California Democrats on Tuesday killed a bipartisan bill to strengthen punishments for repeat traffickers of minors, continuing a years-long push to empty prisons.

The legislation, Senate Bill 14, would classify trafficking of children and teenagers younger than 18 years old as a serious felony on par with murder, arson, and rape, which would bring longer prison terms and potential life sentences without a chance for a plea bargain. The six Democrats on the Assembly Public Safety Committee abstained from voting on the bill, preventing its advance for a vote by the full chamber. Both Republicans voted yes.

"All [longer sentences] do is increase our investments in systems of harm and subjugation at the expense of the investments that the communities needed to not have this be a problem to begin with," said Democratic committee member Isaac Bryan during the hearing.

The Democrats' downvote came even as local leaders and anti-trafficking activists across California have warned that sex trafficking is surging since the state in January decriminalized loitering with the intent to commit prostitution in the name of transgender rights. The Public Safety Committee has killed a number of proposals this session meant to address rising crime—including a previous bill to sharpen penalties for sex trafficking. Progressive members of the panel have for years worked to ease punishments for criminals and reduce prison populations.

During Tuesday's hearing, survivors of human trafficking gave emotional testimony. One of the women, who testified anonymously, said she had been imprisoned after being trafficked and opposed the bill for fear it would criminalize other victims. The other, Odessa Perkins, criticized the panel’s reluctance to keep offenders in jail as enabling a "horrific cycle of abuse and depravity."

"I’ve heard the opposition ... [on] mass incarceration of blacks, harm to communities, and I’ve heard many speak about jail overcrowding," said Perkins, who is black. "But I’m here to say that I was molested and raped repeatedly by black and white men and even some women. So it does not matter the race. What matters is saving our children. Traffickers are getting out of jail, parole, and reoffending, continuing the horrific cycle of abuse and depravity."

Sharmin Bock, a former prosecutor for Alameda County, testified that traffickers in California, a national hotbed of the crime, rarely receive more than a few years of prison time and "are getting so brazen because the law has no teeth."

"Let’s now recognize that organized crime is in it, gangs are in it, because as you heard from our witness, they can do it over and over again," Bock said. "So recognize also that this is a huge moneymaker. These girls are ATM machines."

Public Safety Committee chair Reggie Jones-Sawyer (D.) said that he had planned to vote against the bill but decided instead to abstain and allow the authors to make revisions. He did not specify what changes could make the measure more acceptable to him.

Assemblywoman Liz Ortega (D.) effectively told sex-trafficked minors that the criminal justice system could not help them.

"I'm struggling with how do we support you with mental health access, with housing, with education, with good jobs, because it's part of a holistic approach," she said, addressing the witnesses. "Sending someone to prison for the rest of their lives is not going to fix the harm moving forward. And that's the part I'm struggling with. It's a complex issue."

State senator Shannon Grove (R.), who co-authored the bill along with two Democrats, expressed shock at Tuesday's defeat. She noted that she had already modified the bill to target only repeat traffickers of minors and that her Democratic colleagues in the upper chamber had unanimously voted yes.

"We amended the bill … thinking that once we got to the Assembly… [it] would be so easy to get out of this committee," she said. "And I’m sad to hear that I was wrong."

Newsom Adviser Defends Spending $17.5 Billion on Homelessness as Homeless Population Surged: It Would Be Worse Without Intervention

During a portion of an interview with CNN National Correspondent Nick Watt aired on Tuesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Lead,” Jason Elliott, who serves as an Adviser to California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on homelessness, defended the state spending $17.5 billion to fight homelessness over the past four years even though homelessness in the state went up by 32% by stating that the problem would be worse without the state’s intervention.

Watt began the report by stating “$17.5 billion. That’s what California has spent fighting homelessness over the past four years. At the same time, the homeless population of the state grew by around a third.”

He then played a clip of Elliott saying, “The problem would be so much worse absent these interventions, and that’s not what people want to hear. I get it. We get it.”

Watt then said, “Here’s some reductive, back-of-the-envelope math: With 17.5 billion, in theory, the state could have just paid the rent for every unhoused person in all four years.”

In the next clip in the report, Elliott responded that the math “is reductive, and can I say why with respect? Perhaps that would work for me because I don’t have significant behavioral health challenges.”

Watt added, “My reductive math did leave maybe 3 billion for mental health and other services. But even if the state did just offer to pay the rent, there just aren’t enough affordable houses to go around.”

Watt added that zoning is ultimately decided by local governments before playing video of Elliott stating that some governments won’t build low-income housing.

Surgeon Admits Performing Transsexual Surgeries on Young Children

Blair Peters

A pro-transgender university surgeon says he is performing irreversible sex surgeries on pre-pubescent children who have had no experiences of sexual feelings and little ability to consent or accomplish the required post-surgical procedures.

“It’s a very complicated issue,” Dr. Blair Peters, a Canadian-trained “queer” surgeon at Oregon Health & Science University, told a friendly interviewer. “But I think definitely something that we’re going to learn a lot more about in the next five to 10 years as we’re doing just increasing numbers of these cases,” Blair said in the now-archived video.

Getting consent and cooperation from the pre-sexual children is also a problem, Blair acknowledged:

It’s challenging because there’s this question of ‘How does that factor into consent?’ when you’re consenting someone for pubertal suppression, and there likely is some effect on downstage genital surgery, but you don’t know if an individual is going to desire genital surgery in the future or not.

And then it’s also hard to have a conversation with someone that maybe hasn’t went through puberty or ever engaged in sexual activity. It’s a really tricky thing … more often than not, there’s been almost no genital engagement in terms of self-stimulation or masturbation. So then trying to assess things like erogenous outcomes after a surgery when someone’s never had an erogenous experience is incredibly difficult because they don’t really have a baseline to compare it to.

The issue is especially difficult for young boys because they are expected to repeatedly use a painful wand to prevent their male body from closing up their just-created “vaginal” canal, Peters noted:

And then, you know, post-operative care, anyone knows that seeing the post-op or vaginal classification is really intense and we’re kind of asking someone that is younger and hasn’t really engaged or done much with their genitalia, to all of a sudden do this like really aggressive relaxation for dilation, and it’s just a huge ask. So we’re finding that to be a barrier, almost more so than [surgery].

Many of these medical problems are mentioned in accounts by young people who go through the surgeries, such as “Jazz” Jennings.

The surgeons know little about the long-term outcomes of the experimental surgery on children, according to Blair, who describes himself as a “queer” surgeon:

You know, we’ve maybe done a couple, a handful, of pubertily suppressed adolescents as a field and no one’s published on it yet. OHSU is, we’re just putting our first series [of studies] together as we’re kind of learning and figuring out what works.

The frank admissions are a problem for the transgender industry and the insurance firms that cover lawsuits but also for President Joe Biden and the many Democrats in D.C. who are trying to shift progressives’ attention from policy failures on poverty, economics, and war, toward the emotional concept of needy “trans kids.”

“The reason they’re playing up the trans issue is to basically signal to their base, that [Biden] is the boldest candidate they’re gonna get, and they don’t want to lose voters to the Green Party,” said Terry Schilling, the president of American Principles Project:

The 2020 election was actually very close the terms of the Electoral College — it’s like 43,000 votes and you shift votes he loses. A Green Party candidate on the ballot in Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, in North Carolina, and will basically guarantee he loses if he doesn’t solidify the base.

The GOP has a chance to win more suburban moms by showcasing testimonies about the horrifying damage done to kids, Schilling told Breitbart News:

Suburban women, they’re with us on banning surgeries for minors, but they don’t believe it’s happening. They’re like, “Oh, yeah, but this isn’t really happening that much.” So the next Republican nominee, he’s got to talk a lot about this and bring out the transitioners. Like you almost want a “Detransitioners for Trump” coalition in order to get this out there.

Peters’ admissions drew much criticism online.

“This interview is mind-boggling,” said a tweet by 4thWaveNow, a group that opposes the transsexual ideology’s demand that Americans must submit to the cross-sex claims by men. The statement continued:

Gender surgeon Blair Peters admits how much he doesn’t know about outcomes (e.g. sexual function) for puberty-blocked males he operates on; we’ll “know more” in 5 to 10 years after more teens undergo genital surgeries.

“For an entire year, the mainstream media said that “gender-affirming” doctors were not performing genital surgeries on children,” tweeted Christopher Rufo. “This was always a lie—and now they’re admitting it in the open …  There’s no other way to say it: they’re castrating kids in the name of ‘gender-affirming care.'”

“In any sane society this video would be used as evidence in Blair Peters’s trial for crimes against humanity,” tweeted lawyer Dan Minucci.

Polls show the public is increasingly opposed to the transexual agenda, especially the medical sector’s intensive marketing of transgenderism to kids:

There is a growing pushback by professionals and media against the progressive-backed profitable business of sex surgery on children and teenagers.

Numerous GOP politicians — especially Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — have responded by championing the public’s opposition to transgenderism. “There is value in making sure our society is rooted in truth, not in a social fad,” DeSantis said.

Teen Girl Accused of ‘Hate Speech’ After Voicing Concerns About Transgenders in Girl’s Locker Room

A YMCA swimming coach in Illinois accused a sixteen-year-old girl of “hate speech” for voicing concerns over a male claiming to be a transgender woman walking nude in the girl’s locker room.

Last April, Abbigail Wheeler, a swimmer on the Springfield, Illinois, YMCA SPY swim team, was alarmed when a transgender woman was allowed to use the same locker room as the girls on her team.

The girl brought her concerns to head swim coach Alex Totura, but he told her there was nothing he could do to stop it. But that didn’t end the controversy as shortly afterward, several parents organized to bring their concerns to the YMCA’s Chief Executive Officer Angie Sowle, Fox News reported.

The parents requested that the facility change its policy and require trans people to use single-person bathrooms to change in.

Some of the girls on the team also allegedly began hanging signs in the women-only locker room reading “Women’s Rights,” “Biological Women Only,” and “Safe Sport.”

“‘SafeSport’ is a U.S. nonprofit authorized by Congress that is dedicated to ending physical, emotional, and sexual abuse in sports,” Fox News noted.

After the signs went up, though, Wheeler’s father said that coach Totura retaliated by saying the girl was engaging in “hate speech” and throwing her off the swim team. Totura allegedly told the girl she was “not allowed to participate with the swim team and was asked to leave the pool area,” her father says.

For its part, the YMCA claims the girl is lying and that she was never kicked off the team.

“The statement that the swimmer was removed from the Y and prevented from participating on the swim team is false. She left the swim team and the YMCA on her own,” said a spokesperson with the YMCA.

Still, the organization has rules preventing complaints about transgenders using whatever bathroom suits their fancy and has lashed out at such complaints before.

In Aug. 2022, an 8-year-old woman was banned from a YMCA in Port Townsend, Washington, for raising concerns about naked men walking around in the women’s locker room.

In Jan., a YMCA in San Diego went on the attack against a teen girl who was upset by a naked man seen inside the girl’s locker room. The girl was reportedly called a “bigot” by YMCA staff.

Also, in Ohio, a judge ruled that a man claiming to be a woman was not guilty of flashing girls in the women’s locker room of a local YMCA only because he was so fat his genitals could not be seen.

Former NCAA college swimming champ and women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines is now organizing to support the Illinois teen with a rally to be held on Thursday at Rotary Park in Springfield in cooperation with the Illinois Freedom Caucus.

The Illinois Freedom Caucus posted a statement saying they were proud of Wheeler’s courage to share her experience publicly.

“What we are seeing here is a result of the radical left’s agenda to put young girls in harm’s way for the sake of catering to confused biological men who think they are women. In this case, a Springfield YMCA would try to silence and gaslight a high school girl, Abbigail Wheeler, for speaking up against men exposing themselves and watching her fellow teammates change in their locker room. Where are her rights? Where are her feminist activists at?” the legislators said in their statement.

Gov. Youngkin Cuts Transgender Activists’ Access to Kids

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) has closed down state-run Internet links that provided pro-transgender activists with direct and private access to vulnerable teenagers.

The shut-down programs, according to the Washington Post, included:

Queer Kid Stuff, a resource for children and families that launched its video series in 2016 with a piece exploring the question, “What Does Gay Mean?” and Q Chat Space, which offers live, facilitated chats for LGBTQ+ teenagers. Neither site requires adult permission to use, which some conservatives say they find troubling but LGBTQ+ experts say is essential for youth who need support and are not comfortable bringing their questions to a family member.

The “Q Chat Space” site asks teenagers for their emails and their emerging sexual identity:

Queer Kid Stuff is a pro-transgenderism group that posts videos aimed at children:

The Post lamented the governor’s decision to protect children from sexual advocacy, saying:

Discussions about children’s sexuality and gender identity have been at the heart of a conservative backlash to LGBTQ+ rights this year, with commentators and far-right agitators claiming that gay and transgender people are “grooming” children by, for example, holding story time while dressed in drag, or allowing children to discuss gender identity in school.

The websites were first highlighted by the Daily Wire, prompting Youngkin’s deputies to shield families from the back-channel advocacy by “queer” advocates:

“In Virginia, the governor will always reaffirm a parent’s role in their child’s life. Children belong to their parents, not the state,” [Youngkin spokesperson Macaulay] Porter said in a statement. “The governor supports providing resources that are age appropriate however the government should not facilitate anonymous conversations between adults and children without a parent’s approval. Sexualizing children against a parent’s wishes doesn’t belong on a taxpayer supported website.”

Many advocates for transgenderism say governments should facilitate their outreach to children and teenagers because of supposed parental threats to youths.

But many studies show that the vast majority of troubled kids — including boys and girls who will become gay or lesbian — walk away from transgenderism if they are not given the drugs and hormones that cause irreversible physical and mental changes.

Also, many polls show that the public backs parents’ rights to guide their children through the often-difficult teenage years.

Sixty-seven percent of likely voters believe information about sexuality for children in kindergarten through third grade should be “left to parents,” according to a Harvard Harris poll conducted in March 2022. The poll with 1,990 registered voters. Only 33 percent of the 1,990 registered said sexuality should be “taught in schools” to young children, the poll said.

Even Democrats support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ (R) curbs on sexual advocacy in K-12 schools, according to a March 2022 survey:

But many progressive teachers are eager to promote transgenderism and gay status, regardless of the risks to children.
