, reducing incentives for additional people to migrate.

But in November 2021, FWD.us president Todd Schulte outlined his hope for more migration from Africa:

I think it is a very reasonable expectation for the future to say, 20 years from now, in the way that we’ve seen this huge increase in employment and immigration from India, [that] “You know over the last 20 years it is Nigeria where there’s a huge number of people coming — lots of English speakers, highly educated — there’s a growing population here now.”

In May, Eric Adams, New York City’s mayor, urged that migrants be given TPS so they could take jobs that would otherwise go to Americans:

We are calling on the White House, the United States Department of Homeland Security to ensure our newest Americans can work lawfully and build stable lives for themselves in our country. Our leaders in Washington must redesignate and extend Temporary Protected Status, also known as TPS. And we want to be included those from Venezuela, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Sudan, South Sudan, Cameroon and other nations. Given the continuing worsening humanitarian crisis in those countries, they are going to pursue the stability that our country has to offer.

Breitbart News has closely covered the group’s campaigns to extract more human resources from Africa and South America for use in the U.S. economy. The group is very influential because of its ties to the Biden administration, the investors’ political donations, and its large network of investor-funded, pro-migration advocacy groups.

FWD.us was created by Facebook founder Zuckerberg who continues to fund the cheap-labor advocacy group via the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. The breadth of investors who founded and funded FWD.us was hidden from casual visitors to the group’s website in early 2021. But copies exist at the other sites.

The FWD.us network of coastal investors stands to gain from more government-delivered workersconsumers, and urban renters.

More migration means the investors “get more warm bodies in the United States …  More is never enough for them,” he added.

2019 study by the Utah-based Center for Growth and Opportunity reported that TPS approvals raise investors’ stock prices:

This study examines the stock prices of firms most likely to be affected by immigration immediately surrounding the signing of the Immigration Act of 1990 and the implementation of the 1999 Temporary Protected Status [rule for illegals from Nicaragua and Honduras] … Results show that, relative to the entire market, the stock prices of agricultural firms, construction firms, and manufacturing firms increase significantly during the period surrounding these two events.

The report also notes that prior migrants lose wages as more migrants are welcome, saying, “the wages of previous [in-place] immigrants are substantially (negatively) affected by the presence of new immigrant workers.”

Extraction Migration

The federal government has long operated an unpopular economic policy of Extraction Migration. This colonialism-like policy extracts vast amounts of human resources from needy countries, reduces beneficial trade, and uses the imported workers, renters, and consumers to grow Wall Street and the economy.

The migrant inflow has successfully forced down Americans’ wages and also boosted rents and housing prices. The inflow has also pushed many native-born Americans out of careers in a wide variety of business sectors and contributed to the rising death rate of poor Americans.

The lethal policy also sucks jobs and wealth from heartland states by subsidizing coastal investors with a flood of low-wage workers, high-occupancy renters, and government-aided consumers.

The population inflow also reduces the political clout of native-born Americans, because the population replacement allows elites and the establishment to divorce themselves from the needs and interests of ordinary Americans.

In many speeches, border chief Alejandro Mayorkas says he is building a mass migration system to deliver workers to wealthy employers and investors and “equity” to poor foreigners. The nation’s border laws are subordinate to elite opinion about “the values of our country” Mayorkas claims.

Migration — and especially, labor migration — is unpopular among swing voters. A 54 percent majority of Americans say Biden is allowing a southern border invasion, according to an August 2022 poll commissioned by the left-of-center National Public Radio (NPR). The 54 percent “invasion” majority included 76 percent of Republicans, 46 percent of independents, and even 40 percent of Democrats.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams: Gov. Kathy Hochul ‘Wrong’ for Not Making Other Areas of State Shoulder Migrant Crisis

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) offered harsh criticism Tuesday of how New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) is dealing with migrants flooding the area.

During a “fireside chat” at New York Law School, Adams said, “Gov. Hochul has been a partner on subway safety, on crime, on a host of things, but I think on this issue the governor is wrong,” the New York Post reported.

“She’s the governor of the state of New York. New York City is in that state. Every county in this state should be part of this,” he added.

Hochul previously blamed President Joe Biden (D) and demanded his administration take ownership of the mass of asylum seekers crossing the nation’s southern border.

However, “Adams slammed Hochul, saying in a statement following her address that she was ‘abdicating’ her duty as governor to create a statewide response to the crisis and forcing other areas of New York to pitch in,” the Post report said.

Right now, the city is reportedly caring for about 60,000 migrants, but thousands are flooding in every week, according to the outlet.

Breitbart News reported August 9 that Hochul is enthusiastic about the flood of migrants coming to the sanctuary state, considering them a way to help business:

In a press conference this week, Hochul seemingly spun as a positive the fact that thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens, often with no means to support themselves, are arriving in New York every week as New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) has said the city is in a crisis.

“I can’t tell you how many people have said to me, ‘I need them in my North Country Lake Placid hotel, a restaurant over in Syracuse, a nursing home on Long Island,’” Hochul said. “There are so many jobs that they could be absorbed into our economy so easily.”

But Hochul later pleaded with Biden to bail out her state with taxpayer money to help border crossers and illegal aliens find jobs, subsidized housing, health care, and public transit, Breitbart News reported.

Meanwhile, citizens have raged at Adams and his handling of the migrant crisis because of the problems they are facing in their communities.

During a recent protest, one attendee told him, “What I need for you to do as one of your constituents is send them back to Washington, DC. Send them back to Mexico. Have some guts. Stand up for your people. We are your people!”

JOE BIDEN AND THE NAFTA DEMOCRATS VISION OF AMERICA: 49 MORE MEXIFORNIAS!

Biden weasels out of helping New York as migrants surge in

Joe Biden never takes responsibility for anything, including policies that harm his fellow Democrats.

So, not surprisingly, he's passed the buck on aid to New York to deal with its migrant crisis.

In response to a pleading letter from New York's Gov. Kathy Hochul, New York got this from His Fraudulency, according to The Hill:

The White House told New York Gov. Kathy Hochul that it cannot send more assistance to the state to help with the influx of migrants, placing the blame on a lack of Congressional action. ...

"Without Congressional action, this Administration has been working to build a safe, orderly, and humane immigration system and has worked to identify ways to improve efficiencies and maximize the resources the federal government can provide to communities across the country to support the flow of migrants," a White House spokesperson said in a statement.

"We will continue to partner with communities across the country to ensure they can receive the support they need," the spokesperson wrote. "Only Congress can provide additional funding for these efforts, which this Administration has already requested, and only Congress can fix the broken immigration system."

That's swampspeak for "drop dead."

See, Biden can't get along with anyone in Congress enough to pass an aid bill, so New York is out of luck.  But cheer up: they can blame Congress instead of Biden, which created the crisis by opening the border to all comers.

It's bee ess.

As Rick Moran at PJMedia notes, there's plenty of things Joe Biden can do to help out his Democrat allies in New York who are taking in so many of his migrants:

Joe Biden could declare an emergency in New York, which would loosen the federal purse strings and make money available to both the city of New York and the state. But Biden is in the middle of a re-election campaign and being identified too closely with a crisis caused by his own lax border policies would not be "good optics," as the political consultants say.

Another thing he could do is reinstate Title 42 permitting the repatriation of migrants on pandemic concerns.  That would mesh nicely with his new campaign to claim that COVID is back.

But he won't, because there might be a political cost to him as he "runs" for "re-election" in a race he never won in the first place.

New York is spending itself into bankruptcy to house and feed these incoming foreign nationals, who amount to about 100,000 people as Moran notes.  The cost of bedding just one for a month comes to a cool $10,000 cost for the state, as Ed Morrissey at Hot Air writes, citing a New York Post report.  The full cost for New York will come to $12 billion over the next three years.

The state is crying out to Biden to pay for these costs, but open-borders Biden is giving them the back of his hand, claiming Republicans are to blame.

The state could resolve this crisis by itself by repealing its laws granting any incoming foreign national a "right" to free housing, which is what's driving these costs.  Migrants could pay for their own hotel rooms the same way other visiting foreign nationals do, or the same way Americans do whenever they visit a foreign country.  The state might even consider billing them as it would any taxpayer.  New York could also scrap its sanctuary state designation, though that probably wouldn't do as much, given that Joe Biden isn't enforcing U.S. immigration laws.

Its crying out to Biden is the act of a toddler calling "mommy" to clean up the mess he's at least partially made.  But Biden is nobody's parent.

And now there are public protests as New Yorkers balk at paying that $12-billion migrant bill.

That leaves them a tough choice — repeal its right to shelter laws or go bankrupt, hoping for a federal bailout from a future Democrat Congress.

Somehow, that's not going to end nicely for them.  So now they get to complain about Biden even as they vote for him.  What an ugly picture that is.

Joe already knows that all the cards are in his hand, and he's going to get away with it.

HOW FAR WILL THE AMERICA PEOPLE (LEGALS) LET JOE BIDEN DESTROY OUR BORDERS?

Joe Biden’s Economic Strategy Explodes Public Opposition to Migration

NEIL MUNRO

President Joe Biden’s open-doors immigration policy has caused a huge 22-point shift in public opinion on preferred immigration levels,  a Gallup poll released Monday reveals.

Only nine percent of Americans want more immigration, while 35 percent want less immigration, says the Gallup poll of 811 adults.

That is a dramatic 22-point shift since the end of President Donald Trump’s term on January 20, 2021, when 19 percent wanted less migration and 15 percent wanted more migration.

After just one year of Biden’s border welcome, 69 percent of Republicans wanted immigration reduced, almost double the 40 percent who wanted a reduction in early January 2021.

The share of independents who wanted less immigration has jumped from 19 percent in 2021 up to 32 percent in 2022.

Before Biden’s inauguration, only 2 percent of Democrats wanted more migrants. One year later, 11 percent of Democrats say they want lower migration.

And Biden’s deputies are still digging him deeper into the hole.

In 2021, for example, Alejandro Mayorkas, Biden’s pro-migration border security chief, helped roughly 1.5 million economic migrants cross the southern border. Mayorkas also relaxed rules to help companies import more foreign graduates for jobs needed by U.S. graduates, and announced plans to expand asylum-based migration into Americans’ jobs and communities.

The extraction-migration economic strategy was outlined on January 21 by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellon in a speech to ‘Virtual Davos Agenda’ which was organized by the globalist World Economic Forum.

The administration’s economic policy is a “modern supply side approach” that boosts economic growth with more imported workers, productivity gains, and tax reforms, she said:

My thanks to Klaus [Schwab] and to the World Economic Forum for hosting me.

[…]

Labor supply has been a concern in the United States even before the pandemic, in part due to an aging population and in part due to a labor force participation rate that has trended downward over the past 20 years.  Now COVID and declining immigration have further reduced the workforce …

A second focus of the Biden agenda is to enhance productivity. Over the last decade, U.S. labor productivity growth averaged a mere 1.1 percent—roughly half that during the previous fifty years.  This has contributed to slow growth in wages and compensation, with especially slow historical gains for workers at the bottom of the wage distribution.

But these goals are contradictory. The immigration of more labor actually reduces per-person wages and minimizes investors’ incentives to raise productivity, even as it also expands the overall size of the economy.

Biden’s pro-migration deputies are already reinflating the cheap-labor bubble that existed from the 1990s until it was popped by the combination of Trump’s lower-immigration policies and China’s coronavirus crash. The labor bubble encouraged Wall Street investors to create many low-wage jobs, to reduce investment in high-wage jobs and productivity-boosting machinery, and to bet on a consumer economy that is inflated by deficit spending and extraction migration.

The contradictory policies are likely caused by differences within Biden’s political coalition and help drive public disappointment in his approach.

Biden and many of his east coast allies — such as unions — seem to want a high-wage, high-tech economy.

But many of his deputies — including his chief of staff, Ron Klain — are entwined with the coastal investors who want to expand the nation’s consumer economy with more cheap workers, high-occupancy renters, and government-aided consumers.

The investors’ extraction-migration strategy is hidden within the Build Back Better legislation, which has stalled because of deep and growing public and GOP opposition. It is also buried in the House Democrats’ anti-China legislation. and is strongly supported by the party’s investor-funded woke progressives who want to gain political power by breaking America’s populist culture into a chaotic multicultural empire.

Politicians recognize that Americans want migration policy to help Americans, not investors, foreigners, and progressives.

“Members of Congress must prioritize our own citizens,” David McCormick, a contender in the GOP Senate primary in Pennsylvania, told Breitbart News. He continued:

I support President Trump’s pro-worker immigration reforms to include preventing corporate visa abuse, raising national security standards, establishing responsible asylum and refugee controls, implementing the Hire American program, and promoting a merit-based system. It is neither in the interest of today’s citizens, nor tomorrow’s immigrants, to admit numbers that erode living conditions, strain healthcare, and make it difficult for low-income workers to rise out of poverty. Washington needs to ensure an immigration system committed to the well-being of our people, from all places and backgrounds, who are already lawfully living here today.

If Congress seeks to import workers, “we need to do it smartly, in order to once again ensure that those new workers aren’t competing with our existing workers for jobs, competing for wages and salaries,” Sen. Todd Young (R-IN) told Punchbowl’s Anna Palmer in a January 25 interview. “This is how we’ll build majority support for immigration reform,” said Young, who is up for election this year.

However, many GOP legislators try to evade debate on the pocketbook damage of illegal migration and legal migration by loudly denouncing border chaos, illegal-migrant crime, and the drug-smuggling cartels. So far, the denunciations have not been combined into a useful or realistic pro-American platform for GOP legislation in 2023.

But the Gallup poll 22-point shift since January 2021 is another reminder that the public — including Latino voters — strongly opposes migration, especially labor migration.

The Gallup poll’s summary also understates public opposition by downplaying the fervor of the respondents. For example, the details of the poll showed that only 7 percent of all respondents report being “very satisfied” with Biden’s policies, while 41 percent say they are “very dissatisfied.”

The Gallup poll also shows that 34 percent of respondents were “very” or “somewhat” satisfied with immigration levels — even though very Americans actually know the real numbers. The Gallup statement did not say if the pollsters asked Americans what immigration numbers they prefer.

Other polls show that Democrats are far less likely to vote on immigration questions in the 2022 midterms. For example, just 33 percent of Democrats — down from near 50 percent in 2019 — say migration is a critical issue, according to the results released February 3 report by the Public Religion Research Institute. In contrast, 64 percent of Republicans — or two out of three — say immigration is a critical issue.

A YouGov poll also shows the shift in public opinion against migration.

Migration moves money, and since at least 1990, the federal government has tried to extract people from poor countries so they can serve U.S. investors as cheap workers, government-aided consumers, and high-density renters in the U.S. economy.

That economic strategy has no stopping point, and it is harmful to ordinary Americans because it cuts their career opportunities and their wages while it also raises their housing costs.

Extraction migration also curbs Americans’ productivity, shrinks their political clout, and widens the regional wealth gaps between the Democrats’ coastal states and the Republicans’ Heartland states.

An economy built on extraction migration also radicalizes Americans’ democratic, compromise-promoting civic culture and allows wealthy elites to ignore despairing Americans at the bottom of society.

Unsurprisingly, a wide variety of little-publicized polls do show deep and broad opposition to labor migration and the inflow of temporary contract workers into jobs sought by young U.S. graduates.

The opposition is growinganti-establishmentmultiracialcross-sexnon-racistclass-basedbipartisanrationalpersistent, and recognizes the solidarity that Americans owe to each other.

On Sunday, New Yorkers protested outside of Gracie Mansion — the residence of Mayor Eric Adams (D) — against the city setting up migrant camps in residential neighborhoods.

When open borders activists showed up to counter-protest, the residents started chanting, “Pasty white liberals!”

The New Yorkers are protesting the resettlement of thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens in their neighborhoods. Most notably, Staten Island residents are outraged by Adams’ insistence to house migrants at the former St. John Villa Academy which sits directly in a tight-knit neighborhood.

A judge had temporarily blocked Adams from housing border crossers and illegal aliens at the former school but another judge quickly overturned that decision when the city appealed the decision.

“This is unfair,” one Staten Island resident said to CBS News. “My tax dollars shouldn’t be going to this,” while another resident told neighborhood activists not to give up on protesting the migrant resettlement.

While New York City residents are largely ignored over the migrant issue, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) has created a jobs program for border crossers and illegal aliens that will connect them with employers in the state.

Since the spring of last year, more than 100,000 border crossers and illegal aliens have arrived in New York — the majority who have no ties to the United States and remain in New York City’s care, set to cost taxpayers about $12 billion by mid-2025.

WATCH: Anti-Migrant Protest in ‘Sanctuary’ New York City Turns Violent

August 28, 2023

An anti-migrant protest outside the official residence of New York City mayor Eric Adams (D.) turned violent Sunday as demonstrators clashed with counter-protesters.

Demonstrators carried signs reading "Americans over migrants," protesting Adams's policy of housing migrants in residential areas in the city. They scuffled with counter-protesters  as police attempted to keep the two groups under control. Counter-protesters, some of them wearing the signature black clothing of Antifa agitators, allegedly stole a flag from the anti-migrant crowd and attempted to burn it before stomping it into the ground.

Amid the chaos, police arrested former Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa, who ran against Adams in the 2021 race, for civil disobedience. At the protest, he called out the mayor for giving migrants "more than homeless people born in America have or veterans who are down on their luck have," the New York Post reported. He was arrested at a similar protest a week earlier.

Adams promised during his mayoral campaign that "New York City will remain a sanctuary city under an Adams administration."

In July, however, his administration distributed flyers to newly arrived migrants, advising them to "consider another city." Those flyers aimed to make the city less appealing to migrants, highlighting the cost of housing, food, an other items vital to their survival.

The city's migrant crisis has raised alarm for both Democratic insiders and everyday New Yorkers. Howard Wolfson, a former deputy mayor and adviser to Michael Bloomberg, told the  New York Times earlier this month that the crisis is a "ticking time bomb" for Democrats.

Eighty-two percent of New York state residents called the crisis a "serious" problem, with 54 percent calling it "very serious," in a poll released days before the protest. A majority of New Yorkers also agreed that the state should do more to slow the influx.

Most New Yorkers Say Migrant Influx a 'Serious Problem,' Poll Shows

New polling shows that New Yorkers are concerned about migrant arrivals and want the state to slow their entry.

Eighty-two percent of those polled said the recent influxes are a "serious" problem, and 54 percent said it is "very serious." The poll was conducted last week by Siena College and published Tuesday.

Forty-six percent of respondents said migrants relocating to New York in recent decades has been more of a "burden" than a "benefit." Fifty-eight percent said they "have already done enough" and that the state "should now work to slow the flow."

Biden faced the brunt of New Yorkers' anger in the poll. Forty-seven percent said they disapprove of New York City mayor Eric Adams's handling of the situation, 51 percent disapprove of Gov. Kathy Hochul's, and 56 percent disapprove of President Joe Biden's response.

The survey comes after Democrats told the New York Times they're worried that the worsening migrant crisis in New York could have disastrous implications for the party.

Democrats have pointed the finger at each other amid the crisis. Hochul last week called out Adams, alleging inaction on the part of the city government.

Lawyers representing Hochul criticized the mayor, saying the city failed to accept the state's offers for help and did not coordinate with surrounding communities to set up housing, leading to a crisis-level shortage of housing for illegal immigrants.

Adams hit back at the governor's criticisms last week. He said some of her suggestions are not tenable, such as housing migrants in areas located in flood plains.

But Adams has largely placed blame on the White House. Democratic New York City politicians rallied outside City Hall this month and called on the federal government for more help.

Adams called it "unacceptable" that the Biden administration has not expedited work permits for migrants.
